Opis:
This article discusses automatic extraction of relevant words from sets of texts. The author briefly presents three methods aimed to extract the words from the corpus of words with regard to their frequency, or words whose occurrence next to each other is not random. First, he focuses on the keyword analysis method, then he discusses the Zeta method developed by John Burrows and Hugh Craig, and the third method covered in the article is the topic modelling method, which is becoming very popular recently, and consists in finding clusters of words co-occurring in similar contexts. Topic modelling was intended for a quick content search in large collections of documents. On the basis of 100 Polish novels, the article presents how this method can be used for linguistic studies.

Distribution Channels
Grocery Stores
Hypermarkets
Supermarkets
Discount Stores
Opis:
In the nineties of the 20th c. key changes took place in the distribution of fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) in Poland. There was a sharp rise in the number of retail outlets, including grocery stores. Completely new food distribution channels appeared in Polish realities. Among them hypermarkets and discount stores are to be named. These two formats of shops, controlled by foreign chains, have completely changed the image of FMCG distribution in Poland. Supermarkets have also built up their position. It is the only format included in modern distribution channel, where the domestic capital holds a fairly strong position. Despite the lowering significance of the so-called traditional distribution channel of food, its share still exceeds 50%. It is an exceptional phenomenon not only in the developed West European states but also in the majority of Central European countries.

important words
keywords
words of the year
banner words
collective symbols
Opis:
There are various reasons why some words are considered more important than others: first, because they are most frequently used, regardless of what, when, where and to whom is said or written; second, because in the text or a collection of texts they appear considerably more often (statistically) than in other texts (they are keywords); third, because (despite the lack of statistical verification) they are considered to be keywords of particular texts, as they are characteristic of them or imply their meaning; fourth, because they are considered (on a similar principle) to be keywords of particular literary periods or national cultures; fifth, because they were considered to be words of the day, words of the month or words of the year. In this context, a specific, sixth category of words more important than others are banner words, which name what is particularly important for some communities, because it is so valuable and friendly to them, or on the contrary, so disgusting and dangerous. Banner words, in contrast to keywords, “live” rather in language (in consciousness of its bearers) than in texts (although they are exhibited in texts).
