- Opis:
- The Warsaw Society of Friends of Learning (1800–1832) united Polish intellectual élite after the partitions of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Its members were interested in history and languages of Slaves, then Slavophil ideas appeared among them. It had also political importance. It was considered, that Russia can help to get back polish lands, which was controlled by Austria and Prussia. The members of Society had great expectancies, which were connected with the person of Alexander I, Emperor of Russia (1801–1825). In 1815 he became the King of the Kingdom of Poland. The author of the political Pan-Slav program was Stanisław Staszic (1755–1826), the longtime president of The Society. He formulated it in his work Myśli o równowadze politycznej Europie (The Reflections about Political Balance in Europe). He thought that Russia must make Pan-Slavic Federation.
