    Opis:
    The paper is a review of the two-volume-work of Michael Wolter. English version of his commentary is a valuable work directed to biblical scholars as well as students and wider groups of readers. The analysis focuses especially on the introduction: i.e. the concept of the commentary, its general structure, both author’s and reader’s identity, as well as the theological vision of the Lukan work. The formal feature of the commentary is also evaluated. The last part of the paper gives few examples of Wolter’s approach toward particular pericopes along with some critical observations concerning minor deficiencies or disputable solutions.

    Opis:
    Lukan Mariology does not present a holistic picture of Jesus’ Mother, although no doubt it is fundamentally important for the narrative of Luke-Acts. The Infancy Narrative and the three further traditions disseminated in the main bulk of the Lukan work (Lk 8:21; 11:27-28; Acts 1:14) show that her person cannot be limited to her faith or motherhood only. The author of the third Gospel composed a careful set of scenes in order to share with his readers much fuller picture of Mary. Being a Mother of the Lord, she is also a disciple following God’s will and the teaching of her Son. In this study the author is looking for some fresh insights from the text applying methodology presented recently by C. Bennema and other scholars interested in the Gospels’ characters and their characterisation.

    Opis:
    The aim of the article is to show the relationship between an image of Zion-Jerusalem in the Ps 134 and the Lucan theology of the Holy City. Even though it is not easy to draw a certain conclusion on the issue, one could say that the Lucan idea of the Holy City is much more compound that the one present in the Psalter, but it is certainly built upon it. At first the third evangelist took the Psalmist’s point of view stressing both the role of Jerusalem and its sanctuary, but in the conclusion of his two volume work he preserved only a salvation-historical function of the City separating it from its cultic context.

    Opis:
    The negative phrase: “the brood of vipers” has no equivalent in the OT, neither it is present in the extra-biblical writings. The first evangelist is the one who uses the epithet most often. However, Luke does use it as well (Lk 3:7). The paper is a study of narrative strategies of both Gospel-writers within the context of the OT and the rabbinic literature in order to identify one of the important narrative threads of the third Gospel. Instead of stigmatizing the particular faction of the Israel’s religious society, Luke employs the primordial Christian tradition to stress sinfulness of human nature, which in the past resulted in rejecting the good news of Jesus.

    Zachariah does not belong to the group of main protagonists of the New Testament. He is even hardly a main figure of Lucan two-volume work. And yet, he does play some important role in the narrative of Luke-Acts. Putting him into the first scene of Infant narrative and juxtaposing him with Mary, Mother of Jesus, are very clear signs of it. While the full picture of Zechariah is drawn in three consecutive scenes: annunciation in the Temple (Łk 1,5-25); birth of John (1,57-66) and Zechariah’s prophecy called „Benedictus” (1,67-80), two of his main features are especially elaborated: his priesthood and fatherhood. The paper gathers Lucan evidence on the matter showing that to the third evangelist Zechariah is a very special kind of father.
