When analyzing the reasons of the previous programs`failure, we usually focus on the following questions: timeliness of the program results obtaining, keeping to the budget frames, and the results compliance with the quality parameters specified. In other cases, the analysis confirms that the program and the team’s activity have been successfully finished, the payments to suppliers completed and the interested persons and users quite satisfied. It is much less frequently when the question of selecting the most pertinent area of changes is raised, as well as thequestion of readiness of the organization for the changes to occur due to the implementation of the program. The process of introducing a program, that assure changes, into organization activities is the subject of this article. The objectives: development of an instrument for analyzing the possibility of implementation of changes into the work of an organization and for evaluating the intensity of resistance to changes. The task is to analyze factors having an impact on the results and possibility of introducing changes within an organization, to consider and to ground the main problems and the sources of resistance to the changes. In our research, we used such methods as logical summarizing, analysis and synthesis, structural analysis. The results: a model of calculating the resistance to changes has been developed. This model takes account of the program implementation intensity and allows determining the total level of resistance to changes after successful completion of the program. The research showed that the total level can be both high and low, as the organization personnel, especially its top management, may not recognize the need for changes, or may strive for achieving stability of the company situation. In the course of the research, the basic features of the changes introducing programs have been defined and the basic problems appearing at an organization presented, particularly, those relating to its personnel. The problems have been classified as relating to the organization top management and directly relating to the team working on the program. Conclusions: the instruments foranalyzing the implementation of the program of changes or transformations within an organization have been obtained. The results achieved in the research bring the statement that if the resistance to changes is stronger than the organizational potential of a company, any benefits from the implementation of the program are leveled down. Therefore, the reduction of the general resistance to changes within an organization isneeded first, and only after this, any programs and projects can be implemented.

The paper seeks to present a synthetic approach to the process of changes in organisation and its course. The models to change organisation as proposed in Polish and foreign literature have been discussed here. We have started from the best known and the most general models, and shown some aspects of managing changes. The less popular theoretical models of the process of changes in foreign literature, yet very interesting from for various points of view, have also been described. The paper has attempted to gather those models and compare the solution they propose. As a result, some conclusions have been drawn. They concern the common properties of all models, which may help to take effective steps to transform organisations in practice. Lewin's, Kotter's, or Cameron's basic models of the process of changes are well-known in technical literature. These models underlie the restructuring solutions for concrete organisations that are applied by the biggest consulting firms in the world. The firms may then create their own conceptions, according to how this process of changes in a given organisation should be.

Opis:
A three-layer theoretical model for transport of graded sediments was used in our analysis of the silting-up of waterways tested under laboratory conditions. The experiment was conducted in a laboratory basin, in which waves and a current were generated. The current interacted with the waves propagating perpendicularly to the direction in which it was flowing. It was assumed in the calculations that the sediment was entrained from the bed and suspended due to the impact of waves on the bed, after which it was transported by the current along the cross-shore profile of the navigation channel. Thus, it was assumed that the bathymetry changes occur only as a result of changes in the suspended load transport rate. The bed topographic modifications modelling results are in good agreement to the laboratory experimental results, including the rate of silting up the waterway and the bed reconfiguration. The key factor in the calculations concerning the waterway bed reconfiguration proved to be the inclusion of the effect of sediment size sorting on predicting the rate and character of bathymetry changes.

The progressive ageing process concerns both Poland and other Member States of the European Union. In recent years, the share of workers of non-mobile and post-productive age in the total population has been rising, and according to forecasts, in 2035 people aged 45 years and over will represent two-thirds of our society. Since the year 2012, announced the Year of Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations by the European Commission, more and more attention has been paid in the Polish public space to the issues of an ageing society, including its impact on the health of the economy. The article notes that the ageing process does not occur uniformly across all Polish regions, i.e. at the same pace and with the same intensity. The results of studies indicating the regions being most vulnerable to the ageing of the regional community and the negative consequences of this process in the next two decades are presented.

Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie pojęcia 'zmiana organizacyjna' oraz klasyfikacji zmian organizacyjnych z punktu widzenia różnych autorów. Artykuł prezentuje również syntetyczną charakterystykę podejść oraz modeli stosowanych we wprowadzaniu zmian organizacyjnych w przedsiębiorstwie.
Introduction of changes is an important condition of duration and development of every enterprise. During accelerated transformation of economy, there has to be made many changes in the enterprise and they have to fulfil not only adaptive functions, but also innovative ones. The purpose of the paper is to introduce a notion of 'organizational changes' as well as presentation of the typology of organizational changes in an enterprise based on literature of object with a point of view of different authors. The article also presents a synthetic profile of conceptions and models applied while introducing organizational changes in an enterprise.

The article presents an analysis of the dynamics of changes on the grounds of the deterministic chaos theory. In studying the dynamics of organization changes as ordered systems of deterministic dependencies certain phenomena may appear that are difficult to predict, which cause chaotic behavior of the system. The behavior results from a non-linear mechanism of functional and organizational ties. Non-linearity of the ties generates a high sensibility of the organization to changes, and in consequence a deterministic chaos.

The article provides a comparison of the dynamic increase in the number of enterprises relative to the working-age population in the private sector in the years 2001–2004 (the immediate pre-accession period) and 2004–2007 (the immediate post-accession period). The study was conducted with regard to the main sectors of economic activity (agriculture, industry, lower-order services and higher-order services), as well as the functional diversity of municipalities, or gminas (urban and suburban categories, transportation corridors, tourism, etc., for a total of 16 categories). The study indicates a decline, inertia, spatial polarisation and tessellated spatial structure of the development dynamic of private enterprises.

The method has been developed for recognition of changes, caused by vegetation, using the Earth remote sensing data obtained at different points of time. The method includes automatic calculation of brightness groups in segments of changes for each range in the multizonal image. Also, the problem of the spatial multispectral decomposition is resolved with regard to the areas of changes caused by vegetation, with the automatic selection of the object's components homogeneous in terms of their reflection properties.

The author’s aim is to identify changes in the rate, intensity and direction of hotel development, as well as their number, type and capacity of in Poland, by category and province in 1990-2015. The objective is to define the influence of both tourism attractiveness and economic development factors (GNP, total capital expenditure, the value of gross fixed capital formation – GFCF) on the changing number of hotel rooms. The identification was based on commonly available materials provided by the Local Data Base (LDB) of the Central Statistical Office (CSO), as well as from statistical year books concerning the tourism sector. The article presents methods for analysing indices, as well as correlation and graphic presentation (graphs, maps). From 1990 to 2015, there was a rapid increase in the number and capacity of hotels in Poland (4.5 times), especially in higher (5* and 4*) and medium standard (3*) hotels. That increase was significantly diversified regionally and strongly depended on the tourism attractiveness and socioeconomic development of provinces.

The subject of this paper is to analyse the reconstruction of the pension system resulting from legislative changes introduced in 2011, the most important being the transfer of part of pension contributions from the open pension fund (OFE) to a newly set up special subaccount managed by the Social Insurance Institution, modifications in administrative regulation of open pension funds investment policy and introduction of tax incentives for making additional savings for retirement purposes. These transformations result from assumed financial goals such as reduction of public debt growth by reducing the cost of introducing the second capital pillar in 1999. However, given the social importance of pension insurance the changes should be assessed against assumptions of the pension reform of 1999 and constitutional principles. Key words:

Literatura w różnorodny sposób odnosi się do wyjaśnienia pojęcia zmiana w organizacji – najczęściej jednak uważa się, że jest to przejście z jednego stanu do drugiego. W organizacjach odbywają się zmiany: strategiczne, organizacyjne, związane ze wzrostem firmy oraz jej rozwojem. Do zmian podchodzi się ze strony finansowej oraz organizacyjnej (Teoria E i Teoria O). Zmiany wdrażają menedżerowie zatrudnieni w firmie bądź osoby z zewnątrz (firmy konsultingowe). Aby zmiana była we właściwy sposób zaprojektowana i przeprowadzona, należy wziąć pod uwagę czynniki determinujące jej przebieg (rozmrożenie, zmiana, zamrożenie). Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie wybranych koncepcji i modeli opisujących wdrażanie zmian w organizacjach.
Literature references, in many ways, the explanation of the term a change in an organisation – although mostly it is considered that it is a passage from one state to another. In organisations changes like: strategic, organizational, connected with the growth of a company and its development are being introduced. Changes are approached from the economic and organizational side (Theory “E” and Theory “O”). Changes are introduced by management employed in a company or different managers (consulting firms). For the change to be appropriately designed and conducted it is necessary to take under consideration factors determining its course (unfreeze, a change, refreeze). The goal of this article is to present theories and models describing the introducing of changes in organisations.

Counsellors are important key members in Chinese universities. In this paper, on the one hand, we compared student affairs workers’ occupational characteristics, classification and development of western as well as Chinese university. On the other hand, Chinese university faculty members and students are our subjects. Of 800 pieces circulated, 537 pieces are found to be effective. We verified the reliability and validity of data, then conducted correlation analysis, exploratory factor analysis (EFA), and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The test has good reliability and validity. Cronbach’s alpha coefficient and the split-half reliability coefficient are all above 0.9, indicating that the actual value is in good accordance with the true value. The internal alpha coefficient and the split-half reliability coefficient of each factor are all above 0.8. Χ2/df<5. GFI, AGFI, NFI, CFI, IFI,RMSEA and the other indicators are fitting, and this test meets measurement requirements. A 5-factor model is formulated based on the research results, including: moral quality; professional competence; political awareness; instructive ability; interpersonal skills. This 5-factor model reflects the evaluation of faculty members and students in universities on qualities of counsellors and transformation in their expectation for the role counsellors play as time goes by. So we summarize the qualities of counsellors are constantly changing. These changes have been constantly evolving in time, and their traits are such as: Objectivity of the times, Initiative of inner, Predictability of practice. Being well aware of the trend of this career is conducive to the formation of a sound relationship between counsellors and students, measurability for morality-oriented education, and improvement in counsellors’ overall qualities.

W artykule przedstawiono konsekwencje zmian organizacyjno – prawnych w zakresie funkcjonowania jednostek sektora finansów publicznych. Wskazano, że przyjęte rozwiązania w obowiązującej od 1 stycznia 2010 r. ustawie o finansach publicznych zmieniając strukturę organizacyjną sektora publicznego poprawiają nieco jego przejrzystość, ale w sposób kompleksowy nie porządkują zasad działania tych jednostek oraz całego sektora.
This article shows consequences of organizational and legal changes concerning functioning of units of the public sector. It is showed that regulations which were created in the statute of public sector (in force from 1st of January 2010) are changing along with organizational structure of the public sector improving a little bit its transparency but in comprehensive way do not make more clear the rules of operation of these units and the entire public sector.

Zmiana jest „tak oczywistą właściwością rzeczywistości społecznej, że każda teoria z obszaru nauk społecznych, jakikolwiek byłby jej punkt wyjścia, musi się prędzej czy później do niej odnieść” (Haferkamp, Smelser, 1992, za: Sztompka, 2005, s. 13). W konstruowaniu tych teorii pomocne mogą okazać się badania gotowości do zmian, sposobów radzenia sobie z nimi i ich wpływu na funkcjonowanie jednostki. Jak się okazuje, są to jedne z podstawowych wymiarów coraz częściej zauważane przez badaczy jakości życia. Stanowią one zmienną łączącą w sobie wiele komponentów, wśród których można wyróżnić m.in. Takie, jak: właściwości jednostki (zarówno jej słabe, jak i mocne strony), stresory ujmowane jako zmiany życiowe wymagające nowej adaptacji życiowej, skutki zdarzeń krytycznych czy też orientacja na przyszłość. Dotychczasowe badania koncentrowały się zwłaszcza na analizie skal mierzących osobno każdy z tych komponentów. Artykuł stanowi propozycję nieco innego spojrzenia na zmiany życiowe obejmującego aspekty intrapersonalne zamykające się w odpowiedziach badanego na takie pytania, jak: jaki jestem w kontekście doświadczanych zmian, jak na nie reaguję, jaka charakteryzuje mnie orientacja życiowa oraz interpersonalne – jak dzięki zasobom tkwiącym w otoczeniu mogę rozwijać własną gotowość do zmian. W artykule podjęto zatem próbę syntetycznego zarysowania wybranych technik i narzędzi badawczych aktualnie wykorzystywanych do badania zmian życiowych w naukach społecznych i humanistycznych.
Change is „such an evident feature of social reality that any social-scientific theory, whatever its conceptual starting point, must sooner or later address it.” (Haferkamp, Smelser, 1992, from: Sztompka, 2005, p. 13). It should be noted, that studies of readiness for changes, cooping and connection between changes and human behaviour might prove useful in the process of theory construction. What is more, currently, these aspects are one of the basic factors for quality of life researchers. The change is treated as a variable, which involves many components like individual factors (strengths and weaknesses), adaptation- related stress, causes of critical situations or future orientation. Until now, researches have mainly focused on analysing isolated tests to measure all components of life changes. The article shows a different treatment of life changes, which includes intrapersonal and interpersonal aspects. The intrapersonal aspect is related to answer to questions about reactions for changes and individual future orientation. The interpersonal aspect is connected to the question about objective quality of life. The article is an attempt to review current methods and questionnaires examining life changes in social and humanities sciences.

Knowledge of the hydrodynamic conditions and the exchange of water in estuaries is important for ecological, navigational and water management reasons. The morpho-logy, river flow, sea level and local winds constitute important factors that influence the water currents and rate and extent of the mixing of salt and fresh water. The influence of the morphology changes on flow conditions, on the penetration of salt into the estuary and on the water exchange in the estuaries in this paper are analysed on the example of the Odra Estuary. The morphology of the Odra Estuary, and specially the Świna Strait, has changed immensely since the beginning of the XVIII century. The analyses were performed on the basis of data from in situ measure-ments and results of calculations. For the calculation the three-dimensional model ESTURO was used, because of the complexity of the hydrodynamic regimes and their three-dimensional character. The calculations were performed for the three different hydro-meteorological conditions for each of the five analysed morphological situations of the Odra Estuary. Some results of calculations have been presented.

W pracy przedstawiono zmiany demograficzne zachodzące na wybranych terenach przemysłowych i poprzemysłowych dużego miasta, jakim jest Wrocław w XXI w. Ponadto w artykule zostały zasygnalizowane towarzyszące tym metamorfozom przemiany badanych terenów przemysłowych i poprzemysłowych: morfologiczno-fizjonomiczne oraz funkcjonalne. Studia opierały się na analizie danych z bazy PESEL, kwerendzie archiwalnej i kartograficznej oraz badaniach terenowych. Badane miejsca w XXI w. uległy istotnym przeobrażeniom, które w znacznej mierze były determinowane procesem deglomeracji działalności przemysłowej z centrów dużych miast oraz chęcią zintensyfikowania użytkowania przestrzeni atrakcyjnie zlokalizowanej wewnątrz tkanki dużego miasta. Największy wpływ na modyfikację badanej przestrzeni miały firmy prowadzące działalność deweloperską oraz usługową.
The paper presents the demographic changes taking place in selected industrial and post-industrial areas of a large city, such as Wrocław, in the 21st century. In addition, the article indicates the accompanying morphological, physiognomic and functional changes in these industrial and post-industrial areas. The research was based on the analysis of data from the PESEL database, archival and cartographic inquiries, as well as field research. In the 21st century, the studied areas have undergone significant transformations which were largely determined by the deglomeration of industrial activity from city centers and the desire to intensify the use of space attractively located within the fabric of a large city. The main forces modifying the studied space were companies conducting development and service activities.

The influence of climate change on coastal areas is indisputable. Natural or anthropogenic elements of the coastal zone often reveal unforeseen changes, not comparable with earlier observations. However, human activity is influenced by climatic events that affect settlements and local economies. This paper presents the increasing threat of climate change to world coastal safety with an emphasis on field research from the coast of the southern Baltic Sea. The main climatic factors that influence the land and shallow seas of the coastal zone are: wind, waves, storm surges, ice jams and flooding.We are forgetting about the relationship between these factors and parts of the affected environment.Acostly shore protection scheme in one area forces erosion in another. It is proposed not to analyse the environmental events on average; such scientific results do not provide the basis for calculating real land erosion. In this paper, it is argued that nature does not respect average values; we need to prepare for greater change due to the escalation of those factors affecting the coast.

In this paper, a dynamic model of computation based on the Universal Turing Machine is proposed. This model is capable of applying runtime code modifications for 3-symbol deterministic Turing Machines at runtime and requires a decomposition of the simulated machine into parts called subtasks. The algorithm for performing runtime changes is considered, and the ability to apply runtime changes is studied through computer simulations. Theoretical properties of the proposed model, including computational power as well as time and space complexity, are studied and proven. Connections between the proposed model and Oracle Machines are discussed. Moreover, a possible method of implementation in real-life systems is proposed.

Satisfaction with compensation for work in modern society, especially in welfare states, plays a very important role. It not only ensures the efficient use of available production facilities and natural resources, but also determines the size of the state budget, the quality of life in the country, an attitude towards emigration and the general state of social situation. In a market economy, wages are the expression of capital and labour relations, both at the national and at the company level. The compensation systems are also influenced by some external factors such as tax system, technological level, labour supply and demand balance and legal regulation. The article seeks to reveal how the satisfaction with pay for work affects the social changes in the country. The article present the results of the research carried out in Lithuania in 2017.

Nowadays, human activity has been playing an increasing role in determining the quality of surface waters. The aim of the following article is to show an influence of anthropogenic factors influencing the variability of chemical composition of river waters in a catchment area with an agricultural use of lands. The authors carried out the analysis of surface waters quality, made an inventory of pollution sources of surface waters and presented the proposal of quality improvement of surface waters in the Miechów and Kazimierz districts. Research on the concentration of biogenic compounds was conducted in the Nidzica catchment area. Data for research was obtained from the Voivodship Inspectorate for Environmental Protection, County Offices and Commune Offices. The tested area was an agricultural one. The major pollutants of the waters of catchment areas include both area and point pollution. Fertilizers and natural fertilizers are used to raise the yield and then they get into the surface waters by flushing from the fields. The main goal is to investigate the dynamics of changes in the content of nutrient compounds in surface waters during the year (seasonal changes) and in the multiannual period (multiannual changes).

Ancient Chinese history holds a quality which has syncretized traditional thought with its cultural wealth unified of mystical and mythological figures in the background. Such that classical documents, which had begun to be written before Common Era, has directly influenced the political regime, education system and status of society in China. One of the most prominent features of these works is to propound collective knowledge about perception of cosmology, attitudes to earthiness, community standards, policy and morality. Among Five Classics works of these masterpieces of Chinese philosophy, Book of Changes which stands closest to metaphysical narrative, mainly consists of the texts about prophecy. While this piece of work had been referred as a divination guide in Western Zhou Dynasty (1046-771 BC), it turned into a cosmological text that included a range of philosophical commentary during Warring States Period (475-221 BC). The mainstay of this remarkable change is the direct correlation of all the concepts and terms that characterize the worldly beyond along with the relevant text, especially yin-yang dualism, which symbolizes an extraordinary harmony in early Chinese thought. Traditional idea suggests reciprocity in which heaven, earth and man are interconnected to maintain natural order. However, the superiority attributed to human beings also brings compulsive responsibilities to idealize a compatible society. This paper aims to discuss influences of cosmological and anthropological items on human behaviors explained in prescriptive perspective.

The widely accepted definition which relates a career to an individual’s experience acquired during work, places it in the social space and in a specific time. The contextual and individual perspective provides an insight into the interrelationships between individual agency and the limiting or stimulating aspects of the social context. In career studies, it is emphasized that the concept of a career should be related to the category of work, because career is one of the key concepts used in Western societies of the twentieth century to describe the history of work understood as employment, despite the fact that new career theories go beyond this area of reference. The article discusses the development of career studies that reflect the transformation of the work environment. Attention is paid to the dynamic transformations in this environment are a background to changing career patterns and the relevant studies. The genealogical roots of contemporary career theories are shown, with special emphasis ontheir transdisciplinary nature. The article moreover focuses on problem areas inspired by the 1970s, which proved catalytic for modern career studies. The article concludes with reflections on the extent to which changes occurring in the area of work, and in particular experiencing discontinuities, pose a challenge to the fundamental principles and standards on which the theories, research and practices in the field of careers are based.

This paper studies the changes which have occurred in the Spanish cod fishing industry in the last few years. We also aim to understand the dynamics of industrial change and its relation to institutions, understood here as both formal and informal rules and conventions. Our results suggest that sometimes industries, in order to maintain their competitive position, need something more than incremental changes in their products or in the technologies that they use. As we can see with the Spanish cod fishing industry, major changes are needed which affect the institutional set-up of their production system. Nevertheless, even when major changes happen in the production sphere, this does not mean that major alterations happen in the way companies innovate, i.e. in their innovation system.

Prowadzone rozważania koncentrują się na przyczynach i kierunkach przeobrażeń systemu wartości polskich przedsiębiorstw, a ich podstawę stanowią wyniki badań empirycznych. Pozwalają one wnioskować o dalszych kierunkach rozwoju systemu wartości oraz o doborze narzędzi pomocnych w jego utrwalaniu.
This paper discusses the problem of organizational values, pointing to their role in the process of company operations. Considerations focus on the reasons and directions of transformations in the value systems of Polish companies and are based on empirical research. They allow conclusions as to further directions in value system development and the selection of tools helpful in making them permanent.

Roztocze Nation Park (RNP) is located in the central part of Roztocze, a hilly region in south-eastern Poland. The most important type of forest community in RNP is Dentario glandulosae-Fagetum. Potential and real vegetation, as well as forest stand maps were used to analyze changes of the age and species structure of beechwood stand from 1946 to 2001. Beechwoods were dominated by two species: fir and beech. During the last 50 years their proportion has entirely changed and the share of oldest groups of stand (over 120 years old) has increased significantly.

Education, by its very nature, is an institution that preserves tradition and its values, and thus preserves structures, patterns and processes that have become rooted in society and continue to influence and shape it. Education was one of the significant forces in the shaping of modern culture and the modern social cohesion of the Jewish people along with the peoples of Europe from the end of the 19th century and throughout the entire process of its renewed hold over its land. In the period that preceded the establishment of the State the focuses of power were distributed politically, with the considerable involvement of the community in what was done in education. Since the establishment of the State, the structure of the shaping of education policy in Israel has experienced changes. The principle of statehood guided Prime Minister Ben-Gurion, who sought to apply it also to the educational system. For many years since the establishment of the State, changes have been made in the national consensus about the emphasis of values, according to the spirit of the era and the major events that occurred in the country and society in Israel. In the transition to the 21st century, Israeli society is undergoing major changes that have direct implications on the positioning of formal education in society and on the image of the desired graduate.

Agricultural land covers more than half the area of metropolitan areas in Poland, and is therefore particularly prone to the influences of the processes associated with their development. The aim of the study was to analyse changes in agricultural land cover within the metropolitan areas of Poland for the years 1990–2012; and to capture their dynamics, types and directions. The percentage share of the total study area, for each of the forms of agricultural land cover and their changes were traced, with the spatial distribution of the changes also being determined. The results of the study show that in metropolitan areas, agricultural land cover is undergoing transformations that do not result in the loss of agricultural lands, or that involve a decrease in surface area due to their change into anthropogenic forms of land cover. The greatest transitions occurred between 2000 and 2006 and were observed in the outer zones of metropolitan areas.

Theoretical background: Beyond doubt, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused a series of perturbations in the economies of almost every country in the world. This global crisis has contributed to the business turmoil and has been seen in services in particular. Due to restrictions on economic activity introduced by governments of countries, which were aimed at slowing down the scale of virus infections, many enterprises faced a severe dilemma, i.e. how to continue their activities, how to survive the crisis, and maybe end this activity, or change it into another. For many companies, the pandemic crisis turned out to cause multi-faceted losses and even bankruptcy. But also, some companies saw the crisis as an opportunity to introduce positive changes and gain new sales markets and customers. For these companies, the coronavirus pandemic has become a growth catalyst.Purpose of the article: The theoretical part of the article is devoted to analyzing the literature resources on the coronavirus pandemic and its impact on business. In the practical part, the author explores the results of the quantitative research conducted in 2021 to find out how the coronavirus influenced the functioning of the SME sector in Poland. The author posed the following research questions: How did coronavirus impact the functioning of enterprises? How did companies cope with this crisis? Was the pandemic crisis a source of financial failure or collapse of Polish enterprises? Was it an opportunity for market success? Did the pandemic initiate new business strategies, cause or accelerate changes in the business model?Research methods: The literature review was made using the database of scientific articles in Google Scholar and ResearchGate. The author searched for relevant articles using the following keywords: “COVID-19”, “coronavirus”, “pandemic”, “pandemic crisis”, and “lockdown”. The quantitative study covered 500 Polish business entities operating in production, trade, and services in domestic and foreign markets. There were no limitations regarding the area of activity (according to the Polish Classification of Activities) or the number of years of firms’ presence on the market. The study did not cover large enterprises, i.e. 250 or more employees.Main findings: In general, the coronavirus pandemic caused problems in the market but did not contribute to the drastic collapse of the SME sector, nor was it a catalyst for their spectacular development. The conducted study showed that most companies dealt moderately well with the pandemic crisis. They took remedial action to avoid a complete loss of liquidity, going out of business, and bankruptcy risk. A small percentage saw an opportunity in the crisis or used this time to improve their situation.

The population ageing is an universal problem concerning all countries in the world, not only in Europe. The main sources of this process are decreasing fertility and increasing life expectancy. The migration has additional impact on ageing in some countries. The ageing of population means many new challenges in the field of economy and society. The quality of life of older people and the entire population as well depends on how countries will meet these challenges and how societies will adapt to the changing demographic conditions. Longer life can mean activity, health and participation, but it depends on properly planned activities in many areas of social and economic life. The phenomenon of ageing and the consequences associated with them are extremely complex and multilateral issues. The presented article focuses on the comparision of the process of ageing in different continents and countries, particularly in Poland. It concerns the problem of the ageing impact on labour market and health care sector as well.

This paper sets out to investigate changes and individual irregularities in the Received Pronunciation of a number of individuals over time and to compare them with the changes noted in contemporary RP in the literature. The aim of the study is to ascertain whether accent change affects individuals during their lifetimes or is only brought about by new generations of speakers accepting different pronunciations as the norm and effectively speaking with a different accent to older generations within their social circle. The variations/changes looked for were: CLOTH transfer, CURE lowering, GOAT allophony, R-sandhi, and T-voicing. The procedure of the study was to identify the presence or absence of these features in the speech of certain individuals in recordings made over a period of at least 35 years. The individuals studied were: Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Baroness Thatcher, Sir David Attenborough and David Dimbleby. The results of these comparisons suggest that individual speakers are not greatly affected by changes in pronunciation taking place around them and generally stay with the preferred pronunciation of their youth. There are, however, cases where a general uncertainty amongst speakers of the accent, here found in CURE lowering, does influence the speech of individuals over time.

Purpose – The main objective of the following article is to present issues associated with managing diversity in the context of demographic changes. The aim of this paper is to offer concrete suggestions on how organizations can overcome demographic changes and tap the business potential of diversity management.Design/Methodology/Approach – The authors’ approach is based on the literature, statistic data and authors’ own research. The empirical part was developed on the basis of survey research titled “Diversity Management in the V4 Countries as an Answer to Demographic Changes”. The research was quantitative, implemented through the computer-assisted personal interviewing (CAPI) technique on a group of 101 respondents. The research study was conducted in 2016–2017.Findings – According to the research, knowledge and practice of diversity management is not very widespread in the Czech Republic. The research has shown that according to the opinion of the respondents from organisations, they recognize differences in motivation factors for specific groups of employees. The majority of respondents see the values and benefits of different groups of employees, as well as their specific needs. The majority of respondents know that specific groups can be the objects of various types of discrimination.Practical implications – Changes taking place on the labour market and globalization – and in particular the demographic changes in the Czech Republic – have evoked a necessity of searching for new strategies of management. Contemporary human resources management strategies should take into account social and demographic changes and the influence of those changes on customer purchase behaviour and requirement. Therefore, knowledge of diversity management and practical applications should be reflected in strategies of organizations. Results of the study provide general guidelines for determining the direction of how important diversity management should be in organizations.Originality/value – The research concerns diversity management in the Czech Republic with respect to demographic changes.

The paper contains a review of the literature concerning memory abilities and human senses performance under different environmental circumstances. A number of studies indicated that environment has a significant impact on human senses functioning. It can affect it in a mechanical way, by a chronic exposure to potentially harmful substances or processes in different work environments. Also, some cognitive abilities that have evolved to perform evolutionary essential functions lost their importance because of the change of environment impact. Moreover, training can be a source of improvement of both human senses and cognitive abilities, as well. That might suggest that, while using, under different environmental circumstances different cognitive abilities develop. We take into a particular consideration human memory and its role, show current studies in this field and suggest new research directions.

Rapid socio-economic development and urbanization have contributed to the serious deterioration of air quality in many world cities including Pristina, the capital of Kosovo. Through a data-driven analysis of regulatory intervention, this study attempts to examine the effectiveness of air pollution control regulations that have been implemented in Kosovo between 2010–2021. Our results show that the measures enforced during this 10-year period in Kosovo, and particularly in the capital city, have resulted in the reduction of pollution. The applied methods for this research are the standard ones of the Instituti Hidrometeorologjik i Kosovës (Hydrometeorological Institute of Kosovo). All results showed a decrease of each pollutant over the ten years. These changes strongly indicated that the origin of the pollution was traffic and anthropogenic activity, while the power plant was considered to be a less significant source of pollution. The basic pollutants of air quality in Pristina are particulate matters (PM2.5 and PM10), ozone and nitrogen oxide.

In this study, divorce is understood as a complex and multidimensional phenomenon. Furthermore, divorce is one of the most stressful life events - an event which changes almost every aspect of life. It has been assumed that for majority of people, divorce is related to a crisis or is viewed as a turning point in life. The aim of this study is to verify whether the assessment of the impact of divorce on various spheres of life (housing situation, work, friends, children, etc.) is associated with different magnitude of experienced life changes (positive or negative). Positive changes may signify individual's ability to cope with critical life events (such as divorce); negative changes mean that people after divorce experience the negative impact of it on fundamental beliefs about the self as well as the value and meaning of life. In this study, the Life Changes Scale (LCS), demographic data and divorce-related data were used. The difference significance tests were conducted between the groups. A total of 157 divorced individuals participated in the research. Three out of four participants were women (76.40%); a quarter of the group comprised of men (23.60%). The respondents’ average age was 41 years. Analyses have shown differences in the assessment of changes after divorce. The most important results include the occurrence of significant differences in experienced life changes (positive or negative) among divorced individuals, depending on the sphere of life in which the changes occurred.

Rozwój kobiet w średniej dorosłości związany jest z właściwymi dla tego okresu życia zmianami hormonalnymi prowadzącymi do menopauzy. Menopauza, pomimo że stanowi jeden z okresów cyklu płciowego, zwykle łączona jest ze starzeniem się i tym samym oceniana jako niekorzystny dla kobiet „wariant normy” – okres wielu strat. Czynniki psychospołeczne: poczucie kryzysu wieku średniego, niesprzyjające społeczno-kulturowe warunki życia oraz negatywna postawa wobec menopauzy wydają się równie istotnym obciążeniem jak czynniki hormonalne, decydując o przebiegu okresu średniej dorosłości i nasileniu objawów menopauzalnych.
The development of women in middle adulthood is associated with appropriate, for this period of life, hormonal changes leading to menopause. Menopause, although it is one of the natural and inevitable stages in a woman’s life, is usually combined with aging and therefore assessed as an unfavorable “standard variant” – a period of many losses. Psychosocial factors: a sense of middle age crisis, unfavorable socio-cultural conditions of life and the negative attitude towards menopause seem to be as important a burden as hormonal factors, deciding on the course of the middle adulthood period and the intensity of menopausal symptoms.

The purpose of the article is to examine the relationship between the intensity of changes in the economic structure and changes in GDP dynamics per capita in selected countries of Central and Eastern Europe. Design/methodology/approach: The following methods were used in the article: critical literature analysis and statistical data analysis using selected statistical tools. Based on data obtained from World Bank Open Data, the square coefficients of relative structural changes were calculated for four selected countries of Central and Eastern Europe: Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia. The analysis covered almost 30 years, from 1990 to 2018. The results of these studies were then referred to selected theories of structural changes. Findings: The intensity of structural changes in the analysed period was not homogeneous, both in terms of time and subject. It would be difficult to determine the general trend or regularity in the years studied. Each of the separated time frames was characterised by different characteristics of the analysed variables, within which some similarities and differences between countries were noticed. At the same time, in the analysed years there were some similarities to the regularities described in selected theories of structural changes. Research limitations/implications: The research carried out in the article is only one aspect of the assessment of changes in the structure of Central and Eastern European countries. For a full picture of them, research should be continued, including in creating and dividing the GDP structure or the employment structure. Originality/value: The use of the quadratic coefficient of relative structural changes as a measure of changes in the economic structures of Central and Eastern European countries.

Author, as a scientific participant of the first Czech-Slovak Expedition to the Mt. Everest in 1984, focuses on the glaciation in the Sagarmatha National Park (the Central Himalayas, Nepal) in 1978 (Fig. 1 and Table 1) and compares it with the present-day state. Despite overwhelming majority of the papers bearing data on the fastest retreat of the Mt. Everest’s glaciers it can be stated that obvious changes of the covering glaciers were not recorded in the Sagarmatha National Park (34.2% in the year of 1978 and 39.8% in the year of 2009). At present, for 59 sections of 18 valley glaciers (Nangpa, Melung, Lunag, Chhule, Sumna, Langmoche, Ngozumpa, Gyubanar, Lungsampa, Khumbu, Lobuche, Changri Shar, Imja, Nuptse, Lhotse Nup, Lhotse, Lhotse Shar andAma Dablam) their length of retreat during 30 years was recorded: at 5 sections from 267 m to 1,804m (the width of retreat on 24sections being from 1 m to 224m), while for 7 sections an increase in length from 12 m to 741 m was noted (the increase of glacier width at 23 sections being from 1 m to 198 m). More important than changes in length and/or width of valley glaciers are both the depletion of ice mass and an intensive growth of the number lakes: small supraglacial ponds, as well as dam moraine lakes situated below the snowline (289 lakes compared to 165 lakes in the year of 1978).

The European river cruise market is the leading cruise market in the world and is also one of the fastest growing tourism segments in Europe. However, the demand structure of the European river cruise market has seen significant changes over recent years, and the aim of the studies described in this article was to identify the determinant factors and the ensuing changes in supply and demand within this market. The primary trend observed was a shift in demand, as the share of tourists from outside Europe has been growing with the share of Europeans (to date, the main group of customers) shrinking. These changes are attributable to social, economic, political, and technical factors that have resulted, in particular, in changes in river cruise passengers’ preferences, which in turn have led to specific reactions by river cruise operators. The analyses have shown that river cruise passengers, who are seem increasingly interested in being educated about the local culture, traditions, ecology, wildlife, arts, foods, and history, expect that the river cruise offer will be extended to include new destinations. They also expect an extended offer of wellness-related services and more active river cruises, as well as high-quality passenger space on board ship. In response, European river cruise operators have developed a cruise network and a fleet of river cruise vessels based on these emerging river cruise markets and increased the diversity and comprehensiveness of their offered services. The evolution of the European river cruise market will also constitute a challenge for emerging river cruise destinations, which will need to meet the changing expectations of both passengers and operators.

The aim of this study was to determinate seasonal changes in industrial wastewater treatment effectiveness. Studies were carried out in mechanical-biological wastewater treatment plant in Bystre near Giżycko to which inflows mixture of domestic and dairy wastewater. Laboratory studies were carried out by Water and Wastewater Company in Giżycko. For statistical analysis results form years 2014 and 2015 were considered. The scope of statistical analysis includes basic statistical measures including arithmetic mean, median, minimum, maximum and standard deviation. Changes in seasonal treatment effectiveness were shown by Fisher-Snedecore LSD test. Seasonal changes were observed for BOD, COD and total nitrogen removal effectiveness. Total phosphorus was not subjected to that kind of changes.

The systemic transformation of Poland after 1989 led to an acceleration of restructuring processes both in the national economy and in individual regions. The dynamics of changes was exceptionally high in rural areas. The most rapid changes occurred in areas which are situated within the range of the direct influence of bigger cities. This paper strives to compare the changes in entrepreneurship which took place in the suburban areas of Kielce and Radom during the transformation period, before and after the introduction of the administrative reform in Poland. We sought answers to the following questions: - What differences occur in the dynamics of changes of the entrepreneurship indicator in suburban areas in case of two cities of a similar size, of which only Kielce has remained the regional (voivodship) capital? - What differences occur in the dynamics of changes of the entrepreneurship indicator in relation to the distance from the central city? In order to answer the above questions, the entrepreneurship indicators for agriculture, industry and service sectors were calculated for the analysed areas between 1995 and 2005.

The article attempts to explain the importance of organisational culture in corporate environment. In particular, it highlights certain mechanisms of changes occurring in the organisation in the organisational culture perspective. Organisational culture offers certain standards and values, and it systematises reality, meaning that it highlights what is important and avoids what is irrelevant to the organisation and its employees. Given that, it is a tool enabling identification of opportunities and threats arising from changes as well. Many companies, for instance IBM, Procter&Gamble, Exxon, ABB or Siemens have managed to undergo the change process without changing their developed and consolidated standards and values. The purpose of this article is to diagnose the ways of conscious development of organisational culture in corporate environment, and illustrate the same with the example of selected banks. The article analyses the scientific and the literary output researching the aforementioned issue. It is an introduction to the author's own empirical studies aimed at analysing the mechanisms of changes of corporate culture.

The article presents the structural changes occurring in the Polish labour market due to innovation. The analysis covers the 2006-2010 period. The impact of innovation on employment is related to the so-called creative destruction, which means that innovation on the one hand destroys the existing jobs, but on the other creates new ones. The analysis has demonstrated that the rise in employment and the related shifts in employment structure are determined by the type of innovation introduced. The organizational innovations had a greater impact on the size and structure of employment than the technological ones.

The purpose of the study is to identify changes taking place in the employment structure within NACE ‘Section C – Manufacturing’ which accompany the implementation of the Industry 4.0 concept. The spatial scope of the analysis covers seven EU member states, i.e. Czechia, Germany, Poland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Romania and Hungary. The time range includes the years 2011–2018. All the new technologies that make up Industry 4.0 accelerate industrial transformation processes, additionally transforming the labour market, business management methods and the structure of the goods and services market. The main foundations of the Industry 4.0 concept include automation and robotics, which are increasingly implemented in new areas of life. The fastest-growing market is that for industrial robots which are used in enterprises more and more often and directly affect labour demand. Most industrial robots are used in the manufacturing of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers, excluding motorcycles (Division 29) with Germany and Czechia being leaders in their use. The analysis shows that an increase in robotisation reduces the demand for work for the young, and this only increased in countries that present a low robotisation rate and outdated manufacturing activity.

In the reality of a free market economy, organisations constantly have to adjust to the changing conditions and environment. Organisations may develop from the inside or gain other markets via expansion, i.e. thanks to mergers or acquisitions. The aim of such actions is reduction of costs and use of new or better developed techniques or technologies, along with the experience of personnel of the merged/acquired companies. In the course of implementing organisational changes in the enterprise, the level of employee engagement may decrease due to errors in human resource management. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine the level of employee involvement during organisational changes due to the merger company and to indicate those areas that should be strengthened. The method of achieving the indicated goal was a comparative analysis own questionnaire research with the company research in previous years. As a result of the compilation of these research results, it was found that there are many significant discrepancies in the perception of various types of issues by employees (in such areas as e.g. tasks, management, performance management, employee development, work or organisation, career, cooperation) affecting the involvement in work. It has been shown that the practice of cyclical employee engagement surveys allows the company's management board to identify errors in human resource management and to eliminate them or to notice activities conducive to increasing the level of involvement, and thus consolidating or strengthening them. The conducted case study, as one of the few studies, presents a crosssectional analysis of the discussed phenomenon of employee involvement in the enterprise. Only such a long-term analysis of employees' attitudes allows them to be modelled in accordance with the goals of the organisation and the expectations of managers.
W realiach gospodarki wolnorynkowej organizacje muszą nieustannie dostosowywać się do zmieniających się warunków i otoczenia. Organizacje mogą rozwijać się od wewnątrz lub zdobywać inne rynki poprzez ekspansję, czyli fuzje lub przejęcia. Celem takich działań jest obniżenie kosztów oraz wykorzystanie nowych lub lepiej rozwiniętych technik lub technologii, a także doświadczenia kadr połączonych/przejętych spółek. W trakcie wdrażania zmian organizacyjnych w przedsiębiorstwie poziom zaangażowania pracowników może spadać z powodu błędów w zarządzaniu zasobami ludzkimi. Dlatego celem niniejszego opracowania było określenie poziomu zaangażowania pracowników podczas zmian organizacyjnych w związku z połączeniem spółki oraz wskazanie obszarów, które należy wzmocnić. Metodą realizacji wskazanego celu była analiza porównawcza własnych badań ankietowych z badaniami firmy w latach poprzednich. W wyniku zestawienia wyników tych badań stwierdzono, że istnieje wiele istotnych rozbieżności w postrzeganiu przez pracowników różnego rodzaju zagadnień (w takich obszarach jak np. zadania, zarządzanie, zarządzanie wydajnością, rozwój pracowników, praca czy organizacja, kariera, współpraca) wpływające na zaangażowanie w pracę. Wykazano, że praktyka cyklicznych badań zaangażowania pracowników pozwala zarządowi firmy na identyfikację błędów w zarządzaniu zasobami ludzkimi i ich eliminację lub dostrzeżenie działań sprzyjających zwiększeniu poziomu zaangażowania, a tym samym ich utrwaleniu lub wzmocnieniu. Przeprowadzone studium przypadku, jako jedno z nielicznych opracowań, przedstawia przekrojową analizę omawianego zjawiska zaangażowania pracowników w przedsiębiorstwie. Dopiero tak długofalowa analiza postaw pracowników pozwala na ich modelowanie zgodnie z celami organizacji i oczekiwaniami menedżerów.

The purpose of this investigation is to determine age dynamism of reactive agility in young football players, thus specifying the impact of sport training on the level of reactive agility of players. 112 young male football players playing for the football club in Nitra, Slovakia volunteered to participate in the study. Another goal was to clarify the age dynamics of performances in the monitored groups of football players and to find out the mutual relationship between the two types of agility. Trends in sport performance and relationship of both kinds of agility were observed in 6 teams of different age categories (U11 up to U16). In order to fulfil the aim of the research two different motor tests for running agility (Illinois agility test) and reactive agility (Fitro Agility Check) were selected. For the realization of Fitro Agility Check test, a computer with the necessary hardware and software, and measuring device Fitro Agility Check were used. To evaluate the relationship between the observed variables (Illinois vs FAC), we used Spearman's correlation coefficient rs (-1 ≤ rs ≤ 1) to perform correlation analysis in SSPS statistical software. We used a significance level of 0.01. The results of this study provide evidence of stabilization of performance with the growing age of players at the level of both types of agility and a dynamic increase, especially after the age of 13. Low values of correlation coefficients (from r = - 0.570 to 0.503) indicate indifferent determinants in running and reactive agility. Since low causal-consequential relationship between reactive and running agility was found in the observed football teams, there is a necessity in the sports training to differentiate between specific means for the development of the so-called pre-planned and reactive agility.

With climatic changes, access to freshwater resources becomes more limited. Correspondingly, water monitoring methods in sensitive or critical areas in terms of groundwater amount are becoming increasingly important. The monitoring of the water levels in these regions, using appropriate methods and data sets, is highly effective in preventing possible future water crises. This paper aims estimated water storage changes with available tools and data in southeastern Anatolia, Turkey, where hydroclimatological studies are scarce due to limited observations. Data obtained from the Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment satellite mission and the Global Land Data Assimilation System were used for the analysis of water storage changes in the study area. The results demonstrate that water storage shows a downward trend in all subareas, particularly in high-elevation regions. In addition, climatic changes have both short- and long-term impacts on water storage. Climatic variables (increasing temperature and decreasing precipitation) showed the highest correlation with water storage at 2-month lags. The monitoring of water storage is crucial for the region, and our results confirm the major role of such monitoring in decision-making processes and water resource management.

The article is an attempt to verify the hypothesis that the tourist function in Polish health resorts is becoming increasingly diversified. It presents data concerning the capacity and type of accommodation in three Kujawy health resorts, as well as their amenities. The data was provided by the Local Data Bank at the Central Statistical Office (GUS), and refers to the period between 1995 and 2018. The study findings point to the increasingly diversification of the tourist function in Kujawy health resorts. The greatest changes have been identified at Ciechocinek which can currently be defined as a tourism and health resort. Less advanced changes have been found in Inowrocław, while Wieniec-Zdrój still remains a typical spa with a marginal share of other functions. Based on official statistics, the author has identified general trends taking place in health resort infrastructure. Only a limited quantitative analysis of the relationship between the health and tourist functions of Kujawy health resorts has been made, mostly due to the incompleteness of the statistical data.

In the article implications on manager’s education resulting from civilization changes were presented. Necessity of radical changes in the system of education in the field of management was supported by many arguments including labor market requirements and pending integration processes in Europe. Directions of those changes were illustrated which can either be observed already or are expected to appear in future.

Where can we find them? They can be found in compounds, proper nouns, names of professions, job, places etc. as well as fixed idioms.

Functioning of the skin with age leads to its changes under which the condition of the dermis fibers deteriorates, which affects the appearance of the person and causes a number of consecutive pathological processes in the skin deeper layers. The development of methods for the prevention and treatment of age-related involuntary changes in the skin, enhancement of repair processes in its various layers is relevant and has a scientific and practical significance. Morphological studies of rabbits skin after the exogenous hyaluronic acid (HA) administration in various concentrations were performed. Studies have shown that when HA various concentrations are injected intradermally into rabbits, the increase in the formation of connective tissue fibers in the dermis is manifested with an increase of HA concentration. An increase in the HA concentration in the compounds promotes an increase in the degree of compaction of the dermis of rabbits. Lower HA concentration (1.4% and 2%) after single administration causes stimulation of the processes inside the skin at earlier time (2 weeks), and a concentration of 4% - is more active at a later time (8 weeks). We can assume a connection between the HA concentration and the time of the manifestation of the most pronounced morphological changes in the skin. It is likely that the stimulating effect of HA is manifested when the optimal physiological concentration is reached. The obtained data are in favor of further studies of the influence of the concentration of exogenous HA on the processes of skin biorevitalization.

On the basis of the historical (dating from the 1920s) and contemporary phytosociological relevés, taken in the spruce forests of the Polish Tatra Mts., the changes were determined that took place in these forests. This area had been for centuries under the influence of human economic activities, mainly pasturing and wood extraction, and then protected in the Tatra National Park. These changes differ according to the altitudinal vegetation belts. In the coniferous forests of the upper montane belt, the changes due to wind breaks or tree stand ageing did not lead to transition to other forest associations. A tendency can yet be noticed of losing a part of the species combinations characteristic for the associations or higher syntaxonomic units, which might be linked with the stopping of grazing in the forests and development of the undergrowth of tall herb character. The association of the fir-and-spruce forests in the lower montane belt displayed much bigger changes. There was an increase of the role of species of the deciduous forests, while the role of the coniferous forest species was limited in the studied patches, which clearly indicates the evolution of the forests towards the beech woods, typical for the lower montane belt. This means a progressing limitation of the spruce forests in the limestone Tatras to the advantage of return of the beech woodsdominated there in older time.

Kiedy na świecie pojawia się dziecko, rodzice robią wszystko, by zająć się nim jak najlepiej. Nieprzespane noce, ograniczony kontakt z rzeczywistością to naturalna kolej rzeczy. Na szczęście po czasie to mija – kiedy dzieci rosną. Niestety, w przypadku opiekunów dzieci z niepełnosprawnością ten okres nie mija, a wręcz ciągnie się latami. Samotność i brak sieci wsparcia osób, które opiekują się kimś non stop, to realny i mało widoczny dla społeczeństwa problem. Zadbanie o samopoczucie opiekunów osób z niepełnosprawnością jest niezmiernie ważne w procesie leczenia i rehabilitacji ich podopiecznych. Choć w obecnych czasach coraz więcej mówi się o opiekunach, niestety nadal wokół nich krąży wiele krzywdzących opinii i stereotypów. Nikt nie przygląda się temu, co ci rodzice przeżywają na co dzień i z jakimi problemami muszą się zmagać.
When a child comes into the world, parents do everything to take care of him/her as best as possible. Sleepless nights, limited contact with reality is the natural order of things. Fortunately, it passes with time - as children grow up. Unfortunately, in the case of carers of children with disabilities, this period does not end, and even lasts for years. Loneliness and the lack of a support network of people who care for someone non-stop is a real problem that is not very visible to society. Taking care of the well-being of carers of people with disabilities is extremely important in the process of treatment and rehabilitation of their charges. Although nowadays there is more and more talk about carers, unfortunately, there are still many harmful opinions and stereotypes around them, and no one looks at what these parents experience on a daily basis and what problems they have to deal with.

The paper presents results of research on an influence of listening fatigue on the detection of changes in spectrum and envelope of musical samples. The experiment was carried out under conditions which normally exist in a studio or on the stage when sound material is recorded and/or mixed. The equivalent level of presented sound samples is usually 90 dB and this is an average value of sound level existing in control room at various recording activities. Such musical material may be treated as a noise so Temporary Threshold Shift phenomenon may occur after several sessions and this may lead to a listening fatigue effect. Fourteen subjects participated in the first part of the experiment and all of them have the normal hearing thresholds. The stimuli contained the musical material with introduced changes in sound spectrum up to ±6 dB in low (100 Hz), middle (1 kHz) and high frequency (10 kHz) octave bands. In the second part of research five subjects listened to musical samples with introduced envelope changes up to ±6 dB in interval of 1 s. The time of loud music exposure was 60, 90 and 120 minutes and this material was completely different from the tested samples. It turned out that listening to the music with an Leq = 90 dB for 1 hour influences the hearing thresholds for middle frequency region (about 1–2 kHz) and this has been reflected in a perception of spectral changes. The perceived peaks/notches of 3 dB have the detection ability at 70% and the changes of low and high ranges of spectrum were perceived at the similar level. After the longer exposure, the thresholds shifted up to 4.5 dB for the all investigated stimuli. It has been also found that hearing fatigue after 1 hour of a listening influences the perception of envelope which gets worse of 2 dB in comparison to the fresh-ear listening. When time of listening to the loud music increases, the changes in envelopes which can be detected rise to the value of 6 dB after 90-minutes exposure and it does not increase with further prolongation of listening time.

Artykuł przedstawia przegląd kluczowej polskiej i anglojęzycznej literatury dotyczącej barier zmiany edukacyjnej. Celem przeglądu była odpowiedź na pytanie: jakie są główne kategorie barier zmiany edukacyjnej wymieniane w piśmiennictwie naukowym? Na potrzeby przeglądu wyróżniono trzy poziomy występowania barier: poziom makro, mezo i mikro. Na poziomie makro najczęściej wskazywano na politykę oświatową państwa oraz dominujący w edukacji paradygmat. Na poziomie mezo wskazywano na politykę oświatową samorządu, kulturową oczywistość szkoły, szkolną kulturę, hiperinnowacyjność, kwestie organizacyjne i związane z przywództwem, edukację nauczycieli oraz zasoby potrzebne do przeprowadzenia zmiany. Na poziomie mikro wyróżniono opór nauczycieli wobec zmian, sytuację nauczycieli-innowatorów oraz ubezwłasnowolnienie mentalne nauczycieli.
The article presents a review of a key Polish and English literature about barriers in educational change. The aim of the review was an answer to the following question: what are the main categories of barriers in educational changes in academic papers? For the review purposes three levels of barrier appearance were distinguished: macro, mezzo and micro. At the macro level a state educational policy was most often indicated as well as the paradigm that dominates in education. At the mezzo level the educational policy of local self-government was mentioned as well as the school culture, hyper-innovativeness, organisational and leadership issues, teachers education and resources need for making a change. The micro level includes teachers’ resistance against a change, the status of teachers-innovators and teachers’mental incapacitation.

Thanks to the interplay of these two forces, the ‘European dimension’ in higher education has emerged, thus making it more desirable around the world.

The subject of the presented work is the analysis of situations changeability in frame of constructed logic LCG. In the suggested interpretation, substantial change (substantial movement), which consists of the disappearing of a certain substance a1 and the coming into being of substance a2, for which a1 is an active potentia, is understood in the following manner - the elementary fact: essence a1 exists becomes fiction and a new fact arises: essence a2 exists, which is enabled by the previous one. In the language of our formalisation this "transition" from fact to fiction, which occurs in the case of the situation: essence a1 exists, described as C-change. The second component of substantial movement (or rather its situational equivalent) is the occurring of a new fact: essence a2 exists, which is possible under the condition of an earlier occurring of the fact: essence a1 exists. We describe this aspect of movement as G-change, which is an expansion of a set of formulas by a new elementary sentence and expressions in which this sentence occurs. Within the range of the LCG calculus operators C and G obtain an interpretation wider than the one which can be determined upon the basis of the Aristotelian theory of change expressed in terms of situational ontology. Semantical and syntactical characteristics of the LCG logic gives the possibility to compare it with such known calculi of changes like sentential systems of von Wright, Clifford and Wajszczyk.

Optical cables and fibers are extremely sensitive for mechanical, thermal and environmental conditions, which can affect their optical performance. This article describes known reasons and mechanisms responsible for dimensional changes in temperatures cycling, which can influence optical and mechanical performance and properties of the cables, including internal cable components. Understanding all physical and chemical mechanisms which meet different manufacturing parameters, various materials properties and external conditions allows to control and reduction of cable shrinking and as a result, improving mechanical and optical performance of optical cables.

In this paper we present the systemic changes in education in Lithuania as well as the simultaneous movement towards inclusive education. Lithuania is following an international approach on inclusive education (UNECSO, 2008). The latter understanding prompted a shift of focus – from disorder towards human rights and needs. It is legally recognised, that children with special educational needs have a need for assistance and services in the education process that occurs due to being exceptionally gifted, having congenital or acquired disorders or disadvantages in their personal surroundings. The authors of the paper aimed to overview the systemic changes of the Lithuanian education system leading towards inclusive education. The research was based on systems theory taking into account two general approaches: 1) a cross-sectional approach – with a focus on the interactions that take place between two or more systems, and 2) a developmental approach – with a focus on the changes occurring in a system over time. Documentary review as well as meta-analysis have been employed as the methods of the exploratory study. The paper discloses that the systemic changes cover developments in educational policies and practices, including the financial and administrative framework, educational support through Pedagogical Psychological Services, and teacher training for inclusive education
W niniejszym artykule przedstawione zostały zmiany systemowe w strukturze edukacji na Litwie; prezentujemy również ruch na rzecz kształcenia integracyjnego. Litwa stosuje międzynarodowe podejście do kształcenia integracyjnego (UNECSO, 2008). Zrozumienie tego rodzaju edukacji spowodowało przesunięcie uwagi od zaburzeń do praw i potrzeb człowieka. W świetle prawa uznaje się, że dla dzieci ze specjalnymi potrzebami edukacyjnymi niezbędna jest pomoc i opieka w procesie edukacji, która pojawia się w związku z ich wyjątkowym talentem, wrodzonymi lub nabytymi zaburzeniami lub niekorzystną sytuacją w otoczeniu osobistym. Celem autorów opracowania jest przegląd zmian systemowych litewskiego systemu edukacji prowadzących do kształcenia integracyjnego. Podstawą badań była teoria systemów przy uwzględnieniu dwóch ogólnych podejść: 1) podejścia przekrojowego, w którym nacisk kładzie się na interakcje zachodzące między dwoma lub większą liczbą systemów, oraz 2) podejścia rozwojowego, w którym szczególnie uwzględnienia się zmiany zachodzące w systemie z biegiem czasu. Zastosowanymi metodami badań poszukiwawczych były przegląd dokumentacji oraz metaanaliza. W opracowaniu wykazano, że zmiany systemowe dotyczą rozwoju strategii i praktyk edukacyjnych, ram finansowych i administracyjnych, wsparcia edukacyjne poprzez usługi psychologiczno-pedagogiczne oraz szkolenia nauczycieli w zakresie kształcenia integracyjnego.

W artykule przedstawiono propozycję testu pozwalającego na wykrywanie zmian trendu. Proponowana procedura odwołuje się do testu permutacyjnego. Zastosowanie takiej procedury testowej pozwoliło na przyjęcie dość ogólnych założeń. W szczególności proponowana metoda może być wykorzystywana do wykrywania pojawienia się trendu. W takim przypadku możliwe jest wykorzystanie metody do monitorowania procesów produkcyjnych. Proponowane rozwiązanie porównano ze znanymi z literatury rozwiązaniami z wykorzystaniem symulacji komputerowych.
This article presents a proposal of the test for detecting changes in trend. The proposed procedure refers to the permutation test. The use of this procedure allowed the adoption of fairly general assumptions. The proposed method can be used, in particular to detect the appearance of the trend. In this case, it is possible to use this method to monitor industrial processes. The proposed method was compared with known from literature methods used to detect disturbances in monitoring processes. For comparing procedures computer simulations were used.

The aim of our paper is to offer a brief survey of the stages of development of industrial productionin Hungary and the transfomation that followed the changing of Hungary’s political system, as well as the maintrends in the contemporary process of re-industrialization. Hungarian industry has long traditions; as early asthe beginning of the 20th century, in certain branches, it was among the leading countries in the world. Afterthe fall of the centrally planned economy of the communist system and following the crisis treatment policiesof the post-communist years, Hungarian industry, today, has to survive in an open economy. The process ofre-industrializaton in Hungary is, basically, an integral part of global industrial change while, at the same time,it is largely dependent on local industrial developments. The volume indices, the value of industrial investmentsand the number of employees in industry, are all indicators of a positive change. The processing industryrepresents a considerable proportion of industrial production in Hungary and, in addition, vehicle manufacturingis the most dynamically developing segment. At the same time, industry in Hungary can still be characterizedby a dual structure; more than two thirds of its production value us produced by large companies.Small- and medium-sized companies have the possibility of being integrated into the production structure assuppliers. Some of Hungary’s traditional industrial branches have deteriorated, while other segments havebeen able to change their structure and become dynamic again. The main focus of industrial production – dueto capital investments by foreigners – has shifted towards the west, and the largest portion of its productionvalue now comes from Hungary’s western and central Transdanubian regions. The process of re-industralizationis beneficial for those regions in which there is an adequate and ready supply of human resources.

The political transformation in Poland, initiated in the first half of 1989, was the beginning of deep, systemic changes in all mechanisms of collective life and public authority. The transformations were characterized as complex and multifaceted, which generated new conflicts and socially perceptible costs. However, such deep changes were necessary because they opened the way for Poland and Polish society towards European standards of organization and activity of all entities of public life. The most important principles on the basis of which the new constitutional model of the state was built were deconcentrating the authority mechanism and decentralizing its powers. This meant that the administration alsobecame a very important area of transformational changes. In this regard, a special role was played by actions aimed at reconstructinglocal government which was to become an integral part of the new public authority system and to carry out a significant part of public tasks.

Overview of the models was carried out with particular emphasis on the problems encountered during the nonlinear equation solution, commonly used to describe the morphology of the bottom in the coastal zone of the sea. In contrast to the commonly used approach, it is proposed a linear relationship between volumetric flow of sediments transport rate and thickness of the layer of sediment grains, closely adjacent to each other and staying in motion. This linear relationship allows to precisely define the initial - boundary conditions and to apply the numerical scheme of finite difference method of „upwind” at the accuracy of the first order, not distorted by numerical errors. The author’s method also allows to implement changes to the description of the bathymetry of simultaneous changes in the distributions of the sediment grain size.

Opis:
This paper deals with the evaluation of changes in hardness of magnesium alloys during precipitation hardening that are nowadays widely used in different fields of industry. It focuses exactly on AZ31, AZ61 and AZ91 alloys. Observing material hardness changes serves as an effective tool for determining precipitation hardening parameters, such as temperature and time. Brinell hardness measurement was chosen based on experimental needs. There was also necessary to make chemical composition analysis and to observe the microstructures of tested materials. The obtained results are presented and discussed in this paper.

Opis:
Good understanding of relations between historical land cover changes and accompanying environmental components should be a starting point for landscape modelling and forecasting its future patterns. Analysis presented here focuses on the relationships between chosen environmental conditions and agricultural land cover changes in the period of over 150 years. The study area consisted of fragments of Nidziańska Basin and South Pomeranian Lake District macroregions. The land cover data was derived from a number of archival and contemporary topographical maps. Long-term changes of land cover were then related to underlying landscape elements (geological deposits and morphometric landforms). With the help of canonical analysis major correlations were identified and described.

The subject of this article are the structural changes in the armaments industry in Poland after 1990 regarding the background of worldwide transformations that took place at that time, in particular related to the consolidation of enterprises. The aim of the article is to provide answers to the following questions about the current structure of Polish armaments industry. First – to what extent is the structure similar to the concentrated model of the USA and Western Europe arms industry? Second – is the structure of Polish arms industry suitable for rebuilding its position on the global armaments market in the conditions of gradual reduction of protectionist barriers in Europe? Various research methods have been used to achieve the goal of the article. The basic one becomes the analysis of Polish and foreign literature of the subject and unpublished materials from the former Ministry of Economy. The second method – qualitative – uses the technique of free interview. The author interviewed nearly 20 chief-executive officers of Polish armament companies during several specialist military equipment and armament fairs in 2016 and 2017. The basic conclusions of the research are not optimistic. While the structure of Polish arms industry is not very close to the solutions applied in the US and Western Europe, it is more related to the concentrated models in national structures (holdings and concerns) characteristic for Central and Eastern European countries, the process of concentration was executed too slowly and in a random way. Nevertheless, the main problem is that existing structure does not improve the competitiveness of the Polish arms industry in the face of dynamic changes in the European one.
Przedmiotem artykułu są zmiany strukturalne w przemyśle zbrojeniowym w Polsce po 1990 roku na tle przeobrażeń, jakie zachodziły w tym przemyśle na świecie, w tym w szczególności związane z konsolidacją przedsiębiorstw. Celem artykułu jest znalezienie odpowiedzi na dwa pytania dotyczące obecnej struktury polskiego przemysłu zbrojeniowego. Pierwsze pytanie to – w jakim stopniu ta struktura jest podobna do modelu koncentracji przemysłu zbrojeniowego w USA i Europie Zachodniej. Drugie – czy struktura polskiego przemysłu zbrojeniowego jest odpowiednia do odbudowy pozycji tego przemysłu na światowym rynku zbrojeniowym w warunkach stopniowego ograniczania barier protekcjonistycznych w Europie. Aby zrealizować cel artykułu, zastosowano różne metody badawcze. Podstawowa to analiza polskiej i zagranicznej literatury przedmiotu oraz niepublikowanych materiałów z byłego Ministerstwa Gospodarki. Druga to metoda jakościowa z wykorzystaniem techniki wywiadu swobodnego. Autor przeprowadził wywiady z prawie 20 szefami polskich firm zbrojeniowych w trakcie kilku targów specjalistycznych sprzętu i uzbrojenia wojskowego w 2016 i 2017 roku. Podstawowe wnioski z badań nie są optymistyczne. O ile struktura polskiego przemysłu zbrojeniowego jest w niewielkim zakresie zbliżona do rozwiązań, jakie przyjęto w USA i Europie Zachodniej, raczej bliższa jest modelowi koncentracji w narodowe struktury (holdingi i koncerny) charakterystyczne dla państw Europy Środkowo-Wschodniej, o tyle sam proces koncentracji następował zbyt powoli i w sposób nieco przypadkowy. Głównym problemem jest jednak to, że tak ukształtowana struktura nie zapewnia poprawy konkurencyjności polskiego przemysłu zbrojeniowego wobec szybko nadchodzących zmian w europejskim przemyśle zbrojeniowym.

The main aim of the author was to analyse the population changes of small towns in Poland between 2002 and 2012. Small towns’ reaction to the global and regional demographic trends confirms their position between the rural areas and the urban municipalities. The differences between separate towns are significant, however those located within the metropolitan areas in Poland show a positive population dynamics, natural growth and migration balance net indexes. The image of small towns in terms of demographic changes is for that reason adequate to their socio-economic situation. However the question of the development of small satellite towns is asked as the functions are often leached to the core areas of the metropolis. The emerging problem of the depopulation of the vast majority of towns is also stressed in the paper. The depopulation types (in Webb typology) concern nearly 72% of all Polish small towns.

Obviously the study of this paper consists on identifying and why not in addressing the important factors underlying the bailiff office in Albania and changes in the form of organization, under the administrative and implementing reforms in law. The paper also introduces some changes in national law, private or state organizational form. The Bailiff Section in Albania serves two key roles as part of the Judiciary. Both roles help to ensure that justice is fairly administered and carry to its proper conclusion. The Bailiffs and their assistants serve summonses and other important legal documents on parties as required by a Court or Tribunal, or as requested by a person who is a party to litigation, as an instance, a court or tribunal sentence which parties are required to attend. Surely it cannot proceed unless there is proof that the parties concerned have had the summonses attending properly served on them in a specified way by law. The judicial power is one of the most important issues on the legal state. As stated in the Albanian constitution, one basic principle is: equality and control between governments. Our paper research will analyze the justice reforms in Albania; will analyze bailiff organizational management (private or state form).

Objective: To assess the contributing factors for development of skin changes and local complications in the pediatric and adolescent population who underwent bone-anchored implantation (BAI). Methods: Retrospective chart review of pediatric and adolescent patients (age 0–17 years) who underwent BAI for mixed hearing loss, conductive hearing loss, and single-sided deafness, at a tertiary care academic center. Demographic, clinical, implant type and surgical variables were collected and analyzed to identify their contribution to the development of skin changes and local complications. Results: Thirty-nine BAI surgeries were performed in 28 subjects during the review period. The mean age of implantation was 10.5 ± 3.4 years (5–16 years). Skin changes and local complications occurred in 61.5% (24/39) of BAIs performed. In total, 75% (18/24) were attributed to local complications, and 25% (6/24) to skin changes. Revision surgery was required in 41.0% (16/39) of cases. The mean age upon revision with either skin changes or local complications, local complications alone, and skin changes alone was 14.6 ± 3.3 years (7.25–19), 13.4 ± 4.0 years (7.3–17), and 16.1 ± 1.2 years (13.8–17) respectively with no difference between the groups. Among implants with skin changes and local complications the abutment survival was found to be 33.3% at 6.75 years following implantation. No significant difference of demographic and clinical factors was noted when looking at cases with and without skin changes and local complications. Higher rates of skin changes and local complications were noted in two-stage techniques, non-linear incision and the use of absorbable sutures. Conclusion: Fewer skin changes/local complications were observed with linear incision/punch technique, single stage, and non-absorbable skin sutures. Abutment survival with skin changes and local complications plateaus at 6.75 years following implantation. The potential need for revision surgery and longer abutment replacement during puberty, presumably when scalp soft tissue thickens, should be considered prior to initial implantation of younger children, with information given to their care givers

This study presents a review of theoretical concepts described in the literature that explain how corporate events might be perceived by investors. The theoretical discussion in this paper is related to three corporate events: CEO turnovers, dividend payouts, and block trades. The objective of this analysis is to identify and systemise the theoretical background for the drivers of shareholders’ responses to these three corporate decisions. In other words, I will provide answers to the following questions: why is the market reaction sometimes positive and other times negative, and why is it sometimes stronger and other times weaker? Based on the literature review, I will show that each of the analysed corporate events might be perceived by shareholders as either positive or negative signals concerning perspectives and future cash flows. Consequently, corporate events might drive share prices up or down. However, shareholder reaction to one type of the event, such as CEO turnovers, will not always be homogeneous – only positive or negative. The strength of this reaction may also vary. The main reasons for these variations are the effectiveness of corporate governance mechanisms, investors’ perceptions of the event, the event’s peculiarities, and the company’s characteristics, as well as other relevant circumstances and factors.

Distributed Stochastic Search Algorithm (DSSA) is one of state-of-the-art distributed algorithms for the ship collision avoidance problem. In DSSA, whenever a ship encounters with any number of other ships (neighboring ships), she will select her course with a minimum cost after coordinating their decisions with her neighboring ships. The original DSSA assumes that ships can change only their courses while keeping their speed considering kinematic properties of ships in general. However, considering future possibilities to address more complex situations that may cause ship collision or to deal with collision of other vehicles (such as mobile robots or drones), the options of speed changes are necessary for DSSA to make itself more flexible and extensive. In this paper, we present DSSA+, as a generalization of DSSA, in which speed change are naturally incorporated as decision variables in the original DSSA. Experimental evaluations are provided to show how powerful this generalization is.

W bogatej literaturze dotyczącej obecności WWA w środowisku znajdują się także pozycje potwierdzające występowanie tych związków w glebach i osadach ściekowych. Zawartość WWA w glebach zależy od rodzaju gleby (piaszczyste, gliniaste), miejsca jej występowania (tereny narażone na zanieczyszczenia antropogenne, nie narażone, leśne,) oraz sposobu użytkowania [1÷3]. Stopień zanieczyszczenia osadów ściekowych jest ściśle związany z obciążeniem ścieków poliaromatami. Zależy więc od rodzaju ścieków (różne odpływy przemysłowe, bytowe, opadowe) oraz od stopnia zmineralizowania materii organicznej [4÷6].
The Polish legislation demand control of heavy metals and pathogen organisms only in sewage sludge to be applied in the agriculture. However, the presence of toxic organic micropollutants such as PAHs in sewage sludge should be taken into account. Changes in the concentration of PAHs were analysed in this study. The digested and dewatered sewage sludge from municipal treatment plant and soil from agriculture area were used. The concentration of the these compounds was analysed in soil samples with added sludges and after one, two, three and four weeks of incubation of samples, respectively. The samples under biotic and abiotic conditions were incubated. 16 PAHs according to EPA were determined. The extraction of the organic solvents were used. For sewage sludge samples mixture of dichloro-methane and cyclohexane were used. For solid samples and mixture of solid and sewage sludge samples petrol ether as solvents were used. The extraction in ultrasonic batch were done. The extracts were separated from samples, purified on silica gel and concentrated under nitrogen stream. PAHs were determined using GC-MS. The limit of detection was in the range from 0.14 to 0.59 jug/L. The sum of 16 PAHs in sewage sludge taken from a municipal treatment plant was in the range of 1584 to 1912 |ng/kg.s.m. The content of hydrocarbons in soil was 218.5 ug/kg.s.m in average. The fluctuation in the concentration of PAHs both in the mixture of soil and sewage sludge under biotic and abiotic conditions were observed. After four weeks of the experiment in the soil supplemented with sewage sludge under biotic conditions, the contents of PAHs was lower than initial concentration of 28%. The final content of PAHs in samples under abiotic condition was lower than initial content of 26%. The fluctuations in the concentration both in the individual hydrocarbons and of the total contents were observed.

Financial, political, ideological, sociological, cultural and existential transitions in Poland are experienced as a far more complex process than what it seemed in the beginning. The challenges Poles are facing in a new, democratic society, in some ways, are more demanding than those in a socialist one. In this article, the author presents sociological data, gathered by the Public Opinion Research Centre in Poland, showing the public opinion about the change in the system since 1989. The evaluation of the social consequences of transformation is not unequivocal. 37 % believe that the post-1989 changes brought more benefits than losses to the people. On the negative side, Poles note the increase in individualism and weakening of interpersonal ties. Negative public sentiment grew in Poland especially after 2009, five years after Polish accession to the European Union when the average salary of Poles accounted for about 25-30% of earnings in Western Europe, many people could not find employment in Poland and so they had to migrate to Western Europe.

Przepisy techniczne dotyczące dróg opracowane były na podstawie doświadczeń sprzed dwudziestu lat. W tym czasie nastąpił znaczący postęp technologiczny zarówno w zakresie dróg jak i pojazdów. Nowe doświadczenia i badania naukowe wykonane w różnych krajach upoważniają nas do zrewidowania i uaktualnienia przepisów. W szczególności wydaje się pożądane zrewidowanie zapisów dotyczących odległości widoczności na zatrzymanie aby projekty drogowe uczynić tańszymi i bardziej efektywnymi.
Technical regulations for roads were prepared on the base of experience before twenty years ago. Significant technological progress in both roads and vehicles has been done since that time. New experience and research made in various countries authorize us to revise and up-date the regulations. In particular, revision of stopping sight distance seems to be desired in order to make the road projects cheaper and more efficient.

Development of rural infrastructure mean for rural residents new opportunities to meet the needs. The use of these options resulted in a change of the level and structure of their expenditure. The more widely benefited from infrastructure facilities and private transport. More attention was paid to the comfort of life. More and more homes were modernized and-equipped with a water supply and heating. Increased participation in culture, leisure and recreation.

The aim of the study was to answer the question about changes in self-efficacy, coping strategies, and well-being during residential alcohol addiction psychotherapy. Correlations between these changes were also explored. The participants were 60 patients of a specialized alcohol addiction treatment center attending structural-strategic residential group therapy. Self-efficacy, well-being (two indicators: satisfaction with life and depression), and coping strategies (four indicators: problem-focused, emotion-focused, and meaning-focused strategies plus seeking social support) were assessed twice: at admission and then at the end of the treatment, i.e., six weeks later. The tools used for this purpose were, respectively: Schwarzer et al.’s Generalized Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES), Diener et al.’s Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), and Gruszczyńska’s Coping Questionnaire (KRS). The results of bivariate latent growth curve analysis with bootstrapping show a decrease in depression as well as an increase in strategies focused on problem, on meaning, and on seeking social support. All these changes were positively correlated, which indicates that the intensification of coping is connected with a decrease in depression. Additionally, pretest coping intensity was shown to moderate changes in satisfaction with life, which increased only in the “low copers” group. For the remaining variables, significant interindividual variances were found regarding both the starting points and the rates of change. Thus, results indicate the need for analyzing changes during treatment from two perspectives: in terms of group means and in terms of variance around these means, which capture interindividual variability in the change process.
