    In contrast to the prevailing in the 70s, 80s and 90s concepts on nation-building and national consciousness, the author develops the idea of the Norwegian national identity being present in the Middle Ages, modified and strengthened in the period of the union with Denmark (16th–18th centuries), and during the union with Sweden in the 19th century. In this time, the national identity grew into a political programme of regaining independence and building a national culture.

    The article discusses the history of the Nasjonal Samling party (founded in 1933) and its leader Vidkun Quisling – a military, politician and prime minister of the collaborative government of occupied Norway in 1942–1945. Currently, Norwegian fascism of the 1930s and 1940s does not serve as a popular exemplification of fascist ideology, although unlike many other European movements of this type, it managed to gain power in its own country. However, this happened only after Quisling entered into an alliance with Germany and the Third Reich attacked Norway. The history of Quisling and his party seems to prove the bankruptcy of his ideas, which never gained popularity in Norwegian society.

    The article describes essential observations and research analysis which resulted from joint actions between educators of penitentiary training centers in Poland and Norway. This is a summary of the report The effects of bilateral cooperation between Polish and Norwegian penitentiary education centers (Andersen et al., 2015). Training schemes in the prison services touch very peculiar areas of education, where there are not many researches describing this subject, and even fewer comparisons describing tasks and training models of two penitentiary systems. Thus this paper presents the research which is probably being the only one joint attempt of examining two systems of trainings for prison service in Poland and Norway. The general conclusion resulting from the researched material is that the use of e-learning in Norwegian penitentiary system trainings is backed up by greater experience which is obviously noticeable, while the respondents of both penitentiary institutions have the same and decent views about blended-learning.

    Bezpieczeństwo socjalne jest jednym z kluczowych elementów budowy stabilności państwa. W sposób szczególny to zadanie wypełniają państwa dobrobytu ( welfare state ), wśród których wyróżniają się kraje nordyckie. Chociaż wszystkie zasadzają się na wspólnych fundamentach, każde z nich zostało zbudowane wokół innej strategii długofalowego rozwoju. Artykuł stanowi ich analizę i przedstawia główne założenia budowy bezpieczeństwa socjalnego w państwach nordyckich.
    Social security is one of the key elements of building stability of the state. In particular, this task is fulfilled by the welfare states, among which stand out the Nordic countries. While all are based upon a common foundation, each of which has been being built around another long-term development strategy. The article is their analysis and presents the main points of the construction of social security in the Nordic countries.
