    The article collects information on Norwid’s works found in recent years. The most important discoveries include song lyrics [“Blade kwiaty na odłogu...”], two Norwid’s letters to Julia Pusłowska and an original death certificate of the poet. As to the art works, unknown graphics (6 pieces) and one watercolor of rare beauty (Pythia) were revealed at the auctions. Most of these works enriched the collection of the Museion Norwid Foundation. In the university library in Illinois, a copy of Divine Comedy, given by the poet to Numa Łepkowski, was found. Another important item for Norwidology is a family photo album belonging to Maria de Bonneval née Gerlicz acquired for the collection of the Bloch Family Foundation, which included photos of over 70 people whom Norwid knew. The article also informs about fakes and works whose authorship cannot be credibly attributed to Norwid.

    It is rather unusual that as many as four German museums within the remit of three independent institutions are devoted to one artist – Ernst Barlach (1870–1938), a representative of modernist art, sculptor, graphic artist and writer, whose life and work significantly influenced 20th-century art history. His life and works have been commemorated in four places, two of which are museums in Wedel (the artist’s birthplace) and in Ratzenburg (where he spent his youth), managed by the Ernst Barlach Association in Hamburg. Meanwhile, the Ernst Barlach House in Hamburg preserves the collection once created by the manufacturer Hermann F. Reemtsma (1892–1961), which is exhibited in a museum in Jenisch Park (Hamburg– Nienstedten) designed by the architect Werner Kallmorgen (1902–1979). The Ernst Barlach Foundation stores the artist’s legacy, the world’s most comprehensive set of his works from the years 1888–1938, in Güstrow in Mecklenburg–Western Pomerania. The creation of the Foundation immortalised the artist’s history and creative development. He died in Rostock in September 1938 and Nikolaus Barlach (1906–2001), his son and only heir, inherited not only the artist’s estate but also his legacy. The son preserved the collection with the help of experts on Barlach’s work. He managed to keep it undamaged even during the Nazi period. After 1945, he delegated the task of preserving his father’s legacy to Friedrich Schult (1889–1978), a drawing teacher from Güstrow, whose major achievement was publishing the first catalogues of Barlach’s works between 1958 and 1971. However, in the East Germany formed in 1949, Barlach’s works were widely controversial. Once both German states had been united in 1990, the political order changed and after some negotiations, the whole legacy preserved in Güstrow together with the house–workshop was sold by the heirs to trustees from the Foundation of Culture of Federal States in 1993, who recommended at the same time that the goods form part of a foundation for the public benefit. The Federal Republic of Germany, the Foundation of Culture and the federal state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania were deeply involved in this purchase. The Foundation deals with Barlach’s life and work, but its main field of activity are museum works: storing, collecting, preserving, researching and promoting the artist’s output. It also functions as a research centre for Barlach’s work, arranges international cooperation in its projects with other museums and institutions, organises exhibitions and issues various publications.

    Artykuł dotyczy fundacji jako jednostek organizacyjnych posiadających osobowość prawną, będących samodzielnymi podmiotami praw i obowiązków oraz roli, jaką odgrywają na rzecz edukacji w zakresie bezpieczeństwa i porządku publicznego. Omówiona została szczegółowo charakterystyka działania fundacji. Przedstawiono ideę edukacji dla bezpieczeństwa jako upowszechniania świadomości i wiedzy o źródłach, charakterze i skutkach zagrożeń dnia codziennego i w sytuacjach nadzwyczajnych oraz opanowania umiejętności rozpoznawania, zapobiegania i przeciwstawienia się tym zagrożeniom.
    The focus of this article is on the notion of foundation as an organizational unit with legal personality, which is an independent entity of rights and obligations, as well as its essential role played in education in the field of safety and public order. Detailed characteristics of the activities undertaken by the Foundation have been highlighted. The idea of education for security has been presented as the dissemination of awareness and knowledge about the sources, nature and results of everyday threats and those occurring in emergency situations as well as mastering the skills to recognize, prevent and counteract these threats.

    On 26 October 2018 for the eight time Kujawy and Pomorze University in Bydgoszcz had the pleasure of inaugurating the International Interdisciplinary Conference accordingly to the „ONE WORLD – MANY CULTURES” congress. The theme of this year's seventh edition of the congress was called “Intercultural dialogue and the truth behind it.” Moreover, this effort became inseparable with other symposiums exhibited in our region, due to the multi-annual collaboration with the Joseph Ratzinger-Benedict XVI Vatican Foundation, Marshal's Office as well as Bydgoszcz City Hall.

    This paper is an attempt to assess selected aspects of the state of foundation law in Poland in relation to the legal position that the Constitution of the Republic of Poland has granted them. The text analyses selected statutory solutions in the light of separable patterns for reviewing their compliance with constitutional principles and values. In the author’s opinion, the provisions of the Polish Foundations Act and the regulations concerning the financing of foundations violate the constitutional standards of the Republic of Poland. In particular, it has been found that foundation law contains many loopholes, the filling of which requires the use of complicated interpretation techniques, which makes it impossible to ensure that the institution of the foundation is being and will be used properly as an element of civil society in a modern democratic state. Moreover, the opinion was presented that the functioning of foundations is excessively influenced by executive bodies, run by active politicians. This concerns, first of all, the unclear principles of supervision over foundations’ activities, and excessive powers to issue the executive regulations included in the Foundations Act, as well as the principles of the allocation of funds towards grants by the National Freedom Institute, based on a disproportionate freedom of decision making. For these reasons, the author postulates the adjustment of the Polish statutory regulation, dating back to the period of the Polish People’s Republic, to the constitutional standards introduced by the Constitution of 1997 and enshrined in the case law of the Constitutional Tribunal.
