Opis:
One of key components in keeping a ship seaworthy is a correctly prepared cargo plan. Considering the recent cost cutting measures and reduced transportation volumes relevance of optimizing such a plan cannot be understated. Though there’s a number of studies addressing the issue none of them covers all the operational and constructional constraints necessary to factor for. This article presents an integer model that tries to address some of the constraints missed by other researches. A method for solving the model is designed and developed based on a steady-state genetic algorithm. A numerical experiment is conducted showing the method’s feasibility.

Opis:
The paper addresses the location-allocation and transportation problems in designing a cross-docking distribution network that consists of suppliers, cross-docks, and plants. A developed mixed-integer non- -linear model is proposed for a post-distribution cross-docking strategy with multiple cross-docks and products that cross-docks can be connected. The objective function is to minimise the total cost comprising the cost of established cross-docks and transportation costs. To obtain this model, first, two models are introduced and compared (basic non-linear model 1 and non-linear model 2 with the possibility of connections between cross-docks). Results indicate that the total cost is decreased when the connection between cross-docks exists. So, model 2 is more efficient and suitable than model 1. Then, consolidation of plant orders is added to model 2, and the developed model is formulated. Finally, some problems with different sizes are generated randomly and solved by GAMS software to evaluate the model accuracy.

Opis:
Research background: Project portfolio optimization isa  demanding process in the case of considering a large number of project intentions and has so far been the subject of research by many authors, especially foreign authors. However, the issue of project portfolio optimization is an area that is not sufficiently addressed by Slovak authors. This was the main impulse to create a specific mathematical model of integer programming with bivalent variables to optimize the company's project portfolio with the intention to reflect the specific requirements of Slovak companies. Purpose of the article: The aim of the article is to propose a mathematical model of integer programming with bivalent variables to optimize the project portfolio with a focus on Slovak companies. Methods: In accordance with the aim of the article, a questionnaire survey was carried out with the intention of identifying the criteria that are perceived by the managers of Slovak companies as important in the optimization of the project portfolio. These criteria were subsequently reflected in the mathematical model design using the mathematical programming method. Findings & Value added: Based on a literature review aimed at the project portfolio optimization, we have found a gap in considering the compliance of project intentions and strategic objectives of the company within the optimization of the project portfolio. Based on the results of the questionnaire survey, the significance of the mutual compliance of project intentions with the strategic objectives of the company was confirmed from the point of view of Slovak companies. Given the fact that our aim was to create an innovative integer programming model with bivalent variables orientated to the conditions of Slovak companies, we included in the resulting model the criteria that were not considered within the scope of existing research in this area, and which are perceived as important by the Slovak companies.

Opis:
Although Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) assumes that inputs and outputs take non-negative real values, in some realworld cases, data are integer-valued. In some situations, rounding a fractional value to the closest integer can lead to a misleading evaluation of efficiency and in some cases may lead to an infeasible projection point. To date, various radial and non-radial models have been presented. This paper proposes a slacks-based non-linear model that guarantees an integer-valued reference point for all integer targets. Also, the reference point of each target is feasible under the proposed model. The lack of a need to round answers to the closest whole value is an advantage of this method. In addition, the results of this model are compared with other models. An example is used to clarify the suggested method.

An optimization model for the cost–revenue study at the stage of system analysis and preliminary designs of storage objects such as warehouses, containers, packs and similar objects are developed. Our assumptions motivated by warehouses design lead us to a nonlinear integer optimization problem with the only basic constraint. We present algorithmic methods for obtaining the exact solution to the general problem with emphasizing the special case when both the objective and the constraint functions are increasing. The results of the paper may be used in developing software tools intended for supporting designers.

Opis:
This model optimizes port hinterland intermodal refrigerated container flows , considering both cost and quality degradation, which is distinctive from the previous literature content in a way that it quantifies the influence of carbon dioxide (CO2) emission in different setting temperature on intermodal network planning. The primary contribution of this paper is that the model is beneficial not only to shippers and customers for the novel service design, but also offer , for policy-makers of the government, insights to develop inland transport infrastructures in consideration of intermodal transportation. The majority of models of multimodal system have been established with an objective of cost minimization for normal commodities. As the food quality is possible to be influenced by varying duration time required for the storage and transportation, and transportation accompanied with refrigeration producing more CO2 emission, this paper aims to address cost minimization and quality degradation minimization within the constraint of CO2 footprint. To achieve this aim, we put the quality degradation model in a mixed-integer linear programming model used for intermodal network planning for cold chain. The example of Dalian Port and Yingkou Port offer insight into trade-offs between transportation temperature and transport mode considering CO2 footprint. Furthermore, the model can offer a useful reference for other regions with the demand for different imported food, which requires an uninterrupted cold chain during the transportation and storage.

Opis:
Continuum models generalized by fractional calculus are used in different mechanical problems. In this paper, by using the conformable fractional derivative (CFD) definition, a general form of Eringen non-local theory as a fractional non-local model (FNM) is formulated. It is then used to study the non-linear free vibration of a functional graded material (FGM) nano-beam in the presence of von-Kármán non-linearity. A numerical solution is obtained via Galerkin and multiple scale methods and effects of the integer and non-integer (fractional) order of stress gradient (in the non-local stress-strain relation) on the ratio of the non-local non-linear natural frequency to classical non-linear natural frequency of simply-supported (S-S) and clamped-free (C-F) FGM nano-beams are presented.

Odra jest naturalnym szlakiem żeglugowym dla barek obsługujących ruch towarowy między portami Szczecina i Berlina. W związku z planowanym znacznym wzrostem przewozu ładunków po wejściu Polski do Unii Europejskiej, podjęto próbę oceny ograniczeń w ruchu wynikających z przejścia śluzy Hohensaaten, łączącej Odrę z kanałem Odra - Havela. W artykule przedstawiono rozmyty model matematyczny ruchu barek należący do klasy zadań rozmytego liniowego programowania matematycznego, opartego na symetrycznym rozmytym modelu Zimmermanna.
Odra is a natural shipping route for barges carrying goods between Szczecin and Berlin harbours. As a significant increase of cargo transport is expected to take place after Poland's accession to the UE, some efforts have been made to estimate the limitations in traffic, resulting from the passage through the Hohensaaten lock, connecting Odra with the Odra-Havel Canal. The article presents a mathematical model of barge traffic, belonging to the fuzzy integer linear programming problems, based on the symmetric model proposed by Zimmermann.

Opis:
The article proposes a model in which Diffusion Approximation is used to analyse the TCP/AQM transmission mechanism in a multinode computer network. In order to prevent traffic congestion, routers implement AQM (Active Queue Management) algorithms. We investigate the influence of using RED-based AQM mechanisms and the fractional controller PIγ on the transport layer. Additionally, we examine the cases in which the TCP and the UDP flows occur and analyse their mutual influence. Both transport protocols used are independent and work simultaneously. We compare our solution with the Fluid Flow approximation, demonstrating the advantages of Diffusion Approximation.
