Opis:
The paper presents an analysis of measurements taken on ship hull blocks to assess their feasibility for the final stage of assembly in a dry dock or on a slipway. The analysis requires first to check if blocks were manufactured within tolerances assumed in design and then to compare if two neighbouring blocks can be joined to each other. As each block is measured in a different coordinate system it is necessary to make transformations and bring results to a common CAD model without loss of accuracy. An algorithm for optimizing the transformation process to obtain better results, is proposed. The optimization is aimed at minimizing the sum of distances between transformed points and corresponding points in a CAD model. Description of the optimization method and example of its application is also presented. The problem of transformation of measurements or coordinate systems is more general as it can be found, apart from shipbuilding , e.g. in civil engineering, cartography, robot control, pattern recognition, medical imaging.

Ship shock tests have been conducted for shock qualification of hull integrity and proper operation systems and subsystems. The ship shock trial identifies design and construction and it also validates shock hardening criteria. The main problem is that ship shock trials are costly. Numerical modelling and simulation, using FEM, may provide information to look into the details of fluid model, dynamic characteristics of ship hull and its internal component. The ship shock modelling and simulation has been performed and the predicted results were compared with ship shock test data made into sea trials. The preliminary studies of shock analysis approach are presented and the important parameters are discussed. The course of pressure changes in the shock wave and the acceleration of the ship hull during an underwater explosion in a fixed point, coating elements with chosen junction forces (example), designation of degrees of freedom of rectangular plate, simplified diagram of interactions in the process of detention in the hull of a ship, analysis of the acceleration of the Newmark method, calculations based on central difference method, schematic anchor launch, layout of the apparatus and the conditions for an explosion, the course of the accelerations recorded in the ship's hull, The course of simulation of the acceleration are presented in the paper.

In the paper the current and future possibilities of the R-JH3 method are discussed. The R-JH3 method (presented in detail in [27]) was elaborated for the ship power prediction on the basis of a new definition of the open-water propeller fully equivalent to the behind-the--hullpropeller. The R-JH3 method can be used to determine the mean effective velocity and the mean effective pitch coefficient of the behind propeller. The R-JH3 method may be very useful for scale-effect investigations and scale-effect designation when results of model self-propulsion test have to be transformed to the ship scale.

This case study, involving a ship of the STRM type, has shown that increased vibrations in crew accommodations to a large extent depend on stresses exerted by the screw propeller. It has been found that the frequency of propeller blades and its second harmonic have the largest effect on ship hull. The amplitudes of the first and fourth order stresses were calculated.

Opis:
The article characterises the sea-going vessel hull assembly processes and then reviews the existing assembly methods of mechanisms and welded ship structures. Classification of these methods is done with respect to selected criteria of their applicability to hull assembly. Selected methods are used for calculations performed on a model structure and exemplary database. The analysed aspects include the performance of calculation algorithms and the quality of the obtained solutions. Particular attention is paid to the need for reduction of experts’ participation in the planning process due to strong search space explosion effect. The performed analyses have enabled the authors to formulate assumptions for models which would be applicable in real assembly planning in shipyards, as well as to indicate areas of further research which would make it possible to better consider the specificity of production of large-size welded structures.

The specificity of the yard work requires the particularly careful treatment of the issues of scheduling and budgeting in the production planning processes. The article presents the method of analysis of the assembly sequence taking into account the duration of individual activities and the demand for resources. A method of the critical path and resource budgeting were used. Modelling of the assembly was performed using the acyclic graphs. It has been shown that the assembly sequences can have very different feasible budget regions. The proposed model is applied to the assembly processes of large-scale welded structures, including the hulls of ships. The presented computational examples have a simulation character. They show the usefulness of the model and the possibility to use it in a variety of analyses.

Opis:
The ship hull vibration has a great impact on the performance, safety of the devices, structures, and the sailor's comfort when working on the ship. With increases in ship sizes and speeds, shipboard vibration becomes a significant concern in the design and construction of ships. Therefore, designing a ship without any excessive vibration is an important issue and should be studied through analysis right in the design phase. To ensure minimum vibration in a proposed new design; avoid damage to structures, machinery or equipment (mechanically suitable); meeting the requirements of the crew's living environment and working conditions. The ship's natural vibrations are determined to right from the design stage, which will help ship designers and structures avoid dangerous resonance areas. In this study, a three-dimensional finite element model representing the entire ship hull, including the deckhouse and machinery propulsion system, has been developed using numerical modelling implemented in Patran-Nastran software for local and global vibration analyses of the container ship 2000 TEU. Vibration analyses have been conducted under two conditions: free– free (dry) and in-water (wet). The wet analysis has been implemented using Mfluid elements in Nastran software. Because of the global ship free vibration analysis, global natural frequencies and mode shapes have been determined. Combined with the frequency of the main engine and the propeller, the resonant regions with higher frequencies are determined by the resonant graph of the hull. The application of the finite element method for ship vibration analysis shows the optimal of numerical modelling method compared to other traditional methods. This will help other technical problems to be solved with the support of the finite element method.

Opis:
Hull form optimization from a hydrodynamic performance point of view is an important aspect of ship design. This study presents a computational method to estimate the ship seakeeping in regular head wave. In the optimization process the Genetic Algorithm (GA) is linked to the computational method to obtain an optimum hull form by taking into account the displacement as design constraint. New hull forms are obtained from the well-known S60 hull and the classical Wigley hull taken as initial hulls in the optimization process at two Froude numbers (Fn=0.2 and Fn=0.3). The optimization variables are a combination of ship hull offsets and main dimensions. The objective function of the optimization procedure is the peak values for vertical absolute motion at a point 0.15LBP behind the forward perpendicular, in regular head waves.
