Opis:
Rural areas and their development constitute an important area of research and policy on the local scale as well as the entire EU Community. Therefore, the work was undertaken to determine the determinants of the development of rural areas and agriculture in the Konin and Leszno subregions. The aim of the work is to comprehensively determine the level of development of agriculture and rural communes in the Konin and Leszno subregions during the period of the Universal Agricultural Censuses (2002, 2010) based on the results of factor analysis and to examine the main reasons for changes occurring in given periods. The research will allow to determine the socio-economic situation and the resulting determinants of the development of municipalities.

The massification of higher education has changed the role and value of study and led to dissemination of doctoral studies. This article starts with an overview of the law-based and historical changes of the idea of third cycle studies, reflected in their organisation in Poland. We will indicate incoherence noticeable between curriculum and expected skills and knowledge. The perspective will let us outline some problems related to importance and significance of PhD studies in graduates careers – academic, as well as professional in general. In this context, we can also perceive current consequences in terms of identity of doctoral students and their place at the university.

Opis:
The aim of the article is to assess the level of Poles' social acceptance of development of new mobility concepts favoring the transport decarbonisation. On the basis of the literature review on the subject and the survey's results, the basic conditions for the implementation of solutions, aimed at developing a new quality of transport, were presented. It was emphasized that they are a outcome of scientific and development research, cooperation of enterprises, partnership between interested institutions and social dialogue. Next, the article's focus was on the potential of electromobility in pursuit of the circular economy developmen t. Market and social acceptance for this concept of mobility in Poland was assessed. The presented survey results confirmed high interest in new technologies in the automotive industry. At the same time, too high EV prices and the lack of adequate charging infrastructure are still the key barriers to the development of electromobility in Poland.

In this article I discuss two main types of development: sustainable and accelerated, which largely contradict each other. I highlight the differences between these two types of developments and describe the reasons behind the growing interest in accelerated development. I also speculate about conditions needed to achieve accelerated development in a democratic setting characterised by neoliberal economy. Moreover, I present arguments that are raised by both opponents and supporters of sustainable development.

In Germany, social work has long been more than what it was originally intended to be; it is more than an emergency support provided outside the school and family. Its fields of practice have changed over time, and analysis of those historical changes show that social work has become a constituent part of the welfare state’s basic provisions and developed a pool of pro-fessional knowledge, while its practitioners have spread into an ever more specialised array of fields. Social work has normalised into a service which modern societies need for their devel-opment and integration. As the welfare state developed its modern influence, occupations in the social sector have become part of the social infrastructure, even if market mechanisms and competition are gradually exerting greater influence in those fields of practice. However, in times of scarcity and global change, the fields of social work practice also face other chal-lenges.

The aim of the article was to determine the influence of agricultural farm specialization on effects of scale as obtained by such farm. A farm from Strzelno commune will serve as an example with data quoted from the years 2010-2016, when the farm conducted its business activities concentrating on the production of fattening cattle. The article will examine increase of production scale and its influence on earned income from one piece of cattle and the influence on direct and unit costs as well as the relation between incurred costs and earned profits. The trend will be analysed, which will allow me to determine yearly changes in cost indices and productivity in the analysed farm.

This paper deals with the primary causes of informal housing in Greece as well as the observed differentiations in informal housing patterns across space. The spatial level of analysis is the prefectural administrative level. The results of the multinomial logistic regression analysis indicate that Greek prefectures differ in the way they experience the informal housing phenomenon. An explanation for the observed differences may be the separate development paths followed and the diverse range of economic activities in each prefecture. The Greek state has not made provisions for creating the necessary ‘urban land stock’ in each prefecture, so that everyone interested can find land parcels at an affordable price. On the contrary, the state encourages the informal housing activity by legalizing large areas of such activity sporadically and by introducing legislative initiatives of limited success in dealing with the problem.

The fact that the model of a museum institution established in the 19th century needs to be changed has been mentioned at least since the mid-20th century. Defined as a modern or modernistic museum, it was the result of deep social changes which took place in Europe in the 18th and 19th centuries, and the essence of its mission was faith in the Enlightenment ideals, especially in knowledge and development, as well as the conviction of the superiority of the Western world over the rest of the world at the time, and also the need to define national identity in the process of forming nation-states. Judging from the opinions of researchers, critics and museum professionals, there are two distinct points of view regarding the functioning of this model in the contemporary world. Some conceive of the museum as a distinct realm, removed from social and political forces, whereas others see it as democratising access to art, and even as politically correct when they attempt to include groups formerly omitted from history.Among the phenomena and trends which may result in the current museum model being changed, new technologies, commercialisation and globalisation are mentioned. The author also suggests adding elements like a change in the character of the museum institution in the light of the great museum boom in Far Eastern countries, especially in China, the United Arab Emirates, Africa and South America, as well as problems connected with the new social hierarchy, or with the generational diversity of museum visitors. Changes may also be elicited by the increasing number of private museums and their impact on museum practices. A public museum, in order to face economic possibilities and the dynamics of private museums, will have to be open not only for the public but also for its collections, which in principle have to date been untouchable and closed for ethical rather than legal reasons.On the basic of these reflections, the author believes that the museum institution will be continuously open to collecting, researching and conserving art objects as well as to diverse educational activity, open to other than traditional forms of contact with the objects it collects, and open to various museum narratives not limited by conventions or academic limitations. What is more, exhibitions organised by museums will more frequently be used as a tool in social politics and in so-called soft diplomacy. Under the influence of the market economy and the dynamics of private museums, public museums will adopt more functional ways of administration, financing and managing museum property, and in the face of new forms of social communication they will reorganise their marketing departments. The organisation of blockbuster exhibitions will still remain an important element of the activity of worldwide art museums. In Poland, museums will be employed more strongly than ever in the state’s strategy aimed at minimising the civilisation gap with respect to developed EU countries.
O potrzebie zmiany ukształtowanego w XIX w. modelu instytucji muzealnej mówi się przynajmniej od poł. XX stulecia. Model ten, określany jako muzeum nowoczesne, lub modernistyczne był wytworem głębokich przemian społecznych, które miały miejsce w Europie w XVIII i XIX w., a istotę jego misji stanowiła wiara w oświeceniowe ideały, głównie w wiedzę i postęp oraz przekonanie o cywilizacyjnej wyższości świata zachodniego nad resztą ówczesnego świata, jak też potrzeba definiowania tożsamości narodowych w procesie powstawania państw narodowych. Sądząc z wypowiedzi uczonych, krytyków i muzealników rysują się jednak dwa różniące się stanowiska odnośnie istnienia tego modelu we współczesnym świecie. Jedni widzą muzeum nadal jako oddzielny świat, z dala od społecznych i politycznych nacisków, a drudzy jako demokratyczny sposób dostępu do sztuki, a nawet jako instytucję poprawną politycznie, usiłującą przyciągnąć do siebie wykluczone przez historię grupy społeczne.Wśród zjawisk i trendów, które mogą wpłynąć na zmianę dotychczasowego modelu muzeum wymienia się nowe technologie, komercjalizację i globalizację. Autor proponuje dodać też takie, jak zmiana charakteru instytucji muzealnej pod wpływem ogromnego boomu muzealnego w krajach dalekiego wschodu, głównie w Chinach, w Emiratach Arabskich, w Afryce i Ameryce Południowej, jak też problemy związane z nową hierarchizacją społeczną, czy z pokoleniowym zróżnicowaniem publiczności muzealnej. Na zmianę wpłynąć też może wzrastająca liczba prywatnych muzeów i ich wpływ na praktykę muzealną. Muzeum publiczne, by sprostać ekonomicznym możliwościom i dynamice muzeów prywatnych, będzie musiało być otwarte nie tylko dla publiczności, ale też dla swych kolekcji, dotychczas w zasadzie niedotykalnych i zamkniętych, bardziej etycznymi niż prawnymi barierami.Na podstawie przedstawionych rozważań autor uważa, że instytucja muzealna będzie: nadal nastawiona na kolekcjonowanie, badanie i konserwację obiektów oraz na różnorodną działalność edukacyjną; otwarta na inne, niż tradycyjne, formy kontaktu z kolekcjonowanymi obiektami; otwarta na różnorakie, nie ograniczone konwenansem i akademickimi rygorami, narracje muzealne. A także: organizowane przez muzeum wystawy znacznie częściej niż dotychczas będą wykorzystywane jako narzędzia polityki społecznej i w tzw. miękkiej dyplomacji; muzea publiczne pod wpływem impulsów ze strony gospodarki rynkowej i dynamiki muzeów prywatnych przyjmą bardziej funkcjonalne sposoby zarządzania, finansowania i gospodarowania majątkiem muzealnym, a w obliczu nowych form komunikacji społecznej przebudują swoje komórki odpowiedzialne za działania marketingowe; ważnym elementem działalności światowych muzeów sztuki pozostaną nadal organizowane przez nie wielkoskalowe wystawy czasowe; w Polsce muzea będą znacznie silniej, niż dotychczas, wykorzystywane w strategii państwa do minimalizowania dystansu cywilizacyjnego w stosunku do rozwiniętych państw Unii Europejskiej.

Former industrial suburbs, which are now the object of economic and functional transformations almost everywhere in Europe, are suitable testing grounds for implementing a more sustainable urban development. The case of the northern suburbs of Paris, which we will look at here, shows that there is no lack of political will or regulatory tools for imagining and planning this sustainable city. However, the social problems that affect these suburbs are a definite impediment to its realization.

Celem artykułu jest zbadanie jednorodności zmian w czasie, jakie zachodzą w zrównoważonym rozwoju Unii Europejskiej (UE). Prowadzenie tego rodzaju analiz ma szczególne znaczenie, bowiem dążenie do równomiernego rozwoju krajów UE wpisane jest w jej strategiczne cele rozwojowe. Podstawę informacyjną badania stanowiły wskaźniki zrównoważonego rozwoju za lata 2009—2014, publikowane przez Eurostat. Do badania jednorodności zmian w czasie wykorzystano rachunek wektorowy. Wyniki analiz potwierdziły istnienie znacznych różnic w zakresie zrównoważonego rozwoju zarówno w poszczególnych regionach Europy, jak i krajach członkowskich UE.
The purpose of the article is to analyse the uniformity of changes over time concerning sustainable development of the European Union. Such analyses are particularly important as the pursuit of sustainable development of the EU countries is one of its strategic developmental objectives. The informational basis of the study were the sustainable development indicators for the years 2009—2014 published by the Eurostat. Vector calculus was used to examine the uniformity of changes. The results of the analysis confirmed significant differences in, both across regions in Europe and EU member countries.
