The logistics costs are discussed: the components of costs and financial impact on the company account, the various structural sections, logistics strategies, operations and supply chains, operational and strategie decision-waste producers, brokers, logistics companies, waste management facilities and service segments of the market.

The development of research and methodology for the identification and quantification of the level and structure of logistics costs and their determinants within the world is very important to recognize the status as well as the trends of development of logistics costs. As a result, it is possible to make rational decisions in the field of logistics processes management and contemporary logistics potential creation. The article presents an overview and assessment of the current research on the diagnosis and quantification of the logistics costs in a global scale. Particular attention was paid to the categorization of the main dimensions of the used and developed research concepts, to the methodology and application of the research, and to the geographical location of the research undertaken and continued. Subsequently, the paper presents a comparison of the logistics costs level in several countries and their place within Logistics Performance Index (LPI) ranking, which is characterized by performance and “health” of the global logistics. The research results may confirm the hypothesis that the countries with the steadily growing interest in research and rationalization of logistics costs can reach a high position in the LPI ranking and vice versa. In the light of the issues outlined above the new emerging trends and challenges have been indicated.

An attempt of evaluation of level and structure of logistics costs in chosen great area agricultural enterprises was shown in the paper. The results of the research have shown, that great area agricultural enterprises have got high share costs of logistics both in total costs of production ? 42.2%, and in selling value of products and services ? 27.5%. Costs of physical flow of materials predominate in the structure of total logistics costs of great area agricultural enterprises ? 86.5%
W pracy podjęto próbę oszacowania wysokości i struktury kosztów logistycznych w wybranych wielkoobszarowych przedsiębiorstwach rolnych. Wyniki badań wykazały, iż przedsiębiorstwa rolne cechuje duży udział kosztów logistyki zarówno w stosunku do całkowitych kosztów produkcji - 42,2%, jak i w stosunku do wartości sprzedaży wyrobów i usług - 27,5%. W strukturze kosztów logistyki przedsiębiorstw rolnych zdecydowanie dominują koszty fizycznego przepływu materiałów - 86,5%.

Supply chain management (SCM) is a modern phenomenon in business practice and an important area of scientific discussions. In the literature it is not easy to find only one explanation of this subject because some scientists treat SCM as a separate concept, others as an expansion of the logistics function. The supply chain is a kind of modern business model that needs accurate management. To support the management process an the effective way, management accounting tools and methods may be applied. The aim of the article is to present the methods and tools of management accounting used for the measurement of costs and results in SCM. For this purpose, a survey was conducted among 40 selected enterprises in Poland. The findings indicate that on the one hand the studied organizations already use advanced management accounting tools and the methods providing information for SCM needs, on the other hand, they rarely apply them. This approach does not contribute to effective and holistic measurement of supply chain and its management.

Aim: Running a business is correlated with incurring costs. These are related to the management of resources in enterprises, which is why they must be constantly analysed and controlled. Based on cost information, certain management decisions are made. The aim of the article is to present basic issues concerning the functioning of distribution costs in an enterprise. Design/methodology/approach: An analysis of a company's activities in terms of distribution costs was conducted. In addition, the article defines the logistical indicators and measures of an enterprise and presents expenses incurred for training in specific years. Determinations: The article presents the allocation of primary distribution costs, which are divided into storage costs, transport costs, inventory maintenance costs, and administrative costs through conducting an interview in the enterprise. Originality/Value: The results of the study can be used in the company's strategic distribution decisions.

Logistyka ma za zadanie optymalizować system przepływów dóbr i informacji nie tylko wewnątrz danego podmiotu, ale także w całym łańcuchu dostaw. Wszystkie procesy związane z przepływami rzeczowo-informacyjnymi, do których należą planowanie, wdrażanie i monitorowanie, są w kręgu zainteresowania logistyki. Zadania realizowane w ramach całego systemu logistycznego oraz poszczególnych jego podsystemów generują koszty. Badanie kosztów funkcjonowania systemu logistycznego pozwala na kompleksowe spojrzenie na ich kształtowanie/formowanie w całym łańcuchu dostaw oraz w pojedynczych jego ogniwach.
Logistics costs is a category extremely significant costs in terms of profitability of economic activities, as indicated by their relatively high participation in relation to the income. Identification and analysis of logistics costs in enterprises causes significant problems for small and medium-sized enterprises especially, due to adopted method of economic actions recording. In this paper the authors present the implemented methodology and the results of research on the size and structure of logistics costs in small and medium enterprises in relation to the firm generated revenue. Results of analyzes have been compared to results of research in other countries. Then authors point on the methods of logistics costs accounting in the surveyed companies. Logistics costs not only significantly reduce profits, but because narrow exploration of the problem, it is also an important reservoir of enterprise competitiveness improvement. However, before managers take actions to improve the size and structure of logistics costs, in many cases they should deal with inappropriate, inaccurate, or even the lack of logistics costs accounting. Cognitive and analytical action in the area of logistics costs seems to be a first fundamental step in taking corrective actions in this area.

This paper presents a survey of empirical literature on the role of logistics in the agri-food sector. The main objective of the paper is to systemise and comprehensively describe the knowledge and information derived from a large number of sources about the specifics of food supply chains in terms of logistics, with particular emphasis on agricultural enterprises. Moreover, taking into account the increasing environmental, social and ethical demands concerning Agri-Food Supply Chains, the article formulates challenges for logistics and future trends in its development. In conclusion, it proposes a definition of logistics for the agri-food sector.

The ways of approaching the logistic problems need the use of some varied techniques and means, and the elaboration of a logistic project - which would aim the entire company - mobilises multiple personnel for a period of a few months and claims the intervention of logisticians within the logistic consultancy office, whom shall also act after putting the logistic project into practice. The accomplishment of any logistic wide change within the company needs an array of activities that may be grouped into: activities aiming for the improvement of complying with the contractual terms for an immediately subsequent month; activities having as aim the introduction of a logistic wide progress; activities having as result the accomplishment and application of some company logistic projects. Sposoby podejścia do problemów logistycznych wymagają wykorzystania różnorodnych technik i metod, a opracowanie projektu logistycznego - który bedzie dotyczył cal ego przedsiębiorstwa - mobilizuje pracowników do działania w kilkumiesięcznym okresie i wymaga interwencji logistycznej pracowników biura doradztwa logistycznego, którzy powinni działać także po wdrożeniu projektu. Realizacja wszelkich i szerokich zmian logistycznych w firmie wymusza szereg działań , które mogą być podzielone na: działania zmierzające do poprawy przestrzegania warunków umownych bezzwłocznie dla kolejnego miesiąca; działania mające na celu wprowadzenie postępu całej logistyki; działania mające efekty w postaci realizacji i stosowania niektórych projektów logistycznych w firmie.

Background: Estonian logistics market survey has been completed three times (during years 2007, 2012 and 2018), and this research reports development from the most recent survey concerning operating conditions and logistics costs as well as performance. Survey concerns manufacturing, trading and logistics service companies. Methods: Research data was gathered through an online survey executed during summer and early autumn of 2018. The survey received a total of 122 responses from manufacturing, trade and logistics service provision. Results of the study are compared to earlier years, and with the same approach completed Finnish logistics market survey. Results: Survey responses showed that Estonian logistics market has been experiencing overheating and the costs of logistics activities are clearly increasing. Logistics service providers have experienced negative effects resulting there of more than manufacturers or trading companies. Inventories and delivery times have increased, which has resulted in longer cash conversion cycles. Other than inventory and lead time related supply chain metrics have developed positively, indicating that the overall performance in Estonian logistics has remained high. Conclusions: Increase of logistics costs and inventories remain as main future challenge for Estonian logistics. In other regards, development has been good, and quality of e.g. logistics services and customs have increased and is at high level.
Wstęp: analiza estońskiego rynku logistycznego była realizowana trzy razy (w latach 2007, 2012 oraz 2018). Poniższa praca prezentuje najświeższe wyniki dotyczące warunków operacyjnych oraz kosztów logistycznych. Badanie obejmuje przedsiębiorstwa z branży przetwórczej, handlowej i logistycznej. Metody: Dane wejściowe zostały zebrane poprzez ankiety przeprowadzone on-line w okresie lato- wczesna jesień 2018. Uzyskana 122 odpowiedzi od przedsiębiorstw z branży przetwórczej, handlowej oraz logistycznej. Uzyskane wyniki zostały porównane z wcześniej uzyskanymi wynikami z poprzednich lat, przy zastosowaniu tej samej metodologii. Wyniki: Wyniki wskazują, że estoński rynek logistyczny wykazuje objawy przegrzania oraz wyraźny wzrost kosztów operacji logistycznych. Dostawcy usług logistycznych doświadczają wyraźniejszych negatywnych efektów w porównaniu z przedsiębiorstwami produkcyjnymi. Zaobserwowano wzrost zapasów oraz okresów dostaw, co skutkuje dłuższymi cyklami obiegu pieniężnego. Wnioski: Wzrost kosztów logistycznych pozostaje wyzwaniem przyszłości dla estońskich logistyków. Jednak rozwój i jakość usług logistycznych wzrasta i jest na wysokim poziomie.

The matter of vehicle selection, optimizing the order quantity or optimizing logistics costs is extensively discussed in both Polish and foreign literature. In numerous publications, the necessity of decision making in transport or in other related areas with respect to total logistics costs is addressed. Nevertheless, problems arising from the effect of vehicle selection on Economic Order Quantity (EOQ), while fully taking into account transport costs, fails to be mentioned. This paper presents a decision-making model for transport selection taking into consideration total logistics costs and a newly obtained formula for the economic order quantity which separates transport costs into fixed costs, variable costs dependent on the driving distance and operation time, as well as other variable costs. Analyses pertaining to the impact of cargo value and volumetric weight on vehicle selection and on Economic Order Quantity are also conducted.

Derived from the orientations of the company's general strategy, logistics focuses its generic orientations in compliance with the aimed performance level. The levels of services must be especially defined by integrating not only the market expectations, but also the performances of the competition. Therefore, an efficient logistic system is built by starting from a clear definition of its objectives with regard to service. The production of services which logistics is addressed to is not conveniently accomplished unless the aims have been previously set forth. (JEL: L80, D61, O21).
Z ogólnej strategii przedsiębiorstw wynika, że logistyka skupia się na kierunkach zgodnie z którymi ustalone są cele na poziomie wykonawczym. Poziom usług musi być szczególnie określony poprzez integrację nie tylko z oczekiwaniami rynku, ale także stosownie z wynikami konkurencji. Dlatego efektywny system logistyczny jest budowany począwszy od jasnego zdefiniowania celów w zakresie usług. Świadczenie usług powiązanych z logistyką nie jest więc łatwym przedsięwzięciem, chyba że uprzednio zostanie dobrze zorganizowane i ustalone.

The article concerns the identification of the logistics development and logistics performance as the important sector/field of the economy in the European Union countries. Taking into account an increasing significance of the logistics area for the development of the economy, the article presents an attempt to the benchmarking the all expenses in the modern logistics sector (the volume of logistics market) and its potential and performance in the EU countries. Depicted research and analysis allows formulation some observations, indicating the emerging tendencies and regularities in a tested range of the research.

This paper presents a diagnostic for the logistic activity of an industrial company in Tunisia. Our methodology is essentially based on the application of an Ishikawa diagram, the five Whys method, and the Logarithmic Mean Divisia Index for logistic costs. Our results show that the Coverage Rate of Logistics Costs is the determinant factor in the intensity of quarterly logistics costs, while the Economic Asset Turnover appears to be of secondary importance. The serious logistics costs are due to several problems currently detected. To reduce the growth of logistics costs, we must implement corrective actions, of three types: immediate operations, progressive operations, and projected operations. Thus, the improvement of the overall performance of the company must go with the reduction of logistics costs.

Identyfikacja kosztów logistyki jest przedsięwzięciem złożonym i trudnym do wykonania w praktyce. W konsekwencji zostały w nim przedstawione wymogi teoretyczno-praktyczne konieczne do spełnienia, aby wykorzystać w pełni wyniki poprawnej identyfikacji wielkości kosztów logistyki do racjonalizacji procesów logistycznych w przedsiębiorstwach.
The identification of logistics costs is a complex issue that is difficult to implement in practice. The efficiency of logistic processes is directly linked to the conduct of economic calculation in logistics and is a fundamental determinant of the design and implementation of these processes, including their management. As a consequence, determining the impact of logistics costs on contemporary logistics processes is associated with the identification of logistics costs properties, their evaluation and determination of the trends in the cost accounting, which is reflected in the content of the article and, consequently, there are presented theoretical and practical requirements to be met in order to make full use of the results to identify the correct amounts of logistics costs for the rationalization of logistics processes in enterprises.

The article presents the essence and role of costs. There characteristic of logistics costs was done. There were presented costs accounting systems in companies allowed by the Accounting Act. There were also presented simplified cost accounting methods both according to the account type and the places where the costs are incurred. There were discussed the full records of costs with the use of by type accounts and functional accounts The division and classification of logistics costs due to the nature of the business were shown. With the help of analytical accounts, the accounts for logistics costs were set up. Then the logistics cost accounting systems for commercial, service and manufacturing companies were featured with the use of analytical accounts of logistics. There were also presented the benefits for the company when it applies the analytical accounts of logistics costs.
