We consider join-semilattices with 1 where for every element p a mapping on the interval [p,1] is defined; these mappings are called sectional mappings and such structures are called semilattices with sectional mappings. We assign to every semilattice with sectional mappings a binary operation which enables us to classify the cases where the sectional mappings are involutions and / or antitone mappings. The paper generalizes results of [3] and [4], and there are also some connections to [1].

Opis:
Cross-border geological mapping is essential for proper understanding of the Poland’s border areas geological setting and their mineral potential. Close co-operation with geological institutions of the neighbouring countries is, therefore, necessary. The joint detailed geological mapping of the cross-border areas was difficult until 1990 because of security reasons. The whole Polish Geological Institute’s mapping activity concentrated, until that time, on very general cartographic presentations of the regional, European or world-wide geology, tectonics, palaeogeography, mineral perspectives, and so on, in the adequately small scales. Since the early 1990s the Institute started to develop more systematic, geophysical, geological and geo-environmental mapping of the common cross-border areas with the national geological surveys and other geological institutions of the neighbouring countries. The most systematic and most detailed cartographic surveys have been carried out so far with the German geological surveys. The Czech, Slovak, and Lithuanian surveys cooperated also very actively. A great cartographic effort has been made on the Baltic Sea geology, as well. Geological mapping co-operation with the Ukrainian, Belarusian, and Russian institution is eventually slowly building up, too. This paper presents the up-to-date results of the joint Polish Geological Institute and the neighbouring geological surveys activities in the geological mapping of the cross-border areas, as well as some current, mapping related activities.

The sales market requires both the highest quality of offered goods and satisfactory prices for the buyer. In addition to the reliability of the important aspects are also the time of order fulfillment, reliability, readiness to act around the clock, and service of sold goods after their sale. In the production and confection of conveyor belts, the priority is a customer who, having strictly defined product requirements, also has individually focused goals. To meet these aspects, you need to look after the product both during its production and after. The products of this industry are specific, so that they can be used, after sales service is often required to be installed at the customer and possible actions to maintain their good condition during operation. The article analyzes selected production processes of transmission belts to identify disturbances. The analysis uses the value stream mapping method. Then, improvement methods were proposed.

The protection and preservation of good groundwater quality is of critical importance worldwide, nowadays. Increasing urbanization, economic development and agricultural activities, combined with limited precipitation contribute to the quantitative and qualitative degradation of groundwater resources, especially in the eastern Mediterranean region. For this purpose, a series of actions are implemented including groundwater vulnerability mapping that can depict prone to pollution aquifers which need protection and/or restoration measures. In this study, the efficiency of two well-known methodologies (COP and DRASTIC) for groundwater vulnerability and pollution risk mapping was assessed in the Sperchios river basin. The vulnerability and pollution risk maps of the two methodologies were spatially compared to each other and the observed similarities and differences were discussed and explained. The output of the study shows that in the particular geoenvironmental conditions DRASTIC method performs better than the COP, particularly in the lowland, porous media aquifer.

Opis:
Aerial photographs are a source of geological information that may be unobtainable elsewhere. If the fullest use is to be made of this information for the purpose of geological mapping, there must be a planned integration of the photogeological work with the field and laboratory investigations. The appearance of the first satellites for civil purposes on the beginning of the 1970s (such as ERTS – Landsat series), of most land areas of the Earth has provided new opportunity for photogeologists. Many areas can now be studied and mapped geologically for which neither adequate maps nor vertical aerial photograps were available. The advantages of the present satellite systems and examples of their application by specialists of the Polish Geological Institute are presented in this paper. Nowadays, it is practically impossible to imagine performing geological mapping without application of remote sensing data and analysis. Development of new technologies is very fast and new borne techniques are coming like permanent scatter interferometry, laser scanning etc. However, we should always remember, that they are only very useful tools to help geologists in their field mapping art and practise.

Habitat mapping has become an increasingly important application of remote sensing. Active and passive acoustic techniques have greatly improved in the last decade, and their use extends into other spheres to show their economic, legal, political and environmental benefits. This paper reviews the current status of acoustic techniques for habitat mapping. Traditional techniques include echosounders, multibeam systems and sidescan sonars. Passive techniques are also presented, along with geoacoustic inversion and acoustic daylight imaging. The developments in new techniques such as non-linear acoustics, synthetic aperture and interferometry are reviewed. Some emerging techniques are showing increasing potential for habitat mapping, and bistatic sonar, parametric SAS and 3-D chirp profiling are briefly reviewed. Leading international programmes are now making use of these techniques, most often in combination, and their results inform the recommendations for future uses and desired technological developments.

It is well known that a power of a right invertible operator is again right invertible, as well as a polynomial in a right invertible operator under appropriate assumptions. However, a linear combination of right invertible operators (in particular, their sum and/or difference) in general is not right invertible. It will be shown how to solve equations with linear combinations of right invertible operators in commutative algebras using properties of logarithmic and antilogarithmic mappings. The used method is, in a sense, a kind of the variables separation method. We shall obtain also an analogue of the classical Fourier method for partial differential equations. Note that the results concerning the Fourier method are proved under weaker assumptions than these obtained in [6] (cf. also [7, 8, 11]).

Let X be a Leibniz algebra with unit e, i.e. an algebra with a right invertible linear operator D satisfying the Leibniz condition: D(xy) = xDy + (Dx)y for x,y belonging to the domain of D. If logarithmic mappings exist in X, then cosine and sine elements C(x) and S(x) defined by means of antilogarithmic mappings satisfy the Trigonometric Identity, i.e. $[C(x)]^2 + [S(x)]^2 = e$ whenever x belongs to the domain of these mappings. The following question arises: Do there exist non-Leibniz algebras with logarithms such that the Trigonometric Identity is satisfied? We shall show that in non-Leibniz algebras with logarithms the Trigonometric Identity does not exist. This means that the above question has a negative answer, i.e. the Leibniz condition in algebras with logarithms is a necessary and sufficient condition for the Trigonometric Identity to hold.

Opis:
Nigeria has a vast array of both natural and cultural tourist attractions. The country’s tourism industry, however, remains grossly underdeveloped, and the tourism resources are largely untapped. Hence, the tourism sector of the economy is yet to contribute significantly to the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP). One major factor that is responsible for the nation’s current lacklustre performance of the tourism sector is the poor state of tourism packaging and promotion, which, amongst other things is caused by the lack of appropriate tourist maps. Tourism mapping is a key component of tourism planning, development, promotion and management. For Nigeria to drastically and significantly improve the fortunes of her tourism sector, the production, circulation and use of accurate, current and comprehensive tourist maps and atlases must be vigorously pursued. To ensure sustainable tourism mapping and in line with global best practices, the country needs to adopt a Geoinformation technology-based, Internet-compatible multimedia cartographic approach. The author of this paper, therefore, examines the current state of tourism industry and tourism mapping in Nigeria. Some of the hiccups to tourism mapping in the country are identified. The implications of the present poor state of tourism mapping on tourism planning, development, promotion and management in the country are briefly considered. The author makes a strong case for the adoption of a multimedia cartographic approach to tourism mapping in Nigeria. A case of mapping wildlife parks in Nigeria is presented to demonstrate the prospects of effective multimedia tourism mapping of the country. Furthermore, the author identifies and discusses various existing resources in the country that could be harnessed for efficient and sustainable production, distribution and use of multimedia tourist maps/atlases, using Geographical Information Technologies (GIT). Some potential challenges to effective GIT-based tourism mapping in the country as well as how such challenges could be overcome, are equally discussed. Similarly, a model for Web-based, multimedia tourism mapping using GIT is presented. With clear vision, the right policy instrument, mandate, legislation, funding and coordination in place, the current challenges to effective and sustainable tourism mapping in Nigeria can easily be surmounted.

The security environment is evolving dynamically and analysis of is the task of work security managers. To analyse the security environment we need different data. There are currently online databases published on the publicly accessible data warehouse, as well as web map servers, often in the form of eg. Underlying topographical data used for analysing. Another source of data is the Statistical Office and other authorities or police. Spatial analyses often provide a different view of the monitored phenomenon. Crime mapping is a valuable source of data for the analysis of the security environment. An advantage can be considered the identification of risk areas as well as the monitoring of changes in the extent and location of risk places. The second advantage is the ability to focus only on the analysis of selected offenses that can help, for example, in the monitoring of selected social groups. Crime mapping results are important sources of data for comprehensive analysis of the security environment at the city level. This is confirmed by the results of mapping crime in Kosice for the years 2010 to 2015 presented in this article.

Per-pixel extrusion mapping consists of creating a virtual geometry that is stored in a texture over a polygon model without increasing its density. There are four types of extrusion mapping; namely, basic extrusion, outward extru sion, beveled extrusion, and chamfered extrusion. These different techniques produce satisfactory results in the case of plane surfaces; however, when it is about curved surfaces, a silhouette is not visible at the edges of the extruded forms on the 3D surface geometry, as they not take the curvatures of the 3D meshes into account. In this paper, we present an improvement that consists of using curved ray-tracing to correct the silhouette problem by combining per-pixel extrusion-mapping techniques with a quadratic approximation that is computed at each vertex of a 3D mesh.

The author presents a geospatial analysis of the Peru-Chile Trench located in the South Pacific Ocean by the Generic Mapping Tool (GMT) scripting toolset used to process and model data sets. The study goal is to perform geomorphological modelling by the comparison of two segments of the trench located in northern (Peruvian) and southern (Chilean) parts. The aim of the study is to perform automatic digitizing profiles using GMT and several scripting modules. Orthogonal cross-section profiles transecting the trench in a perpendicular direction were automatically digitized, and the profiles visualized and compared. The profiles show variations in the geomorphology of the trench in the northern and southern segments. To visualize geological and geophysical settings, a set of the thematic maps was visualized by GMT modules: free-air gravity anomaly, geoid, geology and bathymetry. The results of the descriptive statistical analysis of the bathymetry in both segments show that the most frequent depths for the Peruvian segment of the Peru-Chile Trench range from -4,000 to -4,200 (827 recorded samples) versus the range of -4,500 to -4,700 m for the Peruvian segment (1,410 samples). The Peruvian segment of the trench is deeper and its geomorphology steeper with abrupt slopes compared to the Chilean segment. A comparison of the data distribution for both segments gives the following results. The Peruvian segment has the majority of data (23%) reaching 1,410 (-4,500 m to -4,700 m). This peak shows a steep pattern in data distribution, while other data in the neighbouring diapason are significantly lower: 559 (-4,700 m to -5,000 m) and 807 (-4,200 m to -4,400 m). The Chilean segment has more unified data distribution for depths of -6,000 m to -7,000 m. This paper presents GMT workflow for the cartographic automatic modelling and mapping deep-sea trench geomorphology.

Asudeh and Giorgolo (2012) offer an analysis of optional and derived arguments that does away with argument structure as a separate level of representation within the architecture of Lexical Functional Grammar in favour of encoding much of this information in a connected semantic structure. This simplifies the architecture in many ways, but leaves open the question of the mapping between thematic roles, arguments, and grammatical functions (traditionally explored under the umbrella of Lexical Mapping Theory; LMT: Bresnan and Kanerva 1989). In this paper, I offer a formalisation of these mapping relations, drawing on a modern reanalysis of traditional LMT (Kibort 2007), while also continuing Asudeh and Giorgolo’s (2012) quest to evacuate as much information as possible out of individual lexical entries and into cross-categorising templates (Dalrymple et al. 2004; Crouch et al. 2012).

Opis:
Background: Game scenario is an important factor for achieving player enjoyment; consisting a key business success factor. Additionally, the production of early design artifacts is crucial for the success of the development process. However, representing scenarios is a non-trivial task: (a) multiple aspects of the game need to be visualized; and (b) there is a plethora of representation approaches, out of which the game designer needs to select from. Aim: The goal of this work is to provide a panorama of the current scenario representation approaches, to aid game engineers in selecting the most fitting scenario representation approach and understand the existing designing options. Method: We have performed a Systematic Mapping Study, using 4 digital libraries, since the main goal can be achieved through study classification. By following an established search and filtering process, we have identified 717 articles, and analyzed in detail 95. Results: Diagrams are the most common generic approach to represent scenario; Game story is the most usual part of the scenario being represented; Characters are the most common component; and Transitions are the most usual connectors. Conclusion: Researchers may get useful information for empirically investigating several game engineering aspects; whereas game engineers can efficiently select the most fitting approach.

Opis:
The purpose of the paper is the identification and description of factors affecting the process of sacralisation as well as the implementation of theoretical concepts in a case study of the Baltic city of Gdynia. The time range of the research is limited to the postwar period (1945–2013). It has been assumed that the formation of any religious landscape occurs under two main circumstances: (1) the need to express faith and (2) the opportunity to do it. The former is an internal factor and depends on religiosity, while the latter is closely related to politics, environment, economy and social life. A detailed scheme was constructed around this statement in the form of a mapping sentence. The research is based on qualitative measures which include field observation, analysis of source documents, and an analysis and criticism of bibliographic sources. Visual documentation and participant observation have also been used. There are two main conclusions coming out of this paper. Although any religious landscape is a mixture of different factors, by the 1980s the sacralisation of Gdynia was determined mainly by political factors, and later by economic and cultural ones. Furthermore, for three decades some tendencies, typical also for the whole country, have also been recognised in Gdynia: monumentalism, privatisation of sacred sites and the “John-Paul-the-Second-isation” of public spaces.

Opis:
In this paper we present an indoor mapping algorithm based on sonar sensor. The overall object detection and mapping experiment is based on small scale local spatial information which has been accomplished in a 2D geometrical map. Considering all drawbacks and pluses of ultrasonic sensors, we present an innovative mapping approach, applying the Otsu’s method and Hit-or-Miss for sonar-data processing. The collected data are treated as a gray-scale picture. For its binarization, we applied the well-known for vision-based systems threshold calculation. Then also the morphology effect, what rises additionally the mapping accuracy, as is shown at the end of the paper. The robot is based on the education construction set LEGO Mindstorms EV3 intelligent brick on ev3dev - a Debian Linux-based operating system and Python 2.0 have been used for programming. The results are evaluated and compared with the real space.
