Opis:
The topic of brownfield regeneration has been the focus of planning debate for years. However, the aspect of institutional cooperation and strengthening the institutional capacity in order to cope with a complex task of brownfield regeneration is considered a challenge. This is particularly true for the post-socialist countries and, hence, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Serbia are chosen as the case studies of this research. By implementing a concise survey of both the institutions and policies related to the topic of brownfield regeneration in the selected countries, the research aims at determining the form, extent and nature of collaboration between different sectors, disciplines, and institutions. Based on such insights, it is finally possible to provide the recommendations for more effective institutional design within specific political and socio-economic context.

Opis:
As several Western Balkans countries aspire to become members of the European Union (EU) in the (near) future, it is interesting to explore to what extent EU territorial trends are adopted in both the official national regulations and spatial planning practice. To do so, we: 1) screen EU territorial policies to elucidate the trends and principles of territorial development, 2) analyse the contents of spatial plans in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and 3) compare the practical application of the principles such as decentralisation, diffusion of power, subsidiarity, multi-actorship, synergy, transparency, citizen participation, coordinated action (among various disciplinary bodies), and holistic strategies. The findings show the ineffectiveness of declaratively adopted EU territorial trends against place-based territorial policy approaches.

Opis:
The purpose of this paper was to assess the possibility of using modern technologies, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), to study the evacuation of passengers from ships. The evacuation of passengers from ships is usually studied from post-accident reports, laboratory or field experiments, and/or numerical modelling. Nowadays, with the rapid development of computer resources and wearable technology, evacuation can also be studied using VR or AR. The methods used in this paper for such assessments included a literature review (tools like Web of Science, Scopus, and Google Scholar indexing platforms) and comparative strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats (SWOT) analysis. The results demonstrated the great potential for the implementation of VR and AR technologies within the shipping industry, similar to how they have already found applications in the research of pedestrian evacuation from buildings or open spaces. Finally, recommendations for their use in ship passenger evacuation are presented.

Opis:
The wastes which infiltrate into the environment are created from unexpended materials and products. The environment can manage a great amount of waste, but this process requires time. Nature always attempts to achieve the balance . However, degradation of some materials in nature takes about 1000 years, which is a very long period of time in terms of the length of a human life, also in view of the rising trend of wastes generation. The need for appropriate waste management is steadily rising, as does the production of wastes and our living standards. Incorrect waste management has a negative impact on all components of the environment. Waste management, their processing and recycling additionally contribute to human health protection and preservation of a healthy environment. Another benefit is in the form of raw materials extraction, the global supplies of which are constantly reducing. One of the possible ways of effective waste management is improving environmental awareness but the science brings different ways of solution, for example in connection with waste management and simulation of wastes flow. The paper presents one of this ways by help with the creation of centralized collection point of wastes using a universal model which is usable for different countries with the problem of wastes and waste management.
