Opis:: The aim of the paper is to use soft modelling and TOPSIS method in order to divide voivodeships in terms of the competitiveness level of companies. The paper verifies the hypothesis implying that the usage of two various research methods does not have considerable impact on the position of objects depending on the analyzed characteristic. The concluding part of the paper includes the comparison of the results of grouping objects obtained using the selected methods. The elaboration makes use of data from the year 2014. The results obtained on the basis of these two methods enabled the presentation of the competitiveness level of companies in urban functional areas in Poland as well as the possibilities of achieving competitive advantage by means of using additional funds from the European Union for the improvement of the conditions of their functioning.

Opis:: Celem artykułu jest porównanie atrakcyjności turystycznej województw w Polsce. W badaniu wykorzystano dane GUS za rok 2014. Do oceny potencjału turystycznego zastosowano metody wzorca rozwoju Hellwiga oraz TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity Ideal Solution). Wyniki porównano z odpowiednimi wartościami wskaźników gęstości oraz intensywności ruchu turystycznego według Schneidera. Z analizy wynika, że najwyższy potencjał turystyczny mają województwa małopolskie i śląskie, a najniższy — podlaskie i lubelskie. Dobrym wykorzystaniem potencjału turystycznego wykazały się m.in. województwa: małopolskie, śląskie, dolnośląskie, pomorskie i zachodniopomorskie.
The aim of the article is to compare tourist attractiveness of Polish voivodships. Data published by the Central Statistical Office for 2014 was used in the research. The Hellwig’s method of taxonomic measure of development and the TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity Ideal Solution) were applied to assess tourist potential. The results were compared with the corresponding values of the Schneider’s tourist traffic density and intensity rate. The analysis shows that the highest tourist potential was recorded for Małopolskie and Silesian, while the lowest for: Podlaskie and Lubelskie Voivodships. An efficient use of tourist potential was demonstrated by i.a. Małopolskie, Silesian, Lower Silesian, Pomeranian and West Pomeranian Voivodships.

Opis:: With the increase in global spatial mobility the importance of migration policy (including integration policy) is increasing day by day, both in developed countries and new market economies. In the course of the research on migration policy various measures were constructed. Even though the particular measures relate to different areas of migration policy, they do not refer to the effectiveness of migration policy. The aim of this study is to assess the effectiveness of the integration of immigrants into the labour market in the countries that belong to the Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD) and to analyse the relationships between these effects and the integration policy adopted by the individual countries. The TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to an Ideal Solution) method and the CRITIC (Criteria Importance Through Intercriteria Correlation) method were used in the research. The results indicate that the highest effectiveness of migration policy in terms of integration of immigrants into the labour market was reported in the following OECD countries: Iceland, Switzerland and New Zealand. The results also suggest that the higher the level of integration policy restrictiveness in a given country, the worse the effects in terms of integration of immigrants into the labour market that were noticed by this country.
