    Opis:
    Wśród mniejszości narodowych, które są obecne w Polsce w XXI wieku, coraz liczniejsi stają się Chińczycy, wcześniej niemal nieobecni. Zaprezentowane w artykule dane obrazują dynamikę chińskiej imigracji, zwłaszcza w okresie po wstąpieniu Polski do Unii Europejskiej. Obecnie Chińczycy stali się już siódmą grupą narodowościową w Polsce, a tempo wzrostu ich liczebności ustępuje tylko Ukraińcom. W artykule omówione zostały również formy imigracji, formalny status przyjezdnych oraz niezbyt rozwinięte formy organizacji chińskich imigrantów.
    Amongst the ethnic minorities residing in Poland in the 21st century, Chinese are becoming more numerous, a group that up until now had been virtually non-existent. The data presented in the article offers an image of the dynamics of Chinese immigration, particularly after Poland’s accession to the European Union. The Chinese community is presently the 7th biggest in Poland, and the pace at which it is growing is only surpassed by Ukrainians. The author also discusses the types of immigration, the formal status of the migrants residing in Poland, as well as the under-developed forms of organisation of Chinese immigrants.

    Opis:
    China’s economic transformation process, which started in 1978 under the banner of the Four Modernizations, is the deepest transformation in the long history of this country. The Communist Party of China carries out modernization in some areas, while limiting changes in others. Economic development has been undoubtedly impressive, but also unbalanced. It created problems such as inequality and social contrasts between urban and rural areas, as well as between coast and interior provinces, the division of the society into different categories of citizens, and corruption. There is also the question about the relationship between economic development and democratization. The article is an introduction to explain these phenomena.

    The paper analyzes media coverage of Hong Kong’s anti-government protest movement triggered by the proposal of amendments to the extradition law in 2019 as presented in the “People’s Daily”, the main online English-language state media in the People’s Republic of China. This article focuses in particular on the analysis of the narrative related to the international aspects of the protests, i.e., on descriptions of foreign attempts to influence the internal affairs of Hong Kong and China, undermining the principle of “one country, two systems”, or attempts to conduct the so-called color revolution. The way the protests are presented in the “People’s Daily” is therefore interesting as an example of a narrative related to the protection of China’s territorial integrity and defense against foreign interference in China’s internal affairs, especially in the context of Beijing’s pursuit of the full unification of the country.

    Opis:
    Controversies, sometimes bitter controversies, are an inherent element of international relations. Conflicting interests, different values, overlapping spheres of influences… all this make dispute settlement mechanisms crucial elements of international system. Searching for cooperation mechanisms that may help in overcoming existing controversies in Asia is the main topic of this monograph. The monograph is based on the case studies in which authors analyse disagreements as well as collaborations between different actors in Asia. They are chosen different point of views that might be roughly divided into two groups. The first set of authors tries to look at regional or even internal problems that have international impact. The second group gives an outlook on the controversies linked to rising global presence of Asian countries, in particular China.
