Opis:
Electrolytes based on organic carbonate solvents of ethylene carbonate (EC) and diethyl carbonate (DEC) were prepared by using LiPF₆ as the Li-source. Nano sized Al₂O₃ (50 nm) was used as a reinforcing component in order to control corrosion and Li₂CO₃ formation. Corrosion of the Li foil anode and electrochemical tests were performed by using EC/DEC/LiPF₆ and nanocomposite EC/DEC/LiPF₆/5wt.% Al₂O₃ electrolytes. Electrochemical tests were performed in the swagelok cells by using Li foil anode and carbon air cathode electrodes. Structural tests were carried out by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), x-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman spectroscopy. Results revealed that incorporation of nano Al₂O₃ leads to a decrease of corrosion rate of Li anode and a small decrease in the capacity of the air cells.

Opis:
We describe here structure and temperature dependences of conductivity σ(T), the Seebeck coefficient α(T), thermal conductivity λ(T) and figure-of-merit ZT(T) in $Ca_3Co_4O_9$ ceramics, doped with Fe and Y, depending on compacting pressure (0.2 or 6 MPa) and temperature (300 < T < 700 K). It is shown that introduction of iron and yttrium to ceramics does not alter the crystalline structure of the material. Increasing the pressure in the compacting process before the additional diffusion annealing leads to a smaller-grained structure and increase σ and λ due to reducing of the synthesized samples porosity. The Seebeck coefficients of nanocomposite ceramics $Ca_3Co_{3.9}Fe_{0.1}O_9$ and $(Ca_{2.9}Y_{0.1})(Co_{3.9}Fe_{0.1})O_9$ have linear dependences on temperature is not changed after increase of compacting pressure. Electrical-to-heat conductivity ratio (σ/λ) for the samples compacted at high (6 GPa) pressure increases not more than 20-30% in comparison with ones compacted at low (0.2 GPa) pressure, whereby ZT is increased more than 50%. The main reason for this effect is samples porosity reduction with the compacting pressure increase.

Opis:
Ba(Ti_{1-x}Zr_{x})O₃ (x=0÷0.3) ceramics were prepared by the standard solid state reaction method and were sintered at 1450°C for 4 h. The structural and dielectric properties of the samples were studied. The phases formed in the ZrO₂ doped BaTiO₃ were tetragonal and of cubic symmetry. Increase in ZrO₂ content in the BaTiO₃ caused to increase of the lattice parameter and crystallite size of the perovskite structure. The evolution of the Raman spectra was studied for various compositions and the spectroscopic signature of the corresponding phase was determined. The scanning electron microscope was used to investigate the microstructure and surface morphology of the sintered samples. Scanning electron microscope observations revealed enhanced microstructural uniformity and retarded grain growth with increase of ZrO₂ content. Dielectric characteristics of ZrO₂ doped barium titanate were studied using a Hioki 3532-50 LCR meter in the frequency range of 1 kHz-1 MHz. It is found that the dielectric constant (ε_{r}) increases while the dielectric loss (tan δ) decreases with increase in zirconium oxide content (x<0.3).

Opis:
Effects of strontium doping on electrical properties of gadolinium-doped ceria were investigated. The $Ce_{0.8-x}Gd_{0.2}Sr_{x}O_{2-δ}$ (0.0 ≤ x ≤ 0.1) compositions were prepared by sol-gel method and sintered at 1300°C for 8 h, the bulk densities were over 93% of theoretical density. These results were consistent with scanning electron microscope. The crystallite size of these materials was determined using the X-ray powder diffractometer and the sizes range from 19.4 nm to 24.4 nm. From the experimental results, it was observed that the composition $Ce_{0.8-x}Gd_{0.2}Sr_{x}O_{2-δ}$ (x=0.02) exhibits higher conductivity (23.6× $10^{-3}$ S $cm^{-1}$) and minimum activation energy (0.83 eV) at 700°C. This composition is thus a potential candidate for use as electrolyte applications in intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cells.
