Artykuł ma na celu przybliżenie roli audytów zewnętrznych na przykładzie procesu weryfikacji ścieżki terapeutycznej w ośrodku radioterapii. W artykule prezentujemy wykonanie testu end-to- -end pozwalającego na uzyskanie akredytacji przez MD Anderson Cancer Center w zakresie procesu radioterapii. W styczniu 2019 r. Uniwersyteckie Centrum Kliniczne im. prof. K. Gibińskiego Śląskiego Uniwersytetu Medycznego w Katowicach przeszło pomyślnie przez tego typu proces akredytacji i otrzymało certyfikat jakości. Opis poszczególnych etapów tego audytu zewnętrznego być może przekona czytelników, że testy takie są istotne dla całościowego sprawdzenia procesu radioterapii oraz umożliwiają udział w międzynarodowych badaniach klinicznych. Ośrodek audytujący IROC Houston Quality Assurance Center należący do University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center oferuje całościową usługę dostarczenia dedykowanych fantomów wraz z instrukcjami przeprowadzenia testów, a także opracowuje ich wyniki w postaci skonsolidowanego raportu.
The scope of this article is the discussion of the role of external audits in the verification process of therapeutic chain, in a radiotherapy department. In this article an end-to-end test is presented, which allows for the accreditation by MD Anderson Cancer Center in the field of radiotherapy. In January 2019 Uniwersyteckie Centrum Kliniczne im. prof. K. Gibińskiego Śląskiego Uniwersytetu Medycznego w Katowicach passed successfully the accreditation process and received a quality certificate. The description of particular stages of this external audit may convince the readers that such tests are essential for a comprehensive control of the radiotherapy process and enable the participation in international clinical trials. The IROC Houston Quality Assurance Center of the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center provides a comprehensive service of delivering dedicated phantoms with test instructions, and also compiles the results in the form of a consolidated report.

The paper introduces a comprehensive investigation in end winding inductances of large two-pole turbo-generators. With the aid of an analytic-numeric approach, where Neumann's formula is applied, the influence of geometric characteristics of double-layer stator end windings with involute shape is analysed. This parameter study results in approximation formulas for the stator self and mutual inductances at stand level as well as for the common used end winding leakage inductance. In order to consider field affecting components as pressure plate, flux shield, rotor shaft and rotor retaining ring, finite elements models for two machines (250 MVA and 1150 MVA) are created and computed. The results are integrated in the developed approximation formulas. Finally the simulation results of machine 1 are compared to the data of two different measurements. All approaches introduced in this paper show good correlation. The high speed of the analytic-numeric calculation is combined with the accuracy and opportunity to consider field affecting components within the extensive finite element computation successfully.

The adoption of IT/IS has repeatedly paved the way for the modernization of maritime ports. Despite the growing importance of information systems in solving current and future challenges, little attention has been paid to this topic in the area of maritime logistics. The march of digitalization continues to change the logistics processes in modern seaports. This study presents a tool called End to End Tool that allows to obtain a picture of the past, present and future situation around the digilatization of Spanish ports, it is a model of observation of the environment and the most representative factors. It allows to know the reality of the conditions of the port environment where the digilatization has been thought to be developed, moreover, in its final phase it allows to establish the possible scenarios of digilatization for Spanish ports, highlighting as main conclusion that there is still a long way to go in digilatization, such as making an immediate conversion to digital, intelligent and green ports, which optimize the existing infrastructures with a plus of capacity thanks to the intelligent management of spaces.

Cognitive radio is a new communication paradigm that is able to solve the problem of spectrum scarcity in wireless networks. In this paper, interference aware routing game, (IRG), is proposed that connects the flow initiators to the destinations. A network formation game among secondary users (SUs) is formulated in which each secondary user aims to maximize its utility, while it reduces the aggregate interference on the primary users (PUs) and the end-to-end delay. In order to reduce the end-to-end delay and the accumulated interference, the IRG algorithm selects upstream neighbors in a view point of the sender. To model the interference between SUs, IRG uses the signal-to-interference-plus noise (SINR) model. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is validated by evaluating the aggregate interference from SUs to the PUs and end-to-end delay. A comprehensive numerical evaluation is performed, which shows that the performance of the proposed algorithm is significantly better than the Interference Aware Routing (IAR) using network formation game in cognitive radio mesh networks.

The concept of endings suggests that the whole idea can be perceived not only in one way. The article concentrates on a theory that in the very beginning there was an end and it initiated everything. Furthermore, the moment when something ends is inseparably connected with the conception of something else. There is no clear definition of ending, because it may concern many different circumstances, and its consequences may be often various. The end is obviously strongly related to death and Diddy, the protagonist of Death Kit by Susan Sontag. The complexity of the main character is presented by his various nicknames. The man committed suicide, and this act, altogether with illness, is treated as a halfway to death. The way itself seems to be an important aspect in the plot due to dying hallucinations that Diddy experiences. The fatal attempt of the protagonist was successful, and the whole adventure in the novel is deceptive. Life is substituted with appearances of life, thus everything described never takes place, in fact.

The concept of the BOUNDARY, relevant in the philosophy for designating objects, has the same function also in the language. The word granica, from grań, i.e. a conventional sign set for separating one territory from another, in the process of time started to design not only the names of territories but also abstract names of objects without inherent boundaries. The author proposes to distinguish two lexical units with the sequence granica: granice czegoś 'boundaries of something', and granica między czymś a czymś 'boundary between ... and ...', both of which separate an object from surroundings. Using the first one, the speaker localizes the objects in space, whereas using the second one he separates it from other objects.

This essay considers man’s perennial search for the meaning of life, specifically in its philosophical (Aristotelian) formulation namely as the pursuit of happiness, and how Christianity radically redefined the issue. Jacques Maritain began his philosophical analysis on the basis of Aristotle’s analysis because he regards Aristotle’s position as the finest fruit of reason even though it fails. Maritain’s analysis supplements Aristotle’s with man’s experience of the Incarnation and the Christian’s experience of faith, hope, and charity. Jesus promised the good thief “Today thou shalt be with me in paradise” (Luke 23:43) and thereby identified God as man’s objective end. Jacques Maritain’s reflection employs rational concepts drawn from reason and theological concepts taken from theology, adequately considered the issue, and constitutes a Christian philosophical treatment of the end of man.

The paper concerns bandwidth allocation problem on the telecommunication market where there are many sellers and buyers. Sellers offer the bandwidth of telecommunication links. Buyers are interested in the purchase of the bandwidth of several links that makes up an end-to-end connection between two nodes of telecommunication network. We analyze three auction models supporting such a bandwidth exchange: NSP (network second price), BCBT (model for balancing communication bandwidth trading) and BCBT-CG which is a modification of BCBT that applies column generation technique. All of these models concern divisible network resources, treat bandwidth of telecommunication links as an elementary commodity offered for sale, and allow for purchasing bandwidth along multiple paths joining two telecommunication nodes. All of them also aim at maximizing the social welfare. Considered auction models have been compared in the respect of economic and computational efficiency. Experimental studies have been performed on several test instances based on the SNDlib library data sets.

Computerized milling process is widely used in product manufacturing. Although manufacturing has gradually become highly-automated, the selection of machining conditions still remains an ever-present challenge in the process. To provide some findings contributable for the process planning, this study focuses on ball and filleted end milling. After brief explanations were given to the path interval determinations in both milling processes, the experiments were conducted to verify and characterize each procedure. The results of computational procedures showed good agreement with the experimental ones. Then, material removal rate and cutting force were analytically proposed for effective selection of machining conditions. The following findings were obtained from the demonstrations with discussion. Ball end milling required relatively large cutting force in the first tool path even though the material removal rate was comparatively small. On the contrary, filleted end mill enabled us to maintain a moderate cutting force in the first tool path even if the material removal rate expanded with increasing tool radius.

In this article, I restate the interpretation of Aristotle’s Ph. 2.5, 196b17–21, which I presented for the first time in my book I fondamenti della causalità naturale (2006). According to my reading, both the things that are due to deliberation and those that are not (Arist. Ph. 196b17–18) fall within the group of beings which come to be not for the sake of anything (Arist. Ph. 196b17). In his recent book, Aristotle’s Concept of Chance (Albany 2012), John Dudley found my interpretation laudable and original but rejected it, opting for the traditional interpretation. As he did not provide sufficient reasons for this, I deem it appropriate to discuss more broadly and in greater detail my interpretation in order to demonstrate that it is correct theoretically, linguistically and grammatically. I also discuss a reading of Neoplatonic commentators which seems to me very useful: when commenting on Aristotle, they start with a very prejudicial interpretation which comes from Alexander and which probably determined all later interpretations of the passage. According to this interpretation, beings which come to be not for the sake of anything (Arist. Ph. 196b17) are beings that have no teleology of any kind. Yet this exegetic position faces a series of difficulties which can easily be solved if one assumes, as I do, that these beings have a certain end albeit not an intrinsic one.

Currently there is no harmonized approach across the EU to categorize digestate as a waste or a full-value product. Instruments such as the "End-of-Waste" (EoW) may enable its exclusion from the scope of the Waste Framework Directive. Digestate can be an attractive fertilizer and provide an additional source of income for producers, subsequently eliminating the costs of its disposal. According to current legislation and the status of the market in Poland, digestate is usually treated as a by-product requiring disposal and causing additional outlays for a company. This article presents the valid regulations concerning the possibilities of the agricultural application of digestate.

We have calculated and discussed the probability density distributions of lengths of fuzzy-end segments, i. e. segments the ends of which assume random positions. We per-formed our calculations for several simple cases in 1, 2 and 3 dimensions: one end fixed, the other assuming a random position, and both ends at random positions. The obtained statistical data may serve as reference data for calculations of stochastic-geometrical properties of complex systems, such as conformations of complicated bolted construc-tions with clearances (in structure mechanics) or energy transfer processes between molecules in diluted systems (in physics).

Opis:
Facial recognition has been one of the most intriguing and exciting research topics over the last few years. It involves multiple face-based algorithms such asfacial detection, facial alignment, facial representation, and facial recognition. However, all of these algorithms are derived from large deep-learning architectures, leading to limitations in development, scalability, accuracy, and deployment for public use with mere CPU servers. Also, large data sets that contain hundreds of thousands of records are often required for training purposes. In this paper, we propose a complete pipeline for an effective face-recognition application that requires only a small data set of Vietnamese celebrities and a CPU for training, solving the problem of data leakage, and the need for GPU devices. The pipeline is based on the combination of a conversion algorithm from face vectors to string tokens and the indexing & retrieval process by Elasticsearch, thereby tackling the problem of online learning in facial recognition. Compared with other popular algorithms on the same data set, our proposed pipeline not only outperforms the counterpart in terms of accuracy but also delivers faster inference, which is essential to real-time applications.

The aim of this article is a presentation of the problem of terminal sedation as a special medical procedure, an alternative to euthanasia and physician assisted death. Terminal sedation is consist in narcotizing the patient in the last stage of terminal disease, sometimes with discontinued nutrition and hydration until death. The goal of this procedure is to eliminate pain and suffering without causing death of the patient. The opponents of this method claim that terminal sedation is a form of euthanasia. The supporters see the difference because the intention of physician must relieve unbearable suffering when the other procedures are useless. The terminal sedation has to be last resort in palliative care and the decision making process must be very careful. In case of applying this radical method the basis should be always the informed consent of the patient and the respect for the dying person.
