Podręcznik Schlaga wyróżnia się spośród współczesnych mu gramatyk poprzez zamierzoną przez autora rezygnację z terminologii gramatycznej oraz odejście od schematu opisu języka przejętego z tradycji łacińskiej. Artykuł przedstawia, na czym polega nowatorstwo opisu systemu języka zaproponowanego przez Schlaga oraz w jakim stopniu zrealizował autor zamiar odrzucenia terminologii.
    The paper discusses Polnische Sprach⸗Kunst (1734), a grammar of Polish written by Jerzy Schlag, a German who taught Polish in Silesia. Schlag’s handbook stands out among the grammars of the time: the author has intentionally foregone grammar terminology and departed from the traditional Latin-based language description. The article presents Schlag’s innovative description of the language system, and verifies the extent to which the author actually managed to follow his intention of foregoing grammar terminology.

    Opis:
    The aim of this paper is to present the online dictionary “Słownik historyczny terminów gramatycznych” that is currently being compiled by scholars from the University of Warsaw as well as to describe the research opportunities given by this dictionary. The source material for this dictionary consists of orthography books, grammar books and textbooks for learning Polish written in Polish and in other languages between the 1400s and the 1900s. Thanks to such a long time span considered not only can one observe a more than 500-year tradition of grammar writing but also the historical development of grammar terminology in the national languages. This paper describes this process on the example of the terms ortografia (orthography), etymologia (etymology), syntaxis (syntax), prozodia (prosody), frazeologia (phraseology).

    This paper discusses the history of the first critical edition of the Hildebrandslied. The sole extant version of the famous Old High German epic, preserved only in fragments, was copied on the first and the last page of a codex dated to the 8th/9th c. and written in Fulda. The first scholarly edition of the Hildebrandslied was published in 1812 by the Grimm brothers who were also the first to recognize the poem’s alliterative verse form.

    The subject of this article is the Przewodnik do Języká Polʃkiego [Guide to the Polish Language] by Michał Kuś published in 1646. This guide is made up of two parts - an extensive dictionary and a grammar - a course book for learning Polish that is more than a dozen pages long. The article's introduction brings to light the silhouette of the author of Przewodnik and describes the structure of his work. In further paragraphs the authors focus on issues concerning the seventeenth-century Polish spelling. The article presents the most typical and interesting features of spelling used in the guide, cotrasts them with the view and recommendations of grammarians conteporary to Kuś, and compares the features with the spelling characteristics of the authors of several other seventeenth-century Polish-German and German-Polish dictionaries.

    Der vorliegende Band umfasst Beiträge des 2. Internationalen Workshops zu Tendenzen in der deutschen Wortbildung, der am 27. April 2017 an der Warschauer Universität durchgeführt wurde. Das Ziel des Workshops war es, einen wissenschaftlichen Rahmen für die Kooperation zwischen an mehrdimensionalen Wortbildungsfragen interessierten angehenden und etablierten Sprachwissenschaftlern zu schaffen, um einerseits bisher vernachlässigte, auch in Vergessenheit geratene Aspekte der Erforschung der historischen deutschen Wortbildung zu behandeln, andererseits gegenwärtigen aus wortbildungstheoretischer Sicht relevanten sprachlichen Praktiken nachzugehen. Die Kooperation soll auch die Diskussion und Reflexion über den Stand der Wortbildungsforschung sowie den Austausch von Erfahrungen und Positionen zu aktuellen synchronen und diachronen Untersuchungen im Bereich der Wortbildung vorantreiben.
    Niniejszy tom zawiera teksty zaprezentowane w trakcie 2. Międzynarodowych Warsztatów Słowotwórczych dotyczących różnych tendencji rozwojowych w niemieckim słowotwórstwie, które odbyły się na Uniwersytecie Warszawskim w 2017 roku. Celem warsztatów było stworzenie ram naukowej współpracy zarówno młodych jak i doświadczonych językoznawców zainteresowanych różnymi aspektami słowotwórstwa, promowanie dyskusji i refleksji nad stanem badań w zakresie słowotwórstwa oraz wymiana doświadczeń i poglądów na temat prowadzonych badań synchronicznych i diachronicznych. Teksty zebrane w tomie dotyczą częściowo zaniedbanych i zapomnianych historycznych aspektów niemieckiego słowotwórstwa, a także omawiają aktualne zjawiska językowe, istotne z punktu widzenia teorii słowotwórczych.
    This volume contains contributions to the 2. International Workshop on Trends in German Word Formation, which was held at the University of Warsaw on the 27. April 2017. The workshop aimed to create a scientific framework for cooperation between prospective and established linguists interested in multidimensional questions of word formation. The cooperation was also intended to promote discussion and reflection on the state of word formation research, and to exchange experiences and views on the word formation synchronic and diachronic studies conducted in the field. The texts gathered in the volume address some neglected and forgotten aspects of historical German word formation and on the other hand they investigate current linguistic phenomena, relevant for the word formation theory.

    Introduction: Advances in computer image analysis have enabled the use of new functional imaging methods in the diagnosis of laryngeal diseases. Particularly interesting techniques of dynamic laryngeal imaging involve High Speed Videoendoscopy (HSV). This still-developed technique allows to overcome the limitations of laryngovideostroboscopy (LVS) and a more detailed analysis of the glottal function based on the image of the actual vibrations of the vocal folds. It also enables the determination of objective coefficients parameterizing phonatory vibrations of the vocal folds. Aim: The aim of this pilot study was to evaluate the use of a high-speed videoendoscopy set with laser illumination for the diagnosis of glottic pathology in ENT practice. Material and methods: The study included 40 patients who underwent LVS followed by HSV. The modern HSV examination kit – Advanced Larynx Imager System (ALIS), used for the first time in a clinical setting in Poland, is characterized by significantly improved, compared to the previously used high-speed cameras, operational parameters – a light head, the possibility of continuous lighting operation without excessive heating of the head tip, registration of the image in full color scale. Thanks to such modernization, the safety and course of the examination do not differ from laryngoscopy conducted with commonly used recorders. The device owes some of these improvements to a laser illuminator which was used for the first time as the main light source in a high-speed camera. In the study, two cases were selected to present the results of HSV and the analysis of the generated kymograms – a woman with no glottic pathology and a man with a polyp of the right vocal fold. In the first case, the HSV examination compared with the LVS revealed a discrete glottis functional disorder in the form of a tendency to hyperphonation. The patient with an organic lesion had a clearly visible irregularity of vocal fold vibrations, which also allowed to trace mucosal wave disturbances related to its reflection from the pathological structure of the glottis and the formation of a return wave, both on the fold affected by the lesion and, to a lesser extent, contralaterally. The glottic dysfunctions observed in the studied patients were confirmed in the generated kymograms and the graphs of the glottal width waveform (GWW), as well as in the parameters calculated on their basis, assessing the frequency and amplitude of phonatory vibrations. Conclusions: The use of high-speed videoendoscopy allows for a much more accurate assessment of the phonatory function of the glottis than in laryngovideostroboscopy. The presented HSV system allows for obtaining high quality kinematic images of the larynx, color fidelity, and contrast. The use of this technology in laryngological practice enables precise structural and functional assessment of the glottis and detection of discrete phonation disorders that elude the techniques used so far.
