Opis:
Clusters of energy are a new mechanism, meant to support development of modern power grids in Poland. In this article, we experimentally check the influence of a hypothetical presence of clusters on energy markets. We present a two level real time power market, where the power first is balanced within a cluster and then an inter-cluster trading is performed, in which the country power grid is a participant in the market. We show that it can be beneficial for all parties to maintain such a schema and that it is also a possible direction for further research.

Horacy seems to be the literary authority for Tibullus, and his cantos, especially I, 33 and III 12, might have suggested him the idea of showing the emotional relations between various subjects and protagonists. As a poeta doctus, observing the axioms of alexandrine poetics, he tackles the subjects (e.g. homosexual), interests (e.g. rustic), and especially composition rules (e.g. variatio) that were present in it. Despite his own biography he plays the role of a poor lover, alien to all military actions. He stresses his status of a poet that connects him to Lygdamus and Sulpicia, his literary creations, independent of their real models. Both Lygdamus and Sulpicia speak according to the elegiac convention, and the concurrence of motifs, imaging, and the style of Book III and the previous Books may be considered self-paraphrases. Also Panaegyricus Messalae may be an exceptional and marginal attempt to write something in a different genre, although one that would have compositional roots in the whole of Book III, with its construction analogous to the two previous ones, and also signed with the poet’s name. It is not different authors, but impersonating different egos and quoting utterances stylized in various ways that materialize the principle of variatio. For readers who always expect the author and the egos in his poetry to have the same biography the idea has proven too difficult even today. Hence multiplying the authors and the constant identifying of their biographies.

Opis:
Good quality communication in the family is a source of positive relations among its members. It is the most important characteristic of a well-functioning family. Very interesting perceptions of communication in the family are held by high achieving students. In those young people, communication in the family correlates negatively with their high grade point average. Also, they evaluate positively communication in the family as a whole but less positively one-to-one verbal interactions with the mother and the father. This observation is explained by the fact that the family forms a system. Moreover, communication is associated with positive relationships and attitudes such as acceptance and autonomy, but correlates negatively with control, over-demanding behaviour, and inconsistency in the parents of high achieving students.

W artykule omawiamy wybrane wyniki badań poświęconych praktykom diagnozowania kultury na poziomie gmin. Rozróżniamy dwie ogólne perspektywy, z których bada się i opisuje uczestników kultury oraz ich relacjez instytucjami kulturalnymi. Perspektywa potrzeb uczestników oznacza w praktyce badanie ich preferencji kul-turalnych i oczekiwań odnośnie do działalności instytucji. Implikuje to „jednowymiarowe” ujęcie kulturalnych potrzeb i sprowadza uczestników do roli odbiorców oferty instytucjonalnej. Perspektywa zasobów uczestnikówkładzie nacisk na ich indywidualne cechy i zbiorowe formy kapitału, które sprzyjają aktywności kulturalnej. Takie podejście przekłada się na bardziej podmiotowe ujęcie uczestników, których postrzega się w większym stopniu jako potencjalnych partnerów instytucji i współtwórców lokalnej kultury.

In this paper two methods for evolutionary algorithm control are proposed. The first one is a new method of tuning tlie probabilities of genetic operators. It is assumed in the presented approach that every member of the optimized population conducts his own ranking of genetic operators' qualities. This ranking enables computing the probabilities of execution of genetic operators. This set of probabilities is a basis of experience of every individual and according to this basis the individual chooses the operator in every iteration of the algorithm. Due to this experience one can maximize the chances of his offspring to survive. The second part of the paper deals with a self-adapting method of selection of individuals to a subsequent generation. Methods of selection applied in the evolutionary algorithms are usually inspired by nature and prefer solutions where the main role is played by randomness, competition and struggle among individuals. In the case of evolutionary algorithms, where populations of individuals are usually small, this causes a premature convergence to local minima. In order to avoid this drawback I propose to apply an approach based rather on an agricultural technique. Two new methods of object selection are proposed: a histogram selection and a mixed selection. The methods described were tested using examples based on scheduling and TSP.

The article presents a method of analysis of market-based models for resource allocation in communication networks. It consists of several stages: classification of a market model, generation of input data, data adaptation to a tested model, test calculations and, finally, presentation and interpretation of results. A set of general criteria to assess various models has been proposed. Tests are run using dedicated computer applications, data is stored in open XML-based format originated in the multicommodity market model. Network topologies are derived from the SNDlib library.

The need to undertake research work on the commercialization of results from scientific research and development projects emerged from the Author’s professional experience as well as the incomprehensive literature on the role of Polish research institutes in the process of technology transfer and commercialization of innovative solutions, in particular in the case of mining machinery and equipment. From the available literature, the commercialization of research results and technology transfer are analyzed from the perspectives of academia and entrepreneurs, but there is no analysis of this challenge from the perspective of the research institutes which create the majority of innovative solutions implemented in Poland. The research results presented in this article identify and highlight not only the main factors which facilitate knowledge transfer in the widest sense, but also the barriers which should be overcome. An integrated commercialization model of research results, developed by the Author, is described in the article. Some examples of other models, used to assess innovative technology transfer processes, i.e. Transfer model of the Cracow University of Technology, Jolly’s model, United model (science + market), Trzmielak’s linear – subsequent model, Network – interactive model and IpOp model, are also presented. Special attention is paid to the process of generating innovative ideas and to the area of efficient project management. Based on the integrated model, practical management recommendations for the successful commercialization of innovative solutions are given. It is highlighted that the integrated model can be treated as a diagnostic tool, enabling an efficient assessment of the transfer of research results and commercialization of innovative solutions.

This article describes two evolutionary methods for dividing a graph into densely connected structures. The first method deals with the clustering problem, where the element order plays an important role. This formulation is very useful for a wide range of Decision Support System (DSS) applications. The proposed clustering method consists of two stages. The first is the stage of data matrix reorganization, using a specialized evolutionary algorithm. The second stage is the final clustering step and is performed using a simple clustering method (SCM). The second described method deals with a completely new partitioning algorithm, based on the subgraph structure we call α-clique. The α-clique is a generalization of the clique concept with the introduction of parameter α, which imposes for all vertices of the subgraph the minimal percentage (α*100%) of vertices of this subgraph that must be connected with vertices of this α-clique. Traditional clique is an instance of α-clique with α = 1. Application of this parameter makes it possible to control the degree (or strength) of connections among vertices (nodes) of this subgraph structure. The evolutionary approach is proposed as a method that enables finding separate α-cliques that cover the set of graph vertices.

W artykule podjęto próbę spojrzenia na zjawisko współpracy środowiska szkolnego i rodzinnego z perspektywy zdolności dzieci. U podłoża podjętych rozważań legło założenie, że wspólnota działań nauczycieli i rodziców zwiększa możliwości odkrywania oraz rozwijania zdolności dziewcząt i chłopców. Uzasadnienia tej tezy poszukiwać można w dominujących we współczesnym dyskursie rozwojowych koncepcjach zdolności, które akcentują ich dynamiczną i interakcyjną naturę. W kolejnych częściach tekstu przedstawiono modele powiązań między szkołą i rodziną dziecka zdolnego oraz wskazano obszary, w których przebiegać może efektywna współpraca obu środowisk.
The article endeavours to explore the cooperation of the school and family environment from the perspective of children’s giftedness. The considerations follow from the assumption that the cooperation of teachers and parents enhances the opportunities to discover and develop the abilities of girls and boys. This view is supported by the most popular conceptions of the present discourse, which emphasize their dynamic and interactive nature. The subsequent parts of the text present models of interaction between the school and the family of the gifted child and indicate the areas for the most effective cooperation of both environments.

Horace's Carmen saeculare has been given various evaluations so far. This being so, we are made to ask about the historico-literary context in which one should interpret this work, and which entitles us to characterize and evaluate it. The fact the poet introduced into the traditional form of hymn the current political affairs turned out to be the realization of the policies advocated by Augustus' propaganda (a genealogical, military, political and legislative aspect). Its expression were ludi saeculares alone. Their idea of the return of the golden age, bound with the person of Augustus, appeared as early as Virgil's poetry. The analogical symbolism of Carmen seaculare is also confirmed by the then iconography. In the structure of the work we find a counterpart of these links. It is the employment of the superior transmitting instance from without the text (Quindecemviri) and loading the dominating in the hymn preaction with the panegyric function.

RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: School achievements are an important dimension of human life and are conditioned by internal and external factors, to which family belongs. The purpose of this investigation was to answer the question how of high academic achievement students perceive their relationships in the family. THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: The Family Questionnaire was used in the version “My Family, My Father and My Mother,” developed by Plopa and Połomski. The subjects were 16 year-old students (n = 155), who achieved high scores in the lower secondary school test, and a comparative group with the average score (n = 161). THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: The students assessed relationships in their families in terms of the following dimensions: communication, cohesion, identity and autonomy-control. RESEARCH RESULTS: It was found that for students with high school performance, cohesion in relation to father is more important than for the comparative group. CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS: In addition, it was found that there are differences in the perception of family relationships on the basis of the gender of the studied students. Boys assessed cohesion and communication with their father on a higher level than girls. An interesting result of the study is a higher assessment of family identity in the perceptions of boys than girls.

The article deals with the Balkans image in post-Yugoslavian prose. The inhabitants of the peninsula try to respond to the opinions and perceptions that are related to them, created by the Western European Balkanistic discourse. Negative ideas have become the cause of complexes, a sense of injustice and resentment. That is why the inhabitants of the Balkans are looking for a way to escape from the Balkan identity. Scientists, writers and publicists strongly oppose the invidious, one-sided image of the Balkans. They are trying to prove that it is not quite in consonance with reality, and that the process of shaping the image of the Balkans was influenced not only by the Balkan nations, but also by the West.
Artykuł dotyczy obrazu Bałkanów w prozie postjugosławiańskiej. Mieszkańcy półwyspu próbują ustosunkować się wobec odnoszących się do nich opinii oraz wyobrażeń, wykreowanych przez zachodnioeuropejski dyskurs bałkanistyczny. Negatywne wyobrażenia stają się powodem kompleksów, poczucia niesprawiedliwości i żalu. Mieszkańcy Bałkanów szukają więc sposobu na ucieczkę od bałkańskiej tożsamości. Naukowcy, pisarze i publicyści głośno i zdecydowanie przeciwstawiają się krzywdzącemu, jednostronnemu wizerunkowi Bałkanów. Próbują udowodnić, że nie jest on do końca zgodny z rzeczywistością, zaś w procesie jego kształtowania udział miały nie tylko narody bałkańskie, ale także Zachód.

Opis:
Assessing hemocompatibility of anticancer drug candidate is very important task due to the fact that coagulation disorders are often correlated with malignancy or induced by chemotherapy. The aim of this study was to examine the influence of some polyamine conjugates with bicyclic systems on the process of coagulation and fibrinolysis. In addition their effect on the healthy human erythrocytes (RBCs) was assessed. Prothrombin Time (PT), Activated Partial Tromboplastin Time (APTT), clot formation and lysis test (CL-test) were performed to evaluate the influence of some polyamine conjugates on plasma hemostasis. The effects of tested compounds on RBCs were assessed using hemolysis assays and microscopy studies. APTT and PT examination revealed that all tested compounds apart from the highest concentrations of compounds 3 and 5 did not exert significant effects on intrinsic and extrinsic coagulation pathways. Despite their substantial influence on the kinetic parameters of the process of clot formation and fibrinolysis, the examined compounds, over the entire concentration range, did not alter the overall potential of clot formation and lysis (CLAUC) suggesting that they might be regarded as biocompatible concerning plasma hemostasis. At potential therapeutic concentrations (constituting IC50 value for MCF-7 cells) tested polyamine conjugates showed no adverse effects on the membranes of RBCs. Promising antiproliferative activity of representative polyamine conjugates together with their hemocompatibility make them good anticancer drug candidates for further preclinical evaluation.

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to summarize and evaluate previous research of Polish authors in the field of accounting ethics; identify the main trends in empirical research and organize the research findings; establish and assess the scope of reporting for individual elements of the research process; identify the research gaps that inspire further research. Methodology/approach: A systematic literature review was conducted, including bibliometric analysis and content analysis of 35 publications. Findings: Ethics in accounting as a research area is currently only at the development stage. At the same time, a variety of research interests is noticeable, the most common of which is to identify the motives and causes of unethical behavior. All studies except one were based on non-random sampling. The vast majority of the research was questionnaire; in half of the cases, the research group consisted of students. Recommendations were made regarding the methodological rigor of further research. The methodological shortcomings make it im-possible to replicate the research conducted so far. Thanks to the identification of research gaps, directions for further scientific research were determined. Research limitations/implications: The review was limited to scientific journals only due to the necessity to standardize the sources of publication of research results. Originality/value: Conclusions from the review may inspire others to undertake research in previously unexplored areas. It may also be a guide to ensure the best possible quality.

W artykule podjęto próbę spojrzenia na zjawisko współpracy środowiska szkolnego i rodzinnego z perspektywy zdolności dzieci. U podłoża podjętych rozważań legło założenie, że wspólnota działań nauczycieli i rodziców zwiększa możliwości odkrywania oraz rozwijania zdolności dziewcząt i chłopców. Uzasadnienia tej tezy poszukiwać można w dominujących we współczesnym dyskursie rozwojowych koncepcjach zdolności, które akcentują ich dynamiczną i interakcyjną naturę. W kolejnych częściach tekstu przedstawiono modele powiązań między szkołą i rodziną dziecka zdolnego oraz wskazano obszary, w których przebiegać może efektywna współpraca obu środowisk.
The article endeavours to explore the cooperation of the school and family environment from the perspective of children's giftedness. The considerations follow from the assumption that the co-operation of teachers and parents enhances the opportunities to discover and develop the abilities of girls and boys. This wiew is supported by the most popular conceptions of the present discourse, which emphasize their dynamic and interactive nature. The subsequent parts of the text present models of interactions between the school and the family of the gifted child and indicate the areas for the most effective cooperation of both environments.

Cel: Artykuł ma na celu: podsumowanie i ocenę dotychczasowej aktywności badawczej pol-skich autorów w dziedzinie etyki rachunkowości; wskazanie głównych nurtów badań empi-rycznych i uporządkowanie ustaleń badawczych; ustalenie i ocenę zakresu raportowania poszczególnych elementów procesu badawczego; wyłonienie luk poznawczych, stanowią-cych inspirację do podjęcia dalszych badań. Metodyka/podejście badawcze: Wykorzystano metodę systematycznego przeglądu lite-ratury, w tym analizy bibliometrycznej oraz analizy treści 35 publikacji. Wyniki: Etyka w rachunkowości jako obszar badawczy znajduje się obecnie dopiero na etapie rozwoju. Zauważa się przy tym rozproszenie zainteresowań badawczych. Najczęściej podej-mowanym wątkiem badawczym było zidentyfikowanie motywów i przyczyn nieetycznych zachowań. Wszystkie badania, z wyjątkiem jednego, opierały się na nielosowym doborze próby. Zdecydowana większość badań miała charakter ankietowy, gdzie w połowie przy-padków grupę badawczą stanowili studenci. Sformułowano zalecenia odnośnie do rygoru metodologicznego dalszych badań, ponieważ zauważone braki w tym zakresie uniemożli-wiają replikację tych dotychczasowych. Ponadto dzięki zidentyfikowaniu luk badawczych określono kierunki dalszych dociekań naukowych. Ograniczenia/implikacje badawcze: Ograniczenie przeglądu wyłącznie do czasopism naukowych wynikało z konieczności ujednolicenia źródeł publikacji wyników badań. Oryginalność/wartość: Wnioski z dokonanego przeglądu mogą stanowić inspirację do podejmowania badań w nieeksplorowanych dotąd obszarach, a także być wskazówką do zapewnienia jak najlepszej ich jakości.

The aim of the research is to increase the knowledge of self-esteem and quality of communication in marriage in women after childbirth, taking into account the number of their children. The research group included 95 women after childbirth who completed the authors’ own sociodemographic questionnaire and two psychological standardized measures, the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (SES) and Marriage Communication Questionnaire by Kaźmierczak and Plopa. It was found that self-esteem proved to be a positive predictor of perceived support and commitment provided by the partner only among mothers of two or more children, whereas in single mothers perceived support did not depend on the woman’s self-esteem. At the first birth, the support from the partner is not related to the mother’s level of self-esteem.

Opis:
Commercialization processes of research and development project results are costly and risky. That is why it is indispensable to analyze all the advantages and disadvantages very thoroughly as well as to identify potential risks and barriers which may emerge during commercialization processes of innovative solutions. The Authors presented in the article the results of their research work results oriented onto an identification potential barriers based on analyses of case studies carried out according to the Integrated Commercialization Model (ICM), developed by them. They highlighted the role of marketing communication in commercialization processes, giving some examples of mistakes commonly made and suggesting a new paradigm of marketing activities with use of the state-of-the-art efficient carriers of marketing information e.g. Internet, Intranet, Social Media etc. Marketing communication is presented as a complex tool enabling to strengthen collaborative relationships between science and industry within the framework of creating and implementing innovative solutions. The article also contains some recommendations and guidelines concerning thresholds and barriers impeding a successful transition of commercialization processes of R&D results and of technology transfer.

The article presents some strategic aspects of the KOMAG Institute of Mining Technology in the field of creating innovative ideas and innovative technical solutions concerning machinery and devices for mining and preparation of minerals as regards their operational safety, productivity and reliability. Special attention is paid to a process of stimulating innovative ideas in a creative atmosphere, as KOMAG researchers and engineers are encouraged to be open-minded and to think in an unconventional way. Two examples of innovative technical solutions are described in detail, i.e. the water-and-air dust control system and the KOMTRACK haulage system for highly productive longwall systems of a new generation. The article contributes significantly to Innovation Engineering which is an important component of Production Engineering in the scope of generating and implementing innovative solutions. The authors presented an ecosystem of innovations, describing several methods of creating innovative ideas. The article concentrates on a role of Polish research institutes which play a key role in creating and implementing innovative solutions, bridging science and industry. Due to an analysis of different methods of generating innovative technical ideas and solutions, it can be concluded that an idea and a need of generating an innovative solution may appear in the research institute or at the industrial partner’s organization. In the case of the KOMAG multi-year experience and practice industrial partners include not only producers of mining machinery and equipment, but also representatives of mines of minerals. In general an innovative idea is generated in the result of an inspiration from the business environment and then it is transformed into an innovative product or service. The article contains the authors’ practical recommendations as regards a creation of innovative technical solutions. It is ended with a summary of general character and with some final conclusions.

In this paper, we approach the Airport Gate Assignment Problem by Multi-objective Optimization as well as Evolutionary Multi-objective Optimization. We solve a bi-criteria formulation of this problem by the commercial mixed-integer programming solver CPLEX and a dedicated Evolutionary Multi-objective Optimization algorithm. To deal with multiple objectives, we apply a methodology that we developed earlier to capture decision-maker preferences in multi-objective environments. We present the results of numerical tests for these two approaches.

Opis:
3D printing, 3D scanning and reverse engineering may constitute a significant breakthrough in research all over the world, especially within medical and military technologies. Particularly 3D printing seems to be a promising method to produce 3D objects manufactured layer-by-layer. The broader use of the above technologies may allow customization of various products and lower costs of design and production. At the same time progress in 3D printing technologies needs to be monitored and analyzed in order to deal with possible future threats. This article aims at investigating the extent to which the military and biomedical applications of 3D scanners and 3D printers are exploited, including in the framework of the authors’ own concepts, studies and observations.
