    The considerations concern questions pertaining to the functioning of court probation system as an auxiliary organ to the court. Apart from professional probation officers there are also public ones. The range of their tasks and rights is determined by legal acts as they run rehabilitation-oriented activity in the conditions of their wardens' personal freedom of living in society. Therefore it is important to realize the factors that condition the effectiveness of work of public probation officers. The method of diagnostic survey and the technique of questionnaire were used to collect the empirical material. The research comprised 82 public family probation officers responsible for supervising minors. It follows from the analysis of the empirical research findings that most of the examined public probation officers possess relevant pedagogical education and substantial practice in the field. The basic source of their pedagogical experience is their former activity as teachers and educators at outside-school institutions. While carrying out the supervision, they experience difficulty cooperating with those put in their charge. They consider cooperation with institutions which provide aid to the child and the family to be particularly useful in their carrying out the duties. In order to raise their skills in the scope of organization of the rehabilitation process they make use of trainings organized by professional court-based probation officers, as well as of other educational offers; they also read pedagogical literature.

    The article presents the results of studies on the level of aggression in areas such as emotional and physical self-aggression, displaced, verbal, indirect and physical aggression, hostility towards the environment, unconscious aggressive tendencies, control of aggressive behaviour, and retaliation tendencies in a group of underage girls and boys, compared with a control sample of socially adapted young people. The study established statistically significant differences and trends in the scope of differentiation in aggressive tendencies in the studied groups. Based on the research the author presents practical applications in the form of prophylactic recommendations, concerning the use of educational measures by courts with respect to juveniles who commit punishable acts using violence.

    Rola kuratora sądowego w postępowaniu wykonawczym jest kluczowa, ponieważ przepisy prawa wyznaczają mu zadania praktycznie we wszystkich instytucjach wchodzących w zakres wykonywania kar i środków karnych wobec przestępców. Tym samym kurator sądowy ma wpływ w znacznej mierze na efektywność wykonywania kar i środków karnych. Niestety w obowiązującym stanie prawnym kurator w postępowaniu wykonawczym pełni przede wszystkim funkcje kontrolne i informacyjne, a w bardzo ograniczonym zakresie realizuje funkcje opiekuńcze i resocjalizacyjne. Zatem istnieje konieczność stworzenia mechanizmów, dzięki którym kurator w postępowaniu z dorosłymi sprawcami przestępstw będzie w większym stopniu koncentrował się na działaniach opiekuńczo-wychowawczych. Przesunięcie akcentu na wychowawczy charakter pracy kuratora ze skazanym jest o tyle istotne, że ewolucja polityki kryminalnej zmierza w kierunku poszerzania znaczenia roli kuratora w postępowaniu wykonawczym poprzez rozbudowywanie katalogu jego zadań.
    The role of the probation officer in enforcement proceedings is crucial because the law assigns them with tasks in virtually all institutions involved in the enforcement of penalties and punitive measures against criminals. Thus, the probation officer has a significant impact on the effectiveness of the execution of penalties and punitive measures. Unfortunately, in the current legal situation, in enforcement proceedings, the probation officer primarily performs control and information functions, and to a very limited extent they perform care and social rehabilitation functions. Therefore, there is a need to create mechanisms thanks to which the probation officer dealing with adult perpetrators of crimes will focus to a greater extent on care and educational activities. Shifting the emphasis to the educational nature of the probation officer's work with the convict is important because the evolution of criminal policy is aimed at expanding the importance of the probation officer's year in enforcement proceedings by expanding the catalogue of his tasks.

    The article presents the dynamics of the number of tasks performed by probation officers in Poland in the last decade. The analysis of the number of tasks undertaken by court superintendents, both in cases after the issuance of a judgment and in duties performed before the issuance of a judgment, was made. On the basis of the analyses, conclusions concerning the number of tasks of court guardians in the period from 2009 to 2018 in Poland were presented. There were also presented postulates for changes, including legal changes, resulting from the practical aspect of the performance of tasks by superintendents in family and juvenile cases and in cases of persons obliged to treat alcohol dependence were also presented.
    W artykule przedstawiono dynamikę liczby zadań wykonywanych przez kuratorów sądowych rodzinnych w Polsce w ostatnim dziesięcioleciu. Dokonano analizy liczby podejmowanych na zlecenie sądu obszarów zadań zarówno w sprawach przed wydaniem prawomocnych orzeczeń jak i obowiązków realizowanych w trakcie postępowania po ich wydaniu. Na kanwie tych analiz wyprowadzono wnioski dotyczące natężenia zadań kuratorów rodzinnych na przestrzeni ostatnich dziesięciu lat w Polsce oraz przedstawiono postulaty zmian, w tym także legislacyjnych, wynikających z praktycznego aspektu wykonywania zadań przez kuratoróww spawach rodzinnych i nieletnich.

    Each person working as a probation officer should have specific personal features and professional competence. Very often, productivity of probation officers is determined by their personal features. The current research aimed to determine, the level of variables mentioned above. The results show that positive interpersonal relationships have the highest importance for probation officers, whereas positive attitude towards oneself is the least important factor As for professional competencies, the one connected with realization was assessed the highest and postulate competence scored the lowest. The perception of probation officers by the charged is determined by their personality predisposition, a system of values, the attitude towards moral norms, communication skills, and the awareness of the servitude of their profession. The profession of the probation officer should not be associated or identified with the control of the inferiors but with the support they should be granting.

    The work of the probation officer for juveniles is tidied up with appropriate legal documents.     Praca kuratora sądowego dla nieletnich opiera się na formalnych aktach prawnych, które wskazują na prawa i obowiązki w relacji z podopiecznym. Pomimo tego działanie na granicy chaosu jest zapisane jako część aktywności naprawczej wynikającej z dynamiki relacji pomiędzy kuratorem, rodziną i nieletnim. Mamy bowiem do czynienia z nieuporządkowanym, zróżnicowanym światem podopiecznych – osoby nieletniej i jej rodziny. Realizacja obowiązków kuratora sądowego dla nieletnich jest działaniem interdyscyplinarnym i wymaga stworzenia właściwych warunków dla prowadzenia czynności nadzoru.

    Opis:
    The work of a probation officer is classified as a hazardous profession. Probation officers in the course of their duties must have regular contact with supervised persons. These are the persons convicted by a final judgments for punish-ments of a libertarian nature. Most often these persons come from pathological social environments. Contact with them or their surroundings is usually associated with verbal or active aggression towards the probation officer. The aim of this paper is to present the risk areas in social work of probation officers in criminal matters based on a review of available literature. The authors focused on the aspects that allow the operational safety of probation officers to be increased or improved. The review of literature made it possible to group and systematize the risks. It amounts to areas such as the risks associated with personality traits of the probation officer, its legal status, the risks associated with the ward's environment as well as with the health status of person on probation.
    Zawód kuratora sądowego zaliczany jest do niebezpiecznych. Kurator sądowy w ramach pełnionych obowiązków musi mieć stały kontakt z osobami dozorowanymi, skazanymi prawomocnymi wyrokami na kary o charakterze wolnościowym, wywodzącymi się najczęściej z patologicznych środowisk społecznych. Kontakt z nimi lub ich otoczeniem często wiąże się z agresją słowną lub czynną wobec kuratora. Celem prezentowanej pracy jest przedstawienie obszarów ryzyka w pracy społecznych kuratorów sądowych ds. karnych na podstawie przeglądu dostępnej literatury przedmiotu. Autorki skoncentrowały się na aspektach pozwalających na zwiększenie lub poprawę bezpieczeństwa pracy kuratorów. Przegląd piśmiennictwa pozwolił na ich pogrupowanie oraz usystematyzowanie. Sprowadza się on do takich obszarów, jak zagrożenia związane z cechami osobowościowymi kuratora, jego statusem prawnym, ze środowiskiem podopiecznego, a także stanem zdrowia osoby dozorowanej.

    Instytucja nadzoru prewencyjnego bazuje na znanych rozwiązaniach obecnych w obowiązującym prawie. W zamyśle jest to środek oddziaływania pozakarnego, który mógłby być stosowany przez sądy rodzinne w  sytuacji wystąpienia przemocy w  rodzinie. Nadzór ten nakładany byłby na osoby stosujące przemoc, wobec których działania podjęte przez grupy robocze Lokalnych Zespołów Interdyscyplinarnych byłyby nieskuteczne, a jej zachowania nie wypełniałyby znamion przestępstwa z użyciem przemocy popełnionego na szkodę najbliższych osób. Środek ten miałby na celu dodatkowo wzmocnienie oddziaływań podejmowanych przez członków wspomnianych grup roboczych. Wykonywany byłby przez kuratorów dla dorosłych, którzy są podmiotem wyspecjalizowanym w  pracy z  osobami dorosłymi występującymi przeciwko obowiązującemu porządkowi prawnemu. Instytucja ta poszerza katalog uprawnień kuratora sądowego dla dorosłych. Jednocześnie jest nowym rozwiązaniem, które daje nowe możliwości walki z przemocą w rodzinie.
    The institution of preventive supervision is based on familiar solutions, existing in the applicable law. It is intended as a non-legal measure that could be used by family courts in situations of domestic violence. This supervision would be imposed on individuals using violence, against whom actions taken by the working groups of Local Interdisciplinary Teams would be ineffective, and whose behavior would not meet the criteria for a  violent crime to the detriment of the relatives. This measure would additionally aim at strengthening the measures undertaken by the members of the said working groups. It would be executed by probation officers for adults, who are specialized in working with adults acting against the legal order in force.This institution broadens the catalog of powers of a probation officer for adults. At the same time, it is a new solution that offers new opportunities to confront domestic violence.
