In seiner Novelle Die Reisenden problematisiert Ludwig Tieck nicht nur den ‚Wahnsinn‘ an sich und seine zeitgenössische Wahrnehmung, sondern auch die Beziehung zwischen Narren und Gesellschaft. Dies gelingt ihm einerseits durch das heterogene Ensemble der Irrenhausinsassen, andererseits durch die Konzentration auf die ‚krankhafte Romantik‘ Raimunds. Während ersteres vor allem dazu dient, die Grenze zwischen ‚gesund‘ und ‚krank‘ aufzulösen und damit Gesellschaftskritik zu üben, wird Raimunds Weg zurück in die Natur in seinem Heilungspotential geschildert.
In his novella Die Reisenden, Ludwig Tieck problematises ‘madness’ per se and its contemporary conception and the relationship between ‘fools’ and society. He achieves this on the one hand throug the heterogeneous ensemble of the asylum inmates and, on the other hand, by focusing on Raimund’s ‘pathological romanticism’. While the former serves, above all, to dissolve the boundary between ‘sane’ and ‘insane’ and thus to criticise social conceptions, Raimund’s path back to nature is portrayed in its healing potential. - Źródło:
