Opis:
The topic of the article is students’ and their parents’ digital competences development during the COVID- 19 outbreak in Poland and distance learning. The text show results of two longitudinal studies: a qualitative one conducted on a group of parents of school-age children (N = 89), and a quantitative one, with two research groups: parents of school-age children and students aged 15-18 (various N). Parents who were providing or supporting children’s education during distance learning experienced digital competencies development. The main change has occurred in four areas: (1) information and data exploitation, (2) communication and (less frequently) collaboration, (3) digital content creation, and (4) problem-solving. Learning supported with digital technologies in the group of students did not change significantly, the level of digital competences remained basically at the same level, which can be explained by the high initial level of expertise. The experiences of distance education and the absent areas of the development of digital competences indicate the directions that future, modern education may follow.

Objectives This cross-sectional questionnaire study was carried out at 4 open-pit mines in Finland, Norway, Russia and Sweden as part of the MineHealth project. The aim has been to compare the prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms between drivers of mining vehicles and non-drivers. Material and Methods The mine workers were asked whether they had suffered from any musculoskeletal symptoms during the previous 12 months in specified body regions, and to grade the severity of these symptoms during the past month. They were also asked about their daily driving of mining vehicles. Results The questionnaire was completed by 1323 workers (757 vehicle drivers) and the reported prevalence and severity of symptoms were highest for the lower back, followed by pain in the neck, shoulder and upper back. Drivers in the Nordic mines reported fewer symptoms than non-drivers, while for Russian mine workers the results were the opposite of that. The daily driving of mining vehicles had no significant association with the risk of symptoms. Female drivers indicated a higher prevalence of symptoms as compared to male drivers. Conclusions The study provided only weak support for the hypothesis that drivers of vehicles reported a higher prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms than non-vehicle drivers. There were marked differences in the prevalence of symptoms among workers in various enterprises, even though the nature of the job tasks was similar. Opis:
International legal practice provides that final delimitation should correspond to the notion of justice, but at the same time there are no explicit methods for delimitation of international maritime areas, the median line method being only one among others. In most cases the parties agree on points with lines derived from the median, or other types of lines guided only by the rationale of fair delimitation. The delimitation process in the Barents Sea concerns the issue of delimitation between the Arctic coastal states and the factors that should be included in the course of this process, as well the range of other international legal problems, such as the status of the Svalbard and its adjacent maritime areas. This article presents the background of the maritime boundary dispute between Norway and Russia and examines the 2010 Barents Sea Delimitation Treaty, discussing its key features in light of international maritime delimitation practice. The 2010 Russian-Norwegian Treaty defined the maritime borders of the Barents Sea between Norway and Russia in a compromise fashion, including solutions on fishery issues and maritime cooperation, but it did not resolve all the issues linked to the delimitation, especially status of the Svalbard maritime area.

This paper discusses the role of glacial shelf topography in the formation of general oceanological and biological mechanisms in the Barents Sea. Analysis of geomorphological data and oceanographic observations obtained on board MMBI research vessels in 2001–08 has shown that: fluxes of Atlantic-origin waters pass along glacial troughs; the inflow of Atlantic waters to the Barents Sea from the west increased from 2001t ill 2007, although this advection began to weaken in 2008; vertical and horizontal thermohaline gradients intensified during the investigated period; a warm period similar to that of the 1930s was observed in the Barents Sea at the beginning of the 21st century.

Opis:
Relationships between the zooplankton community andv arious environmental factors (salinity, temperature, sampling depth and bottom depth) were established in the European Arctic Marginal Ice Zone (MIZ) using multivariate statistics. Three main zooplankton communities were identified: an Atlantic Shallow Community (AtSC), an Arctic Shallow Community (ArSC) anda Deep Water Community (DWC). All species belonging to AtSC andArSC were pooledandtheir relative abundances in the total zooplankton calculated with respect to a particular layer (surface, midan dd eep strata), regions (the Barents Sea, Fram Strait andt he waters off northern Svalbard), years (1999 or 2003) and seasons (spring or autumn). Mapping of the proportions of Arctic andA tlantic species ledto the conclusion that zooplankton from the MIZs do not exactly follow complementary water masses, although the general pattern of AtSC and ArSC dominance accords with the physical oceanography of the study area (AtW and ArW respectively). The mid layer proved to be a better predictor of mesozooplankton distribution than the unstable conditions near the surface.

Opis:
Shallow Arctic banks have been observed to harbour rich communities of epifaunal organisms, but have not been well-studied with respect to composition or function due to sampling challenges. In order to determine how these banks function in the Barents Sea ecosystem, we used a combination of video and trawl/dredge sampling at several locations on a heavily trawled bank, Tromsøflaket — located at the southwestern entrance to the Barents Sea. We describe components of the benthic community, and calculate secondary production of dominant epifaunal organisms. Forty-six epibenthic taxa were identified, and sponges were a significant part of the surveyed benthic communities. There were differences in diversity and production among areas, mainly related to the intensity of trawling activities. Gamma was the most diverse and productive area, with highest species abundance and biomass. Trawled areas had considerably lower species numbers, and significant differences in epifaunal abundance and biomass were found between all trawled and untrawled areas. Trawling seems to have an impact on the sponge communities: mean individual poriferan biomass was higher in untrawled areas, and, although poriferans were observed in areas subjected to more intensive trawling, they were at least five times less frequent than in untrawled areas.

Opis:
The sea ice cover of the Greenland and Barents seas is characterised by great seasonal and interannual changeability which has influence on radiation and heat balance of that region. This changeability is directly observed in changes in atmospheric circulation and further noted in changes in meteorological elements (mainly in air temperature, cloudiness, precipitation and wind). Changes in weather conditions determine both the value of losses of glacier masses in a given balance year and the value of ice masses accumulation. This article tries to find the answer to a question if and to what extent the variability of the extent and rate of the Barents and Greenland seas ice formation is directly reflected in changeability of glaciers masses balance in the region of Spitsbergen. This research was based on the mass balance of two small glaciers located in the region of Kongsfjord, i.e. Austre Brogger and Midre Lovén. The mean monthly values of sea ice cover observed in the Greenland and Barents seas in the period 1972-1994 were used in this research (the values calculated on the basis of 1-week values of these seas ice cover taken from NCDC - Asheville). The values of winter, summer and net balances of the said glaciers were drawn from article by Lefauconnier et al. (1999). In addition, the correlation was examined between the balance Austre Brogger and Midre Lovén glaciers and the changeability of atmospheric circulation described by Niedźwiedź ?circulation types? (2001). The research made use of standard statistical analysis (correlation and regression analysis). Statistically significant correlations have been noted between the values of winter balances of both examined glaciers and the size of ice cover of the Barents and Greenland seas at the initial stage of its formation - in November (r ~ -0.55÷0.64, adj. R2 ~ 0.30÷0.35). The result of analysis of multiple regression indicated that the strongest correlation with ice cover of the Greenland Sea occurs in September, whereas in the Barents Sea in December (R ~ 0.70÷0.83). Changes in sea ice cover observed in that time explain 44% and 65% of changeability in winter balance of Austre Brogger and Midre Lovén glaciers, respectively. These results suggest that the process of heat transfer from the ocean to the atmosphere may by very intensive when the sea is merely covered with ice in the areas on the way of main directions of air mass advection. This will provide favourable condition for clear domination of sea air masses resulting in the increase in air temperature (Styszyńska 2000) and precipitation in the region of NW Spitsbergen. The summer balance of the examined glaciers is influenced by the changes in ice conditions only to a small extent. The only significant correlation with sea ice condition of the Greenland Sea was noted in August. Lack of the discussed correlation in summer is attributed to the influence of insolation and radiation factors whose importance increase during the polar day (as indicated in research by Lefauconnier et al. (1999)).

Opis:
Scolecodonts and conodonts are described from five samples of three cores from the Svalis Dome, central Barents Sea. The conodont species Mesogondolella rosenkrantzi and Neospathodus svalbardensis confirm latest Permian (Dzulfian) and earliest Triassic (Dienerian) ages for the investigated intervals. Correlation with adjacent conodont distribution indicates a shorter depositional gap in the late Permian than is evident on Svalbard. The conodont elements show little thermal alteration with CAI (colour alteration index) values between 1.0 and 1.5 indicating a maximum burial temperature of 50—90°C. The scolecodonts described herein have important evolutionary and distribution implications for polychaetes: the order Eunicida shows a richer diversification in the Permian than previously known; the family Paulinitidae survived at least until the Late Permian; the family Hartmaniellidae diversified already in the late Palaeozoic; some forms are considered as representatives of unknown species and genera; the order Phyllodocida originated already in the latest Palaeozoic.
Z rdzeni trzech wierceń wykonanych na wysadzie solnym Svalis na Morzu Barentsa opisano dobrze zachowane skolekodonty i konodonty. Konodonty Mesogondolella rosenkrantzi i Neospathodus svalbardensis potwierdzaja późnopermski (dżulf) i wczesnotriasowy (diener) wiek badanych sekwencji.
