    The aim of this article is to formulate guidelines for locating benches in rural public spaces. It is a summary of the results of a qualitative research involving 67 users of urban benches, conducted with the application of individual in-depth interviews, and the results of a literature review on the manner in which rural public spaces are equipped. The obtained results pertain to the use of benches in rural public spaces in the context of their integration and semantic potential (symbolic values). The conclusions are presented in the form of general guidelines. Public consultation should be an important element in deciding how to equip rural common space with benches. Local communities ought to be included in the decision-making process, from the stage of the assumptions of the design concepts to the stage of realization. It is advisable to adjust the form of benches, their number, orientation and location to the nature of public space and expectations of their future users. At the same time, the overall structure of public space and its main functions should be taken into account. Properly selected and placed benches can support the process of community structuring and may be a part of the equipment of public space which integrates the local community. Locating benches opposite each other or in the shape of the letter L or C promotes integration. Designing space according to the safe space standards can be a solution for sites conducive to drinking alcohol. Locating benches in the vicinity of streets, at the fence bypass, is a traditional way. Benches with atypical forms or functions located in common areas may contribute to the extraction or strengthening of the local identity.

    This paper examines the experiences of Jewish university students in Warsaw, Lvov, Wilno and Cracow, focusing on their interactions with each other as well as with other students. These experiences are divided into three categories: daily encounters and mutual relations (or the lack thereof), the vision of the academic community to which the students aspired, and Jewish students' reactions to antisemitism. I argue that for many Jewish students, these daily university experiences both on campuses and beyond strengthened their sense of being outsiders. Having been excluded from most of the general student organizations they had to form their own, which limited their interactions with other students even further, and, above all, strengthened feeling that they were being singled out and victimized.

    Artykuł przedstawia wyniki badań przeprowadzonych na podstawie oryginalnej (autorskiej) metodyki badawczej dotyczącej struktury zachowań osób odwiedzających ławkowe pomniki rozmieszczone na ul. Piotrkowskiej w Łodzi. Badania zostały zaprojektowane i przeprowadzone w siedmioosobowym zespole studentów Wydziału Nauk Geograficznych Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego. Oprócz pomiaru liczby odwiedzających w dzień powszedni i weekendowy skupiono się na obserwacji zachowań tych osób. Zidentyfikowano ponad 40 różnych zachowań i związane z nimi emocje – pozytywne oraz negatywne. Ich zróżnicowanie starano się wyjaśnić wieloma czynnikami, z których najistotniejsze to lokalizacja pomnika na głównej ulicy oraz jego forma. Badania należy uznać za eksperymentalne, skłaniające do kontynuacji i poszerzenia ich perspektywy, a więc postawienia kolejnych, czy nawet nowych pytań badawczych.
    The article presents the results of research obtained on the basis of the author’s original methodology for analysing visitor behavior towards the ‘monuments benches’ placed on Piotrkowska Street in Lodz. The research was designed and carried out by a team of seven students from the University of Lodz’s Faculty of Geographical Sciences. In addition to measuring the number of weekday and weekend visitors, the focus was on observing their behavior. More than 40 different behaviors and their associated positive and negative emotions were identified. Their variation was explained by various factors, the most significant of which were the monuments’ location on the city’s main street and their form. The research should be considered experimental, urging the continuation and broadening of its perspective, thus posing further or even new research questions.

    The aim of the study was to examine responses of ‘Premium Red’ poinsettia cultivated on ebb-and-flow benches at different nutrient solution concentrations (1.6, 2.0 and 2.4 mS·cm-1). Plants were grown at a greenhouse in 1.2 dm3 pots, filled in TS2 medium. The highest plants with the largest diameters and best quality were found when EC of the nutrient solution concentration was 2.0 or 2.4 mS·cm-1. At the vegetative and bract coloration stages, leaves of plants supplied with nutrient solutions at 2.0 and 2.4 mS·cm-1 had higher status of chlorophyll than those of from nutrient solution of 1.6 mS·cm-1. As the nutrient solution concentration increased, both concentrations of salts and macronutrients (N-NO3, P, K, Ca, Mg) in the medium increased. It was concluded that in cultivation of poinsettia on ebb-and-flow benches, adequate EC value of nutrient solution concentration was 2.0 mS·cm-1.

Przedstawiono założenia projektowe oraz ograniczenia konstrukcyjne. Omówiono zasadę działania stanowiska i metodę wyznaczania charakterystyki. Opisano układ hydrauliczny oraz układ sterowania, jak i zaprezentowano model 3D. Zaprojektowane stanowisko badawcze pozwala na testy stacjonarne oraz mobilne w zakresie mocy określonej przez układ hydrauliczny.
    The paper presents a design of an engine test bench, which is used to determine the general characteristics of a truck engine using a power take-off to drive a hydraulic system that generates a load on the engine at various points in its operation. The design assumptions and design constraints are presented. It discusses the principle of the test bench and the characteristics calculation method. Hydraulics and control systems have been described as well as the 3D model. The design of the test bench allows for stationary and mobile tests in the power range specified by the hydraulic system.

    W swoim artykule przeprowadzam analizę porównawczą dwóch postępowań dyscyplinarnych wszczętych przeciwko studentkom Wydziału Matematyczno-Przyrodniczego Uniwersytetu Stefana Batorego w Wilnie, Rywce Profitkier i Esterze Tajc, jeszcze przed wprowadzeniem getta ławkowego, które nie chcąc podporządkować się ówczesnej praktyce studenckiej, nie zajęły miejsca po lewej stronie sali wykładowej, a w końcu wysłuchały wykładu, stojąc pomiędzy ławkami. Analizę swoją osadzę w kontekście wydarzeń całego roku akademickiego 1936/1937, w którym to uniwersytet był zamknięty przez prawie trzy miesiące z uwagi na przemoc antyżydowską. Materiałem badawczym będą dokumenty dwóch postępowań dyscyplinarnych, których podstawą były zdarzenia mające miejsce w odstępie zaledwie jednego dnia, lecz, co najważniejsze, wydarzenia te miały podobny przebieg. Ze względu jednak na różne strategie obrane przez bohaterki sankcje, które spotkały je za niepodporządkowanie się ówczesnej praktyce wydzielania miejsc studentom i studentkom żydowskim, były znacząco odmienne.
    In my article I propose an outline of a comparative analysis of two disciplinary proceedings initiated against students of the Mathematics and Natural Science Faculty of Stefan Batory University in Vilnius, Rywka Profitkier and Estera Tajc, before the introduction of the so-called ghetto benches. Two female students refused to subordinate to the student practice at that time, and did not take a seat on the left side of the lecture hall. Hence, they both listened to the lecture standing between the benches. I will situate my analysis in the context of the events of the entire 1936/1937 academic year, in which the university was closed for almost three months due to the anti-Jewish violence. The sources consist of the documents of two disciplinary proceedings based on events that occurred only one day apart, but most importantly, they took a similar course. However, due to the different strategies chosen by the female students, the sanctions imposed on them for not subordinating to the practice of taking seats assigned to Jews at the time were significantly different.

There are given proposed configuration of test stand, method and range of this vehicle driving axles research.

    Praca zawiera ocenę możliwości korygowania pogłosowości wnętrza zabytkowych kościołów drewnianych. Przedstawione badania dotyczą wpływu pokryć ław kościelnych na charakterystykę pogłosową wnętrza zabytkowego, drewnianego kościoła pw. Narodzenia NMP zlokalizowanego w Szałszy w województwie śląskim. W pracy zmierzono czas pogłosu wnętrza kościoła. Pomiarów dokonano dla dwu wariantów - z uwzględnieniem miękkich pokryć ław kościelnych oraz bez pokryć ław kościelnych. Na podstawie badań czasu pogłosu wyznaczono szereg parametrów oceny jakości akustycznej wnętrza (STI, D50, C80, stosunek basów oraz stosunek trebli).
    This paper presents evaluation of the possibilities of using soft bench covers to changing reverberation characteristics in interior of historic wooden church of Blessed Virgin Mary’s placed in Szałsza. Tarnowskie Góry County. Paper contains measurements of the reverberation times for interior of the church. Measurements were done for two cases - allow for soft covers for pews and without covers. Based on measurements of reverberation times, were determined some parameters of acoustic quality evaluation for interiors (STI, D50, C80, bass and treble ratio).

    The article analyses the participation of lay judges in criminal proceedings in Poland and Germany from the comparative perspective. In both countries, there has been a visible tendency over the years to reduce the participation of lay judges in criminal judicature. Whereas in Poland their role is so marginalised that it raises doubts about its constitutionality, lay judges still play a significant role in German criminal proceedings, and there are numerous arguments in favour of their participation in trials. The rules concerning the remuneration for lay judges constitute a significant problem of the Polish system, which discourages professionally active people from holding the office. In Germany, on the other hand, the rules on the remuneration and compensation, as well as other mechanisms are designed to ensure that lay judges mirror all groups in society
    Niniejszy artykuł stanowi prawnoporównawczą analizę zagadnienia udziału ławników w postępowaniu karnym w Polsce i w Niemczech. W obu państwach na przestrzeni lat widoczne są tendencje do ograniczania tego udziału. O ile jednak w Polsce rola ławników została zmarginalizowana w stopniu budzącym wątpliwości natury konstytucyjnej, to ich udział w niemieckich postępowaniach karnych jest nadal znaczny, za czym też przemawiają liczne zalety sędziów nieprofesjonalnych. Bolączką polskiego systemu jest ukształtowanie systemu finansowania ławników, który zniechęca do pełnienia urzędu osoby aktywne zawodowo. W Niemczech natomiast, poprzez zasady wypłaty rekompensat oraz inne rozwiązania, kładzie się nacisk na to, by urząd ławnika sprawowały osoby reprezentujące pełny przekrój ludności.
