Opis:
The purpose of this research was to determine: 1) phosphate bacteria (PB) mechanisms responsible for enhancing the soil’s soluble phosphorus (P), using the processes of inorganic P solubilisation, organic P mineralization, and blocking of soil colloidal adsorption site, and 2) to investigate the factors contributing to this increase. Phosphate bacteria (PB) was inoculated into sterile Andisols in three separate compositions, termed 1 kg P∙kg–1 (2.82 g phosphate rock, 0.5 g Ca3(PO4)2, 0.4 g Al3(PO4)2, or 0.4 g Fe3(PO4)2), organic P (0.5 cm3 para-Nitrophenylphosphate (pNPP) or 0.5 g Na-phytate), and 1 kg P (KH2PO4)∙kg–1, in order to analyse inorganic P solubilisation, organic P mineralization, and evaluate blocking soil colloidal site for adsorption P, respectively. Furthermore, spectrophotometry technique was applied to determine the amount of dissolved P. The PB showed an improvement in inorganic P solubilisation from 147.66 to 194.61 mg P∙kg–1, and also in organic P from 63.6 to 91.7 mg P∙kg–1, compared to control, (31.06 mg P∙kg–1) and (23.7 mg P∙kg–1), respectively. Meanwhile, the micro-organisms were known to decrease P adsorption by 13.43%, beyond the restraint set at 85.34%. Therefore, increased soluble P in Andisols is possibly expressed, using the equation as follows: soluble P (mg P∙kg–1) = 1201.96 + 1.18 inorganic P solubilisation (mg P∙kg–1) + 1.09 organic P mineralization (mg P∙kg–1) – 0.92 adsorption P (mg P∙kg–1) (R2 = 0.99).

Opis:
A considerable number of bacterial species are able to exert a beneficial effect upon plant growth. Mostly they are associated with the plant rhizosphere, so they are called as rhizobacteria. Phosphorus is an essential element for plant development and growth making up about 0.2 % of plant dry weight. Several scientists have reported the ability of different bacterial species to solubilize insoluble inorganic phosphate compounds, such as tricalcium phosphate, dicalcium phosphate, hydroxyapatite, and rock phosphate. Detection and estimation of the phosphate solublization ability of microorganisms have been possible using plate screening methods. Phosphate solubilizers produce clearing zones around the microbial colonies in growth media. In the present investigation a total number of fifteen phosphate solubilizing bacterial colonies isolated from different paddy soils in Cuddalore district of Tamilnadu, India. The isolated PSB were identified and characterized for effective use in the field. All the PSB isolates were identified as Bacillus species and designated as P with serial number from 1 to 15. Among the fifteen isolates, the PSB isolate P6 showed highest amount of phosphate solubilization. The quantity of available phosphorus estimated in the P6 grown Sperber broth culture medium on 7th day was maximum of 321.7 μg/ml which was the highest value compared to other PSB isolates.

Opis:
Improved agricultural practices and rapid industrialization have led to huge waste generation, and the management of this waste is becoming a global concern. The process of vermicomposting has emerged as a method of choice for converting waste into useful manure, with evidence of increase in crop productivity. During vermicomposting, the collective activities of decomposing microorganisms and earthworms lead to the humification of organic/inorganic waste, thereby generating the final product called vermicompost. Different types of industrial wastes such as waste from paper industries, tanneries, sugar mills, and pulp and textile industries have been effectively converted to vermicompost and successfully used to improve plant growth. The vermicompost thus formed was also demonstrated to increase the production of pharmaceutically important plant secondary metabolites such as withanolides and polyunsaturated fatty acids. Microbial amendment with different bacterial and fungal strains during vermicomposting further proves to be beneficial by increasing nitrogen content, decomposing organic waste, providing aeration, and stabilizing the vermicompost. These microorganisms after passing through the earthworm’s intestine increase in numbers in the vermicast, thus becoming enriched in vermicompost, which is particularly important for their use as biofertilizers. The precise role of different microbial pretreatments in improving the quality of vermicompost generated from industrial and agricultural waste is, however, not completely understood. To fill this gap in knowledge, the present article aims to review published literature to highlight the potential of microbial amendment during vermicomposting for bioremediation of industrial and agricultural waste. Microbial pre-composting followed by vermicomposting emerges as an ecofriendly and economical approach for managing agricultural and industrial waste.

Opis:
This study investigated the possibility of using phosphate-solubilizing bacteria (PSB) with plant-growth-promoting (PGP) capabilities to improve the growth properties of rice plants under ferruginous ultisol (FU) conditions through bio-priming. The following PSB with PGP properties were used in this study: Bacillus cereus strain GGBSU 1, Proteus mirabilis strain TL14-1, and Klebsiella variicola strain AUH-KAM-9, which were previously isolated and characterized based on 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Biosafety analysis of the PSB isolates was conducted using blood agar. The rice seeds were then bio primed with the PSB for 3, 12, and 24 h and then sown in a composite FU soil sample. Differences in germinat ion bioassay were investigated 15 weeks after bio-priming using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), morphology, physiology, and biomass parameters. The composite FU soil used in this study had high pH, low bioavailable phosphorus, low water-holding capacity, and high iron levels, which resulted in low growth properties of rice seeds without bio-priming in the FU soil. Germination parameters were improved in seeds bio primed with the PSB, especially after 12 h of priming, compared with seeds without priming. SEM showed higher bacterial colonization in bio primed seeds. Bio-priming of rice seeds with the studied PSB under FU soil conditions significantly improved seed microbiome, rhizocolonization, and soil nutrient properties, thereby enhancing the growth properties of rice. This indicated the ability of PSB to solubilize and mineralize soil phosphate and improve phosphorus availability and soil properties for optimum plant usage in phosphate-stressed and iron toxic soils.

Opis:
Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare Mill.) is a valuable medicinal and aromatic plant. The introduction of such an ecofriendly element as presowing seeds inoculation with phosphate mobilizing microbial biopreparation into the growing technology is especially important in the cultivation of this crop. It is connected with an extensive use of fennel in the production of medicines, including the remedies for children. Under the moisture deficiency conditions of the southern Steppe of Ukraine, the study on the effectiveness of phosphate mobilizing biopreparations depending on the impact of sowing dates is particularly relevant. Our field experiments were carried out in 2017–2019 in the Kherson region on the dark chestnut soils typical for the southern Steppe of Ukraine. Presowing seeds inoculation with biopreparations of phosphate mobilizing bacteria Albobakteryn and Polimiksobakteryn positively affected the indicators of fennel productivity and yield quality. Among the microbial preparations studied, a preference for Polimiksobakteryn was recorded. The research findings indicate a tendency to lower the quantitative and qualitative indicators of fennel seed yield from early to late sowing. The most favourable conditions for the productive processes of fennel plants and accumulation of essential oil were ensured by the interaction of seeds bacterization with the Polimiksobakteryn biopreparation and early spring sowing at the right soil tilth stage in the third ten-day period of March. In this variant, the yielding capacity was 1.41 t/ha, the weight of 1000 seeds reached 5.61 g, the essential oil content in the seeds amounted to 6.13% in dry matter, the relative yield of essential oil being 76.1 kg/ha. The introduction of microbial preparations of phosphate mobilizing bacteria into the technology of fennel cultivation is a promising environmentally friendly approach to improving the crop productivity.

Opis:
Phytate-mineralizing bacteria (PMB) with plant growth-promoting activity can be considered as a potential biofertilizer for plant nutrition. PMB catalyzes the conversion of insoluble sugar phosphates, inositols, nucleic acids, phospholipids, nucleotides, phytate, and phytin into soluble forms that can be assimilated by plants. The present study aimed to isolate potential PMB from rhizospheric soils and to study their plant growth-promoting potential for the possible development of a potential phosphobacterium biofertilizer. For this purpose, 34 PMB isolates were isolated that showed potent phytate-mineralizing potential. These isolates were tested for their potential to solubilize tricalcium phosphate (TCP) and for various other plant growth-promoting activities. Significant differences were found among the isolates with regard to phytate mineralization and other plant growth-promoting characteristics. The bacterial isolates biochemically identified as Bacillus, Paenibacillus, Arthrobacter, and Burkholderia exhibited high/medium P solubilization, medium/high phytohormone production, and medium/low siderophore and ammonia production. Among all these isolates, isolate A14 (Burkholderia cenocepacia strain FDAARGOS_7) was the promising isolate with high TCP solubilization, medium phytate mineralization, high enzyme production, medium/high phytohormone production, and medium ammonia production. This strain also showed nitrogen fixation activity, zinc solubilizing potential, potassium solubilization, ACC deaminase production, and catalase production. Hence, it can be concluded that B. cenocepacia can be the potential candidate for biofertilizer development. Future studies are planned for exploring the role of PMB in biofertilizer formulations.

Opis:
Badano sezonowe zmiany liczebności bakterii mineralizujących lecytynę i rozpuszczających fosforan trójwapniowy w wodzie, glebie ryzosferowej turzycy błotnej (Carex acutiformis Ehrh.), na powierzchni zanurzonych w wodzie i wynurzonych częściach tej rośliny oraz jej korzeniach (obumarłych i żywych). Badania przeprowadzono w dwóch kolejnych cyklach rocznych (w latach 1993 i 1994). Stwierdzono małą liczebność badanych grup drobnoustrojów w wodzie, większą na zanurzonych w niej częściach rośliny, największą w glebie ryzosferowej i poza ryzosferą.
Seasonal changes in the numbers of lecithin-mineralizing and tricalcium phosphate-dissolving bacteria in water, soil, on the sedge (Carex acutiformis Ehrh.) surfaces immersed in water, on its leaves and roots (dead and alive) were studied. The study was carried out in two annual cycles (in 1993 and 1994). Low numbers of studied groups of microorganisms were found in water, higher on the surface of submerged parts of plants and the highest in the soil in and outside the rhizosphere. In the annual cycle, bacteria were most numerous in summer and present only exceptionally in the autumn months. Both studied groups of bacteria constituted negligible part of the total number of heterotrophic bacteria. The ratio of lecithin-mineralizing bacteria in the rhizosphere to those oustside the plant rhizosphere ranged from 0.05 to 4.5. Respective proportion of tribasic calcium phosphatesolubilizing bacteria in both sites ranged from 0.2 to 4.4.
