    Opis:
    Purpose: The main aim of the article is indicates the possibilities of streamline the public procurement picking process taking place in the selected warehouse. Design/methodology/approach: Areas requiring corrective action have been identified through the use of the indicator method and Ishikawa diagram. For reorganizing the storage zone, thereby reducing order picking time, ABC analysis was used. Findings: The analysis of test results allowed to identify two areas requiring improvement in the picking process: productivity and organization of the storage zone. In order to improve the picking process, it was proposed to reorganize the storage zone. Originality/value: The article presents a practical value for better logistics processes in warehouse. The analysis of corrective actions areas can also reduce the number of errors when picking the products in warehouse.

    Problem optymalizacji rozdziału palet jest jednym z wielu problemów optymalizacyjnych pojawiających się we współcześnie funkcjonujących centrach dystrybucyjnych. Jest jednak jednym z kluczowych problemów poza optymalizacją tras, optymalizacją rozmieszczenia zapasów w magazynach wysokiego składowania itp. Dodatkowo należy podkreślić, że problem optymalizacji rozdziału palet obejmuje horyzont krótkookresowy np. dobę. W artykule przedstawiony został model matematyczny optymalizacji rozdziału palet oraz jego implementacja. Przedstawiono również przykłady liczbowe optymalizacji. Jako środowisko implementacjii rozwiązania modelu zaproponowano deklaratywne środowisko programowania w logice z ograniczeniami CLP (Constraint Logic Programming).
    Problem of optimizing the allocation of pallets is one of many problems in modern distribution centers. It is one of very important problems, except for e.g. routing optimization, space optimization etc. Additionally, it should be noted that the problem of optimizing the allocation of pallets for routes and trucks is a short-run horizon, e.g. every day, process. The optimization and implementation model of that problem is presented in this paper. A solution of this model for numerical examples is also described. As a solution the environment constraint logic programming (CLP) environment has been used. CLP combines the declarative logic based programming with specialized constraint solving methods from artificial intelligence, Operations Research (OR) and mathematics. It allows the clear and concise expression of a wide class of combinatorial problems together with their efficient solution. In parallel with ongoing research in this field, CLP is now increasingly used to tackle real world decision making problems.

    For logistics enterprises, site selection and path layout are related to the cost and efficiency of distribution, which is a very critical issue and has an important impact on the development of enterprises. Compared with land logistics, the cost of marine ship logistics is higher due to the high cost of ships, so the research on the location and path layout of its distribution centers is also particularly important. This paper established a two-layer model under the assumption that unit transpor-tation costs and administration expenses are known for the site selection and path layout problems of marine ship logistics distribution centers. Corresponding constraint conditions were set. The upper layer was the optimization model of the site selection problem of the distribution center, and the objective function was to minimize operating and construction costs and was solved using the quantum particle swarm optimization (QPSO) algorithm. The lower layer was the optimization model of the distribution path layout, and the objective function was to minimize the logistics distribution cost and was solved using the ant colony optimization (ACO) algorithm. The model was verified through an example analysis. It was assumed that there were three ships, five candidate distribution centers, and ten customer points. The model was solved in MATLAB software. The results of the example analysis showed that compared with K-means, genetic algorithm (GA), and particle swarm optimization (PSO)-ACO algorithms, the QPSO-ACO algorithm had the shortest running time, about 60 s, which saved about 50% compared to the K-means algorithm. The optimal cost of the QPSO-ACO algorithm was 293,400 yuan, which was significantly lower than the K-means, GA, and PSO-ACO algorithms (459,600 yuan, 398,300 yuan, and 357,700 yuan). In this example, the site obtained by the QPSO-ACO algorithm was distribution center 2, and the obtained path distribution was 1-7-5-4, 2-6-3, and 10-8-9. The results verify the effectiveness of the QPSO-ACO algorithm in solving the problem of site selection and path layout. The QPSO-ACO algorithm can be applied in the actual marine ship logistics.

    Opis:
    Purpose: Main reason to write the paper is to show one of possible models in market research for choosing the macro area for location of distribution center. There is lack of such researches in the research studies so it’s worth to show different perspectives that are also used in real logistics business. Design/methodology/approach: The approach to the topic is to present and introduce the theoretical value of the topic with an analysis of the literature to then conduct empirical research. Main methods used for research were Mixed Methods between Observation, Secondary Data Analysis and Experiments. The goals of the article have been achieved through the scientific study conducted. Findings: The main results developed in the article are concerned with measuring the attractiveness of Poland's regions for investment in creating a goods distribution center for a logistics operator. The analysis model can be used secondarily to analyze other, arbitrarily selected regions. Research limitations/implications: The research conducted in the course of preparing the publication addresses several key factors, selected by the author. Further research may consider other aspects, factors or may be expanded to include additional factors to deepen the analysis. The research may also be part of the contribution or research part to the creation of a universal model for distribution center location choices. Practical implications: (if applicable) What outcomes and implications for practice, applications and consequences are identified? How will the research impact upon the business or enterprise? What changes to practice should be made as a result of this research? What is the commercial or economic impact? Not all papers will have practical implications. Social implications: The research is 100% focused on practical use and application. For logistics operators looking to expand their business, especially in Poland, it provides a starting point for analysis and strategic decision-making within the location of their base of distribution facilities. A limitation is the access to data on demographics and especially considering the level of earnings of operational employees, which is difficult to estimate for a general model due to the lack of specific business assumptions about the scale of operations. Originality/value: The novelty of the article and the study is the attempt to approach universalization in terms of identifying factors and aspects that are relevant and can be applied to the selection of locations for freely chosen and compared regions, not only the level of provinces as in the case of the study developed in the article.

    This study analyses and discusses how the unique cargo movements in Japan and changes in the social environment during the COVID-19 pandemic have affected social life. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, cargo movements in Japan have undergone significant changes. This study analyses cargo movements in Japan by showing correlation coefficients to indicate the extent to which each industry was affected by the spread of the new coronavirus to infected persons. The heightened awareness of the pandemic caused by the state of emergency led to the closure of many stores and a decline in outbound shipments. Although the volume of incoming shipments increased, the volume of outgoing shipments did not. As a result, warehouse vacancy rates declined. Therefore, the study revealed that distribution centers in Japan are becoming more self-sufficient, and cloud-based logistics information systems are becoming more widely used.

    Celem rozważań jest rozpoznanie zmian zachodzących w kanałach dystrybucji artykułów konsumpcyjnych pod wpływem pośredników hurtowych oraz płynących z nich korzyści. Prowadzone rozważania skoncentrowały się na trzech kwestiach. Pierwsza to pogłębiająca się kooperacja między ogniwami kanałów dystrybucji (głównie na styku hurt – detal). Ma ona bowiem wpływ na rozwój kanałów zintegrowanych, w tym zwłaszcza kontraktowych. Druga to wdrażanie przez porozumienia kontraktowe wspólnych rozwiązań i koncepcji logistycznych. Ich wyrazem jest m.in. uruchamianie przez pośredników hurtowych, będących inicjatorami takich porozumień, wspólnych centrów dystrybucyjnych. Trzecia to coraz szersze zastosowanie technologii informatycznych, co ma związek z rozwojem tego typu centrów. Artykuł jest podsumowaniem prowadzonych przez autora, począwszy od 1989 roku, stałych obserwacji i analiz zmian, które zachodzą w kanałach dystrybucji pod wpływem pośredników hurtowych. Z uwagi na brak sprawozdawczości statystycznej z tego zakresu, wykorzystano w nim dostępne źródła wtórne (np. publikacje, raporty i informacje pochodzące ze stron internetowych największych dystrybutorów artykułów konsumpcyjnych w Polsce).
    An aim of considerations is to recognise the changes occurring in the channels of distribution of consumer goods under the influence of wholesale brokers and the benefits therefrom. The conducted considerations are focused on the three issues. The first is the deepening cooperation between links of distribution channels (mainly between wholesaling and retailing) as it influences development of integrated channels and, particularly, contractual. The second is implementation by contractual agreements of joint logistic solutions and concepts. They mean, inter alia, the launch by wholesale brokers, being initiators of such agreements, common distribution centres. The third is the broader and broader application of information technologies, what is connected with the development of such centres. The article is a resumption of the carried out by the author, starting from 1989, constant observations and analyses of the changes occurring in distribution channels under the influence of wholesale brokers. Due to the lack of statistical reporting in this regard, the author made use in it of the accessible secondary sources (e.g. publications, reports and information originating from websites of major distributors of consumer goods in Poland).
    Цель рассуждений – выявить изменения, происходящие в каналах распределения потребительских товаров под влиянием оптовых посредников, и вытекающие из них выгоды. Проводимые рассуждения сосредоточены на трех вопросах. Первый – углубляющееся сотрудничество между звеньями каналов распределения (в основном, на стыке опта и розницы), ибо оно влияет на развитие интегрированных каналов, в том числе, в особенности, контрактных. Второй – внедрение контрактными соглашениями совместных логистических решений и концепций. Их выражение – в частности, ввод в действие оптовыми посредниками, являющимися инициаторами таких соглашений, совместных распределительных центров. Третий – все более широкое применение информатических технологий, что связано с развитием такого вида центров. Статья– подведение итогов проводимых автором, начиная с 1989 г., постоянных на- блюдений и анализов изменений, происходящих в каналах распределения под влиянием оптовых посредников. Из-за нехватки статистической отчетности в этой области в ней использовали доступные вторичные источники (напр. публикации, отчеты и информация с вебсайтов крупнейших дистрибьюторов потребительских товаров в Польше).

    Opis:
    Dotychczasowa struktura handlu detalicznego sprzyja dalszemu funkcjonowaniu tradycyjnego hurtu instytucjonalnego. Mimo to w ostatnich latach zachodzą w nim istotne zmiany. Dokonują się one m.in. pod wpływem uczestnictwa w procesach konsolidacji, rozwijania marek własnych, wdrażania nowoczesnych technologii oraz rozwoju bazy logistyczno-magazynowej. W artykule pokazano, że tradycyjni pośrednicy hurtowi, dążąc do poprawy obsługi klientów, rozwijają coraz częściej własne zaplecza logistyczno-magazynowe. W efekcie, w pierwszej dekadzie bieżącego stulecia doszło do istotnej poprawy stanu ilościowo-jakościowego sieci magazynowej handlu. Jednocześnie przekształcenia zachodzące w detalu (a zwłaszcza uruchamianie placówek wielkopowierzchniowych i różnego rodzaju zgrupowań sieci sklepów), a także w sferze produkcji wywołały potrzebę rozwoju nowoczesnych obiektów magazynowych oraz ich zgrupowań w formie centrów dystrybucyjnych i parków logistycznych. Gwarantują one bowiem zabezpieczenie wysokiej jakości towarów, właściwą i terminową realizację szerokiego wachlarza usług, przy jednoczesnym obniżaniu kosztów związanych z fizycznym przebiegiem towarów i towarzyszących im strumieni.
    The hitherto structure of retailing is conducive to a further functioning of the traditional institutional wholesale trade. Yet, in the recent years, there have been occurring there substantial changes. They are made, among other things, under the influence of participation in consolidation processes, development of private labels, implementation of up-to-date technologies and development of the logistics and warehousing base. In his article, the author shows that traditional wholesale agents, seeking to improve customer services, develop more and more often their own logistics and warehousing bases. In effect, in the first decade of the present century, there took place a substantial improvement of the quantitative and qualitative state of trade warehousing network. At the same time, the transformations occurring in retailing (and particularly opening of large facilities and various groups of shop chains) as well as in the sphere of production have evoked the need of development of modern warehouse facilities and their groups in the form of distribution centres and logistic parks as they guarantee assurance of high quality of goods, proper and prompt provision of a wide range of services with a simultaneous reduction of costs related to physical movement of commodity and accompanying them flows.
    Существующая до сих пор структура розничной торговли способствует дальнейшему функционированию традиционного институционального опта. Несмотря на это, в последние годы в нем происходят существенные изменения. Они осуществляются, в частности, под влиянием участия в процессах консолидации, развития собственных марок, внедрения современных технологий и развития логистической и складской базы. В статье указывается, что традиционные оптовые посредники, стремясь улучшить обслуживание клиентов, развивают все чаще собственную логистическую и складскую базу. В результате в первой декаде текущего столетия произошло существенное улучшение количественного и качественного состояния складской сети торговли. Одновременно преобразования, происходящие в рознице (и, в особенности, ввод в действие крупных объектов и разновидных групп сети магазинов), а также в сфере производства вызвали необходимость развивать современные складские объекты и их группировки в форме распределительных центров и логистических парков, ибо они гарантируют обеспечение высокого качества товаров, соответствующее и своевременное оказание широкого круга услуг при одновременном снижении издержек, связанных с физическим продвижением товаров и сопутствующих им потоков.

Celem artykułu jest scharakteryzowanie trzech centrów dystrybucji na terenie województwa łódzkiego: Panattoni Park Business Center Łódź w Łodzi, Logistic City-Piotrków Distribution Center w Piotrkowie Trybunalskim oraz SEGRO Logistics Park Stryków w Strykowie oraz analiza potencjału jaki mają centra zlokalizowane na obszarze tego województwa.
    The article discusses the general concept of a logistics center with the elements that compose it and describes its evolution over the years. Then, discussed it was the place that occupies the center of logistics and the role it plays in the context of supply chain operations. In addition, it contains information about the operating concept of logistic centers in the supply chain. The aim of this article is to characterize the three distribution centers in the province of Lodz: Panattoni Park Business Center Lodz in Lodz, Piotrkow City- Logistic Distribution Center in Piotrkow and SEGRO Logistics Park Stryków Stryków and analysis of the potential that they have centers located in the area of the province.
