Kant is not generally recognised to be an Aristotelian hylomorphic Philosopher because of his extension of logic into Philosophical Psychology in the form of Transcendental Logic. This extension is a natural articulation of hylomorphic metaphysics. Aristotle’s 4 kinds of change, 3 principles, and 4 “causes” are all transformed into the Kantian system of categories of judgement and also transposed into the faculties of sensibility, understanding, and reason. The principles of noncontradiction and sufficient reason obviously have origins in Aristotelian logic and Metaphysics. Freud claims that he is writing the Psychology that Kant would have written had he written subsequent to the “divorce” between Philosophy and Psychology in 1870 but it is clear that Freud too must be considered a hylomorphic Psychologist. This latter claim must be true if it is the case that Kant can be regarded, a hylomorphic Philosopher. Freud regards Consciousness and psychological residues (rituals) that we find in institutions as vicissitudes of Instinct. Instinct is here of course a philosophical concept possessing an aim, an object, a bodily source and a demand for motor activity. Early vicissitudes of instincts are narcissistically based and give rise the genesis of a strong ego under favourable circumstances. Freudian theory correctly interpreted ought to give rise to ethical theory of the type we find in Kant. This is a requirement for theories that we find in the arena of transcendental psychology.

Opis:
Starch from kudzu roots (Pueraria lobata) was isolated, characterized and compared with commercial available starch products such as potato, corn and wheat. The yield of starch from kudzu roots ranged from 65 to 162 g starch/kg depending on the age of the root. The examined diameters of kudzu starch granules showed that about 80% had an average diameter less than 32 µm. The fat and protein contents of the starch were about 0.15 and 0.08%, respectively. The HPLC analysis of enzymatic hydrolysate (alpha-amylase) of the starch showed that it contained low amount of reducing sugars, and the predominate carbohydrate was dextrin (Gn=45.6%). The viscosity obtained was 412 BU, being two-fold lower than the viscosity of both potato and corn starches, and somewhat closer to the viscosity of wheat starch. In addition, kudzu starch showed different physico-chemical properties compared to starches from other sources. These features could offer a novel application of this starch in carbohydrate processing industries.
Wyizolowaną z korzeni kudzu (Pueraria lobata) skrobię scharakteryzowano pod względem cech fizyko-chemicznych. Korzenie kudzu zbierane w okresie czterech miesięcy (wrzesień-grudzień, 1991) w północno-zachodniej Alabamie (USA) zawierały 65-162 g skrobi/kg. Wielkość ziaren skrobi została określona przy użyciu skaningowego fotosedymentografu. Około 80% ziaren skrobi miało średnicę niższą niż 32 µm. Oznaczono również zawartość tłuszczu i białka w skrobi. Zawartość tłuszczu w skrobi kudzu wynosiła 0,15%, a białka 0,08%. Enzymatyczna hydroliza skrobi i analiza HPLC uzyskanych cukrów pozwoliły określić skład węglowodanowy. W wyniku hydrolizy enzymatycznej skrobi kudzu uzyskano mniejsze ilości cukrów prostych, natomiast większość hydrolizatu stanowiły dekstryny (Gn=45,6%). Pomiar lepkości kleików skrobiowych przeprowadzono przy użyciu wiskozygrafu Brabensera. Lepkość skrobi kudzu (dochodzi do 412 j.B) jest znacznie niższa niż skrobi ziemniaczanej i kukurydzianej, zbliżona choć nieznacznie wyższa od pszennej. Analiza termicznego rozkładu skrobi (TG, DTG, DTA) została przeprowadzona przy użyciu aparatu Metleťa. Odmienne cechy fizyko-chemiczne skrobi kudzu w porównaniu z tradycyjnymi surowcami pozwalają przewidzieć możliwości szerszego jej wykorzystania w przetwórstwie węglowodanów. Skrobia kudzu importowana do USA z Japonii ma wartość 10 razy wyższą niż skrobia kukurydziana. Wykorzystanie lokalnych zasobów surowcowych Pueraria lobata pozwoli zaktywizować zaniedbane rejony rolnicze Alabamy i uzyskać produkt skrobiowy mający zastosowanie spożywcze i farmaceutyczne.

The purpose of this work was to analyze the influence of climatic variability of wind waves and swell parameters in the coastal zone on the sediment transport and to assess the contribution of the swell to the formation of alongshore fluxes. The object of research is the Anapa bay-bar (the Black Sea). Mathematical modeling has shown that in the Anapa bay-bar area the average annual wind waves and swell powers have significant interannual variability. For the period from 1979 to 2017, in the southern part of the bay-bar, there was a statistically significant decrease in the share of swell in the alongshore transport, directed from NW to SE, in the central part – an increase in the contribution of swell to the total sediment flow from SE to NW, in the northern part – probable increase in flows to NW and decrease – to SE. Such a dynamic is consistent, in general, with experimental observations of the processes of erosion and accumulation of beach-forming material along the Anapa bay-bar coastline. A separate description of the bottom sediment fluxes under the influence of wind waves and swell made it possible to explain the fluctuations of the coastline over a climatic period.

In continuation of our previous work, the current study explores an environmentally benign approach for the control of Phenacoccus solenopsis Tinsley (Hemiptera: Pseudococcidae) using a synergistic combination of α,bT-unsaturated carbonyl compounds (1a-1e; 2a-2i) and the natural products, neem oil (N1) and nicotinic acid (N2). Our approach also evaluates the insecticidal activity of 3-(5-chloro-1,3-diaryl-1H-pyrazol-4-yl)-1-arylprop-2-en-1-one(2j-2o) consisting of bioactive moieties, viz., chalcone and pyrazole, in a single molecular structure. Compounds 2l and 2o exhibited maximum activity with 58% and 50 % of mortality, respectively, under laboratory conditions. Among various test combinations, 2a-N2 showed maximum insecticidal activity, with 54% mortality, comparable to that of the most active newly synthesized compound, 2l, followed by 1c-N1 and 2g-N2 with 52% mortality. The compound 2a was also found to be non-toxic to potato tuber used as a plant substrate in the current investigation.

Forecasting the coastal zone development under possible climatic changes and technogenic impact is an extremely important task. This forecasting is based on our understanding of the mechanism of the hydrodynamic processes impact on the coastal zone. The goal of this work is to describe the hydrodynamic conditions (currents, sea level, surface waves) of coastal waters and to assess the influence of hydrodynamic parameters on the general dynamics of the beach. The object of this study is a part of the southern coastal zone of the Gulf of Finland (Baltic Sea). The method of research is a full-scale experiment and mathematical modeling. The initial data for the analysis are climatic characteristics of the hydrodynamic regime of the sea (velocity and direction of currents, sea level, integral parameters of wind seas and swell), as well as interannual variations in the position of the coastline in the region of the Izhora village in the eastern part of the Gulf of Finland. Interannual variations in hydrodynamic parameters and volumes of bottom material transported under the influence of wind seas and swell were estimated. Main conclusion: swell waves determine the general background in the patterns of the bottom material transport, and the contribution of wind seas is in the formation of beach properties, namely, the accumulation or decrease of beach material

This paper attempts to compile available and unpublished data on the macromycetes of the Pirin Mts. The total number of currently known species is 350, including 34 ascomycetes and 316 basidiomycetes. Among them, 60 species are reported for the first time for the Pirin Mts, including Inocybe pisciodora which is a new record for Bulgaria.The species composition, ecological-trophic structure, and economically important edible fungi are briefly discussed. A list of 25 macroscopic fungi of conservation significance for the mycota of this mountain, evaluated with the recent IUCN criteria, is given, including 4 Critically Endangered, 9 Endangered, 7 Vulnerable, and 5 Near Threatened species.

Opis:
European bison (Bison bonasus) from two different areas of Eastern Poland showing gross pathology possibly associated with mycoplasma infections were tested for ruminant Mycoplasma species using serological and molecular methods. Fifty-five samples, blood or tissue were collected from 28 animals during 2013-2014. Six sera were positive for Mycoplasma bovis. The ELISA and complement fixation test for Mycoplasma mycoides subsp. mycoides gave a few weak reactions, but were negative by immunoblotting and molecular methods.

This study delineates the role of small and medium river inputs, Low Saline Plume Advection (LSPA) and eddies in hydrography alteration and Chlorophyll a (Chl. a) in the Western Bay of Bengal. Samples were collected across five transects viz: Hooghly (HO), Mahanadi (MN), Rushikulya (RK), Visakhapatnam (VSKP) and Godavari (GD) during Fall Intermonsoon. Each transect consists of 7 or 8 locations from inshore to offshore. LSPA propagates southward concordance with the East India Coastal Current (EICC) and its southward flow strengthened by a cold-core eddy. LSPA results in the intermittent low salinity in the cross-shore section of HO, MN and RK. Upper layer Chl. a is 2—3 folds higher in inshore and in LSP-influenced locations than in its adjacent stations. The present study identified Double Chlorophyll a Maxima (DoCM) in LSPA-influenced slope regions of MN and RK. DoCM is less known in the BoB. DoCM has both the Surface Chl. a Maxima (SCM) and Subsurface Chl. a Maxima (SSCM). SSCM layer is relatively shallow and intense in slope and offshore regions of MN and RK due to their closeness with cold-core eddy. The present study highlights that freshwater discharge from small and medium rivers impacts hydrobiology around 10—50 km from the shore depends on the magnitude of river influx. LSPA is away from the local inputs and impacts hydrobiology (>500 km) along the path. EICC and eddies together regulated the direction of LSPA. Existing eddies nature alters vertical hydrobiology in slope and offshore regions.

Opis:
The circulation of Atlantic water along the European continental slope, in particular the inflow into the North Sea, influences North Sea water characteristics with consequent changes in the environment affecting plankton community dynamics. The long-term effect of fluctuating oceanographic conditions on the North Sea pelagic ecosystem is assessed. It is shown that (i) there are similar regime shifts in the inflow through the northern North Sea and in Sea Surface Temperature, (ii) long-term phytoplankton trends are influenced by the inflow only in some North Sea regions, and (iii) the spatial variability in chemicophysical and biological parameters highlight the influence of smaller scale processes.
