Перехід до ринкових відносин викликав глибокі перетворення у сфері туризму.В результаті скасовано централізовану систему управління туризмом, державну фінансову підтримку розвитку регіональних туристичних центрів, порушено основи взаємодії різних регіонів у створенні і просуванні на споживчий ринок туристичного продукту.
