Opis:
Radon Rn-222 is a commonly occurring natural radionuclide found in the environment from uranium- -radium radioactive series, which is the decay product of radium Ra-226. The presence of radon carries negative health effects. It is, in fact, classifi ed as a carcinogen, and therefore, it is necessary to continuously monitor its concentration. The aim of this study was to determine the level of radon-222 concentration in water intended for human consumption in the two voivodeships of Poland: West Pomeranian and Kuyavian-Pomeranian. Measurements were performed for more than 60 intakes. The level of radon was measured by using the liquid scintillation counting method. The range of measured radon concentration in the water from the West Pomeranian Voivodeship was from 0.90 to 11.41 Bq/dm3 with an average of 5.01 Bq/dm3, while that from the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship was from 1.22 to 24.20 Bq/dm3 with an average of 4.67 Bq/dm3. Only in three water intakes, the concentration of radon-222 exceeded the value of 10 Bq/dm3. The obtained results allowed to conclude that population exposure associated with radon-222 in water is negligible and there is no need to take further action. In the case of three intakes where a higher concentration of radon was found, the potential exposure was low.

Opis:
Changes in the structure of Polish society and the dynamic ageing process make seniors, as consumers, one of the most important groups on the market. The article presents seniors in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship as an interesting group that is increasingly eager to use all the market opportunities offered to them. Their activity in many fields is an excellent tool against social exclusion. The newly emerging community requires specialists related to marketing, promotion and advertising not only to notice them on the market, but also to adapt marketing activities to their needs, interests, possibilities and wealth. The aim of the article is to present this special group that requires the development of new, not stereotypical marketing activities. It can certainly be predicted that there will be a dynamic increase in the number of social services offered - care, health and rehabilitation, and of goods and other services dedicated to the elderly. The problem of senior policy is a huge research field for many specialists related to the silver economy sector.

The main goal of this study is to present the essence and the importance of marketing communication in the functioning of local governments. Design/methodology/approach: The study incorporates the results of a study on various aspects related to marketing management in the municipalities of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. As part of the study, specific marketing communication activities that were used by local governments in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship over the past 5 years have been identified. The subject of the assessment were consisted in those marketing communication methods that are used by local governments, due to the specificity of the activities carried out by municipalities. Findings: The results of the study indicate that many local governments representing large urban or urban-rural municipalities underestimate the importance of the activities that can be undertaken in this regard. Vast majority of the local governments covered by the study only use individual marketing communication tools, limiting themselves to advertising, public relations or personal promotion activities. Practical implications: The results of the study allowed identification of a different solutions, which are characteristic for municipalities in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, that can be used by other local governments in Poland. Social implications: The paper indicates on many useful solutions, that are related to the training of the officials in the methods and tools used for creation of proper relations with the stakeholders. Originality/value: This paper presents selected results of the study on various aspects associated with marketing management in the municipalities of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. One of the research objectives was to identify and evaluate the marketing communication activities that have been undertaken by the municipal offices in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodship over the past 5 years.

A  sword with bronze pseudo-anthropomorphic hilt elements typical of the Middle La Tène was found in the Vistula River not far from the village of Siarzewo, Nieszawa commune, Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. The scabbard was discarded and lost, but the sword is now in the Kujawy and Dobrzyń Land Museum in Włocławek. The hilt consists of three solid bronze elements: the guard, the tang ring, and the pommel. At present, these elements are separated by empty spaces which were previously covered with elements made from organic materials. The pommel and guard are decorated on the surface with three small circles with a point inside. The blade of the sword is also very interesting. The surface of the sword is covered with a chagrinage decoration. In the middle part of the blade, below the top part of the hilt end, a crescent-shaped, star-like stamp (punchmark) is located. Similar bronze hilts and hilt elements are more typical of Celtic daggers and short swords, hence a sword with these elements appearing a long way north of the main Celtic area is a major surprise and mystery.

The Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship constitutes one of the smallest of the Polish voivodeships. It is composed of nineteen land districts and four city counties, including Bydgoszcz, Torun, Wloclawek and Grudziadz. According to the data provided by the Public Electoral Commission (PKW), in 2009 the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship was inhabited by more than 2 million people, 1.65 million of whom had the right to vote. Despite the relatively small number of inhabitants, due to provisions of the act regulating the process of voting for the Members of the European Parliament, the voivodeship in question became a separate electoral district with the electoral commission located in Bydgoszcz. This decision was infl uenced mostly by members of the Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) representing this region in the Polish Parliament. This lobbing activity seemed benefi cial from the party’s perspective, since SLD has been gaining extraordinary support in the region. But for this lobbing, the voivodeship under consideration would have been included in one district together with the Pomeranian Voivodeship, where the majority of voters are prone to give their support to the right-wing and centre-wing parties.

Celem głównym pracy jest przedstawienie sprzedaży żywności ekologicznej w województwie kujawsko-pomorskim na przykładzie wybranego gospodarstwa ekologicznego. Przedstawiono rozwój rolnictwa ekologicznego oraz rynku żywności ekologicznej w regionie oraz jego znaczenie dla rozwoju ruchu ekorolniczego w całym kraju, jako tła do dalszych badań. Następnie opisano sprzedaż żywności ekologicznej w Polsce i województwie. Wykorzystano dane pochodzące ze źródeł wtórnych – raportów krajowych (GIJHARS) i literatury przedmiotu. Następnie posłużono się metodą studium przypadku, którą przygotowano z wykorzystaniem danych pierwotnych pozyskanych podczas wizyt studyjnych w ekologicznym gospodarstwie rolnym w latach 2015-2017. Jako kryteria doboru gospodarstwa przyjęto jego lokalizację, ustabilizowaną produkcję ekologiczną, charakter innowacyjny oraz przynależność do grupy obszarowej gospodarstw o największym udziale w województwie kujawsko-pomorskim. Stwierdzono, że sprzedaż realizowana w krótkich kanałach dystrybucji, głównie na jarmarkach, dobrze funkcjonuje, mając dodatkowo wsparcie w mediach społecznościowych. Taka forma zapewnia bezpośredni kontakt z klientem, budowanie marki, płatność gotówką oraz możliwość jednorazowej sprzedaży dużej partii towaru. Odpowiada one zarówno oczekiwaniom części indywidualnych konsumentów, jak i całych grup, które w ramach np. kooperatyw spożywczych, aktywnie wpływają na proces produkcji i dystrybucji żywności ekologicznej, zapewniając bezpieczeństwo funkcjonowania tego typu gospodarstwom ekologicznym.
The main aim of the thesis was to present sale of organic food in Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship upon the sample of the selected organic farm. In the original part of this article there was a presentation of development of organic farming and the market of organic food in the region as well as its significance for development of organic farming in the entire country as the background for further research. Later, sale of organic food in Poland and in the voivodeship was evaluated. The author has used the data from the secondary sources of national reports(GIJHARS) and literature of subject. Subsequently the author has used the method of case study, which has been prepared with use of the original data achieved during the study visits in the organic farm in 2015-2017. The criteria of selection included: the farm location, innovative nature and belonging to the area group of farms with the highest shares in Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. The author has noticed that the sale performed in the short channels of distribution, mainly in the markets, is functioning effectively if it has extra support in the social media. This form provides direct contact with the client, branding, cash payment and the opportunity of one-off sale of a great amount of goods. They meet the expectations of a group of individual customers and the whole groups, which, upon the food cooperatives, actively influence the process of production and distribution of organic food providing saferty of functioning to the organic farms of this type.

Over recent years, the structure and rate of water consumption in Poland has exhibited significant changes. In urban areas has been observed a substantial decrease in water demand, whereas in rural areas the general trend has been the opposite. The aim of this work was to investigate the consequences of changes in area of water and sewage management in Bydgoski, Toruński and Włocławski counties, paying special attention to the rate and structure of water consumption. In this study were used data from the Central Statistical Office of Poland (GUS). The data included information concerning the length of waterworks system, and the rate and structure of water consumption in individual communes of the investigated counties. In 22 out of 28 examined units was recorded an increase of total and individual water consumption. Selected communes and rural areas have significant differences in rate and structure water consumption. The main cause of these changes are indicated to be an increase in population (migration from cities) accompanied by an expansion of waterworks.

Information and communication technologies play a vital role in the lives of individuals, social groups or society as such. This fact is related not only to new devices but also to a further- and further-reaching software offer. Nowadays, e-services are offered not only by commercial entities (eg. e-banking or electronic trade platforms) but also by central administration (eg. mDokumenty [personal documents available on electronic devices], Regionalny System Ostrzegania [Regional Warning System] or by self-governments (eg. the application BLISKO). Frequent use of these programmes requires providing data which, when improperly secured, may be taken advantage of by criminals. Users, both individual and institutional ones, should remain alert while availing themselves of information and communication technologies. That is why, diagnostic research with respect to estimating threats – also in the realm of internal security – resulting from technological development is so important. Underestimating dangers may result in risky behaviours. Negligence or simply not conducting this sort of explorations usually lead to misfired educational-informational actions or to the increase in the number of crimes. The present paper presents the results of the research conducted among the inhabitants of Kuyavian-Pomeranian voivodeship in the area of threats to internal security, with the threats being contingent upon the development of ICT.

W pracy dokonano oceny działalności agroturystycznej w województwie kujawsko-pomorskim. Analizy zostały wykonane na przełomie 2014 oraz 2015 roku i dotyczyły lat 2010-2015, z uwzględnieniem danych porównawczych z okresu 1998-2007. Z badań wynika, że województwo kujawsko-pomorskie posiada walory przyrodnicze i obiekty turystyczne, które warte są uwagi i zainteresowania ze strony turystów. Jednak pod względem liczby gospodarstw agroturystycznych zajmuje dopiero 13 miejsce w kraju oraz 10 miejsce pod względem liczby turystów korzystających z noclegów w ogóle. Potencjał rolniczy województwa powoduje, że jest ono predysponowane do rozwoju działalności rolniczej. Jednocześnie na terenach atrakcyjnych turystycznie, w mniejszych gospodarstwach, można wykorzystać te walory do uzyskiwania dodatkowych dochodów dzięki przyjmowaniu turystów. W województwie kujawsko-pomorskim najwięcej gospodarstw agroturystycznych występuje w powiatach: tucholskim (85), świeckim (44), brodnickim (33), bydgoskim (29) i żnińskim (27).
The article presents evaluation of agri-tourist activities in Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship the analyses were performed at the turn of 2014 and 2015 and they cover the yeras 2010-2015, including comparative data from 1998-2007.The results of investigations show that in Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship there are many areas of natural value with tourist objects which are worth interest and attention of visitors. However, in terms of the number of agri-tourist farms the province is only on the 13th position in Poland and 10th position in terms of the number of tourists who use accommodation, altogether. Due to the agricultural potential of the province it is predisposed to development of agricultural activities. At the same time, these natural values can be used by smaller farms to make additional profits by accommodating tourists. The majority of agri-tourist farms in Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship can be found in the following districts: tucholski (85), świecki (44), brodnicki (33), bydgoski (29) and żniński (27).

This article presents the results of the empirical research on the relationship between political preferences and environmental awareness among the inhabitants of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. The author’s aim was to answer whether respondents’ political preferences transfer to their environmental attitudes - how they perceive the hierarchy of beings and the moral meaning of nature in particular, but also, their willingness to pro-ecological attitude and their readiness to sacrifice their own business for the interest of the environment.
Niniejszy artykuł zawiera raport z badań empirycznych nad relacjami zachodzącymi pomiędzy preferencjami politycznymi a świadomością ekologiczną mieszkańców województwa kujawsko-pomorskiego. Autor postawił przed sobą zadanie uzyskania odpowiedzi na pytanie o to, czy deklarowane przez respondentów preferencje polityczne przekładają się na ich przekonania ekologiczne dotyczące sposobów postrzegania hierarchii bytów i znaczenia moralnego przyrody, a także gotowość do zachowań proekologicznych i poświęceń własnego interesu dla dobra środowiska przyrodniczego.

Prezentowany tekst jest próbą oceny zachowań zdrowotnych uczniów uczęszczających do klas trzecich szkół podstawowych. Próbę badawczą stanowiła grupa 337 uczniów losowo dobranych. Materiał empiryczny zebrano w oparciu o metodę obserwacji. W toku badań obserwowano wszystkie czynności uczniów w szkole i poza nią w obszarach: higiena osobista i czystość otoczenia, bezpieczeństwo i pierwsza pomoc, odżywianie i zdrowa żywność, aktywność ruchowa, praca i wypoczynek, czas wolny, profilaktyka uzależnień. Analiza uzyskanych danych pozwala stwierdzić, że badani uczniowie kończący edukację wczesnoszkolną wykazali wysoki poziom obserwowanych zachowań zdrowotnych we wszystkich badanych obszarach.
The presented text attempts to assess the third-grade students health behavior. The sample comprised 337 randomly selected students. The empirical material was collected based on the method of observation. During the research all students’ activities in the school and beyond were observed in the areas of: personal hygiene and environmental cleanliness, safety and first aid, nutrition and healthy food, physical activity, work and leisure, free time, addictions prevention. Analysis of the obtained data brings to a conclusion that the surveyed students who were finishing early school education indicated a high level of the observed health behavior in all tested areas.

Opis:
This article presents results of research whose main aim was to evaluate the quality parameters of water in the area of Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship in 2006-2015. The data for the analysis comes from 41 PSH observation points and two groundwater intakes. Groundwater occure in Quaternary, Neogene, Palaeogene, Cretaceous and Jurassic sediments. Analysis of physicochemical parameters of water (pH, PEW, HCO3, SO42- ,C-, Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, K+, Fe, Mn, NO-3, NO-2, NH+4 ) was presented over time and over space. Analysis were made separately for each aquifer. It has been found that the most important factors influencing of groundwater chemistry are rock types in the aquifer (salt dome, contacts between aquifers) and human impact.

Autorzy artykułu główną uwagę skupili na procesie kształtowania poczucia bezpieczeństwa mieszkańców województwa kujawsko-pomorskiego na przykładzie Ochotniczych Straży Pożarnych. Artykuł składa się z trzech zasadniczych części, dwie pierwsze są teoretyczne, a ostatnia jest empiryczna. W pierwszej kolejności dokonano teoretycznego wglądu w pojęcie bezpieczeństwo, porządek publiczny i poczucie bezpieczeństwa, a także przedstawiono organizację systemu bezpieczeństwa w społeczności lokalnej. Druga część zawiera najważniejsze informacje dotyczące uwarunkowań historyczno-prawnych związanych z powstaniem i funkcjonowaniem Ochotniczych Straży Pożarnych, w tym podstawowych zadań realizowanych w obszarze zarządzania kryzysowego. Ostatnia część artykułu poświęcona jest badaniom empirycznym przeprowadzonym na podstawie kwestionariusza ankiety wśród studentów UKW. Badania w głównej mierze dotyczyły oceny pracy strażaków OSP w kształtowaniu poczucia bezpieczeństwa wybranych środowisk województwa kujawsko-pomorskiego.
The authors of the article have focused their attention on process of forming the sense of security of Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship based on example of Voluntary Fire Brigade. Article contains of 3 parts: two theoretical and one empirical. First of all authors present theory of security , public order and sense of security and organisation of security system in local society. Second part contains important is about history and legal aspects of origin and activity of Voluntary Fire Brigades. Specially their goals in crisis management. Last part is about empirical researches based on questionaire survey form for UKW students. It refers to assessment of firefighters work and its influence to sense of security in selected areas of Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship.

Opis:
W artykule omówiono stan bezpieczeństwa ruchu drogowego na autostradzie A1, na jej odcinku przebiegającym przez teren województwa kujawsko-pomorskiego. Przedstawiane dane dotyczą lat 2016-2017. Obecnie w Polsce autostrady charakteryzują się największymi wartościami ciężkości wypadków drogowych z wszystkich rodzajów dróg publicznych, o czym świadczą dane statystyczne Policji. Stąd niezbędne jest podjęcie skutecznych działań, których efektem musi być zdecydowana poprawa bezpieczeństwa ruchu drogowego na wszystkich autostradach w Polsce, w tym także na autostradzie A1, na jej przebiegu przez województwo kujawsko-pomorskie. W pracy przedstawiono strukturę rodzajową wypadków drogowych, czas ich powstania i okoliczności, stan nawierzchni spowodowany warunkami pogodowymi, a także przyczyny powstawania zdarzeń drogowych.
The article discusses the state of road traffic safety on the A1 motorway, on its section passing the territory of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. The presented data concerns the years 2016-2017. As it is evidenced by statistical data prepared by Police, motorways are characterized by the highest level of accidents rates of fatalities and injuries from all types of public roads at present in Poland. There-fore, it is necessary to take effective actions to improve road safety on all motorways in Poland, including the A1 motor-way passing the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. The paper presents the generic structure of road accidents, the time of their occurrence and circumstances, conditions of the surface caused by weather, as well as the reasons road accidents occurs.
