Opis:
The goal of this work was theoretical and experimental study of micro- and macroscopic mechanical fields of 6061 aluminum alloy induced by the asymmetric rolling process. Two-scale constitutive law was used by implementing an elasto-plastic self-consistent scheme into the Finite Element code (ABAQUS/Explicit). The model was applied to study the asymmetric rolling. Such a deformation process induces heterogeneous mechanical fields that were reproduced by the model thanks to the crystallographic nature of constitutive law used. The studied material was processed, at room temperature, in one rolling pass to 36% reduction. The resulting material modifications were compared with predictions of the two-scale model. Namely, the calculated textures were compared with experimental ones determined by X-ray diffraction. Especially, detailed quantitative analysis of texture variation across the sample thickness was done. The influence of this texture variation on plastic anisotropy was studied. The advantages of asymmetric rolling process over symmetric one were identified. The main benefits are a nearly homogeneous crystallographic texture, reduced rolling normal forces and homogenization of plastic anisotropy through the sample thickness.

Opis:
In aviation and light vehicles, aluminum plates are often used instead of heavy shields as ballistic shields. The standard shrapnel was used in the analysis due to the fact that under hazardous conditions, the shrapnel destruction occurs more often than directly with a bullet. Analyses were performed in which the initial velocity and the angle of impact were the variables. The material of the aluminum plate (ballistic shield) with a thickness of 1 mm was divided into three-dimensional C3D4 tetragonal elements. The calculations were performed using the Johnson-Cook model for the impact at an adjustable velocity from 25 m/s to 55 m/s every 10 m/s and impact angle set between 0° and 45° in increments of 15°. Stress maps that allow observation of the plate degradation areas were placed in the plate. It was found that the penetration of the ballistic panel by the fragment under simulated conditions occurs at the initial velocity of this fragment greater than 25 m/s. The fragment simulating a projectile, hitting at a velocity of 35 m/s at an angle of not more than 15° perforates this panel. At an impact velocity of 45 m/s, perforation occurred at an impact angle of up to 30°. A further increase of the fragment’ velocity of impact on the plate resulted in its perforation even at the greatest impact angle.

Opis:
This work addresses to joining aluminum alloy AA6061 to carbon steel AISI 1006 sheets using the friction spot joining technique. The steel sheets were pre-holed and threaded with an internal M6 thread. The joining process was carried out by extruding the aluminum through the steel hole and thread using a rotating tool with friction between the tool and aluminum. Three process parameters were used: pre-heating time, rotating speed and plunging depth of the tool, with four levels for each parameter. The results indicated that the two materials joined by a micro-scale mechanical interlock at an interface line of a width ranged between 0.7 to ~ 2.5 mm. The joint’s shear force reached a minimum and maximum value of 2000 and 2500 N, respectively. The plunging depth was the most effective factor affecting the amount of the extruded aluminum and the joint’s shear force.
