Opis:
In training process of rail traffic manager (controller) using virtual reality technology, selection of activities among those assigned to a workplace and scenarios that should be taken in training is an important issue. The selection method that is based on performance variability of her/his activities has been proposed in the paper. This variability has been characterized by timing and precision. The traditional reliability and safety analysis methods are not sufficient when building the training program for traffic managers. In the paper the train controller work has been modelled using Functional Resonance Analysis Method (FRAM) that is system oriented approach. Scales of values of timing and precision that are train transport driven have been presented. They are different when comparing with typical timing and precision scales given in FRAM literature. In the paper the estimation of probabilities of occurring of values of timing and precision scales for these activities has been calculated as the mean from the values obtained by questionnaire done in traffic manager community or using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. In FRAM with AHP approaches presented in literature, AHP pairwise comparison is executed using natural numbers and their reciprocals what is typical in AHP method. In our paper the AHP is used for estimating the probabilities, so in pairwise comparing the rational numbers are applied, because natural numbers and their reciprocals would limit the set of values of probabilities. The activities and scenarios that the training should be concentrated on are selected from those with the greatest variability.

Purpose: The goal of the study was to examine project managers ability to apply different styles of leadership depending on the project situation. Design/methodology/approach: LEAD-Self questionnaires were used as the main research tool, which is based on the Model of Situational Leadership by P. Hersey and K. Blanchard. The tests were carried out in 12 production plants located in Poland, Italy, Spain, Turkey and China. The plants produce parts for household appliances, automotive and HVAC industries as well as intelligent power grids. 45 project managers participated in the study. Findings: Research results indicate that project managers have a wide range of styles, yet their adaptability is low and moderate level. None of the surveyed project managers has a high level of adaptation. This means that the project managers participating in the study use only the basic leadership style and only occasionally use supporting styles. Practical implications: Implications for organizations and project managers are given in the publication. The most important of them is training project managers in the field of situational leadership model and making managers aware of the strengths and weaknesses of each style, so that they are able to adapt them to the situation and to be ready to act by individual team members. Originality/value: The publication refers to the issue of situational leadership in the context of project management, which broadens the knowledge of human resource management in project management, and highlights the importance of adapting the leadership style of a project manager to a specific situation. The publication can be valuable for organizations implementing industrial projects and for project managers themselves.

The article is devoted to analyzing the need for managers to spend money on developing technological support for organizations to achieve strategic goals. The impact of technologies in various sectors of organizations' activity on the effectiveness of organizational systems is considered. The work examines the activity of Ukrainian profitable and non-profit organizations on the influence of the level of technologicalization of organizational processes on increasing the level of profit and the social effect of activity. The study considered the statistical data of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine for 2018, 2019, and 2021 according to the indicators Number of enterprises that have access to the internet and the number of employed who have access to the internet and Number of employed who have access to the internet. The given statistical data were quantitatively processed (summarized and compared). With the help of theoretical research methods (deduction and analysis) of the obtained results, it was found that the organization's technological development helps to increase the organization's profitability and the non-profit organization's social effect. The practical value of the article lies in the visual representation of the dependence between the necessity of spending on the technological development of managers of profitable and non-profit organizations and the effectiveness of these organizations.

Purpose: This paper aims at providing comparative analysis of the influence of cultural determinants on the managers’ perceptions of human resources management practices, as a factor conditioning application of evidence-based management. Design/methodology/approach: This article presents the study of 121 managers in Poland, on their perception of HRM practices and analyses the consistency of findings with the Hofstede cultural dimensions model. Structured questionnaire developed by Rynes et al. (2002) in the US and used by Tenhiälä et al. (2016) in Finland, Spain and South Korea including 34 items on management practices, employment practices, training and development, staffing and compensation and benefits have been used. Comparative analysis of managers’ perceptions in 5 countries have been performed, and analysed from the perspective of cultural determinants. Findings: Significant differences among analysed countries have been noted in relation to managers’ perceptions of HRM practices, interpreted using the Hofstede’s model of cultural determinants. Five dimensions have been identifies as the most likely determinant of observable differences. Cultural factors have been found to explain perceptions of HRM practices in Poland, as well as in countries with both similar cultural dimensions profiles or shared characteristics. Research limitations/implications: The empirical part – questionnnaire in Poland – was performed during Covid-19 pandemic, which might have affected the perceptions of managers on what works in relation to HRM practices, as well as the external conditions under which the research was performed changed significantly over the course of last two years. Practical implications: Findings from the managers’ survey have been analysed from the perspective of cultural determinants, therefore making a link between perceptions and measurable and well defined variables of cultural origin, as represented by Hofstede’s dimensions. This implies, that more attention should be paid to culturally-grounded differences in cases where more evidence-based practices are intended to be implemented in organisations. Originality/Value: Paper presents original research findings, by providing comparative evidence on the managers’ perceptions of HRM practices in cross-cultural context, with application of the Hofstede cultural dimensions model.

Objectives There is a need for up-to-date research on health-care and social managers’ work well-being. The purpose was to develop a questionnaire for measuring health-care and social managers’ subjective work well-being and to determine whether their background factors are connected to their work well-being. Material and Methods The authors developed a questionnaire based on their previous health-care and social managers’ work well-being framework. It covers 5 separate categories: 1) individual factors, 2) social factors, 3) professional support from one’s own manager, 4) organizational factors, and 5) work-related factors. Using statistical methods, the authors examined the questionnaire’s internal validity, its fit with the framework, and the connections between several background factors and work well-being. The survey data (N = 281) were collected from South Osthrobothnia and Central Osthrobothnia in Finland. Results The questionnaire’s internal validity was good, and it fit rather well with the authors’ previous framework. Managers’ work well-being was highest for the category of “professional support from one’s own manager” and lowest for “organizational factors.” The authors found connections between different categories of work well-being and a) years of managerial experience, b) level of management, and c) occupational group. Conclusions The questionnaire gives a holistic view of managers’ work well-being and is suit- able for measuring work well-being in the social- and health-care context. An examination showed that there is a need to improve the individual situations of the social- and health-care managers. The questionnaire can be used to assess managers’ work well-being and to build a knowledge base for developing organizational policies.

The article substantiates the role of improving the managerial competence of the education manager in ensuring the effectiveness of the organization of the educational process. The purpose of the article is to determine the role and importance of managerial competence of the education manager in ensuring the effectiveness of the organization of the educational process. In the process of research, the following methods were used: theoretical analysis – to determine the main conceptual approaches to the development of managerial competence and its role in the organization of the educational process; structuring – in order to identify and characterize the components of management activities; generalization – to formulate conclusions on the pedagogical conditions for the development of managerial competence of the education manager. The managerial competence in the structure of professional activity of the manager of education as possession by the expert of scientifically substantiated means of the decision of administrative problems is defined, the main component of which is the possession of cultural means of identifying and solving organizational and managerial problems. Systematized universal functions (development and management decision making [planning], organization of certain tasks, adjustments, accounting and control) and components of managerial activity (diagnostic, prognostic, projective, organizational, communicative, motivational, emotional-volitional, comparative-evaluative) have been outlined. The pedagogical conditions for the development of managerial competence of education managers are identified: the relationship between the content of improving the management training of education managers with the peculiarities of the implementation of regional educational policy; remote support of the educational process aimed at the development of managerial competence, in which purposeful indirect or partially indirect interaction between the education manager and staff is carried out regardless of their location; building individual educational direction of students, which is carried out on the basis of personality-oriented approach, as well as taking into account professional difficulties and professional needs. 
Celem artykułu jest określenie roli i znaczenia kompetencji zarządczych menedżera oświaty w skutecznej organizacji procesu edukacyjnego. W procesie badawczym zastosowano następujące metody badań naukowych: analizę teoretyczną w celu określenia głównych podejść koncepcyjnych do rozwoju kompetencji menedżerskich i jej roli w organizacji procesu edukacyjnego; strukturyzację w celu zidentyfikowania i scharakteryzowania składowych działań zarządczych; uogólnienie, czyli formułowanie wniosków dotyczących pedagogicznych uwarunkowań rozwoju kompetencji zarządczych menedżera oświaty. Usystematyzowano funkcje uniwersalne (rozwój i podejmowanie decyzji/planowanie, organizacja określonych zadań, korekty, księgowość i kontrola) oraz komponenty zarządzania (diagnostyczne, prognostyczne, projekcyjne, organizacyjne, komunikacyjno-motywacyjne, emocjonalno-wolicjonalne, porównawczo-ewaluacyjne). Zidentyfikowano pedagogiczne uwarunkowania rozwoju kompetencji zarządczych menedżerów oświaty: związek między treścią doskonalenia szkolenia menedżerskiego kierowników oświaty a specyfiką realizacji regionalnej polityki edukacyjnej; zdalne wspomaganie procesu edukacyjnego nastawionego na rozwój kompetencji zarządczych, w którym dokonywana jest celowa pośrednia lub częściowo pośrednia interakcja między menedżerem oświaty a kadrą niezależnie od ich lokalizacji; budowanie indywidualnych trajektorii edukacyjnych uczniów, które realizowane są w oparciu o podejście osobowościowe, a także uwzględniające trudności i potrzeby zawodowe.

Research background: According to the EU agenda, CSR should be considered an integral element of the current organizational strategy, including SMEs. While the debate continues about the optimal approach for successful CSR adaptation in SME, yet there is a need to shed light on the impact of owner-manager?s demographics on CSR practices. Purpose of the article: The paper aims to examine whether owner-manager?s demographics (age, gender, education) matter for the implementation of CSR or not. Methods: The study is based on a questionnaire filled in by owner-managers of SMEs operating in Czechia (454) and Slovakia (368). Factor analysis and nonparametric methods are used to test the hypotheses. Findings & value added: This study shows that the relationships between CSR and owner-manager?s demographics are not alike between Slovakia and Czechia. Compared to owners, the evidence shows that the Czech managers are more oriented toward the CSR practices, while in Slovakia there is no difference. Such finding can be explained by Hofstede culture difference. In addition, analysis demonstrates that female Slovaks are more oriented to CSR than men, while it is not true in Czechia. Moreover, Czech individuals who graduated in the same field as their business are more oriented to the CSR, whereas in Slovakia this is not. In addition, young and old Slovak entrepreneurs are more oriented to the CSR than those 35-55 years old, manifesting a U-shape type of relationship. The originality of this work is manifested by the fact that it enriches the literature since it is among the first studies to analyze the relationships between owner-manager?s demographics and CSR in the SME segment for Czechia and Slovakia.

Introduction/background: The issue of emotional intelligence is increasingly being addressed in terms of its role and impact on the management of organisations, particularly human resource management. The literature on the subject views its role in the context of effective management and development of organisations, as well as success. It is therefore of interest not only to researchers, but also to practitioners. Aim of the paper: The main aim of the paper is to identify the role of emotional intelligence in the aspect of organisational management and to evaluate its level within the framework of the research conducted. Materials and methods: The study was conducted in IT companies using a survey method. A questionnaire assessing the level of emotional intelligence of managers was used in the study. A five-point Likert scale was used in the questionnaire. Results and conclusions: The analysis carried out showed the important role of emotional intelligence and its impact on building positive interpersonal relations in the workplace. The research conducted in IT companies indicates a relatively high level of emotional intelligence among managers.

W artykule przedstawiono zarys stanu prawnego, który precyzuje kwestie organizacji akcji i działań ratowniczych, usytuowania prawnego osób wstępujących w funkcję kierującego akcją ratowniczą (KAR) lub innym działaniem ratowniczym (KDR), ukazując obszary wymagające doprecyzowania i uszczegółowienia w celu zapewnienia oczekiwanej jakości realizowanych zadań. Wskazano również sposób precyzowania okresu pełnienia funkcji kierującego działaniem ratowniczym w danym zdarzeniu, ukazując różnicę stanu prawnego pomiędzy dowódcą danego pododdziału a kierującym konkretnym działaniem ratowniczym. Autorzy ukazali miejsca potencjalnego wystąpienia zwiększonego ryzyka decyzyjnego kierujących akcją lub innym działaniem ratowniczym, wynikające z niedookreślonych obszarów regulacji prawnych w rozpatrywanym zakresie, ukazując jednocześnie możliwości wdrożenia rozwiązań dla poszczególnych sytuacji.
The material presents an outline of the applicable legal status intended to help clarify issues related to organisation of rescue actions and activities, legal position of persons acting as commanders of a rescue action or other types of rescue actions, pointing to areas that require clarification and detailing in order to ensure the expected quality of tasks performed. The way of specifying the period of performing the function of a commander of rescue action in a given incident has also been indicated, showing the difference in legal status between the commander of a given subdivision and the commander of a given rescue action. The authors have identified places of potential occurrence of an increased decision-making risk for persons in charge of an action or other types of rescue activities which could arise from insufficient definition of certain areas of legal regulations in the field under consideration, showing at the same time possibilities of implementing solutions for particular situations.

Subject and purpose of work: The aim of the article is to organize the creativity of the researchers in the field of leadership. The phenomenon of leadership is present in all the organizations and structures, both official and informal. Materials and methods: For the preparation of the article, scientific publications published in the 21st century and the last quarter of the 20th century were analyzed. Results: An effective leader can build a team or institution from scratch, and an ineffective leader can lead to its collapse. As leaders vary, researchers have proposed several different typologies of leaders. Conclusions: The scientific achievements so far developed by independent researchers in the analyzed area over the last 50 years enable effective verification of the activities of team managers. In the future, research should be undertaken to determine the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the way in which leadership functions are carried out.

Pierwsza część stanowi skrótowe nakreślenie postaci menadżera z uwypukleniem jego cech i umiejętności. W drugiej części autor skupia się na istocie pracy organisty w parafii w świetle obowiązujących przepisów prawa kościelnego. W dalszej części artykułu dzieli się doświadczeniem w organizacji imprez muzycznych, które zaistniały wskutek wzorowo prowadzonej współpracy między parafią i urzędem miasta.
The article presents the experience of the author, long-time organist, in the field of promotion of musical culture in the local community of the town Chełmża. The first part is a brief outline of the character of the manager with highlighting his skills. In the second part the author focuses on the essence of the organist’s work in the parish in the light of the existing church law. In the next part of the article shares his experience in organizing musical events, which occurred as a result of exemplary cooperation between the parish and city officials.

Introduction/background: Project managers have a significant responsibility both for the content of the project and for the personnel they manage. However, not everyone can become a Project Manager, because in addition to the knowledge gained through numerous courses and trainings, this person should have appropriate competences that cannot be acquired solely through learning. Aim of the paper: The aim of the study was to examine the development paths of the project manager and make an attempt to determine the most effective way to acquire competences in the field of project management. Materials and methods: The research was carried out in the following steps: an analysis of the literature was performed in the field of project managers' competences, their scope, significance and possibilities of confirmation, e.g. through certification. Afterwards, a survey was conducted among a group of professional project managers. Results and conclusions: The result of the work is an indication of which education paths related to the project management process are useful and enable the preparation of people to become project managers.

Opis:
Purpose: In the literature relatively little attention is paid to the project manager’s background, i.e., to the importance of whether the project manager is a line manager, a line employee of the organisation in question who is no one’s supervisor or whether the project manager is involved solely in project management. The purpose of this paper is to answer the question of how the type of project manager is related to project success. Design/methodology/approach: The research hypothesis was formulated and the results of the empirical studies were presented. The empirical verification of the research hypothesis was accomplished through survey research in Europe and USA. Findings: Based on the empirical data obtained, it was concluded that in terms of all three project parameters (scope, time and cost), the project manager, who is also a line manager, was the most successful. The empirical research indicated a possible relationship between project manager type and project success. Research limitations/implications: In the analysis, it should be borne in mind that there are other several internal and external factors responsible for potential problems in meeting the project scope, schedule and budget. Practical implications: Project management by line managers can be a sound basis for the interaction of processes and projects, manifesting itself, for example, in the transfer of knowledge between processes and projects during the activity of solving problems, especially those lying at the interface of one type of activity and another. Originality/value: The results obtained should draw attention to the need to complement previous research characterising the ideal or effective project manager with a new variable, the type of project manager.

The multiplicity and the inconsistency of regulations, the number of permits and opinions of various authorities that the investor must obtain, result in a lengthy investment process with a risk of failure. The aim of this article is to present the law in force in Poland regarding the investment process in the construction industry.

The analysis of scientific approaches to understanding the psychological characteris-tics of the role of the management team is important in the context of ensuring the organizational development of educational institutions. The transformational changes taking place in education today require the introduction of new approaches to the process of managing educational organizations. The practical solution to the problem of forming management teams in educational organizations involves determining and understanding the importance of systematic psychological training of education managers to form professional management teams. The article reveals the psychological features of innovative management styles in managers of educational organizations, selected by the criterion of «Teamwork in the organization». Іt is especially important in educational organizations to form not only a teaching staff, but a team where teachers set an example not by words but by their own actions: teach them to be leaders, develop their various social competencies, and most importantly – teach by personal example. Аllowed us to identify innovative management styles in managers of educational organizations, which are selected by the criteria of «Teamwork in the organization» and provide the following skills: orientation of managers of educational organizations on teamwork based on clearly defined roles, willingness to internally accept organizational goals and objectives; to organize joint activities to address management issues, willingness and skills of constructive communication, dialogue and interaction with different categories of people. Іdentified traditional («fear of poverty», «authority – conquest», «rest home») and innovative («organization», «team») management styles in managers of educational organizations on the indicator «of orientation of managers to teamwork». Highlights the main reasons for managers to avoid team building. Increasing the attention of psychologists to the problem of psychological preparation of managers of educational organizations.
