Opis:
Teleworking and telecommuting are the newest and very popular ways of employment. This kind of employment is connected with changing the place of employment. An employee moves from the head offices (which are frequently based in the centre of a big town) to his home. Employment in this system permits to save time, driving expenses, operating costs, etc. From the employers` viewpoint, teleworking has a direct impact on the company’s costs reduction (equipment, accident and national insurance), while from the point of view of employees, it raises their degree of independence and develops discipline and diligence. Teleworking also takes advantage of the Internet, contributes to the development of the information society and raises its level of informatization. It has an important influence on the society’s structural components.

Teleworking in fact operating on the polish labor market already in since the nineties; has been pursued at the beginning the in civil law forms of employment. The amendment of the labour code of 2007 put teleworking in the polish labor law, as an official, based on the regulations of employees legal form of employment. "Teleworking" means work performed far away from the traditional, conventional place of employment, with contemporary ICTs. Teleworking as a modern type of employment, provides an easy way to reconciliation of work and family life and the use of flexible work arrangements, involving the possibility to exercise in any place and at any time. But it turns out that in practice the use of teleworking in Polish firms are still not common and full of barriers.

Opis:
This paper investigated the landscape, attractiveness, and contours of teleworking in Lagos State, Nigeria. The study adopted purely qualitative techniques. The sample size was 40 participants purposively selected in 25 work organizations in both private and public sectors. Study instruments were Key Informant Interviews conducted with 20 Human Resource Practitioners and In-Depth Interviews conducted with 20 senior staff members of the selected organizations. Most organizations in Lagos were forced to adopt teleworking during or after the 2020 lockdown and its landscape in Lagos state has become wider and smoother. Study also revealed that teleworking is attractive to employees in terms of avoiding road/traffic challenges, enhances work-family balance and a viable option for individuals living with disabilities, pregnant and nursing mothers. To employers, it enhances business continuity, saves cost, and reduces concerns about disease and illnesses. The study identifies poor technological and infrastructural base, absence of labour policy framework, organizational policy, capacity building, data security issues as contours hindering effective teleworking in Lagos State. The practice of teleworking has been firmly established in Lagos State, Nigeria. Governments and Employers of labour stand to gain immensely from the adoption of teleworking if relevant social and organizational policies are made available, as well as making the operating economic and technological environments more conducive.

The paper presents contemporary changes in employment models. The main focus is on transformation of employment-based job model and intensive development of non-employment-based job model. The features and consequences of the transformation of gainful employment provision models are characterised, stressing that changes in employment sphere should be reflected in legislative amendments. The paper demonstrates that labour market challenges are best responded to by a shift from job-protection model to life-long employment protection model and by such making of employment law that helps modify protection of employees and ensure basic protection of non-employment-based jobs.

Opis:
Aim/purpose – The impact of teleworking on the work-life balance is still not clear. Since women are the ones who tend to assume most of the domestic tasks, our paper aims to determine, in gender terms and with a theoretical approach, how the effects of teleworking may affect the division of domestic tasks and the reconciliation of the private and professional spheres. Design/methodology/approach – This paper is based on a literature review and focuses on theoretical perspectives. Findings – On the one hand, the flexibility offered by teleworking during the health crisis may have enabled women to achieve a better work-life balance by offering them the possibility of not having to stop working despite the family responsibilities they had to assume. On the other, the unequal distribution of unpaid domestic work, which has continued and even increased during the crisis, has forced many women to quit their jobs. Research implications/limitations – The health crisis has shown that as long as teleworking is not organized in a way challenging the assumption of the home as a female environment, the office will stay a male environment with gender inequalities always prevailing between home and work. Originality/value/contribution – This paper contributes to the literature on teleworking by highlighting that generalizing teleworking without considering gender aspects may be harmful to female workers. Such a finding is important in the actual context of the development of hybrid organizations.

Opis:
The article presents the reasons for the development of teleworking and the theoretical basis of knowledge on defining and understanding, as well as the possibility of providing teleworking as one of atypical forms of employment. Undertaking a professional activity in the form of teleworking is not new in Poland, however in recent years it has become a more widely used and desirable form of employment among young employees. Therefore, an important part of the study is to identify the strengths and weaknesses of teleworking and predispositions of teleworkers. The determinants of positive and negative aspects of teleworking are also an important part of the study. The main goal is to present the results of the study of teleworking perception in a group of students of Wroclaw’s universities. The author assumed that the awareness of teleworking should go hand in hand with its acceptance as a relatively different form of employment from the traditional one. The obtained results indicate that students as potential teleworkers correctly interpret the concepts related to teleworking, but they do not show the desire to engage in professional activity in the form of teleworking.

The article is an attempt to identify aspects related to transformations in the labor market and the approach to knowledge management towards telework in the context of market conditions caused by globalization and the very rapid development of information and communication technologies. It raises the issue of teleworking as one of the alternative and flexible forms of employment. It includes an attempt to identify factors that may hinder the popularization and development of teleworking in Poland. The study uses the studies of domestic and foreign literature on the subject, the results of previous research on the state of knowledge about teleworking and an analysis of own research. The aim of the article is to present the results of a survey that identified the state of knowledge about teleworking and its accompanying factors, among students of three Wrocław universities in the context of popularizing teleworking in Poland.

The development of technology has a significant impact and creates new requirements in the field of labour-law relations. One of these requirements is the protection of occupational health and safety by preventing the blurring of boundaries between employees’ work and private lives. The most important means which is currently the subject of discussions in the professional community, but also in practice, is the right to disconnect. This paper is devoted exactly to this right, its perception at the level of the institutions of the European Union, and its legal enshrinement in the legislation of the Slovak Republic.

Rynek pracy podlega nieustannym przemianom związanym z rozwojem technologii i zmianami społecznymi.
The labour market is constantly changing due to its relation to progress in technology as well as social modifications, New phenomenon appear, such as crowdsourcirg thought in here as a way of acquiring and performing work with the use of internet platforms, work uberisation or co-working. New work forms involve benefits such a; greater flexibility of labour market, easier access to service prcwiders or lower costs of economic activity. However there are also threats in place, mainly physical and psychosocial, with the special focus on stress an outcome of job insecurity. Just as well, crowdsourcing is an occurrence social and legal aspects of which have not yet been decided ultimately, therefore prone to generate problems to both service providers and receivers as well as to the stale.

Opis:
Flexible forms of employment became the focus of attention both of practitioners and researchers in recent years. To popularize teleworking law regulations concerning telework were introduced in Poland in 2007. However, the attitude of the representatives of the labor market towards these regulations seems ambiguous. Moreover, the research shows that no significant increase in teleworking practice appeared. The study described in the article aimed at verifying to what extent the employers comply with the requirements and recommendations concerning teleworking included in the Labor Code. It was also intended to assess how the practice goes in line with the legislator's intentions and to indicate possible directions of changes in legislation to popularize telework. The research was based on a questionnaire filled in by employees of organizations using teleworking and on individual interviews with HR experts. The study confirms that there is a significant discrepancy between the national law on teleworking and the practice of the labor market. Only a few of the surveyed organizations used new regulations. Informal principles of regulating telework were dominant. It seems that the adopted solutions focus on the protection of employees, and not on encouraging employers to use this form of work organization, and in some areas even discouraging them. The analysis allows for concluding that although legislator has defined many objectives, neither the suggested measures nor the expected values accompany them. Therefore, one can presume that the primary goal to be achieved by the Legislature was a qualitative change, i.e., a significant popularization of telework. Unfortunately, the conducted research did not prove that such change has occurred.

Increasing job flexibility results in measurable economic and non-economic benefits both for employers and employees. On the basis of information obtained in interviews, psychological threats associated with telecommuting were analyzed in order to determine causes of excessive psychological burdens, adaptation difficulties and their possible results considered within the framework of work psychopathology

Opis:
Research background: The global COVID-19 pandemic created an unprecedented challenge not only for employees' well-being, but also for the nature of their work, as teleworking became the norm for many of them almost overnight. Thus, there is a need to a more fine-grained understanding of the specific job demands experienced while teleworking during COVID-19, and the specific resources that mitigate the detrimental effects of demands and help employees to adopt resilient responses during and beyond COVID-19. Purpose of the article: Drawing upon the job demands-resources model, the present study aims at investigating the link between work overload (a job demand) and employee well-being (i.e., burnout), considering role clarity (a job resource) as a mediator, and task interdependence and self-efficacy as two potential boundary conditions. Methods: In order to examine the link between work overload, role clarity and emotional exhaustion moderated by task interdependence and self-efficacy, we used survey data from 701 Romanian employees at a large information technology company, who worked from home during COVID-19. We employed regression-based path analysis to examine the hypothesized relations. Findings & value added: The results reveal that role clarity partially mediates the relation between work overload and emotional exhaustion while teleworking during COVID-19. Moreover, the results from the moderated mediation analysis show that role clarity, self-efficacy, and task interdependence interact in their effects on emotional exhaustion. This study has important theoretical and managerial implications for employee well-being that go beyond the pandemic. As this study shows, when high levels of workload and task interdependence cannot be avoided, employees' personal (self-efficacy) and job (role clarity) resources might be particularly useful to reduce their exhaustion while teleworking. Based on these results, managers can design better jobs for remote workers and more flexible work arrangements in the future.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had an unprecedented impact on the dynamic increase in the share of people performing their professional duties outside the place where it has been provided so far. Millions of employees overnight change the traditional model of work, based on direct contacts with colleagues, to work remotely, most often at home. On the basis of Eurostat research, the change in the share of people working remotely in 2011–2020 was presented – comparing Poland to other European Union countries. The article also attempts to show the differences in defining the terms “telework” and “remote work”. The pandemic prompted the commencement of legislative work aimed at legal validation of the term “remote work” in Polish legislation. The article presents the currently consulted provisions relating to “remote work”, which are to be included in the Labor Code. The text also shows the consequences, advantages and disadvantages of working remotely.
