    The message of God’s mercy has become the subject of a great extent of studies taken mostly up from the perspective of Dogmatic Theology or Spiritual Theology. It seems the matter of social interpretation of this message still remains wide open. Meanwhile, The Diary and John Paul II’s Encyclical Letter Dives in misericordia as well, which the writings of St. Faustina constitute an unquestionable inspiration, are far from interpreting mercy merely in an ascetic and individual dimension. Both of the texts distinctly encourage broadening the social aspect of the interpretation of mercy as the element of the renovation of the social life, which is the subject of this study.

    Charakterystyczną cechą katolickiej myśli teologicznej ostatnich lat, jest zainteresowanie tematem miłosierdzia. Miłosierdzie Boże oprócz biblijno-dogmatycznego posiada również wymiar liturgiczny. Liturgia bowiem stanowi uprzywilejowane miejsce doświadczenia i głoszenia miłosierdzia Bożego. Dokonuje się to w ciągu całego roku liturgicznego. W rytmie i wydarzeniach czasu bowiem Kościół wspomina i przeżywa tajemnice zbawienia, doświadczając miłosierdzia Bożego, które najpełniej objawia nam Jezus Chrystus. Kościół wyraża i przeżywa swoją wiarę we wszystkich modlitwach, ale czyni to w sposób szczególny w modlitwach towarzyszących sprawowaniu Eucharystii w ciągu całego roku liturgicznego. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest ukazanie, w jaki sposób misterium Bożego miłosierdzia celebrowane i odsłaniane jest podczas sprawowania Mszy Świętej w Kościele Polskokatolickim w trakcie całego roku liturgicznego. Nie ma dnia, aby Kościół sprawując Eucharystię, nie odwoływał się do Boga miłosiernego. Mówią o tym modlitwy zawarte w Obrzędach Mszy Świętej Kościoła Polskokatolickiego. Kościół przy każdej okazji wkłada w usta szafarzy świętych misteriów głębokie wołanie ku miłosiernemu Bogu. Nie zależnie od wszelkich wezwań do miłosierdzia Bożego wprost zamieszczonych w Obrzędach Mszy Świętej, Najświętsza Ofiara jest w swej istocie najpotężniejszym błaganiem Boga o litość i miłosierdzie.
    A characteristic feature of Catholic theological thought in recent years is the interest in the subject of God`s mercy. The mercy of God apart from its biblical and dogmatic aspect also has a liturgical dimension. Indeed, the liturgy is the privileged place of the experience and proclamation of mercy. This is done throughout the liturgical year. In the rhythm of events and the time we remember and live the mysteries of salvation, experiencing God`s mercy which is most fully revealed by Christ. The Church expresses and experiences her faith in all prayers but does so in a special way in the prayers accompanying the celebration of the Eucharist throughout the liturgical year. The purpose of this article is to show how the mystery of God`s mercy is revealed and celebrated during the celebration of Mass throughout the liturgical year in the Polish Catholic Church. Not a day goes by as the Church celebrates the Eucharist where she does not refer to a merciful God. Prayers contained in the Rite of Mass of the Polish Catholic Church speak of this. At every opportunity the Church cries out to the God of mercy. Of all the calls to the mercy of God which are part of the Holy Mass, the Holy Sacrifice is in its essence the most powerful plea before God for pity and mercy.

W piśmiennictwie mistyków tytuł Boga w Trójcy Jedynego pojawia się po raz pierwszy w Dzienniczku św. Faustyny Kowalskiej, w wielu nowatorskich sformułowaniach. Sformułowania opisywanej mistyczki obejmują opisy wizji Trójcy Przenajświętszej, jak i jej osobiste przemyślenia, najczęściej występujące nierozdzielnie, jako jeden splot mistycznej rzeczywistości.
    The article discusses the most important feature of the mysticism of St. Faustyna Kowalska in the context of the Trinitarian mysticism. The author’s intention is to propose to the reader an active participation in experiencing the mystery of the Holy Trinity in a life united with the person of the Son of God who has revealed the first and the most important attribute of God – His Mercy in the dimension of the Merciful Trinity. In mystical literature, the title of God as One in Trinity, appears for the first time in the Diary of St. Faustyna Kowalska, in many innovative wordings. The formulations of the mystic described, include descriptions of the vision of the Holy Trinity, as well as her personal thoughts, most often appearing inseparably, as a single conjunction of mystical reality.

    Artykuł podnosi kwestię nadziei powszechnego zbawienia. Zagadnienie to podejmował szwajcarski teolog katolicki Hars Uns von Balthasar (1905-1988). Lubelski ekumenista Wacław Hryniewicz (urodzony w 1936) zajmował się tym tematem przez wiele lat w Polsce. Artykuł syntetycznie omawia spojrzenia obu teologów, ujmując je we wzajemnej zależności. Obaj odnoszą się do Biblii ujmującej Boga jako miłość. Taki obraz Boga nie jest zbieżny z wizją kary wiecznego piekła. Argumentacja odnosi się do filozoficznej i teologicznej natury człowieka jako bytu wolności, jak też do świadectwa mistyków chrześcijańskich i świętych. Idea jest umiejscowiona w koncepcji i rzeczywistości Bożego Miłosierdzia i zbiega się z nią.
    The article raises the issue of hope of universal salvation, which is not knowledge, certainty about the ultimate faith of man after death, but only hope based on God’s revelation contained in the Holy Bible. A Swiss Catholic theologian, Hans Urs von Balthasar (1905-1988), undertook in the twentieth century the matter of hope for salvation. A Lublin ecumenist Wacław Hryniewicz (born in 1936) has been dealing with this issue in Poland for many years. This article discusses synthetically the views of both theologians in a mutual relationship. Both of them refer to the Bible talking about God as love. Such an image of God is incompatible with the vision of eternal hell as a punishment without prospects for improvement and conversion of man. The argumentations concern the philosophical and theological nature of man as a being of freedom. It also refers to the testimonies of Christian mystics and saints in favour of hope of universal salvation. This idea is located in the concept and reality of God’s mercy and converges with it.

    Manuscripts of the Servant of God sister Benigna Konsolata Ferrero, carefully studied by her confessor, Father Luigi Boccardo, were printed shortly after her death. Even though she already bore the title of “Apostle of Mercy,” no one at that time could have guessed that she would become one of the earliest precursors of the Divine Mercy. One of the first to discover the character of Sr. Benigna Konsolata was Father Michal (Michael) Sopoćko, the confessor of Saint Sister Faustina Kowalska. Already knowing the message of his penitent, he revealed the similarities between the two messages. The purpose of the message dictated to the Servant of God is devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and reveals His greatest attribute, which is the Mercy of God.

    Artykuł podejmuje zagadnienie Kościoła jako sakramentu miłosierdzia. Według Soboru Watykańskiego II Kościół jest sakramentem zbawienia, jednak jest nim wyłącznie w Chrystusie i w związku z Nim. Misja Kościoła w świecie polega na przekazywaniu Chrystusa obecnego w nim przez łaskę i słowo, a tym samym na jednoczeniu całej ludzkości z Chrystusem. Kościół nie tylko przekazuje Chrystusowe objawienie o miłosiernej miłości Boga do człowieka, ale sam o tyle jest Kościołem Chrystusowym, o ile jest skutecznym znakiem tej miłości. Świadectwo miłości miłosiernej jest obowiązkiem zarówno Kościoła jako całości, jak i każdego poszczególnego wiernego.
    The article deals with an issue of the Church being a sacrament of mercy. According to the Second Vatican Council, the Church, being a sacrament of salvation, is one only in Christ and in connection with Him. The Church's mission to the world is to communicate Christ already present in it through His grace and words; that is to unite the whole humanity with Christ. Not only does the Church show Christ's revelation of God’s charity, but also it is the Church of Christ himself as long as it remains the sign of that charity. Giving the testimony of the charity is the obligation of both the whole Church and its each and every member.

    The author aims at presenting mercy in the letters of St. Paul in the aspect of the enriching relation of God towards man. He analyses the most representative texts, containing the semantic base: ἔλεος–ἐλεέω and οἰκτιρμός–οἰκτίρω. He takes the personal experience of God’s mercy in the apostle’s life as the starting point. Then, he attempts to deduce how it has influenced the development of the doctrine of mercy and how it has reflected in the practice of the Christian life. Finally, he enquires about the maturity of the Pauline doctrine of God’s mercy.
    Autor stawia sobie za cel prezentację miłosierdzia w listach św. Pawła w aspekcie ubogacającej relacji Boga do człowieka. Poddaje analizie najbardziej reprezentatywne teksty, które zawierają bazę semantyczną: ἔλεος–ἐλεέω i οἰκτιρμός–οἰκτίρω. Punktem wyjścia czyni osobiste doświadczenie miłosierdzia Bożego w życiu apostoła. Następnie podejmuje próbę wnioskowania jak ono wpłynęło na rozwój nauki o miłosierdziu i jakie znalazło przełożenie na praktykę życia chrześcijańskiego. W końcu zadaje pytanie o dojrzałość Pawłowej nauki o Bożym miłosierdziu.

    The teachings of Pope Francis described demonstrate how important it is to him to accustom Christians to a merciful lifestyle and to revive the mercy culture. If the way of the Church – as St. John Paul II taught in accordance with the Second Vatican Council – is man, then for Pope Francis, the way of the Church is a man who needs God's mercy in the form of being preached the word of God, repentance, and absolution of sins to, in other words – a sinful and repentant man; and then a man who is poor – who needs material support, restoration of justice and dignity of God's image, spiritual consolation, acceptance, affection and compassion. Christians are obliged to share the mercy granted by God and people with others. They are to imitate merciful Jesus, see Him in the poor and suffering, be the outstretched hands of Christ and of His merciful Mother. The Pope wishes mercy not to be merely talked about, but also to be lived by.

    La Sacra Scrittura parla della grazia di Dio che presiede il suo agire salvifico nei confronti degli uomini. La grazia ha avuto il suo annunzio nell’Antico Testamento, con l’esperienza dell’amore di benevolenza da parte di Dio nei confronti d’Israele che non viene mai meno alla parola data. Essa ha raggiunto la sua pienezza in Cristo, il quale con il suo mistero pasquale ha donato la salvezza all’uomo peccatore. Avviene così una vera rigenerazione, che trasforma il credente in figlio di Dio e in tempio dello Spirito Santo. Lo inserisce intimamente nella vita stessa di Cristo e lo rende partecipe della natura e della vita divina. La multiforme grazia della salvezza ha la forma del dono che presuppone una capacità di libera accoglienza da parte dell’uomo. Dio dona la grazia, ma essa diventa efficace solo? nel momento in cui l’uomo l’accoglie. L’accoglienza della grazia rende a sua volta l’uomo più libero e più capace di accogliere in modo sempre più pieno e profondo il progetto di Dio su di lui. Lasciar fare a Dio non significa infatti sottomettersi supinamente al fato, ma significa invece consentire a Dio di portare a compimento l’opera da lui iniziata col chiamarci all’esistenza e col renderci partecipi della sua vita trinitaria.
    The Holy Scriptures speak of God’s grace, which directs the saving work of the Creator for man. The Old Testament shows God’s grace combined with the experience of God’s benevolence for Israel, who never ceases to keep his word. God’s grace is made complete in Christ, who, through the paschal mystery, brought salvation to sinful man. In this way, there is a true rebirth that transforms the believer into a child of God and a temple of the Holy Spirit. It introduces him deeply into the life of Christ and makes him a sharer in the nature and life of God. The multiform grace of salvation takes the form of a gift that implies the ability of man to freely accept it. God gives grace, but it is effective when a person accepts it. In turn, accepting grace makes man more free and able to accept God’s plan for him in a more complete and deeper way. Leaving God’s grace to God does not mean politely surrendering to fate but allowing God to complete the work he has begun by calling us into existence and making us sharers in his Trinitarian life.

Artykuł poświęcony jest poszukiwaniu odpowiedzi na pytanie o stosunek kultu miłosierdzia Bożego do kultu Króla Miłosierdzia. Odpowiedź streszcza się w zdaniu: kult miłosierdzia Bożego jest trynitarny, kult Króla Miłosierdzia jest chrystologiczny i podkreśla godność królewską Chrystusa, a tym samym także Jego człowieczeństwo.
    The Apostolic Group of Divine Mercy promotes the worship of Christ the King of Mercy. The Christological title “King of Mercy” occurs in the Diary of St. sister Faustina Kowalska (no. 83; 1146; cf. 378). The article is devoted to answering the question regarding relationship between the Divine Mercy devotion and the worship of the King of Mercy. The answer is summed up in this sentence: the devotion to the Divine Mercy is a Trinitarian one and that to King of Mercy is a Christological one and emphasizes the kingship of Christ, and thus also His humanity.

    Divine Mercy is for man the reality which is both mysterious and hopeful. Out of the richness of the Bible the author points out only selected data: he analyzes biblical vocabulary, which turns out to be the invitation to the participation in the mystery of the Divine Mercy, he focuses on the sense of the mercy as meeting spiritual and temporal needs. He points out to God who makes man an active protagonist of the Divine Mercy mystery.     Opis:
    Boga jako miłosiernego Ojca objawia już Stary Testament. Na podstawie tej tradycji objawienie to można uznać również za przygotowujące do wcielenia Bożego Słowa, wypełniającego Boże obietnice i realizującego w pełni miłosierdzie Ojca. Zjednoczony z ludzką naturą Boży Syn najpełniej także ukazuje, kim jest Bóg i kim dla Boga jest człowiek. Objawia również, czym jest miłość Boga do człowieka, nie tylko niecofająca się przed grzechem, ale na podstawie tego zjednoczenia – w ten sam sposób jak Syna – obejmująca każdego człowieka. Tak rozumiane miłosierdzie Boże nie ogranicza się tylko do przebaczenia grzechów,ale jest zaproszeniem człowieka przez Boga do możliwej dopiero w Jezusie Chrystusie cudownej wymiany miłości, w której uczestniczy obdarowujący miłosierdziem i nim obdarowany.
    God is shown as merciful already in the Old Testament. However, it is in the fulfillment of God’s promises in the incarnation of the Word that the realization of Divine mercy achieves its fullness. That is why the Word incarnate is also a revelation of the nature of Divine mercy. Its quintessence is made visible in Jesus Christ, who brings God closer to man and makes man capable of self understanding. In the Son the Father reveals Himself as inconceivable Love, whose consequence is creation and redemption. The Father not only does not withdraw His love in response to human sin, but in the Son becomes united with each man, thus showing the fundamental nature of His mercy. It is realized most fully in the work of Jesus Christ, in whom God loves every man with the same love as His own Son. In the Son, who united himself with the human nature, the Father also enables man to respond to Divine love. This means inviting and introducing man to the relation of mercy. Thus, mercy ceases to be a unilateral process and becomes the best way for man to unite with God through the imitation of Jesus.

    The presence of Virgin Mary was crucial in the life and monastic vocation of St. Sister Faustina Kowalska. The Marian thread has a special place in her Diary. Since her early childhood the confidante of Mary fulfilling her vocation chose Mother of God to be her Teacher and the Mistress of her spiritual life. She was in the convent the patroness of which was Our Lady of Mercy. Sister Faustina lived the charism of this congregation. She had visions during which she saw Mary, talked to Her and heard Her words. She communed with her beloved Mother in a special way. The apostle of Divine Mercy visited the shrines of Częstochowa and Ostra Brama for few times. She also entrusted Poland – her beloved Motherland - to Mary.

    Chrześcijaństwo i islam to dwie wielkie religie monoteistyczne, które poza wieloma różnicami mają też sporo podobieństw. Stara się wykazać Zofia Kossak, wybitna pisarka historyczna, katoliczka. W swoich powieściach „Król trędowaty” i „Bez oręża” udowadnia, że dzieci tego samego Boga mogą nie tylko zgodnie żyć obok siebie, ale przyjaźnić się, a nawet kochać. Nietrudno jednak stwierdzić, po lekturze tych utworów, że narrator przekonany jest o wyższości chrześcijaństwa nad wszelkimi innymi religiami. Obie powieści obfitują w rozważania o przymiotach Boga, akcentując jeden z nich, miłosierdzie. Okazuje się, że ludzie są zbyt słabi i grzeszni, by pielęgnować tę cnotę. W imię religii częściej wzajemnie się nienawidzą i zabijają, niż żyją w pokoju. Obie religie są oparte na podobnych wartościach, które powinno się poznać, by zrozumieć zachowania ich wyznawców.
    Christianity and Islam are two great monotheistic religions, which in addition to a number of differences have also many similarities. Zofia Kossak, a prominent historical writer, a catholic, tries to demonstrate it. In her novels “The leper king” and “Blessed are the meek: a novel about St. Francis of Assisi” proves that children of the same God can live together, be friends, and even love each other. It is easy to said after reading these books that the narrator is convinced of the superiority of Christianity over all other religions. Both novels are full of discussions about the attributes of God, emphasizing one of them, mercy. It turns out that people are too weak and sinful to cultivate this virtue. In the name of religion people often hate each other and kill than live in peace. Both religions are based on similar values, which should be known in order to understand the behavior of their followers.
