It is clear that humanbeings has destroyed the nature since the last quarter of the 19 th Century with start of industrial revaluation .In the beginning of the 21st century we faced extraordinary natural disasters as well as rainfall and temperature changes, rapid ice melting in different part of the world. All these mostly have occurred under the effect of climate change and forced a paradigm shift from demand or supply oriented harsh water development to use current water resources as efficient as possible. This logical approach is getting larger and larger as the years go by. Therefore near future water management concept will shift from building new and more water supply systems to better operating existing ones. The variation of water values in time and space has increasingly motivated efforts to address water scarcity and reduce water conflicts. Hydro-economic models represent spatially distributed water resource systems, infrastructure, management options and economic values in an integrated manner. In these tools water allocations and management are either driven by the economic value of water or economically evaluated to provide policy insights and reveal opportunities for better management. A central concept is that water demands are not fixed requirements but rather functions where quantities of water use at different times have varying total and marginal economic values. The 2015 World Economic Forum Global Risks Report ranked water as the number one risk factor. All these other sources of stress on water systems will be affected and/or exacerbated by climate change. This paper reviews the vital role of Hydro-Economics concept in a sustainable water management that will implement full cost recovery policy under the effect of climate change. It also focuses on the growing problems of allocation of water resources among competitive uses

Aside from the issues peace and stability, one of Afghanistan’s most vital needs is safe and reliable supplies of water. But Afghanistan faces certain economic, political, institutional problems to develop water resources potential. These problems will increase as the years go by. Afghanistan is one of the world’s poorest countries, with an economy largely based on subsistence agriculture. Afghan farmers depend on reliable, year-round sources of surface water and groundwater. Seasonal flows of streams and rivers fed by melting snowpack high in Afghanistan’s mountains recharge alluvial aquifers located in populated valleys and provide city dwellers with drinking water. The current population of Afghanistan is about 31 million and it is projected to increase by nearly 80 percent by the year 2050 to approximately 56 million. This will raise demand on the country’s already economic stressed water resources. Almost all of the river basins are transboundary in the country. The Country due to the political unrest has not participated in many of the agreements regulating water resources in Central Asia. its current “non-player” and "outsider" status of the Central Asian Hydropolitics has to be changed when starting water resources development. This could create an international dispute in future regional water sharing discussions. In addition, recent research suggests that global climate change could alter precipitation patterns in Afghanistan. In particular, both the amount and the timing of snowfall received at higher elevations could change, impacting the major source of water for many areas in Afghanistan. Development of Afghanistan’s most transboundary water resources is a vital need for its own national interest, but it is also directly related with a transboundary water management dispute issue in the region. In other words, Afghanistan should find the best way to develop its transboundary water resources for national development as well as peace and stability of the region. But this development won't be so easy if current amount of water use of riparian states will be same when Afghanistan plans to release smaller amount of water.

In this study, methyl jasmonate were applied to strawberry cultivars, and the pomological and biochemical characteristics of the fruits were investigated. The highest increase in fruit weight was determined in the Honeoye cultivar and it was detected in the application of 0.50 mM MeJa according to the control group. When the organic acid contents of fruits were examined, it was determined that the dominant acid was citric acid and the maximum range (Control: 1.49 g kg⁻¹; 0.50 mM MeJa: 16.49 g kg⁻¹) was in the Seascape cultivar. When the ellagic acid content of the fruits was examined, the highest increase (Control: 13.350 mg 100 g⁻¹, 0.25 mM MeJa: 22.768 mg 100 g⁻¹) was found in the Sweet Ann cultivar. In this study, it was determined that appropriate concentrations of MeJa should be preferred in cultivation of strawberry and these concentrations affected the fruit quality parameters.

This research was conducted to address the experience of workplace violence of Turkish workers from different sectors and to investigate the impact of the exposed violence on their psychological well-being. Data were collected anonymously with printed questionnaires from the volunteer participants and depended on self-reporting. The response rate was 79.0% (1708/2161). The prevalence of workplace violence was found to be 44.8%. The most common type was verbal violence together with mobbing (bullying). Victims of physical violence were mostly males, whereas females were found to be victims of verbal, psychological and sexual violence. Most cases did not result in legal action and the victims remained silent. Psychological well-being of exposed workers in terms of depression, anxiety and stress seemed to deteriorate. Workplace violence remains a silent epidemic in Turkey. Preventive measures against workplace violence and social support for violated workers do not exist.

Opis:
Adsorption of Cu(II) and Ni(II) ions onto the waste powdered activated sludge biomass (PWB), which was obtained from the biological wastewater treatment plant, was investigated in this experimental study. The effects of contact time, pH, temperature, initial sorbate and sorbent concentrations on the adsorption were determined. The BET surface area, pore volume, and pore diameter of PWB were found to be about 0.51 m2/g, 0.0053 cm3/g, and 41.4 nm, respectively. Considering the R2  value, qexp  and qcal , the Langmuir and Freundlich models were well described for Cu(II) and Ni(II) adsorption, respectively. The adsorption mechanism of Cu(II) and Ni(II) onto the PWB could be better simulated by the pseudo-second-order kinetic mechanism than the pseudo-first-order, intra particle diffusion and Elovich models. Thermodynamic aspects of the adsorption of heavy metals were also investigated. Considering the applied desorbing agents for reuse of PWB for Ni(II) recovery, desorption cycle is not feasible due to the deterioration of the PWB structure.

The seeds of two safflower cultivars were investigated in order to determine their frictional and aerodynamic properties as a function of moisture content. The coefficients of dynamic friction of cultivars on aluminium, plywood, fibreglass and steel surfaces increased by 87, 56, 78, and 129% for cv. Remzibey-05 seed, and by 91, 31, 71, and 131% for cv. Dinçer seed, respectively, between the initial and final moisture content levels. The terminal velocities of the Remzibey-05 and Dinçer seeds increased by 15 and 11%, respectively, with increase in moisture content between the initial and final levels.

The Breit-Pauli approximation was used for relativistic contributions. The obtained values are compared with the experimental results from literature. The overall agreement between data obtained in this work and experimental data from literature can appear to be quite good being generally within 0.1% of experimental values.

The antioxidant activity of phytochemicals and of the methanolic extract of Lavandula stoechas was evaluated by β-carotene-linoleate bleaching, DPPH radical scavenging, ferric reducing/antioxidant power (FRAP). The obtained results were compared with antioxidant activities of synthetic antioxidants, such as BHT and BHA. The highest antioxidant activity of the extract was observed by DPPH radical scavenging assay, which was 84.45±5.1% at 1 mg ml¯¹. Rutin, rosmarinic acid, and caffeic acid were main phenolics in the extract. The total phenolic content of the methanolic extract of Lavandula stoechas was found to be 105.5±2.7 mg gallic acid equivalent (GAE). Electron spin resonance (ESR) measurements were also performed on the samples. Free radicals were determined by ESR method. g value was found to be 2.0034 for the Lavandula stoechas; 2.0052 for quercetin.

We presented the results of electrical and optical studies of the properties of $In_xGa_{1-x}N$ epitaxial layers (0.060≤x≤0.105) grown by metalorganic vapour phase epitaxy. Resistivity and Hall effect measurements of the samples were carried out at room temperature. Optical properties of the samples were characterized by photoluminescence and optical absorption spectroscopy. The comparison between the photoluminescence and the optical absorption measurements gives the Stokes shift. We explained the observed Stokes shift in terms of Burstein-Moss effect. The band gap versus composition plot for $In_xGa_{1-x}N$ alloys is well fitted with a bowing parameter of≈3.6 eV.

Seafaring is one of the world's most difficult professions. Seafarers have to face with many negative factors while they are at sea. These negative factors, makes the seafaring profession difficult to be preferred. Fatigue, stress, heavy weather conditions and lack of communication are some of these factors that affect seafarer’s occupational continuity and also make contribution to occurrence of marine accidents. Cadet is one of the seafarers who will be a navigation officer and captain in the near future. That’s why cadets have a significant role in maritime industry. Theoretical and practical training of cadets is very important. Purpose of this study was to examine deck cadets’ training conditions and difficulties they have to face with during their training period. In order to identify these difficulties, render their lives during trainings easier, and establish their expectations, questionnaire conducted with 618 deck cadets. Interviews were carried out with 3 trainers and 10 maritime companies that have substantial shares in Turkey’s maritime trade. As a result of this study identified factors that increase fatigue mostly, reduction measures have been exposed and have tried to offer solutions. This study is an advisory to improve the occupational continuity of cadets in the profession.

The fact that mines have to be established at the place where they are located without having a chance to choose a location brings out area usage conflicts with areas that need to be protected. In fact, forestlands are most common in these overlapping areas in Turkey. In order to perform mining activities in this overlapping forestlands, mining enterprises in Turkey receive forest land permit fees (FLPF), reforestation fees, rehabilitation fees + security deposit of conformity to the environment (SDCE), and other fees. In order to determine the share of these costs in mining investments and operating costs (OC) and to bring a solution proposal so that these costs do not pose a risk of loss of the investment in the mining enterprises, questions have been asked to mining enterprises within Turkey using the “Survey Monkey” program. The averages of all forest fees determined from the answers are proportioned to the mining investment amounts (MIA) and the annual average OC of each mining company responding to the Survey. Thus, the distribution criteria of different forest fees that are required to be paid by the mining enterprises in order to carry out mining operations in the forestlands in Turkey and their distribution on the basis of mineral groups were analyzed. In this calculation, it was suggested that all the fees in Turkey should be reduced to a more reasonable degree by suggesting solutions regarding the calculation method envisaged by the FLPF, which has a very high share. Otherwise, the result of these rates shows that the costs of forest land-use for mining stipulated by the legislation in Turkey are quite high compared to other countries, and that the current mining investments can have difficulty in maintaining their economic operability in the presence of these required costs.
Fakt, że kopalnie muszą być zakładane w miejscu, w którym się znajdują, bez możliwości wyboru lokalizacji, powoduje konflikty użytkowania obszaru z obszarami chronionymi. W rzeczywistości tereny leśne w Turcji występują najczęściej na obszarach eksploatacji górniczej. W celu prowadzenia działalności wydobywczej na tych obszarach leśnych przedsiębiorstwa górnicze w Turcji ponoszą opłaty za zezwolenie na użytkowanie gruntów leśnych (FLPF), opłaty za ponowne zalesianie, opłaty rewitalizacyjne + depozyt środków finansowych zabezpieczający zgodność ze środowiskiem (SDCE) i inne opłaty. Aby określić udział tych kosztów w inwestycjach górniczych i kosztach operacyjnych (OC) oraz przedstawić propozycję rozwiązania, aby koszty te nie stanowiły ryzyka utraty inwestycji w przedsiębiorstwach wydobywczych, zadawano pytania przedsiębiorstwom wydobywczym w Turcji za pomocą programu „Survey Monkey”. Średnie wartości wszystkich opłat leśnych ustalonych na podstawie odpowiedzi są proporcjonalne do kwot inwestycji górniczych (MIA) i średniej rocznej kosztów operacyjnych (OC) każdej firmy wydobywczej odpowiadającej na badanie. W związku z tym przeanalizowano kryteria dystrybucji różnych opłat leśnych, które przedsiębiorstwa górnicze muszą uiścić w celu prowadzenia działalności wydobywczej na terenach leśnych w Turcji, a także przeanalizowano ich rozkład na podstawie grup wielkości płatności FLPF. W tych obliczeniach zasugerowano, że wszystkie opłaty w Turcji należy obniżyć w bardziej rozsądnym stopniu poprzez zastosowanie rozwiązań dotyczących metody obliczania przewidzianej przez FLPF, której udział jest znaczący. W przeciwnym razie wynik tych stawek pokazuje, że koszty użytkowania gruntów leśnych w górnictwie określone przez ustawodawstwo w Turcji są dość wysokie w porównaniu z innymi krajami oraz, że obecne inwestycje górnicze mogą mieć trudności z utrzymaniem ich efektywności ekonomicznej.

In this study, 12 taxa from the Chlorophyta, Phaeophyta and Rhodophyta were collected from different depths at Gemlik-Karacaali and Erdek-Ormanlı. A total of 175 specimens from these divisions were used to determine Total Protein (TP), Total Soluble Carbohydrate (TSCH) and Chlorophyll a (Chl a), Chlorophyll b (Chl b), Chlorophyll c (Chl c), total carotenoid (Car) contents and Chl b/Chl a, Chl c/Chl a, Car/Chl a, Car/Chl b, Car/Chl c ratios. TP, TSCH and pigment contents varied significantly with respect to the algal taxa, stations and depth distribution. In addition, individual differences were important in all of the measured parameters. The maximum TP contents (0.94%–31.03%) were determined in some of the Rhodophyta. In some green seaweeds belonging to the genus Ulva L., the TP content was determined between 2.9%–28.1%. Lower TP contents were determined in Cystoseira barbata (Good) C. Agardh (1.1%–4.3%). In contrast to TP contents, TSCH values were very low; maximum TSCH were determined in Ulva species, as were protein contents. In conclusion, the variations in TP, TSCH and pigment in 12 taxa of macroalgae were analysed according to station, depth, and environment.
