W artykule opisano problematykę, jaką niesie ze sobą proces rekuperacji energii podczas hamowania odzyskowego górniczej lokomotywy akumulatorowej. Omówiono zalety i wady, jakie wiążą się z odzyskiem energii, a także wskazano kierunki rozwoju układów zasilająco-sterujących górniczych lokomotyw akumulatorowych. Dużą uwagę poświęcono badaniom stanowiskowym, mającym na celu zarejestrowanie właściwości parametrów składowych energii elektrycznej zwracanej do baterii akumulatorów podczas pracy w układzie z rekuperacją energii. Przedstawiono budowę stanowiska badawczego, scharakteryzowano metodę badawczą oraz zaprezentowano wstępne wyniki uzyskane podczas badań stanowiskowych.
The article discusses the issue of the energy recuperation process during the recovery braking of a mine-battery locomotive. The author discussed the advantages and disadvantages related to energy recovery, along with the development trends in the control and power supply systems for mine-battery locomotives. A lot of store was set by workplace testing aimed at registering the component parameters of electrical energy returned to the batteries whose work is based on energy recuperation. The structure of the testing stand was presented, along with the testing method. Finally, the initial results of the tests were described.

The first simulation consists of a partial cut-out of gas flow canal between the heat exchanger fins. The simulation is steady state and mainly provides the information about the heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop across the canal. The second simulation takes into account the complete system of rotary heat exchanger. It is a transient simulation with moving mesh. Then the heat transfer and air flow parameters are presented as a porous volume with a heat transfer model and rotational multi zone interface conditions. This simplification is accurate providing much better performance as the number of mesh nodes is much smaller. The methodology of the model setup is presented.

Zgodnie z warunkami technicznymi, którym powinny odpowiadać budynki w Polsce, systemy wentylacji mechanicznej wymagane są w coraz większej liczbie nowo powstających budynków. Z tego powodu coraz więcej rozwiązań na rynku stara się odzyskiwać energię w ramach systemu wentylacji mechanicznej. Kiedy w latach ubiegłych porównano zużycie energii elektrycznej przez systemy rekuperacji do zużycia energii przez systemy wentylacji grawitacyjnej, nie dawało się ekonomicznie uzasadnić wyboru tych pierwszych. Dziś, gdy systemy wentylacji mechanicznej są wymagane, rekuperacja jest zawsze korzystna dla inwestora. Jedną z technicznych rekuperacji jest urządzenie wykorzystujące regenerator. W niniejszym artykule postanowiono skupić się na badaniach eksperymentalnych rekuperatora wykorzystującego regenerator w formie złoża ceramicznego. Sam proces rekuperacji, jak i uzyskiwane wydatki powietrza, zdecydowanie przewyższają pod względem efektywności inne rozwiązania z tego segmentu. W ramach badań wyznaczono osiągane strumienia powietrza oraz wpływ działania rekuperacji na poziom stężenia CO2 w pomieszczeniu.
According to the technical conditions to be met by buildings in Poland, mechanical ventilation systems are required in an increasing number of newly constructed buildings. For this reason, more and more solutions on the market are trying to recover energy as part of a mechanical ventilation system. In previous years, when the electricity consumption of recuperation systems was compared to the energy consumption of gravity ventilation systems, it was not possible to economically justify the choice of the former. Today, when mechanical ventilation systems are required, recuperation is always beneficial for the investor. One of the technical recuperation is a device using a regenerator. In this article, it was decided to focus on experimental studies of a recuperator using a regenerator in the form of a ceramic bed. The recuperation process itself, as well as the obtained air expenses, definitely exceed other solutions in this segment in terms of effectiveness. As part of the research, the achieved air flow and the effect of recuperation on the level of CO2 concentration in the room were determined.

The article is a follow-up and an extension to previously published papers by Holzer-Żelażewska & Holzer (1997) and Holzer-Żelażewska & Tymicki (2009). Fristly, we have added new cohorts to the cohort analysis based on the individual data from births registration for the years 2009–2015. Secondly, we have extended the scope of the study by taking into account the context of postponement and recuperation to analyses of cohort fertility of Polish women. The approach applied to the fertility postponement and recuperation on the cohort data refers to the method which was originally proposed by Frejka (2011) and Lesthaeghe (2001) and further developed by Sobotka et al. (Sobotka et al., 2011). This method allows for calculation of fertility postponement and recuperation measures with respect to a benchmark cohort chosen as the one that first experiences an onset of the increase in the mean age of motherhood at first birth. The results show the remarkable changes in the fertility patterns in Poland. The main driving forces behind the change in fertility patterns in Poland are related to the postponement of first births along with a relatively good recuperation. The magnitude of recuperation for Polish cohorts dropped significantly for second births and was almost non-existent for third and higher births. Therefore, the pattern of fertility in Poland observed till 2015 could be characterized by postponement and recuperation of first births along with a significant decrease in second births with perpetual postponement of third and higher births.

The paper presents an innovative method to increase the overall effi ciency of the internal combustion engine. The presented method is based on the kinetic energy derived from the fl ow of exhaust gases in the exhaust system of the internal combustion engine. Th is energy is used to drive a high speed turbogenerator which is integrated with the gained energy system management. Such a system, which uses energy otherwise lost in the engine exhaust system, allows the acquisition of additional electrical energy. As a result, it improves the energy balance of a motor vehicle. Th is is particularly important in a situation of constantly expanding system of electric receivers in vehicles. Th e paper presents an analysis of the research results of the system of energy recovery, carried out on turbo supercharged engine with spark ignition. Th e article also gives the research results on the impact of the proposed system on the environment.

Z różnych powodów poszukiwanie nowych źródeł energii jest obecnie koniecznością. W artykule przedstawiono pomysł wykorzystania drenów do zainstalowania układu odbioru niskotemperaturowego ciepła zawartego w gruncie i wodach gruntowych. Może stanowić to alternatywę dla gruntowych poziomych wymienników ciepła, szczególnie wtedy, gdy na danym terenie wykonano drenowanie. Artykuł zawiera opis technicznych zagadnień związanych z budową i wykorzystaniem takich drenów. Przedstawiono problemy, jakie wiążą się z wykonaniem układu, jak również te, które wystąpić mogą podczas jego eksploatacji. Wykorzystanie w praktyce opisanej koncepcji uzależnione jest od warunków pracy drenu i zabezpieczenia jego funkcjonowania jako układu służącego do regulacji stosunków wodnych w wierzchnich warstwach gruntu. Przeprowadzona została dyskusja warunków pracy drenu oraz wymiany ciepła.
New energy sources have to be searched for a number of reasons. An idea of using drains for installing a recuperation system of low-temperature heat of the ground and groundwaters is proposed in the paper. This can be an alternative for horizontal ground heat exchangers, especially when the area has been already drained. The paper consists of a description of technical issues connected with the construction and use of such drains. Problems related with making such a system to be encountered during exploitation, are presented in the paper. The applicability of the described concept depends on the operational conditions of the drain as a system regulating water relations in the top strata of the ground. The conditions of drainage and heat exchange are discussed in the paper.

The weight decreasing of small cars can be very effective by using of lightweight materials. Movable masses of such cars like suspension arms, wheel rims, drive shafts can be made of magnesium alloy, brake discs can be made of aluminum alloy. Such masses can mate with electromagnetic shock absorbers with possibility of recuperation for energy of chassis vibrations, changing it into the useful electric power. Main parts of the shock absorber are the cylinder with the set of coils and the rod with a set of permanent magnets. Cylinder can be made of magnesium alloy. Coils winding has been connected to electric wires placed inside light spring. Three-phase current generated in the set of coils can be supplied through the controlled rectifier into battery. Dimensions of electromagnetic shock absorber have been close to those of hydraulic shock absorber, so it can be used in the typical chassis of automobile. The scheme of the shock absorber has been shown in the article. The elaborated model of road roughness and of moving masses for small car, connected to electromagnetic shock absorber has been shown in the article. It has been analysed the values of dynamic parameters during operation of electromagnetic shock absorber with movable masses of small car driven in different road conditions. Results of such analysis have been presented in the article. The aim of the study has been to estimate and to compare the amount of recuperated energy by the electromagnetic shock absorber – rectifier – battery assembly for the cases of car movable masses made of steel and for the one of lightweight materials

This paper presents a concept for energy recovery in city buses, based on organic Rankine cycle (ORC) system modeling. ORC modeling provides preliminary parameters which enable estimation of transient state energy flow, especially at those points in the system where it can mostly easily be recovered (exhaust, cooling and brakes). The paper describes an easy-to-use procedure for time-domain analysis of velocity waves in a real driving cycle. The results were combined with a dynamic system model of a city bus in block diagram environment, taking into account the influence of parameters assumed to have the greatest impact on the model’s accuracy. Average fuel consumption and producer specifications (maximum vehicle speed, rate of acceleration) were used as reference parameters. A procedure was developed for tuning the simulation model according to the reference parameters. The results of the simulation, based on real measurements of Lodz city traffic parameters, are discussed and an estimate is made of the potential for energy recovery in city buses.

Opis:
Analysis of temperature distribution and heat flow in the exhaust system of diesel engine to determine technical parameters of the system for heat recuperation and changing of thermal energy into electric energy was presented. Temperature of exhaust gases as well as geometrical and material features of exhaust system were the input data accepted for modelling. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) was used to determine temperature distribution in the exhaust system. The software by use numerical methods finite volume method) enables solving partial differential equations consisting of equations of: continuity, Navier-Stokes, Fourier-Kirchoff and complemented with other equations important as regards the discussed phenomenon (e.g. with turbulences models)transforming them in the algebraic equations or common differential equations. CFD software enables gaining some information as regards flow rate, distribution of speed field, and pressure field as well as heat flow, temperature field and mass field. Design and principle of operation of Peltier 's cell, model of recuperator, exhaust system, and diesel engine, finite elements meshing, boundary conditions assumed in analysis of exhaust gases and water flow, distribution of temperature field (maximal temperature of scale 335 K and maximal temperature of scale 400 K) on external wall of exhaust system and cross-section of exhaust system are presented in the paper.

The research provides a thermodynamic analysis of the theoretical model of a ventilation and air conditioning heat pump system with the ventilation air cold energy recovery depending on outside air parameters, the recovery efficiency and characteristics of a premise. A confectionery production workshop was taken as a prototype where technological conditions (temperature and humidity) must be maintained during the warm season. Calculations using the method of successive approximations to estimate air parameters at system’s nodal points were conducted. It allowed to determine theoretical refrigeration efficiency of the studied system and proved advantages of heat recuperation for smaller energy consumption. The model can be applied for design of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning units which work as a heat pump. The studied system has the highest energy efficiency in the area of relatively low environment temperatures and relative humidity which is suitable for countries with temperate continental climates characterized by low relative humidity.

Set of parameters which objectively characterize a technical condition of the hydromachine can be received at their bench tests. Considering the set forth above features of hydromachines, for reception of the maximal volume of the information at the minimal expenses of time and energy at tests apply stands with recuperation of capacities. Essentially new designs of stands with recuperation of capacities for test of hydraulic machines and mechanical units are offered and patented. The basic structures of test beds with recuperation capacities and bases of a choice of their parameters which allow testing adjustable hydromachines in a wide range of their parameters are considered. In this paper, concept of energy saving by the use the special recuperation system for hydraulic excavator is studied. This solution is alternative to commercial projects of hybrid systems, which store energy in the hydro pneumatic accumulators or the super capacitors. Suggested solution includes designed system of active counterweight, which cooperates with working mechanism of machine. The hydraulic circuit of active counterweight is connected with the boom standard hydraulic system. The counterweight mechanism is homothetic to working mechanism of the excavator. The homothetic transformation applies to kinematical structure and positions of the centres of gravity. The homothetic transformation provides to static unloading of boom cylinder by the connected counterweight cylinder. The possibility of energy saving by using movable counterweight was estimated during tests. The key parameters of hydraulic system, such as: cylinders velocity, working pressure, oil flow and another were measured on prepared research stand. The comparison of power consumption for standard and modification system during the same work cycles allowed confirms the correctness of the suggested concept for energy saving system. Energy saving ratios for modified hydraulic circuit was calculated for different velocity of boom cylinder and payloads. The active counterweight system for low velocity cylinder of excavator mechanism is ready to application. The hydraulic circuit for higher value of boom cylinder velocity requires resize a few elements for example supply lines.

Służy do wyznaczania sprawności temperaturowej i wilgotnościowej rekuperatorów w różnych warunkach pracy oraz charakterystyk przepływowych i szczelności.
The article presents the concept of the system for testing the recuperators used for recuperation of heat in the ventilation and air-conditioning systems of buildings. It consists of two air-conditioned chambers that recreate the parameters of the atmosphere in and out of the building and of relevant systems for control and measurement. It is used for estimation of the temperature and humidity efficiency of the recuperators in different work conditions and for calculation of the flow and tightness characteristics.

The article refers to the previous work of the authors, in which the model of traffic organization of cooperating trains including the optimization of the use of energy returned to the catenary was presented. In the presented article, the model was modified by changing the main control variable, which affects the efficient use of energy. Departure time was changed for the arrival time of the train to the stop or station. The optimization is done by controlling the arrival time to the station in the acceptable (scheduled) range while maintaining the scheduled departure time. This model assumed optimization using the interval halving method (bisection) to achieve the optimal solution. The modified optimization method has been implemented in the original model of railway traffic organization. It considers the optimal use of energy recovered during electrodynamic braking using the energy transmission strategy to the catenary, assuming the cooperation of a train pair and volume of all recovered energy and stop time at the station.

Combustion engines drive motor vehicles, which are commonly used, and their efficiency does not exceed forty per cent. It is hard to accept such a waste of energy nowadays when there is less and less fossil fuel and the ecological norms are being tightened. That is why hybrid power transmission systems and systems for energy recuperation - especially kinetic, so far being lost – are becoming more popular. One of such solutions is a unit to recover energy from a driver's seat vibration in a motor vehicle. It allows changing the kinetic energy of the vibrating seat into the electric one. Such a unit is installed under the driver's seat and supports the gaseous shock absorber. The unit consists of two toothed bars, coupled by two pairs of gear wheels, which drive the alternating current generator rotor. The rotor is joined with a driving shaft by one-way centrifugal clutches. One bar drives the rotor while the seat moves down and the other - while the seat moves up. The rotor is equipped with permanent magnets, which, by rotation, induce the power in the stator's winding. The generated power goes through the voltage stabilizing and rectification systems (4.75-5.25 V) and charges four batteries connected to USB output. The obtained electric energy may be used to supply other electronic devices, e.g. mobile phones. The unit will be installed in a farm tractor. The research checking the unit's effectiveness will be carried out in the near future.
