    Geneza wznoszenia zamków na ziemiach polskich sięga swymi korzeniami okresu XII-XIV wieku. Poszczególni władcy i książęta likwidowali dotychczasowe drewniano-ziemne bądź kamienne warownie, budując ceglane rezydencje – zamki, które miały pełnić liczne funkcje, nie tylko obronne. W artykule dokonano przeglądu najważniejszych zamków powstałych na Mazowszu z inicjatywy książęcej linii Piastów mazowieckich. Przybliżono fakty związane z genezą, funkcją i znaczeniem poszczególnych siedzib książęcych, a także zmianami, jakie zachodziły w ciągu stuleci. Przedstawiono krótki rys historyczny Zamku Ujazdowskiego i Zamku Królewskiego w Warszawie oraz zamków w Płocku, Ciechanowie, Czersku, Sochaczewie, Liwie i Radomiu. Omówiona została rola tych rezydencji, zarówno w przeszłości, jak i obecnie.
    The genesis of raising castles on the Polish territory has its roots in the 12th -14th centuries. Individual sovereigns and princes were demolishing the then-existing wood and earthen or stone forts, building brick residences - castles, which were to perform numerous functions, not just the defensive one. This article reviews the most important castles in the Mazovia region, built on the initiative of the princely line of the Mazovian Piasts. Origins, function and meaning of the princely residences are presented, as well as the changes, which occurred over the centuries. A brief historical sketch about Ujazdowski Castle and the Royal Castle in Warsaw, as well as castles in Płock, Ciechanów, Czersk, Sochaczew, Liw and Radom are presented. The role of these residences, both in the past and present, is discussed.

    Opis:
    The purpose of this paper is to present a biography of Jan Czochralski – one of the world famous scientist of the twentieth century. His main discovery was a method of obtaining single crystals or monocrystalline; the method is nowadays used for production of VLSI/ ULSI circuits. After the Second World War, Czochralski was accused of collaboration with the Germans. The accusation was groundless. In 2019, the Czochralski Method received the IEEE Milestone Award.
    Artykuł ma na celu przedstawienie sylwetki Jana Czochralskiego, światowej sławy naukowca XX w. Jego głównym osiągnięciem było wynalezienie metody uzyskiwania monokryształów, do dziś stosowanej w produkcji układów scalonych wielkiej skali integracji. Po zakończeniu II wojny światowej Czochralski całkowicie bezpostawnie został oskarżony o kolaborację z Niemcami. W 2019 r. the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers przyznał metodzie Czochralskiego najwyższej rangi miano Milestone (Kamień Milowy).

    Artykuł dotyczy problematyki budowy systemu samorządu terytorialnego w II i III RP. Przedstawiono zarys rozwoju władzy lokalnej jako formy administracji publicznej w Europie końca XIX w. i początku XX w. Na tym tle omówiono pokrótce sytuację w tym zakresie na ziemiach polskich pod zaborami przed odzyskaniem niepodległości. Następnie opisano proces legislacyjny prowadzący do ukonstytuowania administracji samorządowej II i III RP, z uwzględnieniem uwarunkowań politycznych i społecznych obydwu okresów. Na koniec podsumowano przebieg tworzenia systemu władzy terytorialnej w obu przypadkach w ujęciu komparatywnym.
    The article raises the issues of building a local government system in the Second and the Third Republic of Poland. In the introduction, the author presents the development of local government as a form of public administration in Europe at the end of the nineteenth and in the early twentieth centuries. Against this background, he briefly discusses the situation in this respect in the Polish territories before Poland regained independence. In the following parts, the legislative process leading to the constitution of the local government administration of the Second and Third Republic of Poland is described, taking into account the political and social conditions of both periods. Finally, the course of creating the system of territorial authority is summarised in both cases from a comparative perspective.

    Opis:
    The analysis of the three, main, heuristics approaches outlining the order picking routes in a warehouse, is a subject of this paper. Order picking is the most laborious warehouse process and it contributes to 55% - 65% of all the costs of operations performed in a warehouse. The most time consuming order picking activity, according to the research, is transfer which is closely related to, adopted by a given company, system of transfer and movement between the points of taking the order, places of pick up, and points of release. Even the small shifts of commodities, on short distances, play a very important part in modern dynamic economy. On the basis of a simple model of a warehouse owned by an authentic company, a computer program was created, which helps in simulation of the three, main heuristics approaches to outline the routes, so as to make the order picking process as short as possible.

    The intensification of agricultural production is one of the factors determining economic development. Increasing mechanisation and use of fertilisers in agriculture lead to higher yields, but at the same time they can pose a threat to the environment. The overuse of chemical fertilisers contributes to increased concentration of nutrients in agricultural runoff. One of such areas is the Szreniawa River catchment, the study area located in the southern part of Poland. In this catchment, intensive mostly mechanical ploughing is applied in, for instance, vegetable production. The area has loess soils, which with intensive ploughing are susceptible to erosion. The study aims to determine changes in the quality of flowing waters against the background of agricultural production and land-use characteristics. Surface waters were classified as class II and occurred at all analysed points. The highest concentrations of N-NO3 , N-NH 4 and P-PO 4 were found at a point in the middle of the catchment (lower part of research area). There, the lowest concentrations were recorded in 2018, which was related to the amount of precipitation during the growing season. On the other hand, the volume of plant and animal production closely correlated with the quality of surface water in the area. This was also confirmed by the land use structure. In conclusion, intensive agricultural production, mainly in terms of plough tillage causes significant hazards associated with soil erosion especially on agriculturally sensitive soils, although it provides good yields.
