Opis:
As Atlantic Alliance aims to develop properly military capabilities, it has to pay special attention to military training, for only well-trained armed forces can take up the challenges and threats a state faces. The readiness level of the military is the major criterion for assessing the preparation of the armed forces to fulfill the objectives set for a state. Therefore, rational control and coordination of the servicemen’ training process is a very important factor in preparing contemporary Lithuanian Armed Forces. The Lithuanian Military Doctrine (2010) defines training principles of the Lithuanian Armed Forces and is a key document for preparing the military training strategy.

This article presents the opinions of Pomeranian Academy students about military training organized as a part of the Academic Legion and their subjective view on this training and the perspective of working in the army. In the study, special attention was paid to the strengths and weaknesses of the first edition of the theoretical program carried out at the Pomeranian University and practical carried out at the training center in Ustka. An additional motive for undertaking the study was the exploration of the university environment, especially the attempt to determine the level of preparation of students to perform roles in the army, which allowed to examine the feelings and attitudes of students to the program of the Academic Legion and develop six recommendations for its change. The research problem is the question: How do students evaluate the program of the Academic Legion? Due to the lack of research in this area, no hypothesis was adopted. The research method was a diagnostic survey conducted using a survey technique using the author’s own questionnaire.

Introduction. The preparation of Polish Air Force cadets for survival in isolation is a necessary element of their training, to demonstrate just how difficult can be the conditions they could encounter in a combat situation. Objective. The aim of the research was to assess the effect of long-term survival training on selected coordination motor skills in Air Force cadets. Materials and method. Fifteen air force cadets aged 19.6±0.3 years exercised for 36 hours during survival training without the possibility to sleep. They were examined 4 times: Day 1 – before effort (training), Day 2 – after 24 hours training, Day 3 – directly after 36 hours training, Day 4 – next day, after an all night rest. They were examined for shooting and reaction time, the ability to maintain body balance, running motor adjustment, handgrip force differentiation, and on Days 1 and 3, exercise capacity was evaluated with a 1 mile walking test. Results. The survival training resulted in significant decreases in maximum handgrip strength, corrected 50% max handgrip, maintenance of body balance and heart rate. No changes occurred in reaction time, running motor adjustment and shooting performance. Overnight rest did not result in recovery of any of the examined factors to the values observed on Day 1. Conclusion. Survival training combined with sleep deprivation mostly affected peripheral factors depending on strong action from both muscles and nervous system, whereas complex tasks involving short-term central alertness and moderate exertion were maintained. In order to improve performance, more endurance strength training, if possible combined with sleep deprivation, should be introduced in military training.

Bartłomiej Nowodworski’s project of military training for nobility In modern Polish Republic there appeared a number of projects postulating the creation of a new military training system. Many political writers urged for the need to open a school for knights. One of the most interesting projects for training and maintenance of cadets for the so-called foreign  contingent was designed by Bartłomiej Nowodworski, a famous knight of Malta and courtier of Sigismund III Vasa. Due to its interesting character the project is worth presenting to a wider circle of historians. Initially Nowodworski presented his concept during local gatherings of the nobility. In 1611 he presented his project during Warsaw Sejm. The project was undoubtedly inspired by the long and painstaking siege of Smolensk, in which Nowodwroski took an active part and during which he could see for himself inadequate preparation of Polish military forces for the execution of regular modern siege operations. The system of creating of advances for the Armed Forces of the Slovak republic from the citizens of the Slovak Republic has not been supplemented for more than 10 years. With regard to changes in the security environment as well as potential threats of a nonmilitary nature, the issue of deplorability of armed forces advances becomes a question of the most up-to-date. The fact that, for a long time, there was no exchange and, in particular, the training of advances, the back-ups of the armed forces became unusable for practical deployment. For these reasons, the political leadership of the state has also begun to re-educate and refill the process. The process of renewing training is linked to the adoption of the necessary legislative changes. As shown by the results of the first pilot training project on voluntary training and the forthcoming second year, in addition to an adequate incentive contribution, the issue of national pride and patriotism will also need to be addressed in the future.

Opis:
Z taką sytuacją mamy właśnie do czynienia w przypadku programu ochotniczego szkolenia wojskowego studentów „Legia Akademicka”, który z wieku niemowlęcego przechodzi w dorosłe życie.
Among the several dimensions of the professionalization of the Polish Armed Forces, the model of training and professional development can be considered as one of its most important effects. The process of theoretical and practical preparation of candidates for soldiers, regardless of their purpose (active service or personnel reserves), requires constant monitoring and adaptation. The quality and effectiveness of training are factors that should be the most important determinants of the entire process. For the training to be effective, it is not enough only to use the most modern military equipment, specialized trainers or simulators. Appropriate teaching methods and forms are also essential. Planning, process organization and skillful selection of program content are an important issues as well. In addition to the above-mentioned factors, material and technical supply also have a significant impact. Each new training project after conducting a pilot test should be gradually further optimized in order to obtain the maximum training effects while minimizing the expenditure. This is precisely the case with the "Legia Akademicka" program of voluntary military training of students, which passes from infancy into adulthood.

Civil defence education in Czechoslovakia was one of the elements of education and the creation of conditions for every citizen to be physically and mentally capable and willing to fulfil his or her duties related to homeland defence. The aim of the paper is to examine the basic approaches to the implementation of military defence training as one of the basic elements of civil defence education in Czechoslovakia in the period from 1918 to 1989. The historical-comparative analysis is used as a method for researching military defence training issues. This method is treated as a qualitative research tool. The individual elements that military defence training included, such as exercising in nature, field orientation practice, and marching exercises are characterized. In military defence training in Czechoslovakia, emphasis was simultaneously placed on enabling children to be in touch with nature, to toughen them up and to train their observation skills. The training was an organizational form of school civil defence education. Its main aim was to train and prepare individuals, as well as schools as wholes, for emergencies.

The Drawsko Military Training Ground is located in the area of the Drawienski National Park and the Drawsko Landscape Park. The Ground may be a serious source of natural environmental contamination with heavy metals. Researchers collected and examined water plant samples – Floating pondweed (Potamogeton natans) and Common reed (Phragmites australis). The samples were taken from places situated along the Drawa River (before and below the Military Training Ground). Selenium (Se) content in these plants was determined. The received results did not show essential difference of the metal content between plants from various places. The Training Ground does not cause contamination of the Drawa River with the investigated metal.
W obrębie Drawskiego Parku Krajobrazowego oraz Drawieńskiego Parku Narodowego zlokalizowany jest "Poligon drawski" - Centrum Szkoleniowe Wojsk Lądowych. Może on stanowić poważne źródło skażenia środowiska naturalnego parków metalami ciężkimi. Zebrano i przebadano próbki wybranych roślin wodnych, tj. rdestnicy pływającej (Potamogeton natans) i trzciny pospolitej (Phragmites australis).
