    Speech acts identification by the participants of interaction in public communication The purpose of this article is to analyze the public discourse in terms of speech acts identification by the participants of the interaction. The research material comes from two radio programs (“Radio Zet-Guest” and “The 7th Day of the Week”), in which a journalist interviews politicians. Political discourse is not a field of creating sincere speech acts, but rather a playground on which identifying speech acts is strategically important. The preinteraction is very important, which determines both the creation and perception of speech acts. This manifests itself in breaching the preferred communication behaviors, and instead using avoidance strategies. With the development of the discourse in time it becomes more and more authentic and discourse participants “truly” identify speech acts.

    The article analyzes the complementarity of image and text in political cartoons taking into account the following parameters: Prior Text(s), Producer, Cartoon, and Viewer/ Reader. In the meaning-making process, the viewer/reader constantly alternates between image and text. The two modes of communication can convey the same message(s), each of the modes can strengthen the meaning of the other; the two might have nothing in common, yet, when combined, will produce a meaningful message. Visual metaphors and metonymies play an important role in the construction of meaning in political cartoons. They are analyzed from the point of view of conceptual metaphor and metonymy theory and its application in multimodal communication. Humour in political cartoons is also briefly discussed.

    The article is an example of a discourse analysis dedicated to the decreasing relevance of the left-wing politics in Poland. In the course of the article author, first, reconstructs explanatory factors behind the phenomenon of the „disappearing left in Poland” that has been proposed by several authors since the 90s. In the second step, author applies this framework to the field of parliamentary politics, political discourses as well as to wider political context (i.e. media). The explanatory factors has been classified into five groups: adaptation (adjusting the left to the neoliberal order), denial (unsuccessful defense of leftist values and tradition), misrepresentation (consent of the political elites of the left to changing political affiliation of the trade unions that folated towards the conservative right), capture (exploitation of the crucial elements of the doctrine like „welfare state” by the national- Catholic milieus), incoherence (different ideological priorities of the „young” and „old” activists of the Left) and eventually liked with the „vanishing voter” situation in Poland.

    Celem tej pracy jest próba analizy dyskursu filozoficznego Przygodności, ironii i solidarności Richarda Rorty'ego. Szczególnie interesować mnie będzie to, w jaki sposób ów postmetafizyczny dyskurs angażuje się po stronie dość konkretnie określonych ideałów polityczno-społecznych. Będę chciał dowieść, iż czyni to za pomocą tzw. „momentów literackich”. Owe momenty mają u Rorty'ego swoją specyfikę – są m.in. językowo nierewolucyjne, gdyż i sam Rorty był zdeklarowanym, socjaldemokratycznym i liberalnym, reformistą.
    The aim of the article is an analysis of Richard Rorty’s philosophical discourse Contingency, irony and solidarity. Special attention will be paid to the way how post-metaphysical discourse is engaged in definite socio-political ideals. I will try to prove it is done thanks to “literary moments”. In Rorty’s discourse those moments are specific: they are language non-revolutionary because Rorty was a declared, social democratic and liberal reformist.
