Typologies of media innovationThe contemporary processes of media changes are occurring extremely fast. New technologies, business models, cultural patterns, social processes, regulatory changes necessitate modifications in the management of the media. Media innovation management is a key issue emerging particularly in the case of new media. The aim of the article is to present a typology of media innovations and to identify examples of each type. The analysis leads to the conclusion that innovation is now the biggest challenge to media producers and managers of media organizations. The study includes both old and new media, in particular the converging media. The article initiates the application of the innovation theory to media studies.

Opis:
The presence of diamonds in meteorites was confirmed for the first time in the Novo-Ureiureilite in 1888. Ureilites are a rare class of achondrites, often referred to as primitive achondrites. They are composed of olivine and pyroxene (pygeonite), as well as graphite inclusions often coexisting with diamonds. The following three main hypotheses of diamond origin in ureilites have been proposed: the HPHT process, graphite-to-diamond conversion under shock compression due to impact on the parent body (the most popular theory, as of the time of publication), and the CVD process in the solar nebula. The samples of all types of ureilites, from less shocked up to highly shocked, were examined using Raman Spectroscopy and Scanning Electron Microscopy. The results show the presence of diamonds in all of our samples. Of particular significance is the comparison of Raman spectra of diamonds and graphite phases of different ureilites.

Opis:
Piston – ring – cylinder assembly of combustion engine has a lot of friction pairs examples, also one of them which decide about fastness to wear, it means first sealing ring – cylinder, called further very simply ring – cylinder unit. During work of this unit we can observe wear of piston, precisely – of coating which is deposited on ring to prolong service life. Objective of this work was to realize a test of roll-block type on tribotester to set durability of piston sample. Within the framework of this test were investigated a prototyped piston’s rings with diamond embankment. Piston rings are made of diamond coating technology with a porous chromium coating, where in pores is deposited on said diamond powder with a grain size about 1 micron. The work will be carried out of an analysis of collaboration piston – rings – cylinder unit in internal combustion engine and an analysis of the use of hard materials in friction pairs, including powders. The work aims to show the possibilities and benefits of the application of new protective coatings to reduce their wearing, which is consistent with the observed trend of technology development.

Praca przedstawia wstępne wyniki badań kryształów kwarcu, które potocznie nazywane są „diamentami marmaroskimi”. W badaniach wykorzystano okazy pochodzące z południowo - wschodniego obrzeżenia Górnośląskiego Zagłębia Węglowego. Opisywane kryształy kwarcu występują w skałach płonnych, prawdopodobnie w warstwach siodłowych. Wykorzystano metodę spektroskopii ramanowskiej (RS), która pozwoliła na identyfikację minerałów kwarcu oraz poznanie charakteru inkluzji w nim występujących. W pracy po raz pierwszy przedstawiono dowody naukowe na występowanie diamentów marmaroskich w obszarze Górnośląskiego Zagłębia Węglowego.
This paper presents the preliminary research of the quartz crystals commonly known as “marmarosh diamonds”. The area of the research is in the south-east part of the Upper Silesian Coal Basin (USCB). Raman spectroscopy method was used to identification the quartz crystals and recognision of the character of inclusions.

Opis:
This paper discusses the mechanical properties of a material fabricated from commercially available metal powder mixtures designed for use as a metal matrix of diamond impregnated composites. The mixtures with the catalogue numbers CSA and CSA800 provided by a Chinese producer are suitable for experimental laboratory testing. The specimens were fabricated in a graphite mould using hot pressing. The material was tested for density, porosity, hardness, and tensile strength under static loading. A scanning electron microscope (SEM) was used to analyze the microstructure and cleavage fracture of broken specimens. It was essential to determine how the chemical composition and the fabrication process affected the microstructure and properties of the material. The properties of the sinters were compared with those of hot pressed specimens fabricated from sub-micron size cobalt powder (Cobalt SMS). Although the as-consolidated material is inferior to cobalt, it displays a favourable combination of hardness, yield strength and ductility, and seems to have a great potential for moderate and general purpose applications.
