Opis:
Photovoltaics (PV) is becoming a mainstream electricity provider and the need for PV cells will spike compared to current demand. Solar power is based on obtaining electricity from solar radiation by using either photovoltaic cells or concentrated solar power (CSP). Both systems have different requirement to the area and advantages. However, there are several common disadvantages, which are related to the initial cost and regulatory issues that prevent investors from starting up such projects. Based on these premises the utilization of the solar power was examined in this study by highlighting the world's sustainable energy potential and investment statistics. Therefore research analysis related to the solar energy potential is presented as well. Although, the sustainable energy is the future of the world and requires slightly less amount of expense after installation, compared to conventional energy sources, the installation costs are the predominant factor of the utilization of the sustainable energy technologies. Furthermore, this study makes an overview of the world's solar power capacity today and makes prediction for the future. This study presents comprehensive market data together with forecasts for the short-run, while the role of PV is discussed considering the demand of energy.

Opis:
Intelligent transportations system is a complex information and communication technologies platform aimed for a better and cost effectiveness public transport organization. Our intent is to extend the basic of intelligent transportations system for the improvement of local transportation in marginal areas for suitable links with the existing network system. These tools are characterized by low cost if compared with the potential impact in improving direct and indirect transportation efficiency. The information and communication technologies mobile platform will have a double nature: on the one hand, it will be capable of gathering environmental data in real-time and at regular intervals serving as moving environmental city sensors. Information such as temperature, noise, humidity, gas levels, road conditions, and dust particle concentration can all be reported and analyzed. On the other hand, the platform will provide services to passengers such as internet/intranet access, through these connection resources, exploiting wisely a multi standard (3G cellular networks, WiFi networks) gateway. In exploring solutions to those challenges a balanced dual 3G mobile providers connectivity combined with a private WiFi network will be used for balanced data traffic and uninterruptable internet service for passengers. The same information and communication technologies platform is the aim of a basic intelligent transportations system platform and telematics fleet management.

Opis:
This work is devoted to modeling, analysis and simulation of a small-scale stand-alone wind/PV hybrid power generation system. Wind turbine is modelled and many parameters are taken into account, such as pitch angle, rotor diameter, wind speed, etc. The PV module is then modelled under nominal conditions such as cell temperature, solar radiation, etc. A MATLAB computer programs is developed to solve the mathematical model for small scale horizontal axis wind turbine and PV system. The experimental study has been conducted using a small scale wind turbine based on 500 W permanent magnet synchronous generator. A PV panel used has 36 monocrystalline silicon cells connected together in series having the ability to generate 50 W of rated power. Results show that the load consumes power from both systems but there is an excess and lack of power supply in some operating conditions, such as variation of solar radiation and wind speed.

Opis:
Reducibility is a parameter which describes the ability of oxygen, combined with iron, to be removed from iron ore sinters by a reducing gas used in a blast furnace, and is often characterized by a Fe²⁺ content in a sinter. In sinters, iron at Fe²⁺ valence can occur in various types of minerals, which differ in values of reducibility. The set of sinters with the reducibility from 0.63%/min to 1.49%/min, prepared in the different laboratory conditions, were examined in terms of their mineral composition. The quantitative dependences between the fractions of the individual mineral constituents of the sinters and the values of reducibility were sought. The increase of the reducibility was correlated with a decrease of the content of magnetite and a rise of the fraction of hematite.

Opis:
Chemical, magnetic, and phase composition analysis of deposits taken from sedimentation tank from oil plant in Argentina was carried out. Energy dispersive spectroscopy indicates iron as a main sediment component with the site dependent fraction ranging from 11% to 78% (weight percentage). Moreover, large fractions of sulfur (4%-33%), oxygen (8%-28%), calcium (1%-14%), and silicon (1%-11%) were found. The chemical analysis performed with wet chemical methods also indicated Fe as a main component (about 35%), additionally a large fraction ( ≈ 15%) of the sulfur and under 10% fractions of calcium ( ≈ 7%), carbon ( ≈ 6%), and silicon ( ≈ 5%) were found in the sample. The phase composition studies performed using X-ray diffraction showed magnetite - $Fe_3O_4$, goethite - α-FeOOH, lepidocrocite - γ-FeOOH, siderite - $FeCO_3$, and iron-sulfur compounds (mackinawite - FeS, stoichiometric FeS, greigite - $Fe_3S_4$) and other compounds like aragonite - $CaCO_3$, calcite - $CaCO_3$, anorthite - $CaAl_2Si_2O_8$, quartz - $SiO_2$ and barium sulphate $Ba(SO_3)_{0.3}(SO_4)_{0.7}$. Studies performed by the Mössbauer spectroscopy, confirmed presence of majority of compounds identified by X-ray diffraction. Magnetic AC susceptibility measurements show that magnetite is a main component of the studied deposit. High concentration of the magnetic compounds deposited in the sedimentation tank points to the advisability to install the magnetic device designed to support water treatment processes, i.e.: flocculation, coagulation, sedimentation, and filtration. This device could simultaneously inhibit microbiological and chemical corrosion.

Opis:
The piezoelectricity of biopolymers was discovered by E. Fukada for wood and bone in the fifties. This paper induced a number of studies on piezoelectric behaviour of bone collagen and tendon in wet and dry conditions as well as in many biological substances: polysaccharides, proteins, and biodegradable, optically active oriented films of poly(L-lactic acid). The implantation of this polymer induced the growth of bone, possibly because the ionic current caused by piezoelectric polarization stimulated the activity of bone cells. The phenomenon of bone growth has been discussed in terms of application of various substances, particularly modified collagen. The healing process of bone growth is still open both from the view of mechanism and biocompatibilities of materials used for this purpose. Fukada's group has a leading position in these studies. The fifty years of study of piezoelectricity in biomaterials resulted in many important observations and indication for further promising experimental and theoretical studies which will help to discover new ways and new materials for the tissue reconstruction.

Opis:
A new model was developed to predict the mechanical properties of St22 grade cold rolled deep drawing steel by gene expression programming. To obtain a dataset to find out the effect of reduction rate on the mechanical properties of cold rolled and galvanized steel sheet, an experimental program was constructed in the real production plant by keeping all other process parameters constant. The training and testing data sets of gene expression programming model were obtained from the test results. For gene expression programming model, mechanical properties (yield strength, ultimate tensile strength and elongation) before cold rolling, chemical composition, initial sheet thickness and reduction rate were used as independent input variables, while mechanical properties after cold rolling (yield strength, ultimate tensile strength and elongation) were used as dependent output variables. Before constructing the gene expression programming models for dependent variables, dataset was analyzed using the analysis of variance and statistically significant (P ≤ 0.1) independent parameters, i.e. initial sheet thickness, reduction rate, initial yield strength, initial tensile strength, elongation and Mn content were used in gene expression programming model. Different models were obtained for each dependent variable depending on the significant independent variables using the training dataset and accuracy of the best models was verified with testing data set. The predicted values were compared with experimental results and it was found that models are in good agreement with the experimentally obtained results.

Opis:
We present a new niche application of quasicrystalline powders that leads to a commercially successful development of polymer-matrix composites. The process is based upon selective laser sintering, which is one of the current most powerful additive manufacturing technologies in use in the mechanical industries. Characteristics of the materials produced, such as porosity, friction and wear against hard steel, are evaluated and compared to the state of the art. Insight into the production of metal-matrix composites, using a variant of the technology, is also given.
