Opis:
Borna disease (the name stem from a small village in Saxony, Germany where the disease became epidemic in 1895) is caused by atypical virus (Borna disease virus, BDV). BDV is prototypic virus of the family Bornaviridae, within the order Mononegavirales within which viruses of Ebola and Mahrburg, an Rhabdoviridae are also classified. Noteworthy, all attempts to isolate BDV with methods of classical virology failed and the virus was only molecularly cloned in the late eighties of the XX century. BDV occur epidemically in Germany, Switzerland, North America, Japan and Israel. It seems that, analogously to rabies virus, it may infect all the vertebrates including horses, primates, ships, lamas, hippos, cats and cattle but also birds (ostrich). The virus reservoir are probably small rodents. The problem of BDV infection in humans is still open to debate.
Choroba Borna (której nazwa pochodzi od małego miasta Borna w dolnej Saksonii, gdzie wystąpiła epidemia choroby w 1895 roku) wywoływana jest przez nietypowy wirus (Borna disease virus, BDV). BDV jest prototypowym wirusem rodziny Bornaviridae, w obrębie rzędu Mononegavirales, do którego należą także wirusy Ebola i Marburg oraz Rhabdoviridae. Warto podkreślić, że BDV próbowano latami wyizolować klasycznymi metodami wirusologii, bezskutecznie; udało się go sklonować metodami biologii molekularnej dopiero w końcu lat osiemdziesiątych XX wieku. BDV występuje endemicznie w Niemczech, Szwajcarii, Ameryce Północnej oraz części Azji (Japonia) i w Izraelu. Wydaje się, że podobnie jak wirus wścieklizny BDV może zakażać wszystkie ciepłokrwiste zwierzęta (konie, naczelne, owce, hipopotamy, lamy, koty i bydło), a także ptaki (strusie). Rezerwuarem BDV są prawdopodobnie małe gryzonie. Kwestia, czy u człowieka w ogóle występuje manifestujące się klinicznie zakażenie, jest nadal przedmiotem kontrowersji.

Opis:
Borna disease virus (BoDV, Orthobornavirus; Bornaviridae), is the causative agent of Borna disease, mostly lethal polioencephalomyelitis that affects primarily horse and sheep but also and other mammals. It is ssRNA virus, that replicates within the nucleus of target cells, at first at the entry site, than it migrates intraaxonally towards the brain, cerebellum and medulla oblongata. The infection of the central nervous system results in severe neurological disorder that is caused primarily by the hosts cell-mediated immunopathological reactions. The clinical manifestations of the bornaviral diseases are highly variable. Thus, in addition to acute, lethal encephalitis, they can cause persistent neurologic disease associated with diverse behavioral changes. They also cause a severe retinitis resulting in blindness. The zoonotic potential of the virus has been a matter of an unresolved scientific dispute for decades. The impact of BDV on mental health still remains controversial. BoDV‑1 can induce encephalitis cases, establishing the infection as a potentially lethal zoonosis which can impact both immunocompromised and healthy individuals. Diagnosis can be made serologically (ELISA, IF, Western blot), but detection of antigen markers in peripheral white blood cells (ELISA, FACS) and/or in the brain combined with nucleic acid amplification (nested RT-PCR), is more profitable.

Opis:
The wastes which infiltrate into the environment are created from unexpended materials and products. The environment can manage a great amount of waste, but this process requires time. Nature always attempts to achieve the balance . However, degradation of some materials in nature takes about 1000 years, which is a very long period of time in terms of the length of a human life, also in view of the rising trend of wastes generation. The need for appropriate waste management is steadily rising, as does the production of wastes and our living standards. Incorrect waste management has a negative impact on all components of the environment. Waste management, their processing and recycling additionally contribute to human health protection and preservation of a healthy environment. Another benefit is in the form of raw materials extraction, the global supplies of which are constantly reducing. One of the possible ways of effective waste management is improving environmental awareness but the science brings different ways of solution, for example in connection with waste management and simulation of wastes flow. The paper presents one of this ways by help with the creation of centralized collection point of wastes using a universal model which is usable for different countries with the problem of wastes and waste management.

This paper seeks to highlight the impact of the increasing container throughput in northern Adriatic ports on air quality. A comparative analysis of air quality is given, which consist of certain environmental parameters at selected measuring stations near the container terminals of the northern Adriatic ports Rijeka, Trieste, Koper, and Venice. The parameters were analyzed based on a limited amount of air quality monitoring data for the port areas. As the port transport sector increases pollutant emissions, the results of these analyzes can also be used to take appropriate measures to reduce these particulate matter emissions. The aim of this paper is to determine the impact of increasing the container throughput within the ports of the northern Adriatic Sea on air quality, based on certain environmental parameters related to the shipping or delivery of containers by road. The results of the research, based on available data, have shown that the increase in container throughput of the northern Adriatic ports has not decreased the air quality of urban areas of the respective port cities. The air quality value of the northern Adriatic ports is substantially below the limits set by the EU Air Quality Directive (2008/50), thus it does not affect the health of the inhabitants of the analyzed cities.

Animal motifs were very popular in medieval bestiaries and love poetry, especially in Provençal and Petrarchan poetry. Afterwards they spread throughout European Renaissance love poetry and they are found in love poems by Šiško Menčetić (1457–1527) and Džore Držić (1461–1501), the very first Croatian Renaissance poets. This paper examines some of the animal motifs present in their poems, in order to establish whether they could provide a better understanding of the luralism of Croatian Renaissance love poetry, which cannot be reduced to Petrarchism alone, and of the extraliterary context to which certain animal motifs are related. Our research shows that e.g. motifs of snakes and birds are linked to various types of love discourse; animal motifs related to the topos of love hunt are also analysed. It is shown that animal motifs are potentially polysemous and that their usage follows conventions of the genre and norms of a particular type of love discourse with which they are associated, while their meaning is more precisely definedin the context of the poem.

This paper formulates a specific methodology based on a mathematical model that selects the optimal terminal configuration of individual transport modes within the point of integration of passenger transport. The methodology is applicable for the purpose of analyzing the current situation and proposing improvements to the point of integation of passenger transport. The application of the methodology is presented at the point of integration of different transport modes in the city of Šibenik. As the main parameter in the mathematical model, the time distance required for a certain type of passenger to walk between each individual terminal within the integration point was chosen. Technical and technological criteria that influence the choice of the optimal configuration were evaluated and included in mathematical calculations. By selecting the optimal terminal configuration within the integration point, the preconditions for better integration of transport modes as well as for greater passenger satisfaction will be achieved.

Presupposition for realizing the demand for bus transport is the existence of its potential, which represents the population of that city, region, or state. Public passenger transport is considered to be an instrument of state social policy. The legislation defines it as transport performed to satisfaction the transport needs of persons, especially vulnerable groups, pupils, students, and pensioners. A significant problem in Slovakia and also in abroad is an aging population. The retired population has different transport habits like other groups of passengers (children, pupils and students, economically active persons), which is related to the change of transport requirements, as well as an adaptation the public transport offer. In recent years, the number of license holders of individual disabled persons has been increasing in Slovakia, or possibly individual person with severe disability with a guide. In this article, we focus on examining the issue of the rising trend of issued valid licenses of disabled persons and persons with reduced mobility, and related new measures, to which transport undertakings are confronted and transport service subscribers. The aim is also to identify the motivation to own a disability person license or persons with reduced mobility with the ability to use it for the demand for public passenger transport.
