A questionnaire survey was conducted in the residential quarters of Guangzhou, for which 582 elderly people over 60 years old were randomly recruited. The hearing impairment of the participants was evaluated using the Hearing Handicap Inventory for the Elderly (HHIE). The participants’ subjective responses to the acoustical environment of their living place and the impact of the living acoustical environment (LAE) on the participants were investigated. The results show that the participants with a low HHIE score and no hearing impairment evaluated their LAE more favourably, and they considered that the effect of the LAE on their daily life was weak. However, those with a high HHIE score and severe hearing impairment evaluated their LAE poorly, and considered its effect on their daily lives to be significant. For the elderly, the worse the hearing is, the higher their demand for a better LAE. Traffic noise, construction noise, noise from residential quarters, and noise from next door or upstairs neighbours were the main noise sources in the elderly’s living places, and traffic noise, construction noise, and noise from next door and upstairs were the most influential sources. 28.9% of the respondents had trouble hearing what their family said in their living place. The elderly without hearing impairment considered that continuous noise was the main reason that they could not hear what their family said in their living place, while those with hearing impairment believed that their own hearing problem was a contributing factor.

Mieszkanie w budynku wielorodzinnym to „dom” dla niemal połowy naszego społeczeństwa. Budownictwo wielorodzinne zaspokaja potrzeby mieszkaniowe olbrzymiej części naszej populacji, na które składa się szeroki wachlarz wymagań, począwszy od bezpieczeństwa, poprzez potrzeby fizjologiczne, aż do uznania społecznego. Współczesny mieszkaniec staje przed nowymi wyzwaniami a jego przestrzeń życiowa wygląda i funkcjonuje w sposób zupełnie odmienny, niż kiedykolwiek dotychczas w porównaniu z historią budownictwa wielorodzinnego. Z uwagi na tempo życia oraz fakt, że praca, wypoczynek i prywatna strefa mieszkalna są coraz bardziej ze sobą powiązane, współczesne przestrzenie muszą być projektowane pod kątem wielofunkcyjności w znacznie większym stopniu niż dotychczas. Przestrzeń mieszkalna musi również w perspektywie czasu odpowiedzieć przede wszystkim na zmieniające się warunki rodzinne i zdrowotne. Powierzchnia mieszkalna, która będzie podążała za cyklem życiowym mieszkańców i potrafiła zaadaptować się do zachodzących w rodzinie zmian, będzie miejscem stałym do życia, zapewniającym komfort psychiczny właścicielom. Elastyczna przestrzeń, którą można łatwo dostosować do różnych sytuacji jest obecnie poszukiwana zarówno przez architektów, jak i użytkowników mieszkań w budynkach wielorodzinnych, oraz rozwiązaniem zapewniającym zrównoważony rozwój i ochronę zasobów, co z uwagi na obecny stan środowiska naturalnego wydaje się priorytetem. Zaprezentowany w artykule autorski model lokalu mieszkalnego jest próbą odpowiedzi na problem elastycznego formowania współczesnej przestrzeni mieszkalnej.
A flat in a multi-family building is a 'home' for almost half of our society. Multi-family housing meets the housing needs of a huge part of our population, which consists of a wide range of requirements ranging from safety, through physiological needs, to social recognition. Today's resident faces new challenges and his living space looks and functions in a completely different way than ever before compared to the history of multi-family housing. Due to the pace of life and the fact that work, leisure and private living spaces are increasingly interconnected, contemporary spaces need to be designed to be multifunctional to a much greater extent than before. In the long run, the living space must also respond primarily to the changing family and health conditions. A living space that follows the life cycle of its residents and is able to adapt to the changes taking place in the family, will be a permanent place to live, providing psychological comfort to the owners. Flexible space that can be easily adapted to different situations is currently in demand by both architects and users of apartments in multi-family buildings, and a solution to ensure sustainable development and conservation of resources, which due to the current state of the natural environment, seems to be a priority. The author's model of dwelling presented in this article is an attempt to respond to the problem of flexible formation of contemporary living space.

Poglądy i twórczość Kurta Lewina wywierały i nadal wywierają fascynujący wpływ na wielu autorów, którzy piszą o jego drodze życiowej oraz twórczości, opierając się na własnej wiedzy oraz na stanie badań nad ową twórczością. Kurt Lewin ma trwałe miejsce w historii psychologii, ale pomimo to, w zależności od punktu widzenia autora, obrazy jego dorobku są różne. Idąc śladem Graumanna (1992/2007), w artykule przeanalizowano jego pogląd, że psychologia XX wieku nie była przygotowana na przyjęcie i zrozumienie dzieł Kurta Lewina. Stanowisko Graumanna uzasadnia to, że poszczególni biografowie ograniczali swoje zainteresowania pracami Lewina albo do „okresu berlińskiego”, albo tego w USA. Tym samym zacierali złożoność i wyrazistość obrazu jego przestrzeni życiowej, która rozpoczynała się jednak już w Mogilnie i w Poznaniu.
Kurt Lewin's views and work have had, and continue to have, a fascinating influence on many authors who write about his life's journey and work, based on their own knowledge and the state of research into that work. Kurt Lewin has a permanent place in the history of psychology, but despite this, depending on the author's point of view, images of his work vary. Following in the footsteps of Graumann (1992/2007), this paper examines his view that 20th century psychology was not prepared to receive and understand the works of Kurt Lewin. Graumann's position is justified by the fact that individual biographers limited their focus on Lewin's work to either the „Berlin period” or that in the United States. By doing so, they blurred the complexity and clarity of the picture of his life space, which, however, already began in Mogilno and Poznan.

Virtual reality and the digital architectural representations of buildings that exist in the cyber realm are gathering more and more users as their platforms develop spaces better suited for the virtual human. Design of sites and interiors is being carried out by both experienced creators and those completely lacking skill in spatial creativity. Research was conducted during the course of two record gathering sessions lasting two weeks each, one at the beginning of February in the year 2020, the other at the end of the year in the last two weeks of the month of November 2020. Information was gathered about the population status of the most visited worlds at those times, as well as their specificity in architectural design traits. Comparison of the data showed that humans who attend online social gatherings and interactions in virtual reality worlds shifted their favor from median traits to those representing more high-end quality at the end of the year. Demographics show a rise in the amount of users aged between 6-10, and 21-35, in comparison to that of the beginning of 2020 where the dominant age group was between 16 and 21 years old. The global lockdown due to the pandemic attracted people from the home office generation who preferred architectural spaces of higher quality, larger and more complex floor plans, and spatial representations of high-rise residential, nightlife and fictional spaces for virtual human to human socializing and interaction.

The aim of this article is to compare two diaries that describe everyday life of women on the west front. The analysis of secretary Ilse Schmidt and nurse Erika Summ memories gives a wider perspective look on a role and position of German women during the war with the Soviet Union. The source answer questions connected to migration to West and everyday life’s problems during the war – like relations between fellow workers, reaction to death or pregnancy in the time of conflict.
Celem artykułu jest porównanie dwóch pamiętników opisujących życie codzienne kobiet na froncie wschodnim. Analiza wspomnień spisanych przez pomocnicę sztabową Ilse Schmidt oraz pielęgniarkę Erikę Summ pozwala w szerszym stopniu zapoznać się z rolą i pozycją Niemek w czasie wojny ze Związkiem Radzieckim. W tekście omówione zostały kwestie związane z wyjazdem na wschód, a także problemy życia codziennego na froncie, takie jak relacje ze współpracownikami, reakcja na śmierć czy też ciąża pracownic sztabowych i wynikające z tego konsekwencje.

The sociology of housing is understood by the author of the paper as a science concerning the social dynamics relevant in housing, living and inhabited space context. The goal of the paper is to remind the role of Polish sociology of housing in process of showing the importance of the land use planning and combining the qualities of social and physical space in development of the inhabited space. The article also concerns the genesis and the achievements of sociology of housing in Poland as well as the history and the conditions of housing policy in Poland and in Western Europe. The article also contains proposals of future reorientation of the sociology of housing in the global dimension. The future development of settlement infrastructure, which forms the fundaments of settlement policy, may become a substantial platform for authentic and genuine sustainable development. The settlement infrastructure concept has a potential for balancing the development of the living space, which is determined by the inhabited space, and thus for genuine sustainable development. The aim is to notice the crucial role of the housing policy in modeling the development of the inhabited space. To achieve this the future objectives of sociology of housing in terms of monitoring and diagnosing the social space and physical relations are highlighted. The future sociology of housing should encompass the sociology of settlement - town's and village's sociology as well as rural areas sociology, thus transgressing the boundaries of inhabited space in general and urbanization space in particular. It should evolve into sociology of entire living space.

The perspective of urban fabric transformation is formulated in connection with the reduction of the influence of industrial factors and the development of information-rich society. This tendency transforms large functional areas of the industrial city into local residential clusters with a pedestrian accessibility of up to 2 km. The aggregate of such clusters of universal pedestrian accessibility (“urban villages”), which is superimposed by the growth of local self-organization and vertical initiatives, may cause partial revision of the functions of city-wide management. A key element for the practical implementation of the impulse development strategy of the city in the 21st century is the prediction of the development of a basic urban unit in a post-industrial city, which in this work is called the local cluster. The phenomenon of impulse development of urban fabric is analysed, and the system of laws and principles that transform urban complexes into post-industrial ones is outlined. It has been found that the impulse strategy, in contemporary conditions, should be made of two components and contain both city-wide and local levels of management and modeling. The level of local clusters, which is being discussed herein, involves the presence of a combination of impulse factors, the content and names of which are presented in this work.

Cel pracy skoncentrowany jest na znaczeniu i roli infrastruktury osadniczej w realizacji trwałego rozwoju jako szansy zasadniczej zmiany urządzania świata. Podstawowym wnioskiem jest stwierdzenie, że rozwój infrastruktury osadniczej może być istotną – mało docenianą dotąd – platformą w przechodzeniu do autentycznego rozwoju trwałego. Przechodzenie to nie będzie jednak łatwe, gdyż wymaga zasadniczych zmian w światowych kręgach politycznych oraz zakwestionowania podstaw i istoty kapitalizmu.
Aim of the study is focused on the importance and role of the settlement infrastructure in the implementation of sustainable development as an opportunity for a fundamental change in furnishing the world. The basic conclusion is that the settlement infrastructure can be an important – yet little appreciated – platform in the transition to authentic sustainable development. Moving it will not be easy, as it requires fundamental changes in global political circles and challenge the basis and essence of capitalism.

Der vorliegende Beitrag soll ein Versuch sein, den dokumentarisch-literarischen Text aus der Sicht des Literaturdiskurses zu erhellen, indem asthetisches Subjekt im Fokus der Diskurspraktiken dargestellt wird. Die Diskursanalyse der Elias Canettis Memoiren soll kommunikative Strategien der Autorinstanz aufdecken, die den Aufschluss daruber geben, dass die Originalitat der Autorenversion des Weltbildes auf der Idee des immer offenen Lebensraums und der fruchtbaren Wechselbeziehungen vielfaltiger kultureller Erscheinungen beruht, was die Logik der Entstehung des Ich-Erzahlers bestimmt.
The present article is intended to be an attempt to illuminate the documentary- literary text from the perspective of literary discourse by presenting an aesthetic subject in the focus of discourse practices. The discourse analysis of Elias Canetti’s memoirs would have to uncover communicative strategies of the author’s instance. They provide information that the originality of the author’s version of the worldview is based on the idea of the always-open living space and the fruitful interrelationships of diverse cultural phenomena, which is the logic of the genesis of the alter ego and determined by the narrator.

Wymaga to zastanowienia się nad relacjami polityki społecznej, mieszkaniowej i osadniczej oraz nad ich usytuowaniem na tle innych elementów i dziedzin nauk społecznych w kontekście zamieszkiwania. Rozpatrywane są również relacje problematyki publicznej o charakterze ustrojowym, politycznym, ekonomicznym, społecznym, a także przyrodniczo-ekologicznym, które dopełniają koncepcję trwałego rozwoju. Koncepcja ta ukierunkowana bardziej niż dotąd na godziwe i godne zamieszkiwanie kolejnych pokoleń, poprzez zasadnicze zwiększenie roli polityki mieszkaniowej i osadniczej, unaocznia, że celem i przedmiotem dyscypliny „nauki o polityce publicznej” jest m.in. przestrzeń zamieszkiwania.
The article aims to observe the purpose and subject of “public policy sciences” from the perspective of living space. The role of housing policy and settlement in this respect is at the core of the paper reasoning. It requires reflection on the relationships of social, housing and settlement policies, and their location on the background of other elements and disciplines of social sciences in the context of living. Public policy relations of a systemic, political, economic and social character, as well as of natural and ecological one, which complement the concept of sustainable development, are also discussed. This concept focused more than ever on a fair and decent habitation of successive generations, by substantially increasing the role of housing and settlement policy, highlights that the aim and subject of “the public policy sciences’ is the living space.

Opis:
Celem opracowania jest wartościowanie kierunków podążania przez Unię Europejską do regionalnej spójności społecznej złączonej ze spójnością gospodarczą i terytorialną. Przeprowadzona analiza potwierdza tezę, że paradygmat wzrostu ekonomicznego nie sprzyja regionalnej spójności społecznej. Szanse poprawy tej spójności leżą w równoważeniu przestrzeni zamieszkiwania w myśl koncepcji rozwoju trwałego, które akcentuje rolę infrastruktury osadniczej w tym zakresie. Rynkowy mechanizm wzrostu w wersji liberalnej nadal kładzie się cieniem na rozumowaniu gremiów UE w zakresie analizowanym w tym opracowaniu. Przemawia to za zasadnością podejścia badawczego konfrontującego przeszłość z naukowymi wyobrażeniami dotyczącymi odleglejszej przyszłości w celu unaoczniania przesłanek zmiany paradygmatu dalszego rozwoju.
The aim of this paper is the valuation of the directions of the EU towards regional social cohesion coalesced with economic and territorial cohesion. The analysis confirms that the paradigm of economic growth is not conducive to regional cohesion. Opportunities to improve this cohesion lie in balancing the living space in accordance with the concept of sustainable development, which emphasizes the role of the settlement infrastructure in this area. Market growth mechanism in the liberal version continues to affect the reasoning in the EU bodies in the area. This speaks for confronting the past with the scientific models of the future in order to highlight the rationale of paradigm change.
