Opis:
Occurrence of acanthocephalans in Perca fluviatilis L. from the Długa river (Mazowiecka Lowland, Poland). Material was collected from fish caught in the Długa river near Halinów (Mazowiecka Lowland). One hundred forty eight perches Perca fluviatilis L., 1875 were examined during the study period (January 2003-March 2004). Seventy one (47.97%) out of all caught fishes were infected with three species of the acanthocephalans: Acanthocephalus lucii (Müller, 1776), Acanthocephalus anguillae (Müller, 1780) and Metechinorhynchus salmonis Müller, 1780. Most fishes (40.54%) were infected by Acanthocephalus lucii, much less infection was noted with Acanthocephalus anguillae – 4.73% and with Metechinorhynchus salmonis – 3.38%. The highest prevalence and intensity of infection with the three species of acanthocephalans were recorded in spring and summer, the lowest – in autumn and winter. The collected data allowed to analyse the occurrence of acanthocephalans in particular parts of alimentary tract of fish. Two species: A. anguillae, M. salmonis were found only in the middle part of the intestine, while A. lucii were noted in each part of the alimentary tract. The highest number of individuals of A. lucii was noted in middle intestine, the lowest number was found in pyloric appendices and stomach. At the high intensity of infection the parasites were found in all parts of the alimentary tract, nevertheless with clear preference to the middle intestine.

Opis:
A total of 142 individuals of Gasterosteus aculeatus L. and 22 individuals of Pungitius pungitius (L.) from several areas of the coastal waters of the Gdańsk Bay both brackish- and freshwater were examined for parasites. The survey was carried out within 1988-1991. Six parasite species, namely: Gyrodactylus arcuatus, Apatemon gracilis, Sphaerostomum bramae, Phyllodistomum folium, Neoechinorhynchus rutili, and Argulus foliaceus were recovered from sticklebacks caught in freshwater habitats; while the other 4 parasites: Apatemon annuligerum, Bothriocephalus sp., Schistocephalus solidus, Proteocephalus percae occurred only in fish from brackish-water areas. Additional 5 parasites: Trichodina domerguei, Diplostomum pungitii, Diplostomum spathaceum, Rhaphidascaris acus, and Thersitina gasterostei were recorded in fishes from both habitats.

Opis:
The examinations were made in 38 birds from 10 species and 5 families. Among 29 parasitic species, 10 belonged to Trematodes, 17 to cestodes and 2 to Nematodes. Podiceps cristatus showed for the first time the presence of Contracoecum spiculigerum (Rud., 1809) and Dicheilonema acutum (Diesing, 1851). It is noteworthy that the population of Ligula intestinalis, detected in this bird, showed individual differences in the shape of the head, length and width of the strobilae.

Opis:
Background. The aim of the study was to examine the parasite fauna of rodents living in natural environment, but in close contact with human seats (small village at the area of the natural big forest). Material and methods. 169 rodents from family Arvicolidae and Muridae were examined. The material comprised: Microtus arvalis -5 specimens, Mus musculus - 131, Apodemus silvaticus - 9, Apodemus flavicollis - 8, Apodemus agrarius – 14 and Micromys minutus - 2 specimens, collected between April 2003 and July 2004. Results. The examination of some internal organs (alimentary tract, liver, lungs, kidneys, heart, body cavity) revealed the occurence of 8 helminth species: 3 species of Cestoda (Paranoplocephala macrocephala, Hymenolepis diminuta, Taenia taeniaeformis) and 5 species of Nematoda (Heterakis spumosa, Aspiculuris tetraptera, Syphacia obvelata, Heligmosomoides polygyrum, Mastophorus muris), all in the alimentary tract (including liver). The helminth fauna of every rodent species was determined, as well as seasonal dynamics of their frequency. It was stated that only the species which realize the complex life cycle undergo some seasonal fluctuations of their abundance. Additionally the distribution of particular helminth species along the alimentary tract of their hosts was described.
