Opis:
The methods using femtosecond lasers are very popular in the world recently. They are used for different research methods. We begin to use a multi-photon autofluorescence method for cancer tissue detection. We plan to use this method with special photonic crystal fiber optic sensors. We would like to use to this detection femtosecond oscillator for 800 nm region. However, according to our information there is no fiber which can provide these femtosecond signals at 800 nm region without dispersion and nonlinear effect. Applying typical fiber causes dispersion of guided signals. Therefore we are preparing suitably designed fibers. Double-clad photonic fibers can play a dual role of ultrashort pulse delivery and efficient collection of nonlinear optical signals. In the paper a new design of double cladding small dispersion photonic crystal fiber is proposed. Simulations of both structure and dispersion in proposed fibers are presented.

Opis:
We performed extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) measurements of Zn$\text{}_{1-x}$Mn$\text{}_{x}$S solid solution for various concentrations x in the range of 0 ≤ x ≤ 0.4. Data were collected on Zn and Mn K-edges with the use of synchrotron radiation from the ADONE storage ring in Frascati utilizing the Si(111) channel-cut monochromator. Applying the usual procedure of data reduction described elsewhere, we found well-defined different nearest-neighbor Zn-S and Mn-S distances, according to the previous results, almost independent on x. For Mn-S distances in the range of 0.1 ≤ x ≤ 1.0 we found, within the limit of experimental error, a constant value equal to 2.430±0.008 Å. For Zn-S distances for concentration changing from x = 0.0 to x = 0.4 we observed a weak, linear increase from 2.343±0.008 Å to 2.354 ± 0.008 Å, respectively.

Series of Ni_{45.5-x}Co_{4.5}Mn_{36.6}In_{13.4}B_{x} (at.%, x=0, 0.05, 0.1, 0.5, 1.0) polycrystalline magnetic shape memory alloys were examined in terms of the magnetic properties, structure and transition temperatures. Depending on the boron concentration single or two phase alloys microstructures were observed. Additionally, the martensitic transformation temperatures decreases with the boron addition. Magnetic-field induced transformation occurs for the alloys with the boron addition up to 0.1 at.%. For alloys with 0.5 and 1.0 at.% of B transformation is hindered.

Opis:
Results of X-ray absorption fine structure measurements in manganites $(La_{1-x}Ho_{x})_{2//3}Ca_{1//3}MnO_{3}$ with 0.15 < x < 0.50 are presented. When $LaMnO_{3}$ is doped with a divalent element such as $Ca^{2+}$, substituting for $La^{3+}$, holes are induced in the filled Mn d orbitals. This leads to a strong ferromagnetic coupling between Mn sites. Ca ions in $La_{1-x}Ca_{x}MnO_{3}$ introduce a distortion of the crystal lattice and mixed valence Mn ions ($Mn^{3+}$ and $Mn^{4+}$). On the other hand, in manganites $(La_{1-x}Ho_{x})_{2//3}Ca_{1//3}MnO_{3}$ the substitution of La for Ho causes a lattice distortion and induces a disorder, which reduces a magnetic interaction. The ferromagnetic transition temperature and conductivity decrease very quickly with increasing x. The magnetic and transport properties of compounds depend on the local atomic structure around Mn ions. The information on the bond lengths and Debye-Waller factor are obtained from the extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) data analysis. The charge state of Mn is determined from the position of the absorption edge in X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) data. XAFS results are in good agreement with magnetic characteristics of the studied materials.
