    In this text the stylistic features of Polish letters of Archbishop Adam Sapieha addressed to the Primate August Hlond. To these letters, the author arrived, by inquiring in Archdiocesan Archives in Gniezno. The relevant subject of the article is five puzzling expressions in terms of usage, meaning and construction. The first example: a coterie is a single lex, the other four: real rape, journalistic nerve, thick gloves and operettas performances are constant expressions. As demonstrated by the analysis of the occurence of words and the analysis of expressions, the word coterie reveals the pejorative relation of the speaker to the circumstances described. The expression of real rape is an idiolectic metaphor and the expression of journalistic nerve is a phraseological modification. The phrase to put thick gloves as well as the expression of operetta performances are contaminations. They prove the existence of Sapieha’s individual language and the efforts of the sender of the letters to make the word and its meaning as complete as possible.

    Opis:
    Der Beitrag setzt sich zum Ziel, eine Neuerscheinung aus dem Bereich der kontrastiven deutsch-polnischen Phraseologieforschung vorzustellen und zu besprechen. Es handelt sich um die Monographie „Phraseologismen und ihre Modifikationen in den Überschriften deutscher und polnischer Pressekommentare“ von Mariusz Frąckowiak, die im Jahre 2021 veröffentlicht wurde. Das Ziel der Studie von Frąckowiak ist es, anhand eines Korpus von Presseüberschriften zu Kommentaren aus ausgewählten deutschen und polnischen Tageszeitungen eine Klassifikation von Phraseologismen und modifizierten Phraseologismen zu erarbeiten, ihre Gebrauchsfrequenz zu bestimmen sowie die Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede in deren Verwendung in deutschen und polnischen Presseüberschriften zu beleuchten. Im Beitrag wird beabsichtigt zu zeigen, auf welche Art und Weise der Autor seine Forschungsziele realisiert und zu welchen Ergebnissen er in seiner Analyse gelangt.
    Celem artykułu jest prezentacja nowej publikacji z zakresu badań niemiecko-polskiej frazeologii kontrastywnej. Przedmiotem artykułu jest monografia „Phraseologismen und ihre Modifikationen in den Überschriften deutscher und polnischer Pressekommentare” autorstwa Mariusza Frąckowiaka, która ukazała się w 202 r. Celem pracy Frąckowiaka jest opracowanie klasyfikacji frazeologizmów i modyfikacji frazeologicznych w oparciu o korpus nagłówków komentarzy z wybranych niemieckich i polskich dzienników. Monografia Frąckowiaka stawia sobie także za cel określenie częstotliwości użycia frazeologizmów oraz modyfikacji frazeologicznych w badanych nagłówkach oraz zidentyfikowanie podobieństw i różnic w tym zakresie. Celem artykułu jest ukazanie, w jaki sposób autor realizuje wymienione cele badawcze i do jakich wyników prowadzi przeprowadzona analiza.
    The aim of the article is to present and discuss the new release from the field of contrastive phraseology research. It concerns the monograph „Phraseologismen und ihre Modifikationen in den Überschriften deutscher und polnischer Pressekommentare“ by Mariusz Frąckowiak, which was published in 2021. The aim of Frąckowiak’s study is to use a corpus of German and Polish press comments headlines from selected daily newspapers to work out a classification of phraseologisms and phraseological modifications. In addition, the study aims to determine frequency of use of phraseologisms and phraseological modifications in examined headlines and to identify the similarities and differences in this regard. The aim of the article is to show the way in which the author realizes his research goals and what results he achieves.

    The subject of the article concerns phraseological units with the lexeme bank that can be found in the Polish language. The lexeme bank, which has been present in Polish since the sixteenth century, became the basis for a group of phraseological connections founded on three out of the four meanings of the word registered in dictionaries. More or less typically phraseological expressions were created around the meaning of the word bank as a money trading institution, or as a place where something is kept or stored and finally as a pot or pool in gambling games. The fourth meaning of bank, as an edifice that holds an institution involved in financial turnover, proved to be unattractive phraseologically and did not result in forming any phraseological units. Also it should be emphasized that some of the analyzed phraseological connections undergo semantic modifications in contemporary Polish, which have not yet been recorded in lexicographic collections. It happens so as new shades of meaning of the phrases rozbić bank (hit the jackpot) or trzymać bank (hold the pot) have not yet been fully established in the language and need to be carefully observed.

    The article is devoted to English borrowings as components of idioms in Russian youth slang. English borrowings are treated by young Russian language users as ‘a base’ for various combinations of English and Russian words in creating various creative neologisms and innovative modifications of existing idioms in Russian. The variations are aimed at emotions and humour – the essentials elements of youth slang. The use of English borrowings in Russian idioms also show their complete assimilation in the recipient language.
