    Popularyzacja podróży rowerowych sprzyja zmniejszeniu kongestii transportowej, hałasu i zanieczyszczeniu w miastach. Służy również promocji zdrowego stylu życia. W tej sytuacji celowym wydało się przeprowadzenie badań dotyczących transportu rowerowego na terytorium Lublina. Celem artykułu było przedstawienie uwarunkowań tego rodzaju przemieszczeń w opinii respondentów. Przedstawione zostały główne postulaty, od których realizacji uzależniona jest popularyzacja tej formy przewozów.
    Popularization of cycling trips favors the reduce of traffic congestion, noise and pollution in cities. It also encourages the promotion of healthy lifestyles. In this case it is advisable to conduct studies concerning on bicycle transport on the territory of Lublin. The aim of the article was to present the conditions of this form of transport in the opinion of respondents. The main demands were presented, from the realization of which depends on the popularization of this form of transport.

    Postrzeganie wzrokowe umożliwia człowiekowi podejmowanie codziennych działań, w tym aktywności polegających na odtwarzaniu za pomocą języka plastyki obserwowanych przedmiotów. Celem prowadzonych badań odnoszących się do umiejętności graficznego zapisu graniastosłupa foremnego trójkątnego stało się ustalenie przebiegu rozwoju rysunkowych obrazowań tejże bryły znajdującej się w polu widzenia obserwatora. Obrana metoda analizy dokumentów, jakimi stały się rysunki dzieci w wieku 6–9 lat, pozwoliła wskazać charakterystyczne cechy tworzonych graficznych zapisów. Problemem zasadniczym stało się pytanie o przebieg zachodzących w poszczególnych grupach wiekowych badanych dzieci zmian w rysunkowych obrazach obserwowanego graniastosłupa. Istotne było ustalenie rysunkowych jego modeli oraz przebiegu zmian odnoszących się do stosowanej kolorystyki i występujących perspektyw (ujęcia płaskie, przestrzenne, perspektywa topograficzna).
    Visual perception allows human being to undertake everyday actions including the activities that involve reconstruction of observed objects with the use of the language of fine arts. The aim of conducted studies, which referred to abilities to present a uniform triangular prism, was to define the course of development of drawing representations of the prism that was located in the field of vision of the observer. The applied method of document analysis, which focused on drawings of 6–9 year old children, allowed to indicate characteristic features of created graphic representations. The essential problem became the question about some changes in the drawings presenting observed prism, which occurred in particular age groups of children. It became important to determine some drawing models and the course of changes in terms of used colours and per-spective (flat, spatial and topographic perspective).

    Introduction/background: The intent of the paper was to verify the hypothesis: H0 – Pilot study is an integral part of any research process and directs the research process. H1 – Pilot study is not an integral part of any research process and does not direct the research process. Aim of the paper: The aim of the paper is to verify whether a pilot study is an integral part of any research process and whether it directs research processes. Materials and methods: In order to verify the hypothesis, a quantitative survey (questionnaire) was conducted, which was addressed to a group of management science theoreticians (401 representatives). Results and conclusions: The results obtained revealed that: 86% of the surveyed scientists, specialising in management science, believe that pilot studies direct the research process, 88% of all scientists specialising in management science believe that pilot studies have an impact on the course of the research process, 70% of all management scientists believe that pilot studies are an integral part of any research process. Thus, hypothesis H1 was rejected. Of key importance, from the point of view of the development of this science, are the needs to develop principles for the application of the methods that make up the pragmatic methodology, and to disseminate methodological paradigms identified in particular in the approach of the contemporary methodology of management sciences.

    Opis:
    The aim of the study was to design a weather station dedicated for applications in the forestry. The device is thought to be used to measure temperature, pressure, humidity and sunlight and to record that data to the microSD memory card supplementing also the information on the time of measurement. The objective of the field part of the study was to gather accurate meteorological data from the interior of the forest to the geostatistical analysis, necessary for breeding purposes. Here we present the assumptions for technical equipment and describe the components of the device, including the systems of sensor and control. In the further stage of the study we performed the comparative test of the prototype with a professional weather station. The results show a very strong correlation between data form both devices, while the average error relative is at a very satisfactory level: temperature (0.15°C), relative humidity (–3.73%), pressure (–3.37 hPa) and light intensity (–0.82 klx). The project proved that it is possible to construct simple and economically grounded weather station. The total cost of presented prototype does not exceed 500 PLN (ca. 110 US$). We suggest to continue further research and development of the network of similar weather stations. It may allow to create a model of meteorological factors for bigger areas.

    Reflection in teacher development is important as it can help both experienced and novice teachers to better understand the processes they are involved in. It can also be used to aid evaluation processes. This paper presents a small scale study that involved undergraduate English philology students from Gdańsk University who were studying for the teacher specialisation. One of its purposes was to trial a strategy for feedback that could be used to mediate an already existing model of assessment for students’ taught lessons, which previous to the study used only a prescribed set of assessment criteria. Another purpose was to promote a reflective turn in both the student-teacher and academic mentor (myself), which would then inform the discussions that took place after each observed lesson. In addition to this, I was interested to find out if this strategy would generate a suitable quality and quantity of information, so that it might be used for further research. Overall, the strategy proved a useful aid to reflection in relation to the students’ teaching practices. As a research tool, it also generated usable data.

    Celem artykułu jest prezentacja wyników badań sondażowych umożliwiająca określenie luki badawczej w zakresie identyfikacji znaczenia dystansu psychicznego w procesie internacjonalizacji polskich przedsiębiorstw. Badania sondażowe, które dostarczyły wiedzy na temat znaczenia czynników dystansu psychicznego w procesie podejmowania decyzji o internacjonalizacji, pozwoliły także na przetestowanie założeń badawczych związanych z wyborem metody i techniki badawczej, założeń związanych ze sposobem doboru i liczebnością próby oraz konstrukcją narzędzia badawczego, jakim jest kwestionariusz. Jako metodykę przyjęto krytyczną analizę literatury przedmiotu z dziedziny biznesu międzynarodowego prezentującą pojęcie dystansu psychicznego. Badania bezpośrednie zostały przeprowadzone techniką wywiadu telefonicznego na próbie 18 przedsiębiorstw zaangażowanych w proces internacjonalizacji. W wyniku przeprowadzenia badań pilotażowych opracowano ostateczną wersję projektu badań oraz skonstruowano ostateczną wersję kwestionariusza. Przyjęto, że badania bezpośrednie będą realizowane techniką wywiadu bezpośredniego na próbie 251 przedsiębiorstw. Kwestionariusz do badań bezpośrednich składa się głównie ze skal porządkowych pięcio- bądź siedmiostopniowych, w tym skali Likerta. Oryginalność prowadzonych badań polega na opracowaniu założeń badawczych, metod oraz narzędzi do pomiaru dystansu psychicznego między Polską a zagranicznymi rynkami ekspansji polskich przedsiębiorstw.
    Over the last few years, a number of publications have been devoted to the internationalization of Polish companies. An increasing interest in this problem has also been spurred by the transformation of the social and economic system in Poland and the Poland’s accession to the European Union. The article presents the pilot research results on the importance of psychic distance in the process of Polish companies’ internationalization. The whole research will be of quantitative nature and it will be conducted with the use of direct interview technique on the sample of 251 companies. It was decided that this technique will enable the best quality of research. The pilot research was conducted on the sample of 18 companies. Most of the managers agreed that psychic distance exists, however, it has small impact on the process of Polish companies internationalization. The respondents were asked about stimuli having impact on managerial perceptions of psychic distance. According to the majority of respondents, managerial perceptions of psychic distance depend on the international experience of managers, the knowledge of managers about international markets, the education of managers and the stability and changeability of the environment, in which the company operates. According to the managers, the most important factor having impact on decisions connected with internationalization are: cultural differences, political differences, geographic distance and the differences in economic systems The factors having impact on companies’ engagement in international markets are the level of democracy, the level of infrastructure development, different way of thinking of managers, and differences in time zones. According to the majority of respondents the managers’ perceptions about the significance of psychic distance in the process of companies internationalization depend on managers’ experience, managers’ knowledge about international markets, the level of managers’ education, the level of stability and changeability of the environment the company operates.

    Koncepcje zarządzania postulujące zmniejszenie negatywnego oddziaływania gospodarki na środowisko naturalne, takie jak społeczna odpowiedzialność biznesu czy zrównoważony rozwój, nie są już jedynie ideami kreującymi wizerunek organizacji, w coraz bardziej widoczny sposób wpływają bowiem na poziom jej konkurencyjności, atrakcyjności dla odbiorcy i wartości dla interesariuszy. Podmioty gospodarcze, które dostrzegają ten trend, szukają nowych, rozwiązań zarządczych, które pomogą skutecznie wdrożyć zasady zielonego ładu, a jednocześnie budować wartość organizacji. Jednym z takich rozwiązań jest omawiana w niniejszym artykule ekologistyka. Celem artykułu jest prezentacja wyników badań pilotażowych dotyczących poziomu zaawansowania ekologistyki w przedsiębiorstwach Euroregionu Nysa z wykorzystaniem autorskiego modelu dojrzałości ekologistycznej przedsiębiorstwa. Badanie pilotażowe miało na celu przygotowanie hipotez badawczych na potrzeby dalszych badań, jak również zweryfikowanie poprawności modelu teoretycznego i narzędzia badawczego pod względem merytorycznym i formalnym.
    Management concepts that postulate reducing the negative impact of the economy on the natural environment, such as corporate social responsibility or sustainable development, are no longer just ideas that create the image of an organization, as they increasingly affect the level of its competitiveness, attractiveness for the recipient and value for stakeholders. Business entities that notice this trend are looking for new management solutions that will help to effectively implement the principles of green order and at the same time build the value of the organization. One of such solutions is ecologistics, discussed in this article. The aim of the article is to present the results of pilot studies on the advancement level of ecologistics in the companies of the Euroregion Nysa, in which the original model of ecologistics maturity in an enterprise was used. The pilot study was aimed at preparing research hypotheses for further research, as well as verifying the correctness of the theoretical model and the research tool in terms of content and form.

    Internet development enabled e-learning to evolve and assimilate with traditional teaching techniques supporting academic learning. The ad-vantages of e-learning such as its flexibility, reduction of costs, self-paced learning modules or addressing various learning styles are being appreciated by more and more universities and colleges. In the theoretical framework the article discusses the basic assumptions of e-learning and organization of distant learning courses. It also presents e-learning from the perspective of English Studies Department students and their needs. Finally, the pilot study is described in which effectiveness of e-learning is examined. Two groups of students were under investigation; one attend-ing regular traditional lectures and the other participating in the e-learning programme. The findings show that e-learning is only slightly more effective than traditional way of teaching. Considering all the limitations of the study, the traditional and innovative ways of teaching deserve to be called equally legitimate.
