Opis:
The study was conducted in July - August 2018 with the aim of analyzing the concentration of lead heavy metals (Pb) in water, sediment and macrozoobenthos in the Karangsong waters area, Indramayu Regency. The research method used is a survey method with purposive sampling technique that is the determination of location based on the existence of certain objectives and in accordance with various considerations, then observed the content of lead metal (Pb) in the Central Laboratory of Padjadjaran University. The research was conducted in situ and exsitu. Parameters of insitu research include temperature, pH and DO carried out in Karangsong waters, Indramayu Regency. Exsitu research parameters include testing of lead metal (Pb) on water, sediment and macrozoobenthos conducted at the Central Laboratory of Padjadjaran University. The results showed that the Pb concentration in the Karangsong waters had exceeded the threshold, which ranged between 1,05 – 1,33 mg/l, while the Pb concentration in sediment was higher than the Pb concentration in water. Lead metal in sediment has not exceeded the threshold. The ability of macrozoobenthos to accumulate lead metal in water and sediment (Bioconcentration Factor / BCF) is included in the low accumulative category because BCF is less than 100.

Opis:
This research aimed to find out the condition of coral cover and the distribution or spreading of coral reefs in the waters of Biawak Island using coral reef monitoring. Several supporting aspects that were also required to know were the percentage value of coral cover, diversity index, uniformity index, similarity index, dominance index, and the value of coral mortality, to support the activities of the management of coral reef of Biawak Island. This research was conducted in the waters of Biawak Island, Indramayu Regency, West Java. The research was conducted using a survey method through field data collection. Quantitative and qualitative data collection was conducted using the line transect method (Line Intercept Transect / LIT) to collect data on 3 stations at a depth of 3 and 7 feet using 3 replicates per station. Distribution of corals in the waters of Biawak Island was spread evenly, known from the percentage of frequency of coral lifeform converge which was found mostly above 50%, a low dominance index ranged from 0.128 to 0.216, a diversity index ranged from 1.884 to 2.246, and supported also by the similarity index value ranged from 95.24% - 100.00%. The condition of coral reefs in the waters of Biawak Island ranged from a poor to moderate criteria whereas the percentage of coral cover obtained was between to 17.04% to 44.93%.

Opis:
This article discusses the ability of the Cellular Automata (CA) Markov method to project rice sufficiency by considering the conversion of massive rice fields, such as the ones in Indonesia. The conversion of rice fields into land use for non-farming due to the rapidly growing population, industry and economic needs is increasingly affecting the rice self-sufficiency. With the development of remote sensing techniques, such as CA Markov, which has been used for years in spatial change projection, there is a need to assess the rice field conversion and its impact on the rice field self-sufficiency. The process is not solely based on CA Markov but also includes an object-based classification method utilising multi-temporal spot image data to derive land use maps, CA Markov for rice field conversion projection and rice self-sufficiency assessment, which was developed by assessing the availability of rice, consumption and production. Using the Indramayu district as the study area, the results indicate that within the next 20 years, the rice field area will decrease, and the impact on rice self-sufficiency will be 5.34 for Business as usual (BAU) and 0.47 when considering population growth. The previous research validated the results and indicated the efficiency of this method for rice self-sufficiency projection. Moreover, a management assessment was also conducted and indicated that in order to maintain rice self-sufficiency, innovation in the planting and seed systems as well as in farmers’ welfare management, such as incentives and subsidies, local food diversification systems and innovative food technique development to support food diversification, should be considered.

This research study was intended to provide information in order to model an ideal construction of Gillnet fishing practices in PPI Karangsong, in order to support the feasibility of optimum catch. Fish Landing Base (PPI) Karangsong is the most active fishing port in Indramayu. The dominant fishing activity in the Karangsong PPI is gillnet fishing at around 71.4% of the total fishing units. The type of gillnet utilized in Indramayu is commonly called the ‘gillnet millennium’ and it is constructed out of Poly Amide monofilament. The gillnet vessel itself has a hull shaped in the form of a hard chin bottom. Based on this research, it can be concluded that each region has specific fishing unit characteristics that vary in accordance with the conditions of the waters.

Opis:
The study was carried out to evaluate the phytochemical constituents, antioxidant activity and the content of total phenolic and flavonoid in the methanolic extract from stem bark, root, and leaves of Rhizophora mucronata from Karangsong, Indramayu Regency, West Java, Indonesia. The antioxidant activity was evaluated using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrilhydrazyl (DPPH) assay. Total phenolic and flavonoid contents were determined according respectively to Folin-Ciocalteau method, and aluminium trichloride method. The methanol extract from stem bark of R. mucronata contained secondary metabolite such as phenolic, flavonoid, tannin and saponin. The stem bark of R. mucronata showed the highest phenolic and flavonoid content and possessed a higher antioxidant activity (IC50 84.80 µg·m/L) than that of root (IC50 166.95 µg·m/L) and leaves (IC50 90.51 µgmL1). Total phenolic and flavonoid content in the stem bark of R. mucronata were 131.91 ±1.7 mg gallic acid equivalents/g and 902 ±0.7 mg quercetin equivalents/g, respectively.
