The aim of this paper is to compare and contrast two neighbouring provinces, Aydın and Denizli which are located in the western part of Turkey in terms of regional development criteria by utilizing a theoratical framework developed by authors. More specifically, the relationship between provincial economic development and socio-cultural factors and Networks are searched. After conducting a 36 item survey among 118 businessmen in these provincies, it can be stated that, not only economic factors but also cultural values, networks and organizations (as it is in institutional theory) seem to explain success or failure of regions.

The article Development of Economic Culture in terms of regional differentiation of rural areas relates to the issue of individualisation of development policies in the area of creating economic culture. Pointing to the nature and significance of economic culture as a factor of economic development, the author advocates a focus on some of the support instruments in order to influence its shape, taking into account Polish regional differences. The article uses the achievements of economic and sociological research based on the methodology of desk research and the use of its own research achievements.

There are many studies focused on the role of economic freedom in creating conditions supportive for economic growth. Most of the recommendations in this area are based on the observations of the highly developed countries. But is it reasonable to generalize these findings to other countries, independently from their conditions? Contemporarily, the number of the research conducted for the countries outside the world's forefront is growing. Results are varied – some elements of economic freedom seem to be effective unconditionally, some of them bring different results. The aim of the paper is to examine the role of such factors as a stage of economic development, geographical location, and culture in the context of the efficacy of economic freedom. The study was conducted with usage of regression models for panel data and based on the indicators connected with economic freedom and economic growth.

The main aim of the paper is to show and examine how culture shapes human progress; in particular-how values determine economic development. The author describes culture as an axiological sphere including values, rules, customs, beliefs attitudes and worldviews that are prevalent in a given society. According to the humanistic perspective (called cultural turn), adequate values and other axiological determinants have a very positive impact on economic development of each society. The author analyses Mariano Grondona’s twenty cultural factors: religion, trust in the individual, the moral imperative, two concepts of wealth, different views of competition, two notions of Justice, the value of work, the role of Heresy, education, the importance of utility, the lesser virtues, time focus, rationality, authority, worldview, life view, salvation from or in the world, two Utopians, nature of optimism, two visions of democracy. The main thesis of the Grondona’s work is that economic development and well-being of civilization depends on choosing a progressive value system by a society. The author emphasizes that a further study must be conducted to understand and apply scientifically this model.

The paper seeks to identify the role of cultural and social diversity in economic development. It starts by defining the terms that are critical to the analysis, including diversity, fractionalization, polarization, social diversity, cultural diversity and economic resources, as well as providing the most significant indexes thereof. The main body of the paper interprets the notions of cultural and social diversity in terms of being a valuable economic resource. Furthermore, it collects a vast body of literature to demonstrate the relationship between the cultural/social diversity and economic development with regard to adverse or positive impact on the latter. In regard to the negative impact of diversity, the paper identifies it in the area of social communication, social capital and networks, as it effectively causes a decrease in productivity and increase in social conflict and isolation. The positive link is demonstrated with examples in the areas of innovation, creativity, usage of complementary abilities and experiences, and their role in increasing productivity. The paper refers to numerous data sources, studies and indexes illustrating how the economic systems of various countries perform in the context of the paper’s subject-matter.

Purpose: The purpose of the paper is to illustrate the broad cultural context affecting the economy and the consequences of economic development in the natural environment and social development. Design/methodology/approach: The method chosen was the analysis of literature on the subject in Polish, English and Chinese language. Findings: The article presents the ancient Chinese point of view on the idea of harmony between a human being and the nature, as well as the reasons behind the origin of the People’s Republic of China’s direction towards sustainable development. It is influenced by both the imbalance between economic growth and environmental degradation, as well as social challenges. Originality/value: The paper shows and explains the main problems faced by the economic development, as well as the roots of socio-economic behavior on a cultural basis.

The paper analyzes the role of cultural changes taking place on the demand side of the economy in building its capacity to advance to higher stages of economic development. Assuming the "cultural turn" perspective, it is shown that not only can the advancement of enculturation precede the progress to Porter's consecutive stages of economic development but it can also mark a new path of such development.
Tematem analizy jest wpływ zmian kulturowych zachodzących po popytowej stronie gospodarki na jej zdolność do przechodzenia do wyższych etapów rozwoju gospodarczego. Przyjmując perspektywę "zakrętu kulturowego", autor pokazuje, że "ukulturowienie" gospodarek nie tylko może postępować szybciej niż przechodzenie do wyższych etapów rozwoju gospodarczego według modelu M. Portera, ale może także wyznaczać alternatywną wobec niego ścieżkę rozwoju.

Prezentowany artykuł ma na celu zwrócenie uwagi na wielopoziomowe relacje, jakie wiążą ekonomię społeczną z kulturą. Wychodząc od koncepcji i badań wskazujących na wysokie znaczenie poziomu kapitału społecznego dla potencjału rozwojowego ekonomii społecznej, autor stara się pokazać, że być może jeszcze istotniejsza jest w tym kontekście i w tej relacji kultura. Jest ona, wedle wielu uznanych w literaturze przedmiotu koncepcji, czynnikiem determinującym kapitał społeczny. Drugim zagadnieniem szerzej poruszanym w tekście jest szansa, jaką daje podmiotom ekonomii społecznej działalność w sektorze kulturalnym bądź działalność oparta na kapitale kulturowym. Przytaczane jest w tym kontekście pojęcie renty monopolowej i analizowane są potencjalne szanse, które można dostrzec w kulturze, kiedy rozważa się możliwości rozwojowe sektora polskiej ekonomii społecznej. Dla ich potwierdzenia prezentowane są także przykłady konkretnych podmiotów gospodarki społecznej, które z powodzeniem funkcjonują, lokując swoją codzienną działalność w przywoływanym obszarze.
The article aims to draw attention to the multilevel relations of social economy and culture. Starting from a concept and research underlining the high signifi cance of a level of social capital for a development potential of social economy, the author attempts to show that culture is perhaps more signifi cant in such a context and relation. According to a number of recognised in literature concepts it is a factor determining social capital. The second question described in the text is a chance given to social economy entities related to the activities in culture sector or based on culture capital. The notion of monopolist rent is refereed in that context and potential chances that can be noticed in culture, when considering the development opportunities for Polish social economy sector, are analysed. To verify it, the cases of social economy entities which successfully operate, locating their activities in analysed area.

Rozwój miasta jest efektem wpływu wielu czynników, które pozostają pod większą lub mniejszą kontrolą władz samorządowych. Kreowanie polityki lokalnej to bezpośrednie i pośrednie oddziaływanie na czynniki zorientowane przede wszystkim na osiągnięcie korzyści dla mieszkańców. Opracowanie na ma celu identyfikację współzależności zachodzących między kulturą a rozwojem społeczno-gospodarczym miasta. Autorzy dokonali rozważań teoretycznych oraz zastosowali metodę studium przypadku, ilustrując omawiane zjawiska na przykładzie miasta Łodzi, które wykorzystuje kulturę w procesach generowania rozwoju oraz kreowania marki terytorialnej. Artykuł pokazuje potencjał kultury w procesach rozwoju terytoriów oraz rekomenduje jej pełniejsze wykorzystanie przez władze samorządowe nie tylko w procesach komunikowania z mieszkańcami, czy potencjalnymi użytkownikami, ale również w procesach katalizowania potencjałów rozwoju miast.
There are many factors that remain under greater or lesser control of local authorities that effect the development of the city. Local policy creation is a direct and indirect impact mainly on factors oriented primarily at achieving benefits for residents. The study aims to demonstrate the important role of culture in the socio-economic development of the territory. The authors have made theoretical considerations and applied the case study method illustrating the discussed phenomena on the example of the city of Lodz, which uses culture in the processes of generating development and creating a territorial brand. The paper shows the potential of culture in the development processes of territories and recommends its wider usage by local governments not only in the processes of communication with residents or potential territorial users, but also in the processes of catalysing the potential of urban development.

Opis:
Purpose: This study aims to map the development of research on ecological civilization with Chinese characteristics using the VOSviewer bibliometric analysis covering texts published until January 2023. The aim of the article is also to find elements of the economic sciences within the framework of the researched issues. Design/methodology/approach: The article includes a review of the most popular scientific bibliographic databases of scientific texts, namely Web of Science and Scopus, and a structured literature review of the texts. The bibliographic data has been processed in the VOSviewer program. Findings and Originality/value: Quantitative results were presented in the form of bibliometric maps, showing among others the relationship maps between watchwords and the existence of six clusters within WoS and five clusters within Scopus, as well as the presence of economic sciences in the studied area of ecological civilization and its Chinese characteristics. Social implications: The world’s environmental problems and the shared resolution regarding the implementation of seventeen Sustainable Development Goals Sustainable indicate the importance of the topic of sustainable development. China's economic development and its aspirations to become the world's leading civilization point to the need to consider the pursuit of sustainability and civilization together.

The article presents an analysis of economic culture of the Western civilization in the context of its current shape and condition. Although this topic has already been chosen as the subject of research in the past, in this paper the stress is put on those aspects that do not seem to be very popular. To look at the uniqueness of the Western civilization in the context of a globalized world may seem incorrect to some extent, but in our opinion it is still necessary if we want to explore and to discover the sources of unprecedented growth and development that not only the West have benefited from. The article thereby contributes to the field of the research of the impact of culture on the socioeconomic order. The paper therefore seeks to offer an explanation of the specific path that the Western civilization has followed, because it is important in the context of the future dilemmas of global society, which needs to find solutions to its different challenges and problems. Besides discussing the contribution of such recognized authors as Max Weber and Peter L. Berger, the article analyses the role of mediating structures (with special reference to the family) and cultural contradictions which seriously influence the shape and condition of the West these days.

The aim of the study is to identify the interdependencies between different cultures and socio-economic development of 93 countries, being the world's smallest economies, and also the impact of cultural differences on their diverse levels of development.
