Opis:
Domestic violence is a global issue that crosses national borders, as well as socio-economic, cultural, racial and class differences. This problem is widely dispersed geographically, which made it typical and tolerated in many social environments. The violence used by an intimate partner Intimate Partner Violence is a currently accepted term used to describe "violence in family" or "domestic violence". IPV is traditionally understood as a crime committed by strong, dominant men against vulnerable women. This issue appears regularly in public debates, the media and scientific studies. However, the violence used by women against men is still a taboo subject. Research on this phenomenon is still rare. However, domestic violence exerted by women is a reality, it occurs virtually in every society, although to a different degree. The aim of the article is to show the violence against men exerted by women, as well as the causes and effects of the phenomenon. Institutional forms of support for men - victims of violence - in selected French-speaking countries were also presented. The article is based on the monographic method - the analysis of available scientific sources (published in English, French and Polish) describing the phenomenon being diagnosed

Opis:
The text is an attempt to present lesser-known plot interpretations of the Matrix series (both film trilogy and anime Animatrix) movies. The author uses various research perspectives (religio-mystical, political and socio-economic ones) to present possible ways of interpretation of particular motifs and characters, referring among others to mystical beliefs, Gnostic ideas and the tradition of initiation novel, but also to contemporary popular culture regarding films and science fiction novels. The analysis contains as well socio-political issues touched upon in the movie; moreover on the example of Anonymous Group activities the author reveals the way Matrix series still influences contemporary culture.

Opis:
Both novels analysed in the article (Władysław Reymont’s Vampire written at the beginning of the 20th century and contemporary Apokryf Agłai by Jerzy Sosnowski) present the fall of a man seduced by a demonic woman. Daisy (a vampire) and Lilka¬ Agłaja (a cyborg) are capable, due to their dangerous beauty, of destroying men’s careers, family life, hapiness and sanity. In these texts femininity is traditionally described as something monstrous and dangerous. A psychoanalytical reading (which follows Klein and Freud) leads to a categorization of the sources of such stereotypical images. The mental states of the characters, as described in both novels, are very similar. The regressive symptoms are highlighted – men’s psyches regress to the paranoid and schizoid state, where primary mechanisms of defence seem to dominate. The images of the femme fatale are influenced by the projection of a split, negative object. They aim at preventing an object from final destruction. The author of the article creates a hypothesis that patriarchal culture influences the defence strategies used by the heroes of both novels. Pariarchal culture represses men that show weakness and denies them the right to be called men. However, it accepts weaknesses when they are disguised as misogynistic attitudes. If a man cannot accept weakness, as belonging to him, he must make a woman responsible for it (even on the level of subconscious defence strategies).
