Opis:
The aim of the research was to define the scale and directions of transformation of the selected forms of land cover in the surroundings of the intra-urban areas of the Tri-city Agglomeration (Poland), combined with simultaneous testing of the usefulness of the index of convergence of structures for analysing changes in the structure of land use. The analysis was made on the basis of data from topographic maps on a scale of 1:10,000 and digital data from BDOT10k for a period of 28 years. In the areas of major changes, the scale and directions of changes between particular types of land cover were determined. Negative natural effects expressed, among other things, by the deteriorating proportion between the biologically active and built-up areas were indicated.

Opis:
The contribution deals with scientific interpretation of visual characteristics of the landscape, which was not very discussed theme until today. Our study concerns the landscape of the High Tatra Mountains. Emphasis is put on anthropogenically influenced settlement areas, with markedly displayed objects of travel movement with downhill courses. We assess visual characteristics of the landscape as landform configuration and land-cover structure composition, in order to express basic visual characteristics of the studied area. Research works in the field were important element of our research, being followed by a phase of data processing. We selected one of exposed localities with high anthropogenic influence in the High Tatras. It is a locality situated between settlement of Tatranská Lomnica and slopes below and above the Skalnaté pleso Lake. We identified visual fields (visual sectors and zones), from where are characteristic views on the mountains. We visualised landforms in their context to geological structure in a 3D model. The results obtained in this case study may be applied as a basis for environmental impact assessment (EIA) and can lead to eventual propositions of new design of downhill courses in visual exposed areas.

Opis:
The aim of this research was to present the land cover structure and landscape diversity in the West Polesie Biosphere Reserve. The land cover classification was performed using Object Based Image Analysis in Trimble eCognition Developer 8 software. The retrospective land cover changes analysis in 3 lake catchments (Kleszczów, Moszne, Białe Włodawskie Lakes)was performed on the basis of archival aerial photos taken in 1952, 1971, 1984, 1992, 2007 and one satellite scene from 2003 (IKONOS).On the basis of land cover map structure, Shannon diversity index was estimated with the moving window approach enabled in Fragstats software. The conducted research has shown that the land cover structure of the West Polesie Biosphere Reserve is diverse and can be simply described by selected landscape metrics. The highest level of land cover diversity, as showed by Shannon Diversity Index, was identified in the western part of the West Polesie Biosphere Reserve, which is closely related to the agricultural character of land cover structure in those regions. The examples of three regional retrospective land cover analyses demonstrated that the character of land cover structure has changed dramatically over the last 40 years.

Opis:
The key objective of the study is to analyse structural characteristics of the landscape from the viewpoint of the structure’s durability, characteristics and speed of change. The research focused on the area surrounding Płock. In the analysed period (1987-2010) slight changes were detected with regard to the land cover, though they were significant in terms of the natural environment. No single dominant process determining land cover change was identified. Fluctuations prevailed (producing a slightly different picture in each microregion), with a fixed pattern maintained. Distribution, shape and spatial location of land cover types are only partly determined by land lie and habitat quality. Fragmentation of the terrain is relatively high, which reflects intense land use, at the same time indicating opportunities to preserve the wildlife and vegetation typical for agrocenoses.

Opis:
Celem artykułu jest analiza zmian struktury krajobrazów po 1989 roku wybranych gmin powiatu chełmskiego w województwie lubelskim – gminy miejskiej Rejowiec Fabryczny oraz dwóch gmin miejsko-wiejskich: Rejowiec i Siedliszcze. Strukturę krajobrazu zbadano na podstawie danych o pokryciu terenu pochodzących z bazy danych CORINE Land Cover. Wykorzystując narzędzia GIS przeanalizowano zmiany w strukturze krajobrazu z zastosowaniem metryk krajobrazowych. Ponadto podjęto próbę rozpoznania znaczenia przynależności do sieci Cittaslow w kontekście zmian krajobrazowych.
The objective of the article is to analyse changes in landscape structure after 1989 in selected communes of the Chełm county in the Lublin Voivodeship, namely the urban commune of Rejowiec Fabryczny, and two urban-rural communes Rejowiec and Siedliszcze. The landscape structure was analysed based on data on land cover from the CORINE Land Cover data base. GIS tools were used for the analysis of landscape structure transformations with the application of landscape metrics. Moreover, an attempt was made to examine the affiliation to the Cittaslow network in the context of landscape transformations. The study showed that changes in land cover are not only related to the sprawl of building development, but also to an increase in the area of agricultural land outside the range of irrigation facilities, and an increase in the mean surface area of such land. A decline in land cover transformations has also been observed since 2012, as confirmed by the landscape structure diversity index. It may be related to the membership in the European Union (among others Common Agricultural Policy). The study showed no effect of affiliation with the Cittaslow network on landscape transformations. A continuation of the proposed analyses is required in a broader time perspective and in a specific spatial range.

Opis:
This paper presents pedological research in Žutica forest in northern Croatia. The most common soil types found in this area belong to the hydromorphic class (Pseudogley, pseudo- gley-gley, eugley, fluvisol) except technogenic soils formed as a result of intensive oil exploitation. Some main chemical and physical characteristics of soils are given. For forest productivity the most productive combination of soils are hypogley and pseudogley-gleysol and minimal productivity is in heavy amphygleic soils. An increase of heavy metals occurs in flooded soils in Žutica from nearby agricultural land. A high concentration of active phosphorus, and nitrogen can verify the influence of field fertilisers on the forest. Levels of cadmium found in technogenic soils exceed the permitted concentration. A large amount of CaCO3 in relation to natural forest soils can be found in technogenic soils because of quick lime disposal after oil spills and also pH increase and a nutrition and humus decrease.
