    The paper aims to pinpoint one of the main interpretational problems of Józef Tischner’s philosophy – the dispute around the notion of scene, which is the basic concept in Tischner’s ‘philosophy of drama’. It is as well strongly connected with theatre studies. That is why it is common to regard Tischner’s philosophy in a theatrical context. On the other hand, Tischner’s scene is also referred to world of entities, which in traditional philosophy was a field of ontological investigates. Both abovementioned tendencies are a result of misunderstanding Tischner’s thought and they lead to the wrong interpretation of his philosophy of man. Yet according to Tischnerman does not play in a drama as an actor on the scene, but rather he is a dramatical being. Proper understanding of Tischner’s notion of scene is essential to understand his philosophical project and to recognize its value and novelty.

    Artykuł ukazuje zbieżność poglądów na temat odpowiedzialności, jakie znaleźć można w filozoficznych tekstach księdza Józefa Tischnera i mających charakter duszpasterskich tekstach kardynała Stefana Wyszyńskiego. Myśl Wyszyńskiego można widzieć jako duszpasterskie dookreślenie i rozwinięcie filozoficznych poglądów Tischnera na temat odpowiedzialności. W artykule przedstawiam Tischnerowskie myślenie o „polu odpowiedzialności” i pokazuję, w jaki sposób to samo zagadnienie pojawia się w wybranych wypowiedziach kardynała Wyszyńskiego. Następnie omawiam „dramatyczny” wątek Tischnerowskiej filozofii odpowiedzialności, którego elementem centralnym jest zagadnienie winy, i na wybranych tekstach kardynała Wyszyńskiego pokazuję, w jaki sposób wątek ten jest obecny także w jego myśli. Na koniec ukazuję wartość duszpasterskiego rozwinięcia filozoficznej analizy zagadnień związanych z odpowiedzialnością.
    The paper shows the convergence of views on responsibility that can be found in the philosophical texts of Fr. Józef Tischner and the pastoral texts of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński. Wyszyński’s thought can be seen as a pastoral clarification and development of Tischner’s philosophical views on responsibility. In the paper, I present Tischner’s thought on the ‘field of responsibility’ and show how the same issue appears in selected statements of Cardinal Wyszynski. Next, I discuss the “dramatic” theme of Tischner’s philosophy of responsibility, the central element of which is the question of guilt, and on the basis of selected texts by Cardinal Wyszyński, I show how this theme is also present in his thought. Finally, I show the value of a pastoral development of the philosophical analysis of issues related to responsibility.

    The question of what it means to be a dramatic being is synonymous with a question who is the man of the media and what his existence is based on. The act of communication is a dramatic act rooted in human existence. Opening up to another person, to the drama scene and the passing time forms the essence of dramatic existence. Each act of communication with reference to others is an opportunity to rediscover human deposit inscribed in his nature. The article analyses the act of communication of a person in the philosophical perspective of Joseph Tischner’s drama. This analysis reveals the philosophical dimension of the process of communication.

    Celem artykułu jest podjęcie próby interpretacji fenomenu wojny, wykorzystując wybrane koncepcje filozoficzne Józefa Tischnera. Interpretacja prowadzi do wniosków, że: (1) źródłowym casus belli jest odmowa drugiemu prawa do istnienia, (2) zło wojny polega na zaburzeniu relacji dialogicznej i w konsekwencji na emanacji zła na ziemię jako scenę dramatu, (3) zakończenie działań wojennych na scenie dramatu nie gwarantuje trwałego pokoju – potrzeba jeszcze odbudować relację dialogiczną. 
    The aim of this article is to try to interpret the phenomenon of war using selected philosophical concepts of Józef Tischner. The interpretation leads to the conclusion that: (1) the source of the casus belli is the denial of the other’s right to exist, (2) the evil of war consists in disturbing the dialogical relationship and, consequently, in the emanation of this evil into the world as a drama stage, (3) the end of warfare on the drama stage it does not guarantee lasting peace – the dialogical relationship still needs to be rebuilt.

    The article is an analysis of how the concept of participation functions in the philosophy of drama by Józef Tischner. I begin by saying that this is the basic concept of this philosophy. Tischner gives two basic meanings of the drama using the concept of participation and then uses this concept very often. In my analysis, I observe how Tischner uses this concept, I investigate who participates and in what they participate, and I also reconstruct the structure of this participation. As a result it is revealed that the specific understanding of this concept is related to other basic concepts of this philosophy, e.g. to reciprocity or horizon. It also reveals – which is quite a surprise – an egological component of the philosophy of drama.
    Artykuł jest analizą sposobu, w jaki funkcjonuje w filozofii dramatu Józefa Tischnera pojęcie uczestnictwa. Wychodzę od stwierdzenia, że jest to podstawowe pojęcie tej filozofii. Za jego pomocą Tischner podaje dwa podstawowe znaczenia dramatu, a następnie bardzo często używa tego pojęcia. W mojej analizie obserwuję, w jaki sposób Tischner je stosuje, badam, kto uczestniczy i w czym, a także odtwarzam struktury tego uczestnictwa. W efekcie ujawnia się, że specyficzne rozumienie „uczestnictwa” powiązane jest z innymi podstawowymi pojęciami tej filozofii, np. ze wzajemnością czy horyzontem. Ujawnia się także – co jest sporym zaskoczeniem – egologiczny komponent filozofii dramatu.

    W niniejszym artykule podejmujemy problem niezależności myśli dramatycznej Józefa Tischnera oraz refleksji teodramatycznej Hansa Ursa von Balthasara. Wykazujemy, iż obaj autorzy, pomimo zbliżonego podejścia ogólnego i pewnych podobieństw w niektórych aspektach szczegółowych, rozwijają swą myśl (teo)dramatyczną niezależnie od siebie. W przypadku Balthasara można mówić o całkowitej niezależności od Tischnera. W przypadku Tischnera analizujemy przykłady formalnej zależności jego tekstów od Balthasara (cytowanie grzecznościowe, zapożyczenia terminologiczne) i wykazujemy, iż zależność ta ma charakter czysto marginalny i dotyczy jedynie ostatnich dwóch lat jego życia. We wniosku formułujemy więc tezę o „nieprzyczynowej równoczesności” dotyczącą wkładu obu autorów w rozwój tzw. nurtu dramatycznego, nawiązując w ten sposób do analogicznego zjawiska, o którym pisał sam Balthasar w kontekście prekursorów nurtu dialogicznego.
    In this article we address the problem of the independence of the dramatic thought of J. Tischner and theodramatic reflection of H. U. von. Balthasar. We show that both authors, despite some resemblance in general approach and certain similarities in some specific aspects, develop their (theo)dramatic thought independently from each other. In case of Balthasar, one can talk about total independence from Tischner. In case of Tischner, we analyze the examples of formal dependence of his texts on Balthasar (courtesy citing, terminological borrowings) and we show that this dependence has a purely marginal character and concerns only the last two years of his life. As a corollary we formulate a thesis about „non-causal simultaneity” regarding the contribution of both authors to the development of the so-called dramatic current, referring this way to the analogical phenomenon that Balthasar himself discussed in the context of the precursors of the dialogical current.

    Kryzys nowoczesności jest kryzysem fundamentalnym, jest bowiem, jak uważa Józef Tischner, kryzysem nadziei. Zadaniem współczesnego człowieka jest przezwyciężenie tego kryzysu, a filozofia może w tym dopomóc – ponieważ myśl może sięgnąć do źródłowego doświadczenia nadziei, może odnaleźć te pokłady rzeczywistości, które umożliwiają odnowienie nadziei. W takiej perspektywie Tischnerowska filozofia dramatu i agatologia – a więc myślenie skupione na analizie i interpretacji dramatu ocalenia i zguby, a także na ujawieniu swoistej logiki tego, co ponad bytem i byciem – prowadzą do możliwości przezwyciężenia naznaczonej kryzysem sytuacji współczesnego człowieka. W rzeczywistości wydaje się nieusuwalnie tkwić nieredukowalny element dobra.
    The crisis of modernity is a fundamental crisis for, as Józef Tischner claims, in its core it is a crisis of hope. To overcome this crisis is a task of contemporary man, and philosophy serves its role within this effort – thinking can arrive at the original experience of hope and reach to those layers of reality which enable the renewal of hope. From this perspective, both Tischner’s philosophy of drama and agathology – thinking aimed at the description of drama salvation and damnation, as well as engaged in the proces of revealing the peculiar logic of what is beyond beings and Being – open up to the possibility of overcoming the crisis-marked situation of contemporary man. Eventually, there seems to be an irreducible element of good within the reality.

    Tekst prezentuje interpretację aksjologicznego tła artykułu 17. kodeksu etyki lekarskiej, w której wykorzystane są przede wszystkim elementy filozofii wartości Józefa Tischnera. Autor posługuje się pojęciami aksjologii, by opisać szczególną dynamikę deontologii zawartej w artykule dotyczącym sytuacji informowania pacjenta o niepomyślnych rokowaniach co do jego stanu zdrowia. Zamiast opisów powszednich sytuacji tego typu, czytelnik otrzymuje inspirowaną przede wszystkim filozofią Tischnera rekonstrukcję układu wartości i roszczeń, w którym znajduje się lekarz.
    The text presents an interpretation of the axiological background of Article 17 of the Polish Code of Medical Ethics. The interpretation uses elements of Józef Tischner’s philosophy of values. The author employs the concepts of axiology to describe the special dynamics of deontology contained in Article 17, which refers to the situation of informing the patient about an unfavorable prognosis regarding his health. Instead of descriptions of everyday situations of this type, the reader receives a reconstruction of the system of values and demands in which the doctor resides, inspired by Tischner’s philosophy.

    The German researcher of the philosophy of religion, Bernhard Welte (1906–1983), looking for an answer to the question about the substantive relationship between philosophical thinking and religious thinking, does not provide a final answer, but allows some discussion and polemics. This way of practicing the philosophy of religion is interesting because this problem is juxtaposed with the problem of man and his experience of existence. Thanks to this narrative, it is possible to pose more demanding ethical questions. In the further deliberations of this author, there are, inter alia, reflection on what a person’s life could look like without the “presence” of religion in his life (also in the aspect of relating to being a non-believer), also in the ethical aspect. It can be said that in a similar key - anthropological and ethical - he presents his position on the problem of “philosophical thinking versus religious thinking”, the Krakow philosopher Józef Tischner (1931–2000). This thinking is based both on his concept of the philosophy of drama, as well as on the experience (direct and indirect) of the believer. This reflection is “torn” between a specific topos (temple) and the people who come to a particular temple and create a specific community. The aim of the article is an attempt to answer the question of what religious thinking is as perceived by Tischner, as well as to specify his position in the aspect of the contemporary crisis of understanding the community in terms of the philosophy of values.

    This paper provides an explanatory rationale within a theoretical philosophical framework for the Philosophy Plays project as a call to public philosophy, conceived as a way of life and a form of communal therapy for the mind. The Philosophy Plays aim is to introduce philosophy to the general public through philosophical presentations by professional philosophers incorporating drama. Like Plato’s dialogues, the Philosophy Plays, that combine dialectic (the philosophical talk) with rhetoric (the drama) seek to engage their public audiences in a realistic and shared lived experience, rendering philosophy a practical and meaningful applied activity for all participants, conceived as a way of life.
