By placing ourselves in the theoretical paradigm which takes into account the sociological dimension of a translation which undermines the myth of an objective translation and a transparent translator, we sought to study the translator’s subjective, ideological, emotional interventions. The analysis of the translator's traces, revealing a conscious manipulation which seeks to produce a persuasive effect or a more or less unconscious interpretation imbued with the translator's own emotions will allow us to show the transformations that the pathemic expressions of the discourse (the emotional charge of the discourse, the ethos or the image that the author projects of himself, etc.) go through as well as the consequences got on the level of the identity construction of the conflict’s protagonists.  
En se plaçant dans le paradigme théorique qui prend en compte la dimension sociologique de la traduction qui met à mal le mythe d’une traduction objective et d’un traducteur transparent, nous avons cherché à étudier les interventions subjective, idéologique, émotionnelle aussi bien conscientes qu’inconscientes de la part du traducteur. L’analyse des traces du traducteur, révélatrices d’une manipulation consciente qui cherche à produire un effet de persuasion ou d’une interprétation plus ou moins inconsciente imprégnée des émotions mêmes du traducteur nous permettront de montrer les transformations que peuvent subir les expressions pathémiques du discours (la charge émotive du discours, l’ethos ou l’image que projette l’auteur de lui-même, etc.), ainsi que les conséquences subies au niveau de la construction identitaire du texte (l’image des protagonistes du conflit).

Le présent article rapporte les résultats d'une étude sur corpus réalisée afin de définir la fréquence et l’envergure de la non-traduction intentionnelle dans les traductions juridiques. L’étude a été réalisée sur le corpus que forment les publications officielles de l’UE, majoritairement juridiques, accessibles sur le site eur-lex.europa.eu. Les exemples rapportés dans l’article sont tirés des versions anglaise, française et polonaise desdites publications.
The article describes the results of the corpus studies to determine the frequency and scope of the translation strategy involving the deliberate non-translation of selected elements of the source text in legislative and legal texts. The analysis was based on the multilingual official legislative and legal publications of the EU available at eur-lex.europa.eu. The examples quoted in the article come from equipollent versions in English, French and Polish.
Niniejszy artykuł zawiera opis wyników badania korpusowego mającego na celu ustalenie częstotliwości i zakresu stosowania techniki tłumaczeniowej polegającej na zamierzonym nietłumaczeniu wybranych elementów tekstu wyjściowego w tekstach prawnych i prawniczych. Analizę przeprowadzono w oparciu o korpus, jakim jest zbiór wielojęzycznych oficjalnych publikacji prawnych i prawniczych UE, dostępny na stronie eur-lex.europa.eu. Przytoczone w artykule przykłady pochodzą z angielskiej, francuskiej oraz polskiej wersji językowej tychże dokumentów.

In the article entitled ‘The Taming of the Italian Vulgarism or Polish Translators Facing Censorship’ the authors reflect upon the translation of Italian vulgarisms contained in literary works into the Polish language. Two modern teen novels written by Federico Moccia were analyzed for this purpose, namely Tre metri sopra il cielo and its sequel Ho voglia di te. The former was translated into Polish by Krystyna and Eugeniusz Kabatc whereas the latter by Anna Niewęgłowska. The text analyses were performed with the use of TextSTAT. The authors analyze the translations of the expressions within the given contexts and attempt to tackle the questions concerning the translation techniques applied in the traduction of vulgarisms and cuss words as well as shed light on the differences in the translations of the two literary texts.
Dans le présent article, les auteurs réféchissent sur la traduction des vulgarismes italiens en polonais dans les deux romans contemporains pour les jeunes de Federico Moccia : Tre metri sopra il cielo et Ho voglia di te. La traduction du premier livre a été assurée par Krystyna et Eugeniusz Kabatc, tandis que le deuxième, qui constitue la suite des aventures des jeunes héros du premier texte, a été traduit par Anna Niewęgłowska. Après avoir fait une analyse statistique concernant le nombre de mots vulgaires dans les textes originaux et dans leurs traductions respectives, on a examiné les contextes d’apparition des gros mots, ce qui a permis de répertorier les solutions utilisées par les traducteurs de deux textes et les différentes techniques qu’ils ont adoptées dans la traduction des vulgarismes.

This article examines the rapid and radical adaptations to total distance learning that the COVID-19 pandemic required of teachers using TraduXio, a multilingual digital translation platform for collaborative translation work (https://traduxio.org). The teachers discuss the changes that the sudden transition brought to their classroom work, which included adjusting activities to suit the evolving needs of the learners and the varying reactions of the students themselves; they conclude by providing a brief assessment of the advantages and disadvantages of the 100% distance learning/teaching situation. Three main benefits of the switch to distance learning of translation are addressed: 1) making learners aware of the importance of individual interpretation in translation, 2) developing their sensitivity to consistency in translation choices across a group of translators (terminology, tense, tone), and 3) focusing their attention on the importance of discussion in the translation process.

Greeting someone with a Hello!, or finishing a letter with Sincerely, Yours truly, seems very easy for a native speaker. These expressions, basic in ordinary life communication, entail a lot of constraints noticeable only when we must use them in a foreign language. Although seemingly simple in terms of content, form and context of ordinary life when they are employed, these utterances are very singular. They are ritually emitted in common situations to which they are prototypically associated.
Saluer quelqu’un par un Bonjour !, ou finir une lettre par Cordialement, Bien à vous, semble très facile pour un locuteur natif. Ces expressions qui sont basiques dans la communication de la vie courante entraînent beaucoup de contraintes dont on ne s’aperçoit que lorsqu’on doit les utiliser dans une langue étrangère. Ces énoncés qui ont l’air d’une grande simplicité du point de vue de leur contenu, de leur forme et des contextes de la vie ordinaire dans lesquels ils s’emploient sont très singuliers. The translation of La Bible d’Amiens and Sesame et les Lys was a way for Proust to take an interest in religious art, but also to cultivate his own vision of art. Ruskin was for Proust a guide who participated in the support of his artistic self by transfering a certain number of aesthetic conceptions to which his mind would never have been able to access on its own. Proust succeeds in recognizing the decisive dimension of the Christian religion and its implications for Ruskin's aesthetics. Transcending the religious dimension, Proust realizes that Christian architecture, as understood by Ruskin, acquires a meaning other than religious, namely that of a past sublimated by the powers of art. Thus the historical dimension is annihilated in favor of an aesthetic perception of works from the past. Our article therefore aims to show how this experience of translation allowed Proust to deconstruct the aesthetic vision of the author of the translated text, while constructing a vision of art that is his own.

Notre travail est une réflexion sur la traduction du discours traductologique. Prenant comme étude de cas le chapitre « La traduction au manifeste » de l’Épreuve de l’étranger d’Antoine Berman, nous examinons les difficultés de traduction du discours bermanien et, en particulier, l’apparente intraduisibilité des concepts-clés de l’ouvrage. Notre démarche commence par un examen général de la traduisibilité du discours traductologique, qui comprend une analyse des particularités du métalangage. Par la suite, nous passons en revue les axes fondamentaux de la philosophie de Berman, pour identifier dans la dernière partie les défis d’ordre terminologique et discursifs de la traduction du discours bermanien.
The paper deals with the translation of the discourse pertaining to the field of Translation Studies. The case study under scrutiny is the chapter entitled “A Manifestation of Translation” in The Experience of the Foreign by Antoine Berman. We examine certain translation difficulties of Berman’s discourse and, in particular, the apparent untranslatability of key concepts of his work. Our approach starts with a general analysis of the translatability of Translation Studies works, which includes a review of the metalanguage. We then expose the fundamental principles of Berman’s philosophy in order to be able to identify, in the last part of the paper, the terminological and discursive challenges implied by the translation of Berman’s discourse.

In the last 30 years there has been an increased interest among researchers in the problem of self-translation, particularly in the context of novel translation. The aim of the following paper is to present the challenges of self-translation in a context of dramatic texts. The corpus of analysis for this article will be three plays written by bilingual artists who are rooted in Western Canadian provinces – Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The analysis of the fragments of the originals compared with the self-translated versions of the plays: “La Trahison/The Betrayal” by Laurier Gareau (2004) “La Maculée/sTain” by Madeleine Blais-Dahlem (2012) and Marc Prescott’s “Fort Mac” (2009) will allow us to determine the characteristics of self-translation of each of these “privileged translators”.

Compte tenu de l’acception polysémique du mot, cette étude explore les différentes déclinaisons de la « mémoire » dans la pratique de la poésie et de la traduction d’Yves Bonnefoy. Avec ses dernières œuvres, le poète lègue à son lecteur ses « mémoires » d’enfance, en lui confiant la mission dont il investit la poésie : célébrer, contre l’oubli, la « mémoire » de l’expérience partagée avec autrui. En outre, la mémoire constitue en même temps la source et le processus de la création poétique, comme le démontre aussi sa pratique de la traduction. Si la « tâche » du traducteur selon Bonnefoy coïncide avec une recherche, l’exploration des profondeurs de la mer qu’est chaque langue dans le but de faire resurgir de l’étendue sombre et silencieuse de la nuit la lumière d’une parole réparatrice, en traduisant les vers d’autres poètes, Bonnefoy revit l’expérience de la poésie à travers un nouvel acte poïétique, en remémorant chaque fois l’intuition et l’émotion.
This study explores different variations on the theme of “memory” in Yves Bonnefoy’s poetry and translations. In his latest works, the poet bequeaths to his readers his childhood memories entrusting them with a mission with which he invests poetry: to celebrate, against oblivion, the “memory” of the experience shared with others. Moreover, memory is both the source and the process of poetic creation, as his practise as a translator also demonstrates. If the task of the translator, according to Bonnefoy, coincides with a search, an exploration of the depths of the sea that is every language, in order to bring forth from the dark the light of a restorative word, then, by translating the verses of other poets, Bonnefoy relives the experience of poetry through a new poetic act, recalling each time the intuition and the emotion.

The starting point for the discussion is the statement that fantasy is born in the language. Among the linguistic measures that create the ‘crack’ in reality indefinite pronouns can be found. They make it possible to form the reference ambiguity/inaccuracy. Our aim is to describe linguistic mechanisms which conceal the perpetrator of action. This is why reflection on the structure indefinite pronoun + V and its Polish equivalents in the corpus of fantasy texts is offered. The purpose of the analysis is not to systematically describe the use of this structure. It is crucial to present the most important contexts in which the structure is present. The choice of corpus is a particularly important matter with regard to the obtained results. We would like to show that the structure indefinite pronoun on + V is one of the invariants of fantasy literature.

Le présent article aborde la problématique de la polysémie dans le langage du droit polonais et français. La première partie de l'article présente les définitions concernant le phénomène de la polysémie. Dans la partie suivante de l'article, la polysémie est analysée du point de vue de la traduction juridique. L'auteur attire l'attention sur les deux types de polysémie, à savoir la polysémie linguistique et juridique (Sourioux, Lerat 1975, 93). Les deux types de polysémie mentionnés ci-dessus ont été illustrés par les exemples en langue polonaise et française. Les termes polysémiques ont été présentés dans les tableaux. L'auteur souligne aussi les diverses significations de termes polysémiques analysés, présentés dans des colonnes séparées pour mieux illustrer le phénomène de la polysémie.
Niniejszy artykuł porusza problematykę polisemii w polskim i francuskim języku prawa. W pierwszej części artykułu zdefiniowano zjawisko polisemii W kolejnej części podjęto analizę wieloznaczności polisemicznej z punktu widzenia przekładu prawniczego. Skoncentrowano się głównie na dwóch rodzajach polisemii, a mianowicie polisemii językowej oraz polisemii prawniczej (Sourioux, Lerat 1975, 95). Autorka zobrazowała wspomniane typy polisemii przykładami w języku polskim oraz francuskim. Terminy polisemiczne zostały zamieszczone w tabelach, a różne znaczenia danego terminu polisemicznego pogrupowano w oddzielnych kolumnach, aby lepiej zilustrować wielość znaczeń.
The objective of this paper is to illustrate the phenomenon of polysemy in Polish and French legal language. The first part of the article deals with the definition of polysemy. In the second part, the author focuses her attention on polysemy in legal translation. The distinction between linguistic and legal polysemy (polysémie linguistique, polysémie juridique) is also presented (Sourioux, Lerat 1975). The examples of polysemic words with their multiple meanings have been indicated.

Opis:
Nous abordons dans le présent article le problème de la portée du terme traduction juridique. Nous allons essayer de désigner les caractéristiques qui peuvent servir de base à une définition de la traduction juridique. La première partie se concentre sur la présentation de la notion de la traduction juridique, notamment du point de vue de la définition du texte et du discours et du langage juridiques. Nous analysons les différents types des textes juridiques en comparant les typologies adoptées par quelques auteurs et en adoptant la perspective de la traduction. Dans la deuxième partie du présent article, nous présentons les caractéristiques qui permettent de distinguer la traduction juridique d’autres types de traduction spécialisée en démontrant qu’elle réside dans la spécificité du processus de la traduction juridique qui consiste en décryptage et recryptage du message.
The author focuses her attention on the term legal translation. The aim of the paper is togive features of legal translation which can serve the purpose of constructing a definition of theterm. The first part of the paper touches upon the problem of legal translation, legal discourse, legal texts and legal language. The typologies of legal texts presented by different authors have been included here as well. In the second part of the article the features typical of legal translation and differentiating it from other types of translation are given.
W niniejszym artykule poruszony jest problem zakresu terminu tłumaczenie prawnicze. Opracowanie ma na celu wskazanie tych elementów charakterystycznych, które mogą posłużyć do zbudowania definicji przekładu prawniczego. Pierwsza część poświęcona jest omówieniu pojęcia przekładu prawniczego, w szczególności z perspektywy definicji tekstu i dyskursu prawniczego oraz języka prawa. Omówione zostaną różne typy tekstów prawnych w koncepcjach różnych autorów oraz w perspektywie tłumaczeniowej. W drugiej części opracowania przedstawiono cechy pozwalające na rozróżnienie tłumaczenia prawniczego od innych rodzajów przekładu specjalistycznego, poprzez wskazanie, że jego specyfika wynika z przebiegu procesu tłumaczenia na etapie odkodowania i ponownego kodowania informacji.

Dans cet article, l’auteur examine le préverbe dis- dans une perspective contrastive franco-polonaise. La première partie présente les enjeux théoriques concernant la théorie universelle de la préfixation sémantique, ainsi que les principes et les étapes de l’analyse sémantico-traductionnelle des préfixes. Ladite analyse est basée sur l’hypothèse que différentes significations (c’est-à-dire des valeurs sémantiques) d’un préverbe donné en langue source devraient se manifester dans la traduction des verbes préfixés en langue cible. La deuxième partie contient les résultats de l’application de la méthode proposée dans l’étude du préverbe dis-. En examinant les traductions polonaises de 42 verbes préfixés en dis-, trouvées dans deux dictionnaires, à savoir le Grand dictionnaire français-polonais et Lexique 5, l’auteur conclut que le préverbe analysé est porteur de 4 valeurs sémantiques : la valeur de mouvement/éloignement (physique ou mental) dans diverses directions, la valeur d’annulation ou inversion de l’action antérieure, la valeur de négation et la valeur de cessation/privation. Grâce à la méthode de recherche utilisée, il devient également possible de constater des différences dans la répartition de ces valeurs aux niveaux profonds du français et du polonais.  
In this article, the author examines the preverb dis- in the French-Polish contrastive perspective. The first part presents theoretical issues concerning the universal theory of semantic prefixation as well as the principles and stages of semantic-traductological analysis of prefixes. The said analysis is based on the assumption that different meanings (i.e. semantic values) of the preverb in the source language should manifest themselves in the prefixed verbs translation into the target language. The second part contains the results of the application of the proposed method in the study of the preverb dis-. By examining the Polish translations of 42 verbs prefixed by dis-, found in two dictionaries, namely Great French-Polish Dictionary and Lexicon 5, the author concludes that the analysed French preverb carries 4 semantic values: the value of moving/moving away (physically or mentally) in different directions, the value of cancellation or reversal of the previous action, the value of negation and the value of interruption/deprivation. Thanks to the applied research method, it becomes also possible to notice differences in the distribution of these values in the deep structures of the French and Polish languages.
